Codename: The Rift

Rate this book
I didn’t ask to wake up with claws and fangs, but here we are.

The Rift has a lot of strange properties, but this is insane.

When I moved to this world to escape a tormentor from my past, I took over the Resistance and I survived. I found my mates and formed a family. But the animal inside of me is upsetting the delicate balance within my large harem, and if I don’t do something, I will lose everything.

I have to get rid of it, and I can’t let my family know.

So I’m asking a favor of the most feared man in our world: come out of exile, ignore that we’re enemies, and help me figure this out.

I’m about to start a game of cat and killer, and I have no idea what that smoking hot psychopath will ask for in return.

He’d better behave or he’ll find out this kitty can scratch.

5 "Kitty + Bird" Stars⭐
A Dark Sci-Fi + Paranormal Story which is Just the Start of this Awesome Series With Great World Building, Suspense, Truths, Magic, High Tech, History, Multiple Mates, Action and Mutation?
I loved this story, We met a lot of Characters & the book has Multiple POVs, though my Fav are Delilah, Rafe & Taurus.
#My 1st by these authors, So excited for more in this series!

So I got the ARC of this book to read. It's the revised version with Deleted Scenes, the Writing is smooth and I liked the behind-the-Scenes Profile Updates we got (Via 'The Company'). The book is the longest one I've read yet (atleast on my Kindle), Normally I Discuss the Story & all my fav Scenes But I'm not gonna do that here *much*..So yup, No Spoilers & Short Length review it is. There's a lot of history before the 'Now' that we find as we go through the Story. The Rift is a pocket Dimension made by 'the Company' for Research purposes.

Delilah; Badass, Free-Spirited, Extrovert; is The leader of Resistance made against Cabal (Kinda like Government of Rift which is now gone after the 'Conflict'). She & Her family which mainly comprises of her mates (Her primary mate being Rafe, Sweet & an artist!) + Android Robots Preaches Free Love. She's Secretly magical but Now is growing Shifter abilities.. Mutations.
And She goes to find answers from Taurus; Growly, Alpha, Swoony, Many layers (Primary Mate Is Talia). A lot of bad blood & history is b/w these two & the Resistance *Interesting*.
P.S. Mating can only be happen with 'Doubles'- Clone males with Demon as their Bases.

The whole book is how Taurus & Delilah 1st have a hate-lust relationship which transforms to Love & leads to their inevitable mating (Gladly, their Primary mates Agreed). Some Mysteries, Emotions, Fights, HOT Sexy times, Magic and Secrets thrown in for fun!
Another main thing was that Rafe & Deli are experiencing abuse from their other 4 main mates, It was Nice to see how R+D finally start to fight back and I liked once the rest of family found, they were on R+D's side. They've Left The other lying two But Sari & Wilde are here still, Plotting.

The Story had a Happy-for-Now Ending and I'm excited for what's to come (I hope Sari+Wilde Crash & Burn).
We only had Sex scenes with Deli & Taurus, but I think many happened behind the scenes of Deli with her mates. No Menage or RH sex but there's lots of potential for that in future! (There's hint of M/M & F/F action too!)

Absolutely unique! I love the Riftverse. It is the type of world i love. Super complex and diversified... the author planned for that by providing us « company reports » throughout the book that keep us on track.

The story follows Deli a strikingly real FMC and her community... that mysterious meeting intrigues you? It starts a chain of events that you absolutely have to follow in book 2 which is already out!! So no waiting!
Dive in today you won’t regret it!!

*I received a free copy of this book which I voluntarily chose to write an honest review for.

What an intriguing read this is. We dive into an extremely interesting world full of all sorts of surprises. Following Delilah and her mates we are attempting to find a cure to what has been done to them. The problem is that the only one who can help is the same man who tried to kill them. Makes for some tense situations to say the least. Written in multiple POV's so we get all sides of the story. Makes for a fun read you you won't want to put down. I really liked it so I give it 4/5 stars.

I was send an e-pub copy by the author, in return for a review.

I will preface my review by stating honestly that I thought this would be within the Sci-Fi/Fantasy genres I enjoy. This book crosses into other genres I do not read, which is the sole reason for my rating. It was not to my personal liking.

The author has developed an extremely elaborate world made up of a complex mixture of characters within a social structure so intricate, it took this reader a third of the book to figure out. The action and adventure in this story is difficult to describe as each scene sends ripples down the societal lines like a million silken threads on a giant spider's web. For this is a world where magic and mayhem mix; where the beasts within feed and humans are hunted; bloodlust rules logic, driven by goddesses and gods while scientists seek to understand.

This book incorporates many genres & themes including: Sci-Fi, Dark Fantasy, Dark Romance, Occult, and Wicca. It will definitely appeal to readers who enjoy these themes and genres.

