Une bonne suite. Les personnages n'ont pas une grande évolution puisque tout se passe en fait dans un laps de temps relativement court, mais l'univers se développe, des personnages s'ajoutent, le tout se complexifie et c'est une bonne chose. Je suis toujours accroché et j'ai hâte de lire la suite!

4 ⭐️ | Ce deuxième volet se produit sous un très court laps de temps. J’ai trouvé ça difficile de comprendre la suite logique des événements.
Les illustrations sont tout autant magnifiques que dans le premier livre. Belle histoire qui me ramène à mes émissions d’aventures jeunesses préférées.

Un second tome plutôt fun et mignon

The second volume of Magic 7 goes a bit Invasion of the Body Snatchers when all of the adult authority figures in their small town begin to act strangely, forcing our group of heroes to go underground and form a resistance movement.
Magic 7, Volume Two: Against Them All picks up a short time after the first book, with Leo, Farah, Hamelin, and their new friend Lupe, having been friends for a while and forming a stronger bond after coming together to fight Lupe's out of control robot creations. However, we learn that their peaceful lives have been thrown off kilter when the teachers at school start cracking down on minor uniform rule infringements. This seems to only be the start too, as then the parents start to clamp down on what the kids are allowed to do outside of school. They're only allowed to get together if parents are around, and neighbourhood watch groups have formed to keep an eye on kids. It reaches breaking point when the police put a curfew into effect, preventing kids being out on the street at night.
The gang also face some personal dilemmas too. Lupe loses her stash of robots, her hanger being raided by police, who take the machines in as evidence. Hamelin gets told by his father that he's going to be sent into foster care, and his animals to the pound, and is forced to run away from home. We also discover that Farah is having difficulties with controlling her fire based powers, and learn why when we're told that she's channelling the power of a demon that's trying to possess her.
With their lives seemingly falling apart around them the children of the town are forced into action, coming together to form an underground resistance movement. Our magic heroes join up with the other kids, but have to try and keep their powers hidden from their peers as they fight back against what's happening. However, they soon start to suspect that there might be a magical origin for this new threat too.
With the previous volume of Magic 7 having done a lot of the groundwork for setting up these characters this second volume moved at a much quicker pace, and was able to pack in a lot more action, adventures, and intrigue straight from the start. The story didn't have to spend time letting us get to know our main character, and as such it definitely began a lot stronger; especially by being able to give us a huge revelation into Farah's powers and her home life very early on. It turns out she's not just making fire with her magic, but is possessed by a powerful demon that she's keeping at bay, and using its powers to her own ends. This was certainly a surprising development, but not an unwelcome one. It giver her characters a lot more depth, and makes her more than just a kid with powers. She has something dangerous inside her, something that she has to keep a tight rein on else it gain control and cause havoc. It definitely helps to set her apart from the other members of the group.
We also get an early explanation for why Lupe was acting shady in the first volume, and exactly what Alice was doing, and what her powers are. Yes, she's still quite creepy and I'm not one hundred percent convinced that she's completely on the level, but she at least seemed a bit more trustworthy in this book to the previous one.
I enjoyed the story for this volume a lot more than the first too. The first was a very childish story in a lot of way. I know these are books aimed at younger readers, so the stories are going to be simpler, but a thief that's stealing random objects like the school trophy or someones jewellery to be made into robots feels a bit different to all of the adults in town turning against the children. It felt like the stakes were higher here, that the threat was a lot more serious, and that it was a more desperate fight.
We also got hints in this volume of where the series as a whole might be heading thanks to a surprise appearance at the end of the book. It was something that I wasn't expecting, and am still not sure how I feel about it. The character it has a connection to seemed to act quite casual about something that should have been a huge emotional moment for them; but I guess we're going to have to see how it expands in future stories. We did get told why the Magic 7 are important though, and why they need to come together. It's something that I found very interesting, and if the story does follow through on what was promised here it could lead to some exciting stuff further down the line.

