To say I'm disappointed in this book is a massive understatement. I'm not sure what went wrong but I do know where the wheels started falling off this series and it was in book 4. It feels as if the author is writing too many books at once and has lost the voice of this character and where she wanted this series to go.
She is by far too fixated on making the men who interact with Poppy into amoral pigs. The non-relationship between Poppy and Mark has stuttered so much that I no longer care. It's so stuttered that Poppy actually believed that Mark would bed another woman. Why wouldn't he? All the other men in her life have. I'm over that.
I'm also over the whole way this agency treats her. They don't respect her. They think she has zero talent or skills. They don't pay her. They won't train her. She has to beg for firearms with which to defend herself because she's that dispensable to them. They're all using her and it's way past time that she developed a spine and told them to take a hike.
She's not "helping", she's being used and they wouldn't hesitate to cut their losses with her and leave her to die. This "agency" has made that abundantly clear.
Then there are the inconsistencies in this book. These go way beyond the normal ones that happen when a book is reformatted into an electronic one (missing words, misspellings, etc). No, this is things like name changes. In one passage, Mark runs after Ian. Too bad that Ian is in the hospital and he's actually running after Jean-Claude... sigh.
Then there is George Gladstone. In book 5, you know the one RIGHT BEFORE THIS ONE!, he gets shot and presumably dies. The body disappears so he may still be alive. Yet when his name resurfaces in this book (immediately after the previous one in the book timeline), nobody mentions that he was last seen dead. You'd think that Poppy would at least have a thought "Oh hey! I saw him get shot and killed. What's he doing still around?" But no, she doesn't. Not even a passing thought. It's as if the author already forgot that detail.
I'd give this book a lower rating except for two things.
1 - I actually finished it. I wanted to see how it would end and if Mark/Poppy would finally have some movement in their relationship. Real movement. Movement past a couple of kisses.
2 - I like Poppy. I love Poppy. She's a great character who deserves so much more than what she's been given in these books. I keep hoping that the tide changes for her. That others start seeing what an amazing person she is and how invaluable she is to this organization. Only Mark and to some extent Yurgi seem to realize that.

Another great book by Julie Mulhern and a welcome addition to the Poppy Fields series.
In the Caribbean, on an idyllic island, Poppy should have been able to apply herself wholeheartedly to the forthcoming nuptials of her mother, Chariss, and Russian billionaire, Yurgi. But, as always, when Poppy is around, unintentional (fatal) mayhem follows. This time it is international money-launderers that threaten to upset the apple cart. And if that were not enough – add in a super-assassin and Poppy’s nemesis, Diaz of the Sinaloan drug cartel.
Poppy needs everything to be perfect for Chariss – never the most forgiving of divas:
She is soon juggling so many potentially dangerous, wedding-ruining balls that she, and her friends/colleagues have no time to think. Then the wedding planner goes missing:
Poppy does have two top allies to help her:
and Consuela, the ‘talkative’ (she gets as much dialogue as Thor) silky-haired wonder-dog:
Miraculously, the wedding does go ahead. The party is stuffed with Russian oligarchs, Hollywood’s finest, Poppy’s friends - and Jimmy Buffett. But, Poppy cannot let her guard down for a moment:
Will Poppy ever get Thor alone, without a major international incident waiting to explode?
Poppy and Thor’s relationship is gradually blooming, my respect for Yurgi is growing, Consuela – despite her diminutive size – is proving more useful than a loaded pistol, and Chariss is looking more like a real human. I loved this book, and recommend the whole series unreservedly.

“She wasn’t above attacking a stranger, and while she might look cute, in her heart she was a killer Chihuahua.”
“I would have liked to add that she never made unprovoked attacks, but Consuela was more of a bite first, ask questions later dog.”
Miraculously, the wedding does go ahead. The party is stuffed with Russian oligarchs, Hollywood’s finest, Poppy’s friends - and Jimmy Buffett. But, Poppy cannot let her guard down for a moment:
“We were too exposed, and Minty, who was married and nearly twice his age, was staring at Thor as if he were a popsicle she couldn’t wait to lick. According to Chariss, Minty was a popsicle-licking expert.
Will Poppy ever get Thor alone, without a major international incident waiting to explode?
Poppy and Thor’s relationship is gradually blooming, my respect for Yurgi is growing, Consuela – despite her diminutive size – is proving more useful than a loaded pistol, and Chariss is looking more like a real human. I loved this book, and recommend the whole series unreservedly.

