Beyond the Cove #4

Fight for You

Rate this book
Is this a love worth fighting for?

One man is haunted by a past he can’t outrun.
One man is branded by a legacy he can’t hide.
One man is burdened by a guilt he can’t deny.

The usually peaceful town of Riverside Falls has had its very core shaken by traumatic events. Three men find themselves at the center of it all, thrown together by circumstances beyond their control.

Sawyer Levy came to Riverside Falls four years ago to escape from…well…life, but when he finds himself in need of care, he’s forced to trust not one but two men for the first time in years.

Grant Belford is riddled with shame in the tragic aftermath of incidents he didn’t see coming, blaming himself for the terror that rocked his town over the last few months.

Captain Mason Lockley is struggling with the recent events that have shaken up the quiet town of Riverside Falls, tormented by one thought, over and over again: Did he miss the signs because of jealousy?

Having no choice but to lean on each other, the three men suffering with their own demons aren’t expecting to have such an undeniable connection—or to fall so hard. It’s a love they don’t understand, but will they realize it’s worth fighting for?

***Fight for You picks up where Thirst for You left off. Therefore, if you would like to avoid spoilers from Thirst for You, it is suggested you read that book first in order to truly understand what the characters in this book are going through.
***There is a retelling of a violent event from an MC’s past. Though it is not told as it’s happening, it may be triggering to some readers.

I quite enjoyed this one. Maybe my favorite of the series so far.

I do love a good MMM read, though it's often hard to get it right. I thought the build-up was pretty on pace. Definitely no insta-love here. It look the majority of the book - well a good 60% before things started happening so to speak.

I felt the connection between all 3 men. I felt like they were all equals in the relationship. Granted we don't get tons of on-page time with them all together as a couple.

Added angst with the carry over in storyline from book 2, but the good angst.

Obviously some nice steam.

It looks like each book in this series rotates between Haven's Cove and Brighten Pier I think it is. Will definitely go back and read book 2 which is Brighten Pier and then it looks like book 5 will also be Brighten. I do hope Malik gets a book! ;)

This was waaaaay too much comfort/healing for my tastes. Also, sometimes it was too formulaic, too sweet to the point of seeming fake, if that makes any sense.

Still, the menage aspect was handled pretty well IMO and the writing was good too.

Full review tomorrow when I'm at the laptop.

***

Lots of great things to say about this book. It really works to convey the fears about being in a relationship which isn't a conventional one.

I'm a fan of MMM done well and I think Jaclyn did it justice throughout the narrative.

Each man brought something unique to the relationship and it was obvious that they couldn't work as just a duo whichever way the pairings were.

It's absolutely not a standalone, it follows directly on from book two and deals with the fall out from the events there.

It also touches on strong subjects and, again, I liked that love wasn't a magic cure and that actual expert help was needed.

I will say that I wasn't a big fan of the time jumps, which seemed to be used to move the plot along but without having to show the men working at the day to day relationship reality.

That said, it's a minor quibble because there is also good on page time where they talk and go through their fears.

All in all, another solid entry to the series for me.

⭐️⭐️⭐️.5/5 Stars. Rounding up.

I had a lot of stuff I planned to do today. While I did manage to accomplish a few tasks, I mostly just read this book. Zero regrets. Those unfinished chores are a problem for tomorrow’s me. 😂🤷🏻‍♀️

Holy hell this was pretty hot. A slow burn but worth it. I’ve been dying for this trio’s book since book two in the series. In my opinion, this shouldn't be read by itself. While you could probably skip book one and book three, book two, Thirst for You, should definitely be read first. It has information needed for this book and sets the scene. I've liked the whole series though, so you'd be missing out by skipping any of them.

I do not read a ton of mmm books. They tend to make me nervous. I either worry that there will be too much angst or not enough angst. But I do enjoy them when done right and, for me, this one was done right. Mason and Grant have been friends for years and have a complicated history. Then we have Sawyer who butted heads with Grant in book two and kind of seemed like a jerk. Well, as you know if you read book two, Sawyer turned out to be a good guy. A guy who, after the events of book two, needs some help. Grant is messed up himself after how things unfolded in book two. And Mason just wants to take care of both of them. So where do these three guys go from here?

This was a beautiful story to read. As I said above it was a slow burn but it wouldn't have felt right if everything was rushed. These men had a lot of healing to do and personal growth and the actual romance part moving slower made sense. And when they did get together? Wow.

I can't wait to see what books come next. It seems like there are several guys begging for their own books still in this world and I'm thinking some in another spin-off who want their stories told.

