When the sexist husband of a famous children's writer is stabbed in the back during a party in their penthouse, eccentric detective Clive Richter and his precocious daughter, Eloise, are called into action. What kinds of secrets are the party guests hiding? Why is the victim's wife the only woman who has anything nice to say about him? And what role does a burnt scrap of paper found at the scene have to do with this heinous and bloody murder? Whatever the answer, the Richters must work fast before another victim meets a swift and brutal end.
The return of the Richters. A real homage to the age of Agatha Christie. It's a little darker than the author's previous detective story, but it remains just as intricate and and really makes you think about how easily people stereotype and leap to conclusions. The characters are just as engaging and eccentric, if not more so, and maintain the same playful banter.
