Auctioned: An Omegaverse Anthology

Rate this book
Algar-Din

Crown jewel of the Rathsima Empire. Home to the finest flesh markets in the galaxy.

To be featured in a market square auction during the Unity Festival meant only the highest class of clientele would have the opportunity to bid.

It was a reassurance that meant very little to the men, women, and aliens who were forced onto that stage and made to listen as the crowd decided how much – or little – their lives were worth.

The most one could hope for was a merciful owner.

But what if they found their mates instead?

~~~~~
This fabulous group of authors has joined together to bring you an Omegaverse/Sci-Fi crossover anthology filled to the brim with all the dark and naughty fun you've come to expect from these genres. All kinds of unique relationships between dynamics can be found within, as well as a variety of orientations.
One thing they all have in common?
That Alpha growl.
This book is set in a world where criminal and questionable behavior is prevalent. There will be strong language, violence, and the occasional scene of assault that may trigger some readers. You may cringe, you may cry, you may rage, but if you can bear to fight through that darkness, HEA's (for most) wait for you on the other side. PROCEED WITH CAUTION.You have been warned.
Wife and mother of four, my days have been reduced to begging for the littlest to sleep so I can have time to write my books. I'm blaming my reduced schedule on Cupcake.
Facebook is the best place to find me, or you can sign up for my newsletter here (https://leannryans.com) to keep up with current and upcoming projects as well as special promotions and such.
I grew up on Sci-fi and Fantasy books with some of my favorite authors being Anne McCaffery and Mercedes Lackey. In 2013 I discovered paranormal romance and delved into a whole new world. After reading Omegaverse stories from Addison Cain and Nora Ash, I had the idea for The Omega Prize and decided to take a shot at writing a book of my own. The beginning was rough, it took two months to write the first five chapters, but as my 2019 New Year’s resolution I said I was going to finish the story and committed to writing every day. It didn't take long for the book to begin telling itself, and from there I just kept going.
Most of my books are Omegaverse, but they span other genres like Sci-Fi, dystopian, and historical barbarians. There is even a small-town Enemies to Lovers Romance story in there. They main contain dark elements but I wouldn't call them dark romance since my alphas tend to be a little mushy in the center. I promise there's always a HEA.
4.5 STARS!!
Fabulous anthology of short Omegaverse stories.
Of course, be warned: this genre is a trigger minefield.
I loved how the 7 authors took the same premise and each came up with a totally different story within a very specific genre.
===> 5 of the 7 stories I REALLY enjoyed.
===> 1 of the 7 stories was AMAZING! I'm looking at you, MEREL PIERCE!
===> 1 of the 7 was terrible (but only 1!)
Overall, if you're into Omegaverse, this anthology is definitely worth your time and money!
Auctioned: An Omegaverse Anthology
This is my first and only Anthology that I've completed and reviewed each of the story. I found these short stories enjoyable and an opportunity to understand new Omegaverse authors. These stories have all kinds of pairings and shifts in dynamics featuring Alpha and Omega. There are aliens and humans set in various situations. Triggers include: vengence, BDSM, violence, nasty killings. Highly recommend this to new Omegaverse readers, these stories may open your bounderies and to old Omegaverse readers, we know we are gobbling whatever little we get. 😉
1. Fight For Her by Raevyn London - 4 stars
Maybe this story was the first read that's why I enjoyed it immediately. An Alpha and Omega find themselves as mates in an auction where they were about to be sold. It was hot and enjoyable. The background description was short but detailed.
2. Unexpected Gift by Leann Ryanns - 3 stars
This is my first Alpha Female and Omega Male pairing. Although I don't enjoy this kind of pairing I got sucked in this authors craftiness - this Alpha female has a tail, a very talented tail. In a way the story was sweet and was well written.
3. The Omega Spy by V.J. Bond - 3.5 stars
An Omega Spy is brought to be sold in auction, she is on a mission under cover. An alpha Commander is captivated by her and buys her. This story has a plot. It is dark and angst filled and has lots of violence. The ending feels like a suspense. I think there are living their HEA somewhere in the space in a space craft?
4. Eli's Hellcat by Merel Pierce - 3 stars
An M/M/F version of Omegaverse. Not so interesting as I thought. Two Alphas and one Omega. The Alphas are already in a relationship, one Alpha is interested in men and the other is bisexual. An Omega who has flaws was about to be disposed. Bisexual Alpha is already interested in her while the gay Alpha has insecuirites. He has doubts and hesitations in sharing his partner with the Omega. After an obstacle they finally are able to form a triad relationship to a happily ever after.
5. Alpha's Pet by Emma Mountford - 3.5 stars
An Omega slave suddenly realises she is Omega on the brink of auction. Her Master scents her in heat and tries to 'molest' her when she attacks him and runs away. Moving in the crowd an Alpha scents her out in heat and sets to claim take her to his planet. This story has a different ending than the rest of the novellas. While all the stories are short this one had an abrupt ending.
6. Proper Behaviour, An Orke War Bride Tale by Isoellen - 4 stars
An Omega banished by her mother to live with her Uncle who has dementia. This Omega has high privileges than the Alphas but she still has disadvantages because she is Omega and is not taken seriously. The Alpha is from another planet who was captured and genetically engineered to a war machine. The Alphas and Omega's dynamic is same but the Alphas and behaviour is tad different. It was a very short read.
7. An Alpha for Dahlia by L.P. Dillon - 2 stars
An Omega disguised by her mother and an Alpha with a plus one. This story dumps lots of surprises and I didn't enjoy it. The heroine was awesome at the beginning but I lost interest in her in the 50 percent of the book. The best part of the story for me is the end; everyone is safe and together.
I read through a few of the stories in this anthology awhile ago. There are already many good reviews for this anthology, so I'm mainly leaving this review for Raevyn London. Her short story was up first. It was a basic, straightforward alien/PNR Omegaverse short story. Solidly written; I think people who like alien PNR who haven't read a lot of Omegaverse yet will like it. Raevyn London is talented at creating an atmosphere of suspense in all the stories I've read by her.