Re-read September 2021
I enjoyed this second read more than I expected.
The drama didn't bother me as much this time.

-----------------

This picks up exactly where Thirst for You left off, so don’t try to read this if you haven’t read the second book (you can skip the third).

And while I liked this, I did get a little tired of all the drama. Not that there was a lot of relationship angst between these three men. So that was nice. But I sometimes felt it was a bit much with both Grant and Sawyer battling with trauma, and Mason trying to keep them all together.

Still, this was a nice MMM, and it had lots of hurt/comfort, so yay.

3-3.5 stars

I was lot a little at first because I couldn’t remember much of book two (Drew and Zach’s book) but after the first couple chapters it was coming back to me slowly. Haha

I do think that sometimes MMM romances are hit or miss, this one did a good job making it feel like all the men had equal chemistry with all the guys! That to me is huge especially since there was already past relationship history with Mason and Grant.

I think that the main issue that came up at the end.. not great but made sense… I guess… haha idk still debating that.

I also wonder if Liam is going to have a book if he doesn’t already. Same goes for GiGi.

This author has writing that hooks me in from the very beginning so I was thoroughly entertained the whole time.

4 Stars for the series

Like the Haven's Cove stories, I read all of these in a short period of time. I find the author to be very readable, all the books contain a good balance of drama and romance. While some worked better than others, I enjoyed them all.

This one was worth the wait. Glad these guys got their acts together.

Whoa Boy!! I was up until 2:45 am reading Fight For You (Beyond The Cove #4/KU) and OMG.. I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT!! A top read for me this year!! I’m just going to let this review fly so bear with me! Fight For you is MMM and one of THE BEST MMM’s I have ever read! I’m super picky about MMM as they often are formulaic as to how it all plays it and that is just not the case AT ALL in this book. I’m just going to say this book is BRILLIANT and the writing is FANFREAKINTASTIC!! I am such a fan of Jaclyn’s storytelling and world building and this could be her best book yet!! Fight For You hits the ground running right from the Prologue (which I normally never read). An opposites attract, hurt/comfort, PTSD, second chance, enemies to lovers, lovers to friends to lovers, sort of forced proximity, smoking hot, need a cold shower read. LOL The character development, both primary and secondary, is OUTSTANDING!!! So much time and care is given to all 3 MC’s and each have a very distinct voice. It was written so well that I felt like I was living with them and experiencing every emotion, every heart flutter, every awakening they were having because the dialogue was just that good, and I can’t stress enough how much I love that in a book! The emotions are so very strong, the banter is amazing and as usual, Jaclyn’s humor had me in stitches.A must read!!!! Although I don’t feel this should be read as a standalone, it could be because the previous storyline is explained well enough. Fight For You is a continuation of the storyline in Thirst For You, but there is a spoiler if you haven't read Thirst yet. However, in my professional opinion, LOL, you should really read Thirst For You (an excellent age gap read) first in order to get the full effect of the raw emotion in this book. Go forth and clickity click!!!

Not my favorite, but definitely enjoyable.
I would prefer this book to be about Sawyer and Mason only, but that's just because I don't really like Grant at all😒. In my opinion he was an asshole with Mason and didn't deserve the guy, besides I felt like his feelings towards Mason wasn't strong enough, you know... It felt forced🤷🏻‍♀️

Mason, Sawyer, and Grant

What an impressive story. Complicated lives, complicated relationships, miscommunication, misunderstanding, hurt, so much hurt. It felt all plausible.
Their struggle was immense, their love and connection even bigger.
When the three are together it showed the most beautiful firework!

Book 2 of this series is about what happened to them before the beginning of book 4. It can be read as a stand-alone, only at times, I wished I had read book 2.

This story starts at a point where Sawyer and Drew (Grant’s Brother) are in the hospital. Grant feels responsible for Sawyer after all that happened. There is a lot of misunderstanding between them.
Mason took Grant in his house because Grant can’t ever return to it. Grant and Mason have a history together. Grant and Mason offer Sawyer a room in Mason’s house to recover. Three men together in one house.
There are a lot of things happening and all very captivating. Hurt, comfort.
Secrets and hurt of the past are in the way of recovering the soul, and a future together. A lot of healing is necessary.
Three dear and lovable men are opening up to each other.

A very satisfying storyline, awesomely written. A narrative I loved very.
I took a while before the three men got together, but the build-up was awesomely done the tension heavy. The scars were deeply cut, the healing process was heartbreaking, tearing me up more than once.
A wonderful story, a must-read!