This book is one of the most unique books I read. From the writing format to the writing style to the different POV of our different characters. It was really entertaining, to say the least. The book introduces us to a fantasy world full of turns and twists. Our main character Delilah, leader of Resistance, begins to experience changes within her (did I mention she was a witch?!!) and goes to seek help from someone - Taurus. It took a few chapters for me to get the hang of the world building and the 'rules' it follows i.e mates, doubles, etc... but got there in the end. The book is really well-paced with ALOT of tense scenes which make you not want to put it down. Finally, the relationship development between Delilah and Taurus is just *swoon* I mean the execution of the hate-to-lust-to-love was one of my favorite things from the book. Overall, it was such a solid first book in a series with an amazing setup for what still yet to come!

I want to give a huge thank you to the author for providing me with the book in exchange for an honest review!

Codename: The Rift is a blend of dark romance and science fiction fantasy written by the authors Cassandra Featherstone and Gail Jericho. It is the first book in the Codename: The Rift series.

The protagonist of the story is Delilah (X1501). She is the leader of the offshoot of the Battle of Blood and Steel and she will capture our attention a lot.

The writing style of the author is amazing and the descriptions are so strong that it makes me feel like I am witnessing everything from my eyes, happening in front of me. The length of the book is much longer than my expectations. The world building is wide and there are so many characters to keep track of. This book is not for beginners.

Please be advised since book contains mature content, so this is only recommended for adult audience.

I like to recommend it to those readers who enjoy a blend of different genres like dark Fantasy, dark romance and scifi. Eagerly waiting to read next book "A New World Order Vol 1" in the series.

I was given a free copy of this book for an honest review by the Author and Booktasters

I would like to thank the author and booktasters for the opportunity to read this book.

This book has been an interesting ride!! It took about the first couple hundred Pages before I got into it but I was still trying to work out the names of everyone as it does do different point of views but it doesn't state names until a few lines in.

This book is about a wonderful girl named Delilah and all the people that she loves and cares about that lives in this parallel world that a company runs. Some of the people that she loves are her mates which means they are bonded in a very particular way. But things are changing in her that she's not sure about so she goes and us someone else and he helps.

I don't want to give too much away because I want you to go read it yourself!!

The last thing I'm going to say is Please come out with Book 2 soon!!!

There is something about science which still make our eyeballs wide.
'Codename: The Rift by Cassandra Featherstone and Gail Jericho' is a perfect example of this. A science fiction/fantasy novel revolving around human mutation and other various themes like dark romance, supernatural powers, action, murder and mayhem.
--
I openly cannot say this book is for every reader, but the target audience who are hardcore fantasy lovers.
--
I have added the synopsis in comment section because story isn't that simple to explain, but i will focus on other elements.
Characters have a variety and are large in number, but one must focus on Delilah, the protagonist. The maintained the depth of story and characters both.
--
Writing and narration are something this book needs a little more craft to engage its readers in a complete and whole manner.

I was given a free copy of this book by the author in exchange for an honest review.

The author writes in a blogging style for some of the characters. This is a very differently written reverse harem book.

Delilah is the main character and leader of a new world. She has multiple mates and many associates. She is a witch and is struggling through some genetic changes she does not fully understand.

Many people demand her time. She moves forward in another mating with Taurus. All her people seem to have ulterior motives. The book ends with a lead up to the next book.

I am excited to learn what happens in these relationships.

This reverse harem is so different to book I usually read.
First it has sciences fiction and Dystopian aspects, I didn't thought I would be into an Rh with those tropes but oh my, how wrong could I be??
I Love deli character, she has sassiness, she is bada**, and I Love her with Taurus and Rafe.

These days I don’t write many reviews unless I feel passionate about it.

I was recommended to read this book by a friend so I gave it a go.

Firstly it’s quite a lengthy book, not that there’s anything wrong with that, just be prepared that it may take more than a day to get through.

There is a sci-fi / paranormal feel to it and can be quite complex as the author builds there own little world but also has references to current pop culture.

There are a lot of characters and it does make it somewhat difficult to keep track in my mind of who is who. The characters dynamic is a unique in a sense that there are family units. So FMC has primary mate but mated to others however the book is really focused on her and the MMC she is courting.

In short there is a lot going on in the background but the book is mainly focused on the budding relationship between Del and Taurus.

The family units are already formed and lovers come and go, there is a lot of conflict in the main mated family branches, but essentially this is a slow-build.

All in all I’m not sure how I feel I think I need to read the second book to form an actual opinion but I must say there are so many grammatical errors, not sure if this formatting from Amazon or not.