So, I'm really writing this review to beg/plead Raevyn London to return to the world in the short story she wrote, Alpha's Freak Show. (If she's ever so inspired). It's one of my all time favorite Omegaverse short stories. Part of the reason this short story worked for me, is because I'm fascinated by the concept of circuses or freak shows in the medieval time period. It sounds strange, but often the stories featuring these 'freaks' are filled with heart and quite touching. Whether mermaids, albinos, dwarfs, or vampires (which are featured as 'freaks' in White As Snow & Vivia by Tanith Lee) the freaks are often tragic characters and their stories compelling. The idea of a wild Omega as one of the 'freaks' is a brilliant idea. I'm fond of the trope of rare and valuable Omegas, which is in this world as well. Combined with the medieval setting (which Ms. London pulled off so well in Alpha's Freak Show) I'm desperate for more from this world.
I found Emma Mountford's short story beautifully written too. I like a good nonhea from time to time.
This is an anthology of quicker reads, ranging form short story to novella length. I am very hard to please when reading stories of this type, as my enjoyment comes from connecting with the characters and feeling their emotions. Word count constraints can leave me with a feeling that the story could have just been so much more. So, rather than focus on what was lacking (because I WILL feel that for 99% of short reads) I'm looking for the good, highlighting the positive, since I know I won't ever feel the same about a short story/novella as I do a novel.
Fight For Her by Raevyn London
3 stars - Liked it.
This is a pleasant, sweet read of an alpha rescuing his mate, and himself, from the slave arena. The conflict is easily resolved, but then this is a short story in an anthology, so there isn’t the time to develop a full depth story. I felt we got to know Ander’s really well, maybe more so than Kasi, both main characters were likeable and definitely had personality.
I found the authors writing voice easy to get along with, it had a nice tone and flow. The story was entertaining, easy to read and I enjoyed it – so job done.
Unexpected Gift by Leann Ryan
3.5 stars - Definitely liked it.
This was a wonderful twist on the usual Alpha-omega story. I really enjoyed this new take on the dynamic, the emotions portrayed and the integrity of Scarlett. Other than the circumstances in which they met, this is one of the most consensual omegaverse stories I have read.
It was a wonderful, warm and light tale perfect to lift the heart and left me wishing it was a full length story. I'd love to have spent more time with this couple.
The Omega Spy by VT Bonds
4 stars - Really liked it.
This is a darker omegaverse, we don’t experience too much of the non-con directly but it does occur in ‘present’ time. This is more akin to the M/f omegaverse stories many of us are more familiar with. It found this to be a really well thought through and nicely plotted story. There was enough world building to draw me in, and I felt as though I knew both characters. Given the limited ‘time’ of a short story, the author managed to pack a LOT in to this. So much so that I would LOVE to see this expanded into a full length story at some point in the future.
Eli’s Hellcat by Merel Pierce
5 stars - It was amazing.
Another really great story, this focused on three individuals, building their characters and connection to each other. The plot was strong, but pared down to allow for the emotion and depth of the story. Merel Pierce writes strong omegaverse stories, this had dark themes, though within the story itself there is nothing that would require a trigger warning.
Every word, deed and action built into knowing and understanding the characters in this story, particularly Lorin and Eli. I would have loved to have spent more time in Magda's head - I just knew there was so much more to her story than we heard.
It took a conversation with the amazing E.J. Frost E.J. Frost to realise the very subtle themes that ran through this. First was the fact that these alpha's aren't high and mighty but are just everyday guys, #refreshingchange. Second was how limited their 'space' was, from a hot and heavy moment next to the slave cages, to a tiny apartment and a crowded slave carrier, this all reinforced how little true freedom any of them had. Lorin and Eli were almost as much slaves as Magda, except their subjugation came in the form of societal rules, suppressing laws and the real threat of losing what little freedom they enjoyed. Awesome story.
Alpha’s Pet by Emma Mountford
3.5 stars - Definitely liked it.
I wish this story had been a little bit longer, there was a lot of plot to get through and I just needed a little more time on them forming a bond/connection. It’s quite a poignant story and has quite an open to interpretation ending, which won't be for some. I liked Rayne and Elland, I felt as though I got to know them as they are in the now, and the author certainly wrote a story that caught and held my attention.
Proper Behaviour by Isoellen
3 stars - Liked it.
The story of Druku and Niddie was quick and sweet, leaving me wanting to know more about their world. The pace was good and the story flowed nicely. If this was extended to a novella I could see plenty of opportunities for extra scenes that would add extra depth, more understanding and smoother continuity to the story, creating a really great read. However this is still a steamy, entertaining and nicely written story.
An Alpha for Dahlia by L.P. Dillon
3 stars - Liked it.
Dahlia and Bain's story is very sweet and cute. The plot was really interesting and had plenty of great ideas, though some of them had to be a little rushed in order to fit it all in. This is another story that I could picture being extended into at least a novella, if not a full length story. There was an element of tell, not show, about this story, I particularly felt this more towards the end.
My preference is for emotions/feelings etc to be demonstrated through description rather than statement eg "a warmth spread through my body, nerves endings firing, desire coursing through my veins" rather than "he was really attractive". One puts me in a characters head, the other feels like a script being narrated. That's a personal preference though, and as far as characters and storylines go I did enjoy this.
I want to start this review by stating that Anthologies are not enjoyable to me. I find the stories too short to get a good feel for the characters and the stories are usually lacking. The only reason I picked up this one is because of Isoellen. I didn't read all the books in this Anthology because of my personal preferences, but the following are just quick notes about each book:
Fight For Her by Raevyn London
This one was really enjoyable to me, I wished it was longer. I would definitely try a full length book from this author.
Unexpected Gift by Leann Ryans
I only read a couple of chapters for this one. I don't enjoy Alpha Females and Omega Men.
The Omega Spy by V.T. Bonds
I skipped this one due to the authors disclaimer.
Eli's Hellcat by Merel Pierce
Very enjoyable MMF, another one I wish was longer and I wish they had both marked her.
Alpha's Pet by Emma Mountford
Skipped No HEA.
Proper Behavior An Orki Warbride Tale by Isoellen
Enjoyable.
An Alpha for Dahlia by L.P. Dillon
Ok, didn't care for the virgin Alpha.