I was looking forward to this one for a while.. so glad it's here!!
Mason, Grant and Spencer are all hugely affected by the recent events for different reasons.
Mason trying to hold them all together as Sawyer and Grant heal from their very different but still debilitating wounds.
I became so invested in their story.
Cheering them on for the hea they deserve.
An emotional story of healing, grief, guilt, second chances, so much fear.. and love.
5 stars.
Happily recommend!! Definitely best read after Thirst For You.

Our place

This is the book I’ve been waiting for since I read and loved Thirst For You. It was amazing and blew me away. I really liked Mason’s alternatives for Netflix and chill but I think Sawyer came up with the best idea. The families in this series are beyond wonderful too. All the love, the support and funny nicknames warmed my heart and made me smile.

Mason, Sawyer and Grant (MSG) are everything. Each of them is fighting for something and their pain was heartbreaking. Although they are delightfully grumpy, stubborn and rough, they never gave up and wouldn’t give up on each other. Together MSG has a connection that jumps from the page and when they’re in the same room, the chemistry is explosive; I saw sparks. Add in the outstanding snark and banter they have and you won’t want this book to ever end. Reading it is like coming home.

The long wait has ended...I've been so excited for this book to land on my Kindle you have no idea. I can honestly say this was my most anticipated book so far and I frickin loved every word.

If you've read the prior books in the series you know what happened to these men. The physical and emotional scars that were left after the attacks were talking a great toll on all three men. Each was fighting his demons and the attraction that was right below the surface. The slow burn was driving me crazy buuuut they need healing in order to move on. And when they finally came together??? It was pure MAGIC!!

They say true love always finds a way and nobody deserved it more than these three men.

If it's not clear I ABSOLUTELY LOVED this book and I HIGHLY recommend it!!!

Holy hell!!! This is my favourite book in the series and I've been waiting for this once since I read book 2! And the wait was soooo worth it!!

I'd highly recommend reading Thirst for You before this one (as in, you NEED to), not only because it contains spoilers but also to get a better understanding of their dynamic before the events in this book.

This book was just beautiful. I cannot describe how much I love it. Each of them have their demons, their misplaced guilt and it was fantastic to see them conquer it.

I'm very picky about MM+ and I've read very few but this is one of the best I've read. Mason, Grant and Sawyer fit together so well. This is a slow burn with multiple POV. I like how the POVs are very distinct and easily distinguishable.

I was very curious about Mason and Grant in the 2nd book. Everyone in the town knows they have history but I just realized Mason pined for him 10 years!! I'm glad Grant finally his head out of his arse. Sawyer has so many secrets and it was heart warming to see him growing to trust these men.

Totally recommend this whole series!! Can't wait for the next book!

Amazon

After Sawyer and Drew were involved in the hit and run, Grant's beside himself with guilt, Mason's struggling with his own guilt, and Sawyer, well, Sawyer is the most messed up of them all. It's a wonder that the three finally managed to get together considering all the baggage each brings to the table.

But that's what I liked most about this story is that each brings their own individual stuff to the relationship. Yes a lot of it is baggage and demons, but it makes the story so much more interesting, and the clear delineation between each men's character makes it stand out. So many times in MMM, the characters can tend to blend into one big blob, but not here. Here there are three different men with different personalities and quirks, who love each other because of those things.

If you like threesomes, I highly recommend you give this story a try because it's great - emotionally complex, slow burn hot, and the balance between the physical and emotional is done perfectly.

Amazing book

This was a great read from start to finish. You better have a few hours in front of you, because, if you are like me, you won't be able to put it down.

This story started in book 2 of the beyond the cove series, and I couldn't wait to see what would happen with these three men.

Sawyer, Grant and Mason together was amazing. I loved the heat, trust and love between them. Their story wasn't easy by any means as they all have to deal with quite a few things and deep rooted fears and feelings.
Their relationship thought felt so good and natural (and was very very hot) especially the way it slowly progressed.

Overall a great book that left me with a warm heart

My favorite so far...

I’m reading this series completely out of order. I skipped book 3 to read this one.
I needed to know Sawyer, Mason and Grant’s story! The aftermath after book 2.
Told in triple POV, which I appreciated because I really needed to know their internal musings.
Sawyer’s backstory.. no spoiler but it is SO heartbreaking 💔. We learn all the things. This is my favorite story so far. So many layers. Love and trust being the 2 most important layers. I loved it. ♥️♥️

Now I’m going to need a Liam book. Please!

Mason and Grant were occasionally lovers. Mason wanted more but Grant couldn’t give it. After their worlds were shattered by an unbelievable act of jealousy they are trying to find normal again. Sawyer doesn’t know what he wants, just something different than what he has.

