Bossy. Infuriating. Sexy as sin... I can't stand the man. And he's waiting for me at the altar.
I'm up to my eyeballs in unpaid rent. So is half this town.
Cannon Kingston is the devilish, arrogant billionaire with the power to save us all. But he wants something in return...
My hand in marriage.
The terms of our twisted contract are simple. A month or two of dirty, dirty matrimony and he'll drop the eviction threats.
No biggie. I've got this...
Until he switches up the rules on me halfway through the deal.
First comes the bed-breaking orgasms.
Then come the late nights, spilling secrets in the dark.
Now, he's after my heart.
But this is strictly business. Falling in love is a big, fat no-no. I'm not looking for a fairytale ending. I'm just trying to save myself and my town.
Cannon Kingston is a man who always gets what he wants. And now, I'm at the top of his wishlist.
I'm no spineless damsel, though. I can bring this king to his knees.
...Unless he steals my heart for ransom first.
Mister Billions is a steamy, laugh-out-loud, marriage of convenience small town romance featuring a billionaire with a sinful body, a cocky grin and a serious attitude problem. A full-length standalone. No cliffhanger. HEA guaranteed.
It was just meh, not particularly bad, but just ordinary. It had nothing special about it.
Most importantly, it didn't excite me - it didn't make me feel. I didn't connect with the characters and I was not invested in their story. It took me 3 days to finish it.
I neither liked the main characters nor hated them. I was kinda neutral, not feeling much. Sometimes they were sweet and sometimes they were annoying. The thing is they didn't feel like a good match to me. I definitely couldn't feel their connection or chemistry. All in all, everything felt a bit forced.
I think the book was a bit superficial and formulaic, which made it unoriginal and boring and that's why I never cared about it much.
What kept me going was the fact that the book surprisingly had some funny parts and here is my favorite one: "He’s dumb, lazy and as useful as the ‘p’ in pneumonia."
The writing is in dual point of view. It is not bad but it is not good either, just mediocre. The writing doesn't always flow.
And as for safety, there is no problem, it is totally safe with no cheating or no OW/OM drama.
Sigh... reading this is a fantastic way to spend a few hours.
Alternately funny, moving and sexy, Mr Billions shows that Cassie-Ann L. Miller is back with a bang (every pun intended!). Oh my word this just gave me all the feels, ALL THE FEELS PEOPLE! A hot mess heroine with a dysfunctional family and an asshole hero with his heart in the right place but his morals all skewed. There are fireworks from their first meeting and enough heat between them to power a small town.
You just know this pair are absolutely perfect for one another, but they are not going to have an easy path to their HEA. But boy, oh boy, was I rooting for them to get there. I still wanted to smack Cannon quite a lot of the time, as did Lexi, but he just showed enough of the decent guy inside him to keep us both on the hook.
Reading Mister Billions felt like coming home, it was safe, warm and immensely satisfying.
The book starts off with Cannon finds his Girlfriend in bed with his business partner, He kicks his girlfriend out leaves the city to return to visit his family and plots revenge on those who betrayed him.
Lexi, bridal shop owner, sweet, sassy, independent, everyone loves her runs into Cannon at the local coffee shop and has no problem standing up to a grumpy Alpha Cannon and puts him in his place. The chemistry was explosive from the start and I couldn’t put my iPad down. The sparing with these two was phenomenal.
If you want to get away from the world for a few hours, laugh, and fall in love with two great strong-willed characters, I highly recommend this book.
Cannon Kingston, rich, ultimate alpha with a growly attitude and bitter towards people and lost his faith in people when he found his girlfriend in bed with his business partner. Classic you might say,but no it's not! Alexia Robson aka Lexi is sweet, loves to help people but she is the owner of a struggling second hand bridal shop. When these two meet, it is an explosion of cosmic measure!!! She is this fun, easy going person who loves her sister and her friends with all her heart and will do anything to protect them from harm. He is son of local royalty and when he comes home, he soon realizes that the family business is going under. However, underneath all this rich entitle person is somebody with a heart of gold. Their journey will not be an easy one, but they will take you this crazy wild ride of heartbreak, finding love and completing each other. You will laugh, you will cry but these crazy characters will have invested in their cute small town. I am sure Cassie has a story for us of these characters, the story deals with everyday issues and she does it with panache. I honestly volunteered to review this amazing story!!!