11/8/20 Reread due to Author Party in GR Omegaverse reading group
I really enjoyed this anthology. Omegaverse is one of my favorite genres. I really enjoyed each author's contribution and I discovered a couple new authors I didn't know. I liked how some of the author's stories slightly intertwined with each others around the slave market, bringing a cohesiveness to the whole anthology. The only thing that I didn't like was that I wanted more of each story, and some left on a slightly cliffhangerish note. Many of these I hope will be a prequel to full length novels from these authors down the road. If you like Omegaverse you will definitely enjoy this.
When I came across this on Goodreads I was intrigued, and excited to see 7 different authors given the same setting and genre, and letting their creativity fly. The blurb said this anthology was only available until July 2020, but since it’s late August… I’m assuming they decided to keep it out a little longer. The book starts with a short introduction that introduces the world/setting that all stories will revolve around; which is a slave auction held during the Rathsima Unity Festival held in the capital city Algar-Din.
1. Fight for Her by Raevyn London – 4 Stars
Ander (Alpha) and Kasi (Omega) have both been kidnapped from their lives and sent to Algar-Din for the slave auction. After being sold, he gets a whiff of something yummy, and realizes that Kasi is his mate. The MC’s have an instant/instinctual connection and are mates from the first sniff. I really liked this one. Ander was overprotective, but also a caring mate that only wanted Kasi safe. Although, they meet as slaves both are not abused, and there’s not a lot of violence. It’s a pretty sweet story; it’s written well, and flows nicely with a cute epilogue 8 months out.
2. Unexpected Gift by Leann Ryanns – 2 Stars
Scarlett is an alpha female celebrating her 30th birthday when her friends take her out, which includes visiting an auction for Omegas where she sees Kralk. Although they shared some sort of connection; this doesn’t have the mate…mine… reaction with an instant imprinting. This concept didn’t work for me like… at all. I know it’s a double standard, but I didn't like the role reversal. I’m not a fan of the female being the growly aggressive dominant, with the male being the stuttering, whimpering, moaning sub. I didn’t like the visual of him having the “slick” with his dripping member; I didn’t like Scarlett ordering him around while calling him “good boy”, and I didn’t like that she was ok with just buying (her friends purchase) a slave then telling him to kneel on the floor. Ugh, double standard I know…sorry… I guess I just expect more from the h’s. Also, where the male alpha is usually overprotective and infatuated with his Omega’s every need; Scarlett came off short-tempered, cold and bossy. It was much shorter than the first story, and there’s an epilogue 6 months out.
3. The Omega Spy by V.T. Bond- 2.5 Stars
The Omega Spy came with a warning, so I knew going in it would be dark. “Omega” (h) enters the auction as a spy on a mission. She’s an undercover badass with weapons/combat training; she also an expert in the “physical” aspects of life. “Alpha” (H) is a commander that happens to buy her. This has limited page time, so there’s only so much she can do, but I was fuzzy on the “spying aspect”, and there were little time/event jumps, but there’s enough action/violence to keep you reading.
This author has a unique writing style; I actually realized I'd read another of her books the first chapter (Unknown Omega) just based on the style. It’s first person, present tense and the first chapters have very descriptive/choppy “my” sentences. my hair is…my lips are…my cheekbones are…my eyes are…etc. There’re also stretches of telling us what’s going on… I do this…I do that...etc. The ending is left a little open-ended. **safety-omega/dub-con w/ 1st interaction, rape and torture by others.
4. Eli's Hellcat by Merel Pierce – 4 Stars
Eli’s Hellcat is my first MMF Omegaverse situation. I rarely read MM romance (not for any particular reason, just doesn’t come up much on my feed) so it was an interesting twist. It follows two alphas (Elias & Lorin) and an Omega (Magda). Eli and Rin are already in a serious relationship (E’s bi-sexual, and R’s gay) when Eli comes across M in the slave quarters. She’s infertile and scheduled to be terminated when Eli decides he wants her.
I really liked this one, because it focuses more on character development, and the emotions/desires of each, but warning, it leaves you without any real solid closure; we get “acceptance”, but I was left wanting more. (Especially because of Rin having no desire to be sexually or in a relationship with Magda.) I really hope the author decides to extend this, because it has a lot of potential to be an great, emotional read.
5. Alpha's Pet by Emma Mountford – 2 Stars
Alpha’s Pet comes with a warning not to expect a HEA, and it delivers. Rayne is attempting to escape the auction when she runs into Elland. Both are very likeable, the story is entertaining, but it stops abruptly with an ending that is open for interpretation; although, most will find it sad. The good news is you haven’t invested hours of time, so the impact isn’t jarring, but if you prefer a HEA, you may want to skip this one.
6. Proper Behaviour, an Orke War-Bride Tale by Isoellen – 3 Stars
Here we have Druku, a genetically engineered alien war machine that is just waiting for death. Niddie has been banished to take care of her Uncle with dementia. The omega/alpha dynamic is the same, but Druku is an alien, and has his own unique behaviors/actions that added a nice twist. I found him really sweet. This is another one that had enough depth that it could easily be extended to a full novella/novel.
7. An Alpha for Dahlia by L.P. Dillon -3.5 Stars
Maybe it’s because this was the last one, but I found An Alpha for Dahlia to have “overlapping” characteristics from the previous books. Baine is also a genetically engineered fighting machine (self-healing, immortal) that was also ready to die like Druku in Proper Behaviour, an Orke War-bride Tale. He had purple eyes with white pupils, similar to Kralk’s in Unexpected Gift, and he had flaming orange hair similar to “Omega” in the The Omega Spy.
Regardless, I liked this one, and found it entertaining. The experienced h, and virgin H was a unique twist. I liked Dahlia; she was feisty in a good way. Bain seemed like a cool dude, but we didn’t get much from him. This one was more sweet, and less steam. **safety the story pretty much opens with the h having sex with an OM, if that kinda thing bothers you…FYI
Bottom line- I liked it, most of the stories were pretty enjoyable. This would be a good place for someone interested into the genre to dip a toe in, because there's a nice balance, and it's free to read with KU.
You MUST read "Eli's Hellcat."
I enjoyed all of the stories in this collection, but Merel Pierce's "Eli's Hellcat" is a standout, not just in this anthology, but among all short stories I've ever read. It's that's good.