First off, these men need a fifteen wheeler to carry around their baggage. Pain, (physical and mental), guilt, and what if’s, are all they feel. The author did well with sorting their various feelings.

MMM is confusing and fraught with potholes. I thought the author did a good job keeping track of body parts and where they went. Not to mention nourishing the men’s brains so they could take back their lives.

This nature of this book could of made it over dramatic and and while there is drama, it didn’t overpower the story. Enough light moments to distract from the sad truths. Good writing with easy to like characters made this a nice read.

I received an arc of this book.

Firstly I would recommend reading Thirst For You before Fight For You as a big event and the fall out is the basis of this book. The first couple of chapters help to remind readers what happened and what is the physical and emotional repercussions are for the people involved. There is a lot of pain, grief, guilt and fear mixed up for the three men that Fight For You focuses on.
There is a sizzling undercurrent of chemistry, right from the start of the book even with all of the drama that the MC's are recovering from. Grant and Mason have a history and there is so much between them that is unsaid bit almost straight away there's something brewing between Grant and Sawyer, and Mason and Sawyer. Though there's a lot of physical healing to be done by Sawyer, it's so much more about the mental and emotional health of them all with everything that they have been through.
I fell in love with all three men, so strong and yet vulnerable. Slowly they reveal themselves to each other as they give themselves permission to love and be happy. It's definitely a roller-coaster of emotions with a story line that's so engaging and well written. Helping them along is a wonderfully supportive group of family and friends.
Absolutely a book I would recommend. The whole series has been so enjoyable with a great cast of characters and I love a good MMM romance.
I received an ARC and am happily giving a review.
**As a trigger warning, there is a homophobic attack that is recounted as a memory by one of the MC's. **

Fight For You is the fourth book in the Beyond The Cove series. This Jaclyn Quinn read is an exquisite menage romance that picks up where Thirst For You leaves off.

From the start, when the story starts with Sawyer in the hospital, and both Grant and Mason staying by his side, the emotions come out in full force. Grant's ex girlfriend nearly killed Sawyer, setting the scene for a new dynamic between three men. And, ohhhh...it's delicious!

Mason and Grant are two men who have loved each other for years, but something was always missing. With Sawyer, that missing piece is found. Their story is one of three men who have a lot of issues between them. Anger, resentment, frustration, and guilt. Hurt, regret, attraction, and love. These are three men getting to know one another, scars and all.

Sawyer's panic attacks are well illustrated, bringing them fully to light, pain and all. His background is well developed over time. He's a loveable man when his walls come down. He's been locked in the closet by fear, but he feels the two handsome men knocking on his door. Meanwhile, Grant has spent his life pushing people away, especially Mason.

This is about the importance of wanting to get better. It's impossible to accept the love of others when one doesn't love themselves. "...You're never going to live your own fucking life if you choose to ignore half of it, or if you continue to punish yourself for other people's mistakes."

It's about the impact of denying one is gay. "You may not be broken, but you're sure as hell not whole...you've taken a huge part of your life and you've tossed it aside."

The author also includes some fantastic secondary characters. I adore Sawyer's parents. Completely adore them. And then there's Liam, who adds immensely to the story. I love poor Liam.

Fight For You is a long journey towards self love and finding one's self worth. Jaclyn Quinn expertly combines comfort/hurt, small town, and second chances in this beautiful story.

First things first, I would recommend reading the second book in the Beyond The Cove series before reading Fight For You - the fourth. It can just about be read as a standalone, but I think it's best enjoyed after reading Thirst For You as significant parts Fight For You's story arc are a direct result of what happens in that book.

All that said, I loved Sawyer, Mason and Grant's story. All three men are suffering from feelings of guilt and low self-worth after traumatic events both from Thirst For You and further in the past. Their bond is absolutely key to their emotional recovery and how between them they overcome vulnerability, stubbornness and discomfort with communication. I like the resulting slow-burn development of their relationship whilst they learn to open up to their partners and the amazing heat when they do finally get together. It's a truly hard won HEA but is absolutely all the sweeter for it.

It's fair to say I'm a fan of the Beyond The Cove series (and the preceeding Haven's Cove books) and I certainly wasn't disappointed in the latest installment. I'm also happy to say it looks like Jaclyn Quinn shows no sign of stopping here...there are several side characters who feel like they really need their story telling. I'm giving Fight For You 5*.

I fell in love with this author from her first book Hard To Let Go. An I just keep falling. She writes such amazing beautiful stories, I can’t get enough an I will always need more.

