About the author

T. M. Brown is a Southern boy at heart, although he’s lived and traveled in many states far removed from his beloved boyhood roots in Georgia and Florida. He returned to his Southern roots several years ago while his two sons were still in school and regularly traveled throughout the South before returning to college shortly after his youngest son graduated. In the last fifteen years he has preached, taught and coached in Alabama, Georgia and Florida until his wife and he moved outside of Atlanta and retired to write, travel, and spoil grandchildren.

Brew up a pitcher of sweet tea and settle into your most comfortable chair. You won’t want to put this book down as Mike Brown takes us back to Shiloh for more southern hospitality with Liddy and Theo Phillips.

I was immediately pulled into the town’s daily routine, via its established churches, the hardware, the smokehouse diner, to be reacquainted with residents introduced last year in Sanctuary. The town’s enthusiasm has grown exponentially with the rebuilding of its youth center and the new family park soon to be dedicated. High school football brings most of the town out and darker days of the past seem to be on the run. But with the advent of an odd floor board in the Phillips house and what’s found underneath, you perceive there’s more to this story than grits and barbeque.

A previous resident returns to one of Shiloh’s most prominent families and apprehension builds as the usually unflappable Theo tells Liddy “...hope my gut’s wrong, but I sense she’s up to something.” The storm rises and there are more wrinkles to Shiloh’s story than linen pants on a hot southern day as Theo is thrust into the breach as peacekeeper.

This second rendering from T.M. Brown did not disappoint and kept me reading until I finished in one sitting.

Mike Brown first introduced me to his charming Cast of Characters in the little town of Shiloh, Georgia in his first book, Sanctuary. These same folks happily populate Testament carrying on in their small Southern Town ways in a very engaging manner.

When not sharing meals, described in mouth-watering detail, swapping stories and carrying on, they play their parts in a riveting series of plots, whose seeds are planted in Sanctuary, but come into full bloom in Testament. While keeping the readers on the edge of their seats following the exploits of the Shiloh Saints under Friday Night Lights, Brown weaves a tale of greed, revenge and corruption leading to a thrilling conclusion, nicely completing his Shiloh series.

I found this book to be tighter than the first and more focused. There were fewer extraneous details, partly because the characters were so well drawn in Sanctuary and consistent in their behavior in Testament. This made for a more pleasant and fast-paced reading experience.

I enjoyed this book as much as the first one. Living the life in Shiloh can certainly come with some excitement and surprises. I would love to live in a place where people really cared about each other as much as some of these folks do. This is a great Christian story with lots of love and forgiveness. The characters are great and I consider them my friends. I now have to wait for the next book to see what is going to take place in the great town of Shiloh.

Testament of life is not in material items but what one has done with his life. So enjoy the moments of thr time. Remember them 'cause that's the testament. Enjoyed the book and the story line to follow after Sanctuary..a very good read!

I would consider recommending this book only if one has read Sanctuary. It is an easy read and of the present times.
