Pain is a survival mechanism of fundamental importance. It plays a crucial role in our lives and eventually molds us into whoever it is that we become. At least it did for Zuri.
After her world is brutally destroyed, she feels she has nothing left to hold on to but the fading dream of escaping the ghetto. Young, beautiful, and naïve, she is drawn into the world of sex and money, working at a hole-in-the-wall strip club in South Philly. One bad decision leads to another, and she quickly finds herself on the path to destruction. But a chance meeting with Brown, a ghost from her past, changes everything. In him, she finds love and the strength to endure.
Accepting his offer, Zuri returns to her old neighborhood, but as fate would have it, the familiar face of tragedy rears its ugly head once again. Old wounds are opened up and secrets revealed as she comes face to face with the ultimate betrayal. Consumed by her emotions and the thirst for revenge, Zuri wants answers in blood. Witness the making of a Murder Mama and a legacy reborn.
I also thought it was a book about the original murder mamas. Do not get me wrong this was a good book, even though it really did not touch to much on the murder mamas, so I think the title is misleading. I can not wait until the next book to see what Zuri has in store.
This book by no means explain anything why was this the title? Why did so much happened to Zurich without to much detail what was this really about because there are so many unexplained answers there needs to be a part 2 what happened when Zurich made it to Florida how did she get revenge on Brown you know who what when and where and what now
The book was missing the Murder Mamas. The title had me confused after reading it. But overall it was a very good story and I can't wait to see if there will be a part 2
It was a decent read. The title does not match the story line so I believe there is another book out there. Basically, the end left you with a bunch of questions.
Zuri has lost everything that has meaning, including her parents and sister. As a last resort, she turns to the strip club, where jealousy and envy reignes supreme. Allowing Waheed to finally come to her aid, Zuri soon realizes that she has stepped out of the frying pan and into the fire. In steps Brown, the guy she secretly crushed in as a teenager and also her deceased sister's boyfriend. The journey that these two embark upon is one for the history books.
Brown is establishing a name in the streets as the man to see, but he's gunning for the top spot, and will do anything to get it. The one thing that he's missing is a woman to call his own…until Zuri. Little does she know, about the danger that comes along with being by his side.
This page turner is my introduction to Dream Collins and I can't wait to read more. Nobody could be trusted in this book, which led to Zuri becoming a calculated beast. After all…she was told that she is SPECIAL. My favorite character is Zuri, because if her strength. Like a phoenix, she is able to rise about the ashes. Now, my least favorite character goes to Brown, and as much as it pains me to say that, I have to admit that he deserved everything that happened to him.
I started this a while back. I put it down for months and, picked it back up today. It definitely moved slowly. Although I can appreciate the author building the story and showing how wrong Zuri had been done by almost everyone in her life. The last few chapters were the best. It would have been nice if there was a little follow up on certain characters: Ivy, Diamond, Gaysha... What about Trav? The ending left a lot of unanswered questions. There doesn't seem to be a part 2. 2.5 stars
THIS HAS THE WRONG TITLE & THE WRONG WRITER! THIS HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THE REAL MURDER MAMAS! I WILL NOT RECOMMEND THIS TO NO ONE GIVEN I'M A MURDER MAMA FAN & THIS HAD ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH MIAMOR, ARIES, ROBYN, ANISA, OR BARBARA--THE ORIGINAL MURDER MAMAS! MS. COLLINS, WHATCHU TRYNNA DO?! YOU NOT ONYL MESSED UP THE MEMORY OF OUR GIRLS WITH THE DOUBLE M'S, BUT YOU MISSED THE POINT OF IT ALL WITH THE TITLE! DON'T PLAY WIT IT OR FANS OF THE MURDER MAMAS!
Ghost of the Murder Mamas is wild—in the best way. It’s gripping, well-researched, and seriously addictive. The hosts do a great job telling these intense stories without being over the top. I binged the whole thing and wanted more. If you like true crime with a bit of attitude and heart, this one’s a must.
This book was a very emotional read. I was constantly on a roller coaster of emotions. I would surely recommend this book to and friend, especially a fan of the Murder Mamas.
This was a really good book. Definitely a page turner. I'm still trying to figure out though does Zuri eventually have any connection with Ashley & Jaquavis Murder Mamas. ???! They were mentioned but that's it.
I was so surprised to find this book. I already loved the story of Murda Mamas. This book was great. I was secretly hoping that the story would continue like a new future chapter of The Murda Mamas. Great job Dream Collins.
The book was a good read however the title was misleading. It didn't touch on anything regarding the Murder Mamas with the exception of her seeing them in the club. I thought it would have given more context to the original storyline or at least more interest to the Murder Mamas.
It was a slow start but really picked up. I finished in 2 days. I hope there is a part 2 to this because the ending does leave you wondering about what happens next.