Eli's Hellcat features an alpha pair who are already in a fractious relationship, as they find their omega. I loved that these alphas were just "working class Joes." They're constrained by their jobs, society's rules, financial pressures, even the very space in which they live. That made the story feel so real to me. Beyond that, this story is all about sacrificing for the person you love, and it comes out in such wonderful ways through the alphas' interactions. Love isn't always pretty, and this story portrays a love that's sometimes ugly, but always deep and real.
I've already re-read "Eli's Hellcat" about six times since downloading the anthology, and it's going on my permanent "favorite reads" shelf. A must read for lovers of omegaverse, M/M/F, or just a great story. Highly recommended.
I don't even know where to begin with this book... the writing was so amazing in all the stories even the 2 that were not my cup of tea. they were still well written and i know if it had been something i normally read that i would have loved them.
1 of the stories i didn't enjoy just tore my heart to shreds. and this story does have a warning before you read it. so heed it well. if you are the type that must have an HEA skip this part of the book because it will leave you in shreds. very well written! I ugly cried with this part of the book. I so wanted this 1 to have a HEA!
the other story i didn't care for i wont talk about because 1 of my favorite authors wrote it and i don't want her to feel bad. it just wasn't my cup of tea. it was very well written. i just couldn't connect with the characters.
The Omega Spy by V.T. Bonds..all i can say is wow! it was amazing and i want more V.T. Bonds you must write more about this couple for us. I need to know more!
all of the stories are just amazing, and i just can't say enough about them! i would highly recommend this to anybody that loves omegaverse stories!
This anthology opens with the Introduction describing the city of Algar-Din, the capital of Rathsima, the city-state from which these 7 stories rise. Specifically, the stories come out of the “Rathsima Unity Festival” and its annual Rathsima Slave Auction. The Introduction describes the festival as a celebration of “triumph over evil.” While the inclusion of a slave auction within the festivities might be perceived as perplexingly, sadly ironic, it seems it is an example of what this planet’s government will turn a blind eye to if they can profit from it and maintain rule over its vast Empire. This governing Empire has apparently allied itself with other worlds both in and out of the galaxy, so visitors and slaves from many different planets are encountered during the Festival there. The 7 authors have done a great job with creating this world, and I would love to see other works, short stories and/or novels, spring to life from there.
1. Fight for Her – Raevyn London
Ander and Kasi’s story. This story follows a more “traditional” Omegaverse pattern, if there is such a thing. With a typical Alpha and Omega character who, from their first meeting on the auction stage, find themselves acutely attracted to and aroused by one another: they know they are the mates each was destined for. They must have the ability or good fortune to escape the man who purchased them if they are to find their HEA, however. It’s not an easy thing to accomplish when Ander must bring down a formidable opponent in the fighting ring his master has arranged, and when his Omega, Kasi, is in the patron seats, kneeling next to their master, leashed, on the cusp of her first heat. I enjoyed this story, with its pathos and touches of suspense. Overall the plot made sense, and I found the main characters very likable. I would give it 4.5 stars.
2. Unexpected Gift – Leann Ryans
Scarlett and Kralk’s story: The author has crafted a very different take on Omegaverse with this story or, at least, her version is not one I’ve run across before. Scarlett is an Alpha female, a rarity among the dynamics. She is Alpha through and through. She is dominant and assertive. She is unafraid to put rude males in their place if they step out of line with her or any of her Beta girlfriends. The night we meet Scarlett she is out with her friends, celebrating her 30th birthday at a very tony club. A surprise arranged by the girls awaits Scarlett but first, they celebrate with rounds of shots and dancing. When Scarlett asks what the surprise is, her friend Marisha answers “Oh, you’ll find out soon,” and she tugs on Scarlett’s tail. Yes. A tail. Scarlett is apparently very talented with that tail also. The surprise turns out to be a private, and very exclusive slave auction taking place inside the club. And among the goods being auctioned that night is something Scarlett has been wanting for a long time. I found this a very exciting and enticing story. Bravo! I’d love to read more like it. 5 stars, but I'd give it more if I could!
3. The Omega Spy – V.T. Bonds
Another unusual take on Omegaverse. In typical Omegaverse stories, Omegas do not take up careers. Supposedly, the “natural” function of the Omega is to mate with an Alpha and produce and raise another generation of Alphas and Omegas. Only Omegas are able to breed with Alphas, so their purpose is fairly sacred in most OV stories I’ve read. The story that sprung from this author’s mind, though, takes another course. A covert operation is formed to infiltrate a planetary government and retrieve scientific evidence of an impending catastrophic event that will bring about the annihilation of millions of inhabitants. The spy given this mission is—of all things—an Omega female. She is well-trained and a seasoned undercover agent. Her target is a highly-placed Alpha member of the government. Her cover is posing as a pleasure slave who is being sold at the same auction the targeted Alpha commander is attending. Captivated by her, after outbidding everyone, the Alpha bounds onto the stage, releases his Omega prize from her chains, and makes an immediate retreat to his ship with her. Little does this pair know that tremendous change is coming soon to both their lives. This story was packed with action, violence, and a molten-hot love scene! I really relished this story and would be delighted if the author continued it as a longer novel. 5 Stars.
4. Eli’s Hellcat – Merel Pierce
Elias, Magda & Lorin’s story: Here, again, is a story that takes a completely different tack than usual on Alpha/Omega relationships. Maybe there are more unique OV versions out there than I am aware of, but I had never read an M/M/f version of Omegaverse before. The story involves 2 Alphas and an Omega female who has been condemned to “disposal.” That means the powers that be have determined she is no longer useful and she will literally be disposed of, killed by incineration, along with a group of others given the same woeful sentence. This tale explains how the 3 try to meld together into “one fucked-up, happy little family.” I loved it! 5 stars
5. Alpha’s Pet – Emma Mountford
Elland and Rayne’s story: This story involves a female who suddenly reveals as an Omega on the eve of the auction her master/owner has placed her in. He had listed her as a Beta, which is now inaccurate. She has a severe lack of knowledge about the dynamics, and she suffers from a great deal of anxiety and horrible nightmares about being forced into sexual slavery or made to be a breeder. She loses control and commits a violent act, then runs away from the only home she has known in order to escape what she believes will be a horrifying fate. In her run, she is detected by an alien Alpha who sets out to capture her and take her back to his home planet. I’m not sure what to make of this story. I enjoyed it but it did end rather abruptly. Also, I’m uncertain if the ending is the real end of the story or a cliffhanger. If I get a vote on it, then I would ask the author to continue the story, maybe make it into a novella with a better-formed ending. The author did include a disclaimer that not all stories end happily. 4 stars.