Świat zmienia się dosłownie na oczach nastolatków. Dorośli zaczynają zachowywać się bardzo dziwnie. W mieście wprowadzane są nowe ograniczenia i dosyć restrykcyjne prawa, nauczyciele stali się bardziej wymagający, a rodzice nadmiernie opiekuńczy. Musi się kryć za tym jakaś tajemnica. Sekret, który postanawiają odkryć młodzi bohaterowie, nie zdając sobie jednak sprawy z czyhającego na nich niebezpieczeństwa. Kiedy poznają zagrożenie, jest już za późno, aby się wycofać. Leo i jego towarzyszom nie pozostaje więc nic innego jak wykorzystać swoje mocy i stać się pełnoprawnymi obrońcami świata i ludzkości. Pozostaje jednak pytanie, czy ich młodzieńcze umysły poradzą sobie z przytłaczającą odpowiedzialnością?
Poprzedni (pierwszy) tom serii posłużył autorowi głównie do przygotowania gruntu pod całą historię i przedstawienie kilku kluczowych postaci. W Magiczna 7 #2 Kid Toussaint wykorzystuje tę bazę, aby mocniej zagłębić się w przygodowo-widowiskową historię, w której nastolatkowie stają się ostatnią nadzieją ludzkości. Przedstawiona tutaj „akcja” może nie jest tak szalenie dynamiczna, jak w komiksach superbohaterskich pokroju Marvela czy DC Comics, ale nastolatki będą mieć kilka okazji do zaprezentowania swoich zdolności.
Scenarzysta całkiem dobrze radzi sobie tutaj z prezentacją niektórych bohaterów. Postacie ewoluują, zaczynają lepiej rozumieć swoje zadanie i pokładane w nich nadzieje. Z każdą kolejną stroną zaczynają oni również lepiej opanowywać swoje zdolności. Nie brakuje tutaj również dawki bardziej emocjonalnych i głębszych momentów. Większość z nastolatków boryka się bowiem z jakimiś osobistymi problemami, które nie tylko są przykrymi wspomnieniami, ale również mogą mieć wpływ na ich obecne zachowanie.
Niestety nie wszystko w albumie prezentuje się tak jak powinno i znajdziemy tutaj kilka dość mocno zauważalnych wad. Po pierwsze autor sam nie jest pewien, w którym kierunku powinien rozwijać swój tytuł. Czy zostać przy lekkim przygodowym klimacie (jak w pierwszej części) dla młodszego odbiorcy czy może zdecydować się na „głębszą” i bardziej złożoną historię dla kogoś trochę starszego? Niestety taki brak zdecydowania przekłada się na mocno nierówne niektóre fragmenty dzieła. W kilku scenach odnosi się wrażenie, że scenariusz stoi w przysłowiowym „szerokim rozkroku” i nie może złapać stabilności. Bardzo problematyczne jest również wprowadzenie do historii kilku nowych postaci, które pojawiają się dosłownie znikąd. Prowadzi to do momentów, w których odnosi się wrażenie przegapienia kilku istotnych scen (tak jakby w albumie brakowało kilku kartek).

Donc, j'ai continué sur ma lancée et j'ai enchaîné avec ce deuxième tome.
Notre groupe tente de trouver les deux derniers membres mais quelque chose de bizarre se passe. Les adultes se comportent bizarrement. Couvre-feu, durcissement du règlement intérieur du lycée, bref, ce n'est pas normal.
Farah, Léo, Hamlin, Lupe et Alice sont donc obligé de faire autrement pour pouvoir mener à bien leur recherche.
Comme pour le premier tome, j'ai passé un bon moment avec notre petit groupe de héros très sympathique et attachant et non, je n'ai pas changé, Alice reste ma préférée. L'histoire avance bien, ils sont presque au but d'être tous rassemblés, tous les sept. J'aime toujours autant le chara-design des personnages et la palette de couleur utilisée. L'histoire est intéressante et de nouveaux personnages font leur entrée.
Comme pour n'importe quelle BD, elle se lit vite, elle est agréable à l’œil et je n'ai pas pu m'empêcher de continuer avec le troisième tome. C'est vraiment une bonne série et je regrette de ne pas l'avoir connue plus tôt.

Comment me positionner face à cette bd enfant qui ne me fait ni chaud ni froid ? Je sais que les enfants en raffolent et je ne dirai pas que c'est une mauvaise bd mais disons qu'elle ne m'emballe pas, moi, adulte de 23 ans.
La narration avance à une vitesse folle, ce qui permet d'éviter les ellipses et les éternels "filler" mais cette scène de fin pour moi était tellement mal faiiiiite...
"ok cool si tu veux tu me révélés un truc hyper important mais je pars, ah et aussi tu es mon père cool story"
Je sens qu'il y a du potentiel et que les prochains tomes risquent de plus me plaire mais pour l'heure les personnages sont incohérents ou n'ont aucune profondeur. Ce qui est dommage car l'histoire pourrait être intéressante. Je n'ai pas envie de me ranger trop facilement derrière l'argument "c'est une série pour enfant aussi faut pas d'attendre à grand chose " car des séries comme seuls, harmony ou les légendaires ont réussis à s'attirer différents types de publics autant ado adulte que enfants !

Quelques parties ont été coupées (surement pour ne pas surcharger) mais du coup il y a des passages un peu sortis de nul part... la fin explique ce qu'il se passe, mais honnêtement en débutant la BD on ne sait pas ce qu'il se passe !

Il manque un enfant ... Un enfant qui contrôle le cerveau des adultes 🤔 dictature et monde des jouets ça fait pas bon ménage je trouve 😂 idée originale cependant. Comme d'habitude les dessins sont très bien construit. J'adore le mystère autour du personnage d'Alice.

J'ai bien aimé cette nouvelle intrigue et celle qui se profile, bien que tous s'enchaînent assez vite, l'histoire reste divertissante.

Sérieusement, l'idée est bonne mais le scénariste a juste OUBLIE DES PANS ENTIERS de l'histoire. Les persos et l'action en deviennent superficiels et illisibles, je ne suis même pas certaine que tout soit logique.