OMG! I have missed CA something fierce. I just love her style of writing.
This book was freaking awesome. Long, yes, but you now what, you will get sucked into this story and those chapter will just fly by. I binged this book so hard.
Alexia Robson: Grit and Grace Half goddess. Half gangster.
Cannon described Lexi perfectly because she didn't take crap from anyone. Especially from a snooty, rich @sshole like Cannon Kingston.
Cannon Kingston was back in Crescent Harbor due to recent events in his personal life. Now, as he is sitting in the only coffee shop in town barking orders at his lawyer on his cell phone and impatiently waiting for his coffee in walks a sight for sore eyes and he is only seeing the back of her....and then she turns around and his whole world is turned upside down.
The banter in this book was just cracking me up and the revenge plot that Cannon had going against the two that wronged him was another layer of deliciousness.
Cannon appears to be an arrogant a-hole and Lexi can't stand anyone who thinks they are better than everyone else due to have bags of money so when they meet oh boy are there sparks 🌟 Cannon is torn between revenge and saving the family business which includes evicting Lexi and her friends from their shops leads to a proposition of deceit, laughs, guilt, steamy times, falling in love and learning sometimes family and love mean more than money. I read this in one sitting as I not only loved the story line but all the characters including the townsfolk were just great and you really got to know everyone.
I read Cassie-Ann L Miller’s Mister Billions a year or two ago, and loved it then. With the cover change and my terrible memory, I thought I hadn’t. I kept reading and loving it all the way through the second time. It’s that good.
Cannon (the nickname Loose wouldn’t be too far-fetched) and a Lexi (Stormy suits her too!) are great together and fill each other’s cracks. I do love a good Relationship of Convenience trope, and this one is well done. He falls first and hard and man does he become an alphamallow. Love them together!
I probably read book two (because it’s in my library and I’ve read most of Cassie-Ann’s books), but now I’ll be reading this whole series… SO GOOD!
Oh, and hello, I’m totally using this: “That takes fallopian fortitude.”
book where the FMC has issues with her good for nothing parents in the majority of the book but fights & breaks up with her awesome loving boyfriend over mistakenly insulting her father!
3.5 stars Sweet, but lopsided. The hard-nosed corporate exec turns to mush way before the small town girl. She stays way too harshly resistant for far longer than necessary.
Did not finish past 34% I couldn’t get into the heroine side of the story. I kept skimming to get the the male POV and then I just got bored with the book itself.
In my opinion, for an enemies to lovers trope to work well, the author has to find a balance between animosity between the main characters without tipping into meanness or abuse. Cassie-Ann Miller finds the perfect sweet spot in this book. Cannon is a billionaire who just discovered his long term girlfriend and his business partner in bed together. He decides to leave the city and go to his small town where he discovers his grandfathers business is struggling. In order to avoid it being sold, he needs a wife. Alexia owns a second hand bridal shop in the town. The chemistry between them is off the charts from their first meeting. In order to save his family’s business and for her to renovate and stop the impending evictions for the local businesses, Lexi agrees to marry Cannon. Cannon and Lexi’s journey to their inevitable HEA is a bit of a roller coaster ride while they go from pretend to real while trying to deal with their issues, and what a fun journey it is. This book has a little bit of everything - sweet moments, fan your face steamy, laugh out loud scenes, tearful moments, and heart squeezing love - expect to laugh, to swoon, and to cry. While I love reading romances for the HEA, when real life issues are included - like cheating, childhood poverty, and the scars those experiences leave - it makes for more three dimensional characters and more well rounded storylines. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.
Mister Billions is the first book in the Bad Boys in Love series. As Cannon plots his revenge, he returns to his hometown and immediately runs into spitfire, Lexi. He’s completely drawn to her and her loyalty and dedication, but when he proposes an mutually beneficial fake marriage, what happens when love wasn’t part of either of their plans?