6. Proper Behavior, An Orki War-bride Tale – by Isoellen
Nedelia and Druku’s story: Nedelia is an Omega female, but has had to fill the authoritarian position of running her uncle’s ranch since he has fallen into dementia. The Alpha in this story deviates from the usual Alpha we are familiar with because he is from a different species; even more so because he was genetically engineered for the purpose of being a war machine. Druku saves the Omega from the antagonist Zeke and the horrible future Zeke had planned for her. But at what cost to her? She’s no longer in the clutches of the evil Alpha, but now Druku has her! This is also another story I would love to see continued, turned into a novel, or novella. 5 Stars.
7. An Alpha for Dahlia – L.P. Dillon
Dahlia and Bain’s story: A wealthy Beta “princess” decided a long time ago that she wanted to purchase an Alpha slave for herself. As a Beta, she should be attracted to Beta males. She has had relationships with many Betas but has found them all lacking. She wants something “more,” even though she is aware her safety could be at-risk by putting herself in the hands of an Alpha. Her mother is pushing for her to accept her current beau, Beta male Jax. Mom can be quite manipulative, but things change for the worse when Dahlia finds Jax has cheated on her. Other big surprises occur along the way for Dahlia, and that is the best part of this particular story; things happen that you don’t see coming. I think this is a 5-star tale.
There are some really good omegaverse in this anthology. I REALLY loved the alpha female and Male omega story. Probably one of my favorites. But they were all worth reading. Of course the stories seem to range from light to DARK. So there is a little bit for everyone. There is one story in the book that doesn't have a happy ending. And before you read it there is a warning. So if it isn't your thing you can skip it. I thought the author did a good job even if it didn't end in a HEA tho. So I'm glad I went ahead and read it.
Overall if you like Omegaverse I recommend you get this!
This anthology was well timed! All of the authors did a great job telling their story within the Omegaverse genre and I couldn't put it down! Hot and steamy!
Looks like maybe 7 or so stories. I'll review as I go.
I know omegaverse stories have the common trope of "heat" mating. I usually have a hard time with this so we'll see if any of these authors can convince me it's sexy to be so mindlessly driven to have sex that you barely have any idea who you are having sex with and there is almost never any actual intimacy. I don't have high hopes that any of these will actually manage any real romance. I'll give 5 stars to any story in this anthology that makes it through the story without over using the word "slick" and 10 stars to one that can make it through without using the word at all.
2 Stars. Fight for Her by Raevyn London. This is just one handed pron. Some early world building, I guess but the majority of this is mindless "heat" sex between the two MC's and it goes on forever and like all omegaverse stories the "slick" is abundant and left on surfaces everywhere.
3 Stars. Unexpected Gift by Leann Ryans. This is a reverse of the usual. Scarlett is an Alpha female who is gifted an omega male slave. Points to the author for trying to make Scarlett a "woke" owner but once Kralk goes into heat and starts continually dripping and "slicking" up the place I was grossed out. This story also makes use of the tail that Scarlett has in interesting ways for Kralk.
2.5 Stars. Omega Spy by V.T. Bonds. The disclaimer on this is for dark/violent which it is. This has a brutal rape and torture scene. I was okay with that but what bothered me was the reason for it... there wasn't any really given. They wanted information, but how did they know she was a spy? Since we don't get any of that info, it was all just gratuitous and I didn't like it. This was an ambitious story that was never meant to be told as a short story.
3.5 Stars. Eli's Hellcat by Merel Pierce This is mmf. I've read a lot of m/m books and I'm not a fan of internal homophobia and posturing, especially within the relationship. I know that many liked this story best, and frankly, it was the closest to having some intimacy and romance but Lorin was really hard to like. That said, I feel like things will work out. This also should have been a much longer book. Bonus for not using "slick" too often in the story and not being all heat driven sex.
3 Stas. Alpha's Pet by Emma Mountford Not an HEA and yet, still a good story and a story I found romantically sad.
2 Stars. Proper Behavior by Isoellen The Alpha H in this was an alien with tusks and some other attributes that I found hard to imagine how they worked with a human woman. He was probably the most inflexible and dominant male in this anthology. I felt like Niddie completely lost herself in this story and found that sad.
2 Stars. An Alpha for Dahlia by LP Dillon The premise for this was too hard to suspend disbelief and then add in that not only is the H who he is, but also a father and a virgin. I just couldn't get past how awkward this whole story was.
So... no 5 star or 10 star books in this anthology. Not terrible but all cliche and unimaginative omegas when it comes right down to it. Maybe the Omega Spy had a chance to have a unique story but even she got reduced to nothing but a sex doll object. Bleh.
This is an absolutely amazing omegaverse anthology written by some very talented authors & I will admit that this collection drew me in from the first page and kept me captivated until the last page was turned. The story-lines & plots of all the books in this collection are well-thought out and written with some interesting & unexpected events. Some of them have satisfying conclusions while others seem to end in a bit abruptly. The various characters are well-developed with individual personalities & display realistic/believable emotional feelings & moods suited to the situations they find themselves in.
There is: aliens, humans, auctions, slavery, alphas/omegas, secrets, mystery, intrigue, suspense, drama, vengeful feelings, deceit, adventure, action, danger, threats, conflict, violence, possessiveness, vulnerability, humiliation, punishment, spankings, some BDSM, heartache, emotional turmoil, anguish, unexpected allies, determination, confrontations& steamy scenes. I would definitely recommend this omegaverse anthology to people who enjoy reading this genre & I really doubt that you would be disappointed.
Fight for Her by Raevyn London: 3.5 Stars
New author to me. Well written and detailed. Good world building. Really set the scene with limited descriptions. The Alpha & Omega couple was cute and got their HEA. Definitely enjoyed this one but given its length and that the MCs were trying to escape their slave owner for 90% of the book I didn't connect to them as much as I would've liked. The Alpha/Omega connection and sexiness was there, for sure, but they didn't get to connect on a more "human" level with verbal communication. These two literally let their instincts guide them and fall in love. No conflict at all. I wasn't quite use to that with Omegaverse tbh but it was kind of nice too.