If you haven’t read Thirst for You, I suggest you start there so you get the full story.

Sawyer, Mason and Grant will rip your heart out but they will put it back together. Their story was heartbreaking, heartfelt, and so powerful it brought me to tears. I just fell in love all over again. I can’t wait to see who is next in the series. I seriously need more!

I’ve been waiting for this story since Thirst For You! I knew it would be HOT but I really wasn’t expecting the story to unfold quite like it did. Definitely one that I will reread over and over as I really love these three.

Note: you really NEED to read Thirst for You before this book. Books 1 & 3 aren’t as critical (still good books-you should definitely look into) but TFY is definitely necessary so part of the backstory is explained in more detail.

To już dzisiaj (20.08.2021) chyba siódma książka, której komentarz uzupełniam, choć jestem pewna, że go dodawałam od razu po przeczytaniu...

* * * * * * *

Ten lęk go właściwie paraliżuje przed wszystkim - pustelniczy tryb życia, który wybrał, z dala od kochających go rodziców, którzy go przytłaczali swoją miłością (zwłaszcza mama), zero związków, zero jednorazowych numerków, zero przyjaciół, zero czegokolwiek...

Z poczuciem winy walczy każdy z nich.

I looooved the beginning and the middle of this story, the end no so much.

The beginning was smoothly done, I have a hard time reading MMM romance because when 3 people are in a relationship, and you have a book of certain amount of pages, the feelings don't evolve like they should, so connecting with the characters is hard for me, but not with this baby, nope.

First of all, I knew all 3 of these gentlemen from the previous book, I knew about Sawyer's fear and sacrifice, I knew about Grant's guilt and self doubt and I knew of Mason's strength and compassion before I started this book, so I was already connected with the boys.

When the story started, I was surprised at how smoothly I got the three men pov, how easy I could transition from one to the other, to the other; and how right it felt the way those transitions happened, so I was really thrilled and enjoying my book at this point.

At the middle of the story, when Grant and Sawyer decided they needed help, I was singing hallelujahs over here and when they got together I was happy, they deserved each other after all the suffering.

BUT, the whole thing at the end with Sawyer needing time to me was unnecessary, I think facing his fears could have been developed in another way, the three of them as a unit facing them, or maybe we could have been shown the struggle he went through those two months without the boys so we would have believed it more, maybe some scenes where the three saw each other with longing or something more deep shit.

So yeah, to me the end was lacking but I enjoyed this book, the scenes were steamy as hell, and the three guys were lovely.

Loved it!

Fight For You
By Jaclyn Quinn

Sawyer moved to Riverside Falls years ago to escape his past. He gets caught up in saving Drew's life from a stalker and winds up in the hospital with serious injuries.

Grant is Mason's ex-boyfriend and Drew's brother. He's feeling guilty for Sawyer's and Drew's injuries because of who the stalker was.

Mason is feeling guilty because he suspected who the stalker was, but had no proof so he couldn't arrest the person. He's worried his jealousy caused him to miss obvious signs he could have used to save them all.

After Sawyer is released from the hospital and Grant's home becomes a crime scene they move in with Mason to care for Sawyer and help him recover. Grant finally reveals to Mason the real reason he broke up with him and they get back together, but now there's a new worry among them. Both Mason and Grant have also fallen for Sawyer and Sawyer is heartbroken after falling for both of them, feeling he's just in the way and they need to be together without him around.

I rarely read MMM books because to me it always feels like one of them is left out in the cold while the other two are obviously meant to be together. This wasn't the case in this story. All three men were part of the story and all three are obviously meant to be together.

This was a fantastic book. There is a lot of angst and other emotional issues throughout the book. I was thrilled to finally find out what the deal was with Sawyer's constant grumpy behavior and seeming dislike for gay men.

I would recommend reading Zach & Drew's story first so that you know what all happened with the stalker.

Satisfying trio

I am not one for poly romances...I find myself keeping score then feeling frustrated for the one most excluded. I am so happy to say this is the most balanced, equal, and mutual threesomes I've ever read. In top of that it felt natural and born of chemistry. Great flow to the relationship...It unfolds over time along with the needed healing and support for one another. I read thirst for you (book 2) and this one back to back. Both well written. 4 stars rather than 5 because parts were more about healing and there was a bit of a separation that didn't make a lot of sense...not sure why it lasted so long and what changed as it was glossed over. Seems someone should have been trying a bit more. If you really love someone don't you at least reach out and stay In touch? In the end my little fussiness is just a blip in the overall story and this is highly recommended....it's really good. Definitely read thirst for you first.