Oh my goodness, this book was pure gold from beginning to end. I was completely taken by Cannon and Lexi, I loved their banter, their connection, and their romance! Cannon reminds me a bit of a rabid dog, where he’s jaded, likely to bite you (destroy you more like it), has all these rough edges, and he is an alphahole, but as you get to know him and gain his trust, he has such a soft side to him that’s a little romantic, a little bit sweet and sentimental, and I loved his need for loyalty. Cannon describes Lexi as “grit and grace” and I can’t think of something more appropriate for her. Lexi is so strong, caring, loyal, brash, loves to have fun, and strives so hard to bring herself up from where she came from. I loved watching them fall for one another, because while they always had the chemistry between them, their lives were sometimes hot messes of conflict and miscommunication. There’s laughter, a few sentimental scenes, a ton of steam, character depth, and I loved how they grew in these pages! I am so excited for this new series and can’t wait to read more!
A classic enemies to lovers romance. Cannon Kingston came from a good family and his IT startup company earned him billions. Everything he touched turned to gold except he wasn’t really a happy man. He was a bit of a jerk, used to getting his own way, and not caring about who he stepped on. The story opens when he finds his fake, plastic girlfriend in bed with his business partner. He immediately plots revenge on them both. He goes home to the tiny town in Illinois where he grew up. He meets our heroine Lexi Robson in a small coffee shop where she’s trying to help her sister fix a broken espresso machine. He’s typically (for him) rude and arrogant, and she stands up to him. When he delves more into his family’s affairs he finds his grandfather’s failing real estate business (they control the whole town). The family agreement was that the business would always be run by family. To take over the business he must be married (I didn’t quite buy that stretch, but it fit the story). He concocts a plan to marry Lexi (another stretch). He barely knows her, but beneath their bickering, they both really like each other. To save the town (another stretch), she marries him. I loved him and how his character grew over the course of the story. She irritated me a little because she came off as tough as nails, but she thought she wasn’t good enough for him. I liked how the story flowed and all the little things he did for her. It was very sweet. Everyone needs a Mister Billions.
I've read 3 or 4 books now by this author and this is probably the best I've read by her. It's first person dual point of view. It had some foul language and some mediocre sex scenes.
Cannon leaves NY City after finding out his long time girlfriend has been sleeping with his partner in their billion dollar business. First off, this makes no sense. If you can't trust your partner, and you know he is an idiot (as is explained further in the book), why would you leave him to run the company?
Anyway, he runs off to his hometown and orders his attorney to seek revenge on the pair in various ways. Then he realizes his father is going to sell the family business unless he gets married, so he convinces Alexia (Lexi) to marry him. He is somewhat unscrupulous in his ways of enticing her. He promises to halt all foreclosures and evictions for the towns people if she will marry him. It only has to last a month or so - just long enough to buy the company.
He falls for her pretty quickly. She starts to see the good side of him. Especially when she sees him with his niece and nephew. She falls for him, too. What a shock, since it is a romance. They do have a break up, for a stupid reason, of course, and of course, get back together.
It was an overall cute romance and I'll probably read the next in the series.