Unexpected Gift by Leann Ryans: 2 Stars
Read quite a bit by Leann and I've enjoyed most of her previous work. This one was well written and flowed nicely. The female Alpha/male Omega was a different dynamic for sure. I'm not a big fan of the switch up from the classic MF Alpha/Omega dynamic but I decided to stick with it since it was fairly short read. It was a little sweet but honestly I didn't feel connected to either MCs so I wasn't all that invested in their HEA.
.
.
.
The Omega Spy by V.T. Bonds: 2 (half-read) Stars
I read the introduction and then jumped about halfway through and read from there to the end. Didn't exactly know how the MCs got to that point but it was fairly easy to understand. It was darker and angsty compared to the previous books. Writing seemed good from what I did read, just wasn't all that interested so I skimmed.
.
.
.
Eli's Hellcat by Merel Pierce: 3 Stars
Yeesh MMF, MFM or menage in general is not my cup of tea. I was disappointed when I realized this was the theme of this story if I'm honest. I did finish it because I adored Merel's debut book so much. I'm not sure what I feel about it 😆. It was well written and I actually felt for the heroines predicament at the beginning. I did not like Lorin at all but the author did a wonderful job making me feel his insecurities and emotions when it came to sharing Eli. I actually would've liked a few more chapters tbh but it was a cute read that was outside my comfort zone but I don't regret giving it a chance.
.
.
.
Alpha's Pet by Emma Mountford: 2.5 Stars
Okay that was RUDE. Who ends their story like that?!?! Ugh! Just leave a girl hanging. I could've definitely read this story as a full novel. That ending sucked though. Grr. Coulda been 3.5 !
.
.
.
Proper Behavior by Isoellen: 1.5 Stars
I've enjoyed a few books/WattPads by this author before but this particular story was a weird one for me. I didn't really connect with either MCs and the male MC for an alien sounded super strange looking and my head just could not settle on that visualization. Writing was good as always, just wasn't a fan of the story itself.
.
.
.
An Alpha for Dahlia by L.P Dillon: 1.5 Stars
Eh, not really what I was hoping for. Started out great and interesting but basically once she buys her Alpha it snowballed into a mess. I don't know. It seemed serious and then oh she's actually an Omega and her mom lied to her (with good reason tbh) and the Alpha slave she bought is her mate and he has as daughter but he's a virgin (complicated story lol). And really the thing that bugged me most was the lightness of the characters in the final chapters. Weird, right? I don't like shy virgin Alphas. What is that?? After she bought him that's when it lost my interest because it stopped reading as an Omegaverse book for me but as a contemporary style romance with all the YA giggling, virgin dude and tickling...I kid you not. The author had good intentions but maybe she can find a way to stick true to the original tone of the story she starts in the future.
This Omegavers anthology is amazing and a bit of pur reading fun. All 7 authors did a great job, the stories, their storytelling, the different combinations and the intriguing dynamics also some point of view on this genre are awesome and fanatic composed.
Fight For Her by Raevyn London
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Sweet little fluffy story with action, emotion, heat and HEA - well written, good composed and a very delightful entertainment - it warmed myself and made me feel sooo good.
Unexpected Gift by Leann Ryans
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
It's the first story I read about Leann Ryans, even though some of her are on my TBR list, she just pushes herself forward in this collection and I am thrilled, more than satisfied and surprised. a wish was fulfilled once in a while: Omegavers with she-alpha and he-omega
Perfect, delicious and for me wonderfully translated into the swapped roles
Very well written, captivating and told with a slight wink and oh so beautiful.
The Omega Spy by V.T. Bonds
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Captivating, exciting, action-packed and steamy - this author is new to me but I am definitely so excited that I will read her “Skylar’s Story” (1-3) as soon as possible. Great narrative style that creates a deep connection to the characters, who are consistently believable.
Eli’s Hellcat by Merel Pierce
🌟🌟🌟🌟
Delicious and entertaining and very well placed in this collection around the Rathisma Slave Market with a story that includes the guards working the pens in the holding halls. This trio had a captivating dynamic very well designed and written.
Alpha‘s Pet by Emma Mountford
🌟🌟🌟
A sweet and sad little story - so maybe I am a sucker for a HEA or at least a HFN and it was so close but to my but to my horror and dissatisfaction, the author has refused me. No epilogue, no sentence. And everything would have been possible, certain death or a glimmer of hope up to a miraculous healing... nothing
Just the last sentence: Then there was nothing.
Well, that colours my judgement even though there was a disclaimer that there isn't always a happy ending, but no ending at all?
...and then there were only three stars and then nothing!
Proper Behavior by Isoellen
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Unexpected beautiful with power and with an intriguing alien race of the Orki - sure I want more of them, they seem so primitive and straightforward - a bit more than delicious - oh and some moments and dialogs keeps me smiling
An Alpha For Dahlia by L.P. Dillon
🌟🌟🌟🌟
This was a really good story with a interesting combination of the characters, in various areas experienced but total innocent in the current situation. Delicious, interesting, captivating, entertaining and some winking fun!
A review for the entire anthology:
Fight For Her - Raevyn London: Ander was captured to be sold a a slave. He kept sensing a smell that drove him crazy. Meanwhile Kasi was to be sold also but she was betrayed by her sister. Ander finally found the scent. It was the scent of his mate. Nothing could keep him from her. So his owner bought her also so he could exploit Ander to fight. All hell breaks loose. They escape. Read on to see how it all ends.
Unexpected Gift - Leanne Ryans: Scarlette is a rarity, she is a female Alpha. It was Scarettes's birthday and to celebrate her friends took her out to an exclusive club. Also that evening they attended an auction. Kralk has been in servitude the majority of his life. Some good and others not so nice. He liked the private auctions as chances were these people would not abuse him. Kralk was let on stage. Scarlette liked what she saw and Kralk also noticed only her. Her friends saw this and got him for her. She was awestruck by him and him by her. What will the outcome be for this Omega male and Alpha Female?
The Omega Spy - V.T. Bonds: Omega was a trained spy. She was sent to retrieve a document. Things don't exactly go as planned. She ends up finding her mate. Alpha has to have her and he'll move heaven and earth to get her. It isn't easy either. They go through all obstacles to be together.
