I really enjoyed this second instalment of the Garcia Brothers series. It was easy going, a nice flow and the plot, even though it is not original it does have its own twists and turns that I didn’t expect to see.
We have Rachel who has always loved Aaron since they were best friends as kids but now Aaron is best friends with Rachel’s brother and they both know because of her brother they cant be together. But will Rachel and Aaron risk it all and try out their love together? Will they succeed or lose each other and everything they hold dear?
Great story, love it just as much as the first, and I can’t wait to read about the next brother’s story
Received a copy from the author herself, for an honest review, thank you!
Second book in the Garcia brothers series. This time we have Aaron and Rachel's story. Combines two YA themes- best friends to lovers and brother's best friend. May seem like the same old story but the author manages to add her own original take as always, drawing on her own cultural background. Latino family who are quite strict and very traditional especially with their daughters. Poor Aaron isn't only up against his best friend but also Rachel's Papi!No mean feat! Will love overcome? It's ,above all, a story about friendship, loyalities, doing the right thing and standing up for oneself. Real emotional stuff with some unexpected twists! It is better to have read the first one as we do meet previous characters and also future protagonists. Obviously we're in the same school and the girls being friends hang out together so their stories are interwoven. Both a coming-of-age and a sports romance, it's ideal for die hard romantics and those who like the sports theme. An added bonus is the final teaser giving us a hint of what's to come in the next installment. This time it will be Cade's turn, the more studious of the family after the two athletic brothers. As a huge fan of Ms Vargas's work, I definitely can't wait! I was lucky to receive an ARC from the author herself
What a cute book. This is the second book in the Garcia brothers series. Aaron is the second to oldest brother who is also athletic like Ben, but is always in his footsteps. He finally gets to shine when Ben decides not to play basketball with Aaron.
Aaron is best friends with David, but has it bad for Davids little sister Rachel. Aaron and Rachel were childhood friends first, but as they got older, they both started hanging out with new friends of the same gender, such as David. They both know they like each other but don't want to risk coming between David and Aaron. So, Rachel decides that she is going to try to stay away from Aaron. When Aaron finally decides that he can't stay away from her, they start dating in secret but end up getting caught.
In the end it worked out. I loved the dialogue between the characters, especially Rachel's father. This was a cute, clean, high-school romance book. I can not wait to read the next book about Cade.
The Garcia brothers! I just love these boys. Aaron has always been in his brother Ben’s shadow but he was always good with it because he had his best friend Rachel. The problem was that he was also best friends with David, Rachel’s brother. Rachel comes from a traditional Puerto Rican family who always treats her as though she is still a young girl instead of a young woman. For years they have kept their feelings for each other to themselves until they decide to take a leap.
This story is about finding out when love is worth it. Family expectations... friend expectations... a gentle push from friends while trying to navigate high school. The angst that YA brings is definitely here I just wish that Rachel would’ve found her strength sooner so that we could have more of their story!
I was really excited to read this book after reading the first book in the Garcia brothers series. It was so easy to fall back into their world and find out about Aaron. Aaron Garcia is just a lad who happens to be in love with his best friend's sister. A best friend who already thinks its wrong to date your best friends sister. I know your thinking this has been done before, However, it doesn't feel like you're reading the same story that's been told before. Aaron and Rachel have their work cut out for them this book has lots of emotion in it and I promise you will enjoy the book, i cant wait to read cade's story.
Rachel and Aaron we best friends before he was her brothers friend. Rachel has always loved him and Aaron had love she'd but was to scared to do anything because of Rachel's brother. They stated hanging out together again and talking but, Rachel's brother see them kissing and KITA Aaron they fuss and then Rachel gets her heartbroken because Aaron lives her and tires to be friends with her brother again its sad I laughed and cried on while reading this but Prom came and Aaron finally went for what he wanted Rachel.. I love these brothers they make us fall had for them even when they aren't trying....
This second book in the series was another quality read. There were some things I liked better than Ben's book and others that I didn't like as much. I liked that Aaron's feelings were pretty clear the whole time. I liked that they brought out the best in each other. I liked that Rachel wasn't quite as bubbly as Scarlett. There is nothing wrong with bubbly but it is harder for men to relate to the character when they are bubbly. I wasn't a huge fan of Rachel's lack of reasoning skills or the weakness of their conflict. Still, it was a great story.
This is great advice in general but it’s one of my favorite moments in this book because it happens at a crucial moment and comes from a very unexpected source. It’s full of sweet exciting moments mixed with suspense and drama. I’ll definitely read it again and will recommend it to everyone because I’m sure, you’ll fall in love with the García brothers too. Can’t wait for the next installment. The introduction is fantastic!
I originally found this author when looking for a brothers best friend rom. Found another book from another series she wrote and have been hooked sense! Flew therew those and these 2. Arron and rachels story is sweet, tortured, real and full of a little bit of everything I love it. I can not wait to read more from the brother's and wait paciently until the next one comes out !
After reading Ben's story I was really excited about Aaron's, so I am a bit disappointed that it wasn't as great as I expected... Maybe it's the fact that the plot was somehow similar to #BreakingTheRules aka my favourite Yesenia Vargas book? So my expectations were very very high? I don't know... What I know is that despite it all I enjoyed the book and will most definitely be waiting for the next García brother story 😊
I really liked the first book of this series. This one was a bit of a let down. I give the 1st half of the book 2 stars and the last half 3 stars. So to be generous I’ll give the whole book 3 stars but it’s really 2.5. The whole “oh my god we can’t tell my brother” thing just dragged on and on!! The series is sweet and great for someone who doesn’t want sex or bullying in their books.