It truly deserves the highest rating!!! Ms. Miller has outdone herself with this one folks. She took 18 months to make this story absolutely brilliant and it shows. So much heart is in this story. The characters are very likable and real. The dialogue is perfection. The inner thoughts are hilarious and at times incredibly poignant. The smexy times are pretty dang hawt to boot too! I love Cannon!!! He’s so funny! How can I not love this man? He falls in love so wholeheartedly and genuinely and he watches telanovelas, like come on?! It’s a done deal. And Lexi is sassy and fire and is a go-getter with a heart of gold. The definition of loyalty. Together they are magic and so cute and really all about family. I truly could go on and on about how much I love this story and how excited I am about the rest of the series, but I think you can see for yourself. It’s so good!!! It’s got everything from the hilarious first impression they make on each other to the inevitable true feelings they catch for each other to the bitter realization that they are both from different worlds to an incredible HEA and an amazing epilogue. Ms. Miller is at the top of her game and I can’t wait for 6/25 to get here so I can read about Iris and Jude!!!!! You know I already preordered my copy 😉
Billionaire Cannon Kings life just turned into one of the biggest clichés, find your girlfriend cheating in your bed, check, the other cheating party your best friend and business partner, check. What’s a billionaire to do but head back to his home town and plot their downfall. Cannon came home to plot revenge but now that he is back he realizes just how much trouble his families business is in and decides he needs to take over and when he starts throwing eviction notices around to the small business tenants of this small town the last thing he expects is Lexi, the beautiful head strong wedding dress shop owner, who does not care how gorgeous, rich and powerful he is when he acts like the biggest alphahole she has ever met. When he finds out his father is looking to sell the business to an outside investor because neither him nor his other two brothers are married and the one who is married is in prison he decides that he will make a deal with Lexi, marry him and save her and her friends businesses or she and everyone else can be evicted. This book was funny, sweet at times and just so entertaining. I cannot wait to read the rest of the King Brothers stories.
Super hot!🔥Super intense drama‼️Super complicated relationship!💖
Connor & Alexia (Lexi) aren’t the typical couple. It’s not a typical relationship. There’s nothing “typical” about them at all. But Connor needs to be married to take over the family business and and after being betrayed by his girlfriend and best friend he’s just looking for any woman to fill the role. Lexi is a spitfire bridal boutique owner who’s very available and to save her friends she strikes a deal to marry Mr. (Billions) Kingston. While Connor is busy focused on seeking revenge, Lexi brings many distractions his way deterring him from his vengeance. As their relationship develops they discover how very similar they are in spite of atypical. These characters are strong and very well developed. They are complicated but easy to follow. Author Cassie-Ann L. Miller knows how to weave a plot of intense angst, deep emotions and hot, hot steam❣️Readers will be drawn into this book from chapter one and won’t want to put it down till the end while seeking that HEA. A highly recommended read!
I’ve been on a huge thriller kick lately, but I decided to switch it up a bit and read a romcom. I’ve had this one on my shelf for awhile and I felt like I was in the mood for an enemies to lovers billionaire romance with fake marriage thrown in. Some of my favourite tropes.
Anyway, this book did not disappoint! The writing was perfect. Funny, witty, and kept me entertained throughout the whole story. Cannon was the perfect grumpy billionaire MMC, and Lexi was an awesome spunky/sexy combination.
I did find that I needed a little more time of the two characters hating each other. I know I’m not the only one that prefers that. I was obviously rooting for them to fall in love, but I needed that tension and angst to build up more. Even so, their relationship had me swooning.
If you’re looking to support an indie author and enjoy spicy romance, I recommend you check this one out!
The chemistry between Alexia and Cannon is immediately noticeable, really hot and sizzling. At times it's funny for laughs. He calls her "Stormy" from the beginning and she starts tamely with "Mr. Billions". They have a really long way to go, with many up and downs, back and forth and round and round.
The story is so worth reading, you don't want to miss it! So it's best to buy immediately and make yourself really comfortable on the couch with a hot cup of coffee and this book. I wish you a relaxing weekend with it, you will enjoy it.
By the way, I can't wait to read the next book, I wonder if it's about Walker and Penny?
I received a free copy of this book via Bookfunnel. I have voluntarily chosen to leave my review in support of this book.
An excellent read once again from Ms Cassie Ann L Miller! Fabulous characters with so much depth to them. This time it’s Cannon who is out for revenge, that he just will not put to bed and will he? A witty story with lots of twists and turns. Just my bag, I couldn’t put it down! Oh what a fight to the very end for Lexi and Cannon. A small town romance with a lot of grit from both sides. Can Lexi accepts Cannon’s offer to be able to keep the town from Cannon’s evictions notices? Cannon’s niece was adorable, so funny, neither Cannon nor Lexi can say no to her! What will Lexi do when she finds out about Kingston Industries and Cannon’s secrets and lies? I highly recommend this great read which deserves the 5 star ⭐️ rating given I voluntarily reviewed this book after receiving a free copy
Cannon Kingston is all business until he meets a hot mess named Alexia "Lexi" Robson. He discovers his family's business, which he has not been involved in, is not doing as well as he thought it should be. His brilliant plan to save the company from ending up in someone else's hands? Get married, of course, and who better to rope into his plan than the spitfire that caught his attention.
