The 3D scenes showing the exact setups are genius. Without them I would have no clue what the text is talking about. The wide selection of types of photos is also great. Other than that, there's not that much to write home about. The Dutch translation is really stilted, most of the text reads like fluff saying stuff like "the strong light is used to make the subject brighter". The book also barely talks about composition, it's almost only about light. It also has a lot of info about the types of film, which isn't useful at all. The book i have was published in 2010 and I don't think it was even useful then.

Lastly, the book pretends to be split in 3 chapters (portrait, fashion, glamour), but there isn't much of a difference in the types of pictures. There are closeup portrait photos in the fashion chapter, which make no sense. The glamour chapter has a couple of nudes and I guess that's it. All chapters also have 2 pages with explanation but this also all reads as fluff "communicate with the model", "you can use a ton of accessoires"...

I learned a lot about lighting setups definitely, but not much more than that.