Eli's Hellcat - Merel Pierce: Lorin and Elias were guards who looked after those to be auctioned. Then there were the rejects, they were to be disposed of. Elias liked a certain reject, Magda. Lorin and Elias were already in a relationship. Will Lorin be able to tolerate Elias being with the Omega? Nice short story.
Alpha's Pet - Emma Mountford: Rayne was a slave but an Omega. She ended up murdering her master and was on the run. Elland who had be purchasing Omegas to bring back to their planet to be mated. He smelled her and immediately ran to her and saved her. He took her to his ship. Rayne had not wanted to be mated but they were boarded and they were looking for her. Read to find how it ends.
Proper Behavior - Isolellen: Druku was supposed to die, a reject. But was again sold off, on the black market. Those who bought him were making plans to take over the House of Alger-Din. Meanwhile Nedeliah, aka Niddie, was staying at her Uncle's estate and helping him. Some thing horrible happens to her but Druku is there to save the day. Find out what happens.
An Alpha for Dehlia - L.P. Dillion: Dehlia wanted to go to an auction to buy an Alpha and she caught her so-called boyfriend cheating on her with her best friend. She went to the auction. Then her mother caught up with her. In between the fight they had she ended up buying an Alpha. She was awestruck by him and him by her. Then something happened to her unexpectedly. Bain was the Alpha but he can as a package deal. Secrets are revealed. Can there be happiness for Dehalia and Bain?
A collection of Omegaverse novellas? However can I pass it up?
FIGHT FOR HER by RAEVYN LONDON
Since most Omegaverse are sort of insta-love, it's the only kind I can accept without making a fuss due to the whole Alpha-Omega primal bonding factor. In FIGHT FOR HER, we meet Ander who is captured from his village and sold as a fighting slave. At the auction, he meets his fated Omega whom his Master purchases too just as an incentive for Anders who willingly volunteers to fight as a gladiator if their new Master gives him his mate. The whole thing was pretty quick. Ander fights once in the arena, and soon they are rescued by his brother and then the whole Alpha-Omega bonding sex begins.
UNEXPECTED GIFT by LEANN RYANS
Unexpected indeed! This was the first time I ever read an Alpha female meets male Omega story. Can't say I liked it. I'm not a fan of the Alpha Female variety...just seems oddly against nature when Alpha males mating with Omega females are wayyyy sexier and hot. But, then again this is my own personal preference. Our heroine, Scarlett is an Alpha female who is gifted with an Omega male slave on her 30th birthday and she doesn't know what to make do with him, until he goes into heat and they become mates. LOL. Truly, the story was as simple as that. In fact, all the stories are very basic and there's zero relationship building at all.
THE OMEGA SPY by V.T. BONDS
Okay, after 3 stories of non-emotional romances that's mainly focused on sex...I'm just not feeling it anymore. This one was pretty smutty I guess. The alpha buys the Omega from an auction but in truth she's an omega spy sent to retrieve something vital, if I'm not mistaken. They have sex and midway through, they were captured and bla bla bla....I didn't quite catch the end.
OVERALL I think I'm going to revisit the rest of the stories when I have a mood for it. Otherwise, it's quite repetitive and focused merely on sex. I want something more to go with the story honestly.
This is awesome. I would recommend it over and over. I have read works by a few of the authors before so I knew that they would be great. The authors whom I have never read before went above my expectations and I will be looking for more stuff from them in the future. So all in all this is a great book.
Well wasn’t that fun! I thoroughly enjoyed this anthology and the range of Omegaverse stories and styles by the different authors. If you are new to the OV than this is the perfect way to dip a toe into the waters so to speak! I thought myself a veteran OV reader but even I found a couple of new ways to experience the world that I love . 💝
This novel is an anthology of seven omegaverse stories that take place in one city and center around the auction house. Most of the stories center around the night or nights of a yearly festival, however, others are based on the theme of the auctions that take place in the city of Algar-Din in the Rathsima Empire. This review will give a short overview of each story in the anthology and my opinion.
The first story was “Fight For Her” written by Raevyn London. Ander is an alpha fighter that has been captured after his village is raided. He is being sold at the local auction when he finds his mate. Kasi is an omega that has been hiding her dynamic for a number of years. She finds herself being transported to the local auction for sale after one of her family members turns her in. She never thought she would meet her mate at a slave auction. Both Anders and Kasi are purchased by an androgynous-looking male owner that wants to use Anders as a fighter. The owner will let Anders keep Kasi as long as he wins every fight, he is put in. This is my first time reading anything by this author. The story was not long. It was concise but action-packed. Things happened quickly in this story and there is an epilogue for the HEA. I enjoyed the read and found the characters to be typical of their dynamics as in most omegaverse works. I do not think anything particular stands out about either character.
“Unexpected Gift” by Leann Ryans was the second story in the novel. Scarlett is a female alpha that spends her time with her female friends and fighting off advances from omega females. Her relationships with alpha males usually do not last long and omega males are rare. On the night of her birthday, her friends take her to a private auction and purchase her a male omega, Kralk. Kralk has been in the slave world for a long time. He has been a pleasure slave, used as a breeder, and mistreated by many of his owners. He wants to be sold to a private auction owner and not given over to the public auctions where he could end up as a pleasure house slave. This is the first female alpha-male omega story that I have read. The chemistry between Kralk and Scarlett is instant and intense. His desire to please her and her desire to dominate but be taken care of was an interesting dynamic to read. The intimate scene between them was an explosion! This story ends on a HEA with a sweet epilogue to boot.
Author VT Bonds authored the third story of “The Omega Spy”. This story was interesting to me since the characters were simply referred to as “Omega” and “Alpha”. The omega is a genetically enhanced omega that has been a spy for her people for several years. Her current enhancements were done to attract Alpha. The Alpha is also a genetically modified male. There is a lot of physical activity in this novel. There are bad guys that must be defeated and love to be conquered. The story alternates between the point of view of Alpha and Omega, so you get to read each character’s take on what is happening. Although this story ends on a HEA, to me it was a real HEA fraught with tragedy and trauma.