They had chemistry from the beginning but Lexi and Cannon come from different worlds. Are they too different, will his revenge plot against his former allies get him in hot water or did a rash decision end up being the best thing that's happened to both of them? This was a fun read and it was so good to see some familiar characters from a prior series (they don't impact storyline, just a few cameos)!
The fake marriage/relationship troupe is one of my favorites…when it’s done right. It’s not done even close to right here. It’s all done so fast and with so little build-up that it’s impossible to think anyone would believe it was real.
I also had problems connecting with Alexia/Lexi/Lex/Stormy (seriously, how many nicknames does one person need?!). We’re reminded a number of times that she is a party girl that just wants to have fun. But that doesn’t actually fit with the rest of her character. I think I get what the author is trying to do with that but labeling Lexi as a “party girl” was the wrong way to go about it. And while the girl was great with her friends she was real wish-washy when it came to Cannon.
The writing was pretty good, except the tendency to repeat a phase several times in a row, but the story just didn’t do it for me.
I loved this book. I noticed I was reading a lot of it with a smile on my face. I just adored Lexi. She was such a loving, caring, yet feisty and independent woman. She really made the story.
I enjoyed Cannon’s story for a few reasons. First, his single minded approach to revenge on his cheating partner and girlfriend was impressive. Second, he didn’t stand a chance when it came to Lexi. His arrogant, angry and grumpy demeanor was put in its place quickly when he mistreated her sister at Jittery Joes.
Finally I loved the role of family in this story. I am going to have to read the next two books about Jude and Walker because I also have to find out how things go with Eli.
This is a fun book, but it will also pull at your heartstrings as Cannon and Lexi navigate through their relationship and as they become parts of a bigger family.
Cannon is grumpy and set it his way, and his way is to do whatever it takes to earn more money. Alexia is a small business owner in a small town struggling in the off season. Her friends are her family and she would do anything for them. While both seem so different both are very driven. And when Cannon shows up in the town and realizes how bad his grandfather's business is going, he needs to take drastic measures. He needs a wife, and Alexia sure made an impression on him.
This book has a little bit of everything, chemistry, laughter, seriousness, friends, family. You need to find out though if they stay together or if they both go their separate ways after having grown from knowing the other.
When self-made billionaire Cannon Kingston returns to his hometown of Crescent Harbor and finds out the real estate business his beloved grandfather built is in trouble, he comes up with a plan to saves his grandfather's legacy ... by getting married to Alexia Robson, a bridal shop owner who's behind on her rent. Cannon and Lexi just need to stay married until Cannon's father signs the business over to him, then they can break up. But what happens when Cannon starts falling for the beautiful but sassy Lexi?
Mister Billions is a funny, drama-filled and steamy story that will have you cheering for the heroine to give the a**hole hero a chance
What a great refreshing read by this author. Alexia and Cannon are like oil and water, well she’s not so crazy about him with their first meeting. Lexi is sassy, feisty and the attraction between them is explosive and Cannon wants more of her. When Cannon comes back home he needs to save his grandfather’s legacy and comes up with a plan to make that happen. The only thing is will Lexi agree and can he keep his hands to himself? Will Cannon get the family business and the girl in the end? Loved the banter, humor, drama and the sexual tension was ridiculous between them. Awesome read! I received a copy of this book.
Cannon presents as a dichotomy - part a**hole and part sensitive and vulnerable. I certainly wouldn't want to be the one who pisses him off because he takes revenge to an entirely different level. Alexia is a sweetheart who looks out for the welfare of others, can fix things and is trying to run a successful business all while keeping walls built around her heart. When they get together for a false marriage, things between them are explosive. I loved how they were together. Of course things don't go smoothly and there are obstacles to overcome but they get a very happy ever after in the end.