Love this series! It’s in the “read them again” category of my favorite romantic action adventure romps. Poppy Fields is a fantastic protagonist.

Bombs, bullets, a famous bridezilla, and more! Can Poppy handle it all?
Set on Grand Cayman, Poppy, and Thor, I mean Mark, have arrived for her mom’s wedding and all the pre-wedding festivities. But it isn’t long before Poppy finds herself in hot water. Soon Mr. Brown is involved and in addition to all her bridal duties, she and Mark are on a case chasing down a huge money-laundering scheme and trying to catch a murderer. Oh, and the wedding planner has been abducted. You know, just a normal week in the life of Poppy Fields.
I have loved this entire series but Fields’ Guide to Dirty Money has to be my favorite.
Chariss and Yurgi are getting married and guests are arriving from Hollywood and Russia to celebrate the big event. Unfortunately, they are not the only ones arriving on Grand Cayman Island. Drug dealers, money launderers, and a murderer have joined the party.
The author has continued the fantastic character development of the core characters while introducing great characters readers love to hate. Poppy is getting more confident and the powers that be, start to notice. Her relationship with her Thor is heating up. I just hope they get some real alone time together soon. Yurgi was my favorite character this time. An incredibly wealthy, strong, patient man, that truly loves Chariss and all her drama while becoming a true friend to Poppy. He covers for her with her mother and spares no expense to keep her safe.
Again, the story is action-packed and impossible to put down. It is a roller coaster ride from start to finish.
Set in the idyllic Cayman Islands, this story made for a wonderful virtual vacation as the weather here gets brisk and windy. I curled up with a blanket and took off on another entertaining adventure with Poppy and her family, friends, and enemies.
Julie Mulhern is a terrific storyteller. Fields’ Guide to Dirty Money and this whole series are must-reads for me. Each book can be read on its own but I recommend you read the series from the start in order for maximum enjoyment.
Look for this book on my Best Reads of 2020. It receives my Paradise Rating, just like every other book in this series. You truly can’t go wrong with a book by this author.

3.2 stars on this one, not because I hated the book but because I feel there’s little to no progress in certain areas. Poppy is attending the wedding of her mother and Yergi and of course 🙄 she stumbles into a murder that also happens to be a major undercover op. From there we are introduced to a series of zany, fun, sometimes irritating side characters and the bullets start flying abs the bodies start falling.
One of my pet peeves with this book and a lot of other books was the author’s attempt to plant seeds of doubt as to the morality and ethics of Thor (Mark) knowing that Poppy has issues with the men in her life who have lied, cheated, abandoned, belittled, not appreciated her etc. in prior books, Thor has been a stand up guy who appreciates Poppy for who she is, values her input, etc, so the attempt here to paint him as a potential “cheater” just cheapens the plot and the relationship to me and I wish authors would quit with that tired troupe. 🙄🙄🙄 so I detected stars for that.
Overall, this was a fast pace standard Poppy Fields adventure and still a fun read.

Could not put it down!
Poppy Fields adventures are addicting and fantastic. As I type this review at 5am that should tell you how captivating the story lines are. Can't wait for the next one!

Another adventure with Poppy
I really enjoy this series. I was thrilled when it appeared on my Kindle as I had pre-ordered it. It did not disappoint at all. Julie has created such a wonderful set of characters. Each book has an adventure but it also has the characters growing and new ones introduced. It's so easy to get wrapped up in these books and every book has a different location so it's fun to be a part of these adventures of Poppy's.

Best Poppy Yet!
I love, love, love this series! Julie Mulhern’s books get better and better. I don’t want to ruin this with any spoilers, but suffice to say that Poppy’s wits get sharper, Thor gets hotter, Jake gets snakier and Chariss gets... well, more like Chariss in the latest installment!

Always good
My only complaint about Julie Mulhern’s books are that I can’t put them down. This was no exception. A fast paced, action packed rom com with a mystery wound inside. Who could ask for more?

May be my favorite book of the series so far! Thor has officially reached Anarchy status (if you know, you know 😉). Action-packed with plenty of fun! Can’t wait to see what happens in Greece......

Julie Mulhern has a definite winner with “Fields’ Guide to Dirty Money”. After racing through Egypt, Poppy is off to the island of Grand Cayman for a wedding. Her mother Chariss has become the classic bridezilla as she prepares to marry her Russian oligarch, Yurgi Prokorhov, one of the world’s 10 richest men.
Poppy soon finds more than Chariss’ wedding tantrums to deal with as she goes from murders to attacks to kidnappings. At least this time she again has Mark Stone, her yummy Chris Hemsworth/Thor look-alike, by her side. But she also has to juggle that with her ex-lover, Jake, and a host of characters old and new.
If you are looking for a fast paced action packed story filled with intriguing characters, both good and bad, this is the book for you. The Poppy Fields books certainly have me hooked.