“Eli’s Hellcat” by Merel Pierce was the most interesting story of the lot for me because it added a relationship dynamic that is not always seen in omegaverse novels. Eli is an alpha that works as security at a private auction house. His partner is Lorin, also an alpha. Eli and Lorin keep their relationship private because they work together and although this is the future, their relationship is still frowned upon. Omega 817 is one of the omega’s that is being sold at the auction house. Due to her unique issues, she has been sold and exchanged many hands multiple times. She and Eli find they are attracted to each other. Lorin does not like sharing, but he loves Eli. I loved this novel because of Lorin. He was described as the largest and most uncontrollable alpha, however, when it came to Eli, he was a huge teddy bear. He is the type of guy that gets you exactly what you ask for no matter what the cost or risk. This omegaverse thruple story ends on a HEA, but I did not want it to end. I wanted to see how they do as time goes by. This story was my favorite and wish there had been more to it.
The fifth story was “Alpha’s Pet” by Emma Mountford. Rayne is a late-blooming dynamic that decides to run to escape her destiny of being bonded to an alpha. Elland is the captain of the Auria planet army that comes to the auction to purchase omegas to take back to his planet. Through circumstance and chance, Elland and Rayne cross paths and destiny begins. This story was my least favorite because of the ending. The author gives a disclaimer at the beginning of the story, but I don’t think the reader is ready for the ending. I am not a fan of happily for now (HFN) stories. The story was well written despite the ending and drew the reader into the story.
The sixth story, “Proper Behavior: An Orki-War Bride Tale” by Isoellen was the funniest of the stories in this anthology. Druku is a genetically engineered interspecies warrior that is being sold at the auction. He was not actually supposed to be sold, but due to greed, he was sold instead of sent to the death yards. He is taken to the remote farm of the uncle of Nedeliah. Nedeliah is an omega that has been sent to her demented uncle’s remote farm as punishment. Nedeliah’s foreman has decided that it is time for Nedeliah to go into heat. He does not count on Druku to want his own freedom at that exact moment. This is another action-packed story interspersed with humorous moments as Druku bosses Nedeliah around and threatens all the males, alphas, and betas, with death if they look at his mate. Nedeliah expects her mother to simultaneously save and condemn her. However, her mother is quietly impressed with the warrior alpha. I enjoyed this story a lot because of the demanding, hulking presence of Druku and the prissy, high born mannerisms of Nedeliah. He melts her icy exterior like a stick of butter in a microwave. As usual, Isoellen did not disappoint and delivered a quirky story with strong characters.
Lastly is “An Alpha for Dahlia” by LP Dillon. Dahlia (aka Lia) has been dating beta men her entire life, but she longs for the dominance of an alpha. Everyone around her discourages her from pursuing her desire for an alpha. After witnessing an emotional betrayal by those close to her, she goes to the private auction, where she gets into a verbal altercation that leads to the accidental purchase of an alpha slave, Bane. The purchase sets off a chain of events that Dahlia did not see coming. This story was okay for me. I felt the issue between Dahlia and her mom was quickly resolved. The relationship between Bane and Dahlia did not present as the usual alpha-omega relationship in the previous stories. For me, it read more like a regular romance. The author tried to explain why this dynamic happened. There was also a twist to this story that was briefly explained. However, if this story were longer, I would like to see the emotional distress play out over the conflicts in this story. Overall, the story was nicely written, interesting, and engaging.
I’m a huge fan of anthology romance, and these stories didn’t disappoint. Each author does and amazing job of sucking you right in and not letting you go until it’s over. You won’t be disappointed reading this book. I was drawn into each author’s world over and over. This anthology is really good and hit’s all my favorite spots. Each book has its own story but also has the problems Omegas face in a world of Alphas. The books also have their own epilogue. However, in the following book it picks right back up at the slave auction without missing a beat. Auctioned is an amazing read with each element putting you in the very center of the slave auction world. The entire book is intriguing and very hard to put down. It gets five stars and I recommend this read. Loved! I’m hoping each book will get sequels.
I enjoyed them!
I absolutely loved this anthology! Some were more to my liking than others, but I think each one brought something special. I also love finding new authors, and this anthology introduced me to a couple I have never come across. Extra bonus for that! :D
I hope we get more!!
Fight for her - ⭐️⭐️⭐️
It was a short and sweet story. I found the fighting aspect a bit lacking since Ander only fought once in the ring and it was against a pretty weak Beta. There could have been more fighting but oh well.
Unexpected gift - ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
Wow. I loved the dynamic of the two, not used to reading book with dominant females (even more with alpha females). While the story was short I felt like it was complete, the ending seemed a little like jumping off a cliff into the epilogue.
The Omega spy - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Woah. That book was good, I liked how there was no names the entire time it made the book seem better for some reason. The darkness wasn’t too bad especially they way it was written, and I loved the way it was written.
Eli’s Hellcat - ⭐️⭐️⭐️
It felt like the damn story ended before it began. The relationship was a good on though, and hot (also out of the norm). It would’ve been nice to have a conclusive ending and more backstory.
Alpha’s pet - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
What a story, my heart is breaking after the ending. It’s not a happy ending in the least but I still wished it got dragged out more for more heartbreak of Elland. The two barely got to meet before life ripped them apart, even if it was kinda the girls fault.
Proper behavior - ⭐️⭐️⭐️
What a beast. I’m still confused about Druku and his origins, it would be nice for more of an explanation. It was short and sweet enough for a book, not dark just something. I’ve figured out the story is from a series, or based on a series by the author so I assume upon reading the series I would understand the book more. Damn.
An alpha for Dahlia - ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Damn. I was shocked reading this book, there was a few twist that had me reeling. I think what really got me was Bain. He was a freaking super soldier!
Overall I enjoyed the book, most of them I felt could’ve been longer but it’s in anthology so take it with a grain of salt.
They were good and some of these stories I would read a continuation or series about.
Ok this book was beyond fantastic
I loved everything about this anthology. Wow. These stories were great. Spy omegas and male omega slaves were such a pleasant surprise. One jacked up alpha and his daughter to another heart wrenching story of love lost. Wow what an emotional so roller coaster. Each other brought their own unique story to the mix. These stories had plots I had never read before. If you love alphas read thjs. If you love hot sex scenes and undeniable chemistry read this book. Amazing authors, amazing stories, amazing collaboration.. Five stars! It is an exciting time right now in the omegaverse world.