This is the sixth book in the Poppy Fields Adventure series and it still continues to be a hoot to read. If you enjoy Stephanie Plum, I think you’ll enjoy this series. This time Poppy is in Grand Cayman for her mother Chariss’ wedding to Yurgi Prokorhov. She not only has to deal with her mother as a major Bridezilla, but trouble, in this case-a murder, that always seems to find her. Fortunately she has Mark Stone by her side. Julie Mulhern does a great job of describing the location, people and Poppy’s couture, including purses. But this time, she isn’t driving (ha ha!). I hated to put it down because I thoroughly enjoyed it. I laughed, got worried and even teared up a bit for Poppy and her crew. Definitely looking forward to more adventures, or is it misadventures? Can’t wait.

This continues to be a fun quick series, but until Poppy actually gets some training I fear we're going to be in the same story loop over and over and over again. Yes, there's a strength in playing up her naïveté, but a lot of people will just write her off in general no matter what so continuing to deny her aforementioned training doesn't even really make sense. I really struggle with undercutting her by not allowing her to gain some knowledge, especially when in certain cases it means she has to become more of a damsel in distress than she would need to be otherwise.
Also the amount of times Mark's voice was "whiskey rough" in this one was truly astounding.
Hoping for more progress in the next because I feel like we've been spinning our wheels for a few books now.

Once again Poppy sweeps us away with her adventures. What starts as a trip away for a wedding turns into a fast moving adventure where Poppy, Thor and her faithful companion Consuela are dodging bullets, would be killers and wedding planners and the surprises just keep coming. Fast moving with plenty of twists and turns I couldn't wait to see what happened next but didn't want the book to end. Loved the book, love the series and just can't wait for the next book to come out. Highly recommend.

The best yet!!!
I love the whole Poppy Fields series but Fields' Guide to Dirty Money is by far the best in the addictive action series. Delightful wit and adorable sweetness right in the middle of heart stopping terror make every book unputdownable!

Humorous as always. Poppy is at her best. I enjoyed the poker game! Our heroine is truly a wonder.

This might be my favorite one so far because we get to know Chariss better and Poppy seems more vulnerable, particularly when those close to her are threatened. The setting sounded beautiful and lavish and the wedding preparations were over the top, as expected. There was a lot of action and a perfect ending. Just waiting for the next one.

I can always count on Julie Mulhern to craft a story that will pull me in and keep me reading long after my bedtime. That was certainly the case with Fields' Guide to Dirty Money.
Poppy and Mark are in the Caymen Islands for Poppy's mother's wedding. As Poppy sets out to find the perfect place for the bridal shower, the one thing she absolutely does not have time for is witnessing a murder and an assassin coming after her. Too bad no one gives Poppy a choice. As she and Mark dodge drug lords and money launderers, she finds herself searching for a missing wedding planner and longing for quiet, stress-free time away from all the action with Mark.
There are so many reasons to like this series, among them the skill of the author who writes with wit, warmth, and humor.

Loved it!! It is always fun to visit with Poppy and company. Never quite sure how things are going to go wrong but they usually do. This is another fine example of Julie's talent. You get hooked on the characters and wait for them to behave in their true fashion which usually leaves you chuckling or scratching your head. You try to figure out what is going to happen next but thankfully it comes as a surprise so it keeps the read interesting.

It's a trip!
Julie Mulhern’s latest, Fields’ Guide to Dirty Money, Book 6 of the series, couldn’t have come at a better time for this old gal for whom the most exciting thing in her average week during the Pandemic is going to the grocery store.
The cover shows Poppy as the slightly vacuous party girl in a very pretty dress and her deceptively sweet-looking Chihuahua, and promises me that once inside the book I’ll escape to some warm exotic place with a beach and palm trees that I’ll never get to visit in real life.
The first page invites me into a very upscale restaurant that likewise I’ll never get to go to. The next few pages present Poppy’s purpose – to find a location for her famous actress mother’s wedding shower that her very picky mom will find satisfactory. Well, that doesn’t happen since soon the place is trashed, a man is dead, a killer is after Poppy, and I’m one happy reader knowing that I have a couple of hundred pages of action, adventure and romance with a Thor-lookalike ahead.