I really wanted to read this book , because it seems interesting and i usually like books from Cassandra featherstone. But this book i can't even read it , i had to DNF. Which is super disappointing. The reason why i can't really get into it and read it because first and foremost there's too much information, I'll be honest I'm confused what this book is supposed to be about. Way to many characters, and apparently all characters are in a relationship with each other? I don't really like that , i want either a poly story or a reverse harem. I don't want a story where A is in a relationship with B, C, D and E but B is in a relationship with K, L M and N and C is in a relationship with Q, W ....you understand my point . That's how it felt reading this book which was confusing and a bit disappointing, because i want to read a reverse harem and i don't like when they have relationship outside of the harem. And there was a note before the book that this is supposed to be like a prequel? I almost think that this book needs a prequel. Idk ill maybe try to read it again after a time, but idk if i get into it. I hope i can , because I do want to read it i just feel like it hard to comprehend things when you are bombarded with information.

A tough read to start

This book was tough to start and get into but once you get through the grit the story does pick up and has very intriguing aspects. The reason the book was tough to start is because of the science aspects in it as well as a language barrier if you are not familiar with the terms from another country. But as you read you will pick up on the meanings quickly. The story is aboit Delilah and her mates. It is aboit clones droids and shifter and magic aspects. Once you get past the initial start the story will keep you reading. So don't give up and push through.

"The company" is a corporate entity. It has created pocket dimensions and access parallel universes. They have picked people from these "ribbons" and recruited them to do their work. Delilah, a mutant, is the resistance leader - a rebel group that lost the battle against the doubles. She struggles to understand her powers and contacts Taurus, one of the company doubles. Does Deli get a handle on her powers? Does Tauras's entrance in Deli's life upset the delicate balance her "family" is in? How does she challenge all of Taurus's beliefs?

Uniqueness:
Concepts of pocket dimensions and parallel universes become small ideas in this book. The story revolves around Deli and Taurus's lives. In that sense, this is my first SCIFI fantasy romance novel. What I found unique about this novel was the narration.

Predictability:
I, for one, was not able to predict what was going to happen. There were not many twists and turns in terms of the plot. However, the frequent upheavals that kept disturbing the balance in Deli's life were something I didn't see coming. When there are so many characters involved in family dynamics, it's difficult to predict where the next shocker will come from.

Writing Style:
The author's writing style is definitely unique. There are two viewpoints. One is a high-level view - the company. The company cannot directly see what is happening with these characters. So they track the characters through the public blog entries written by them. This is where the second perspective comes in. Almost all the characters write blog entries, like a journal. These are reported in the first person. This dual viewpoint is what makes the writing style of the author so unique.

Entertaining:
The first book focuses strongly on character development. It is really amazing to see how the characters grow with the story. The first book's purpose is to help understand the characters involved.

Cost Worth:
The Kindle edition of the book is available at INR 74, which is not a lot to begin with. Compare that with the entertainment, this is a pretty sweet deal. :)

Verdict:
The book has elements of sci-fi, fantasy, romance, and drama. The author has created an entirely new universe of her own (much like Harry Potter and Star Wars). I am looking forward to reading all the other books in this series. For all seasoned readers and lovers of fantasy and romance novels, this is a must-read.

Book Name: Codename: The Rift

Genre: Dark romance/ fantasy

Summary: Codename: The Rift is the first novel in a series of urban/dark fantasy novels and short stories. Readers have classified it as dark romance, dark fantasy, urban fantasy, sci-fi fantasy, shifter, and more. It is in multiple POV in epistolary style that will make you feel as though you are part of the action. It interconnects everything in the Rift like individual threads in a spiderweb.

My Opinion: I completed this book very recently and readers please mind me, this is a book you should not miss of you love stories based on intresting elements and imaginations. Rift is not just a book or story but it is actually a complete new world that you will enter once you start reading it. I will talk about how it is more and will talk less about what it has. Rift is as extraordinary and beautiful as the cover is but the storyline is isn't as easy breezy or simple. This is definitely one of those books that create an impact on the reader's mind very deeply. It has everything a reader might be looking for. I thoroughly loved and enjoyed it and I feel it's very engaging.

Good and Bad: I really liked how descriptive it is and it has so many minute details. I feel the speciality of the writing is the narration and details. You will need a few pages to understand but once you are in, you will fall in love.

My favorites from the book:

My favorite character is Delilah, a character who has the reminiscence of a strong female lead who can do anything. She is totally an inspiration and a character who keeps the readers very engaged.

Target Audience: 18+ audience will love it. Someone who is into dark fantasy will enjoy it too.

What to expect: Expect a storyline that is a mixture of all the genres in the best possible way, it has sci-fi terms and possibilities, fanatsy elements and the bad boy romance.

Final verdict: Rift is a massive book, it definitely need attention and the reader's heart, it's a book that kept me so engaged. I will surely suggest it to all the book lovers.

Rating: 4.5 /5

Oof....yeah what do i think about that book.
First of all, im German, English isnt my main language, but after around 200 english books and years now of youtube only in english, i would say i got pretty good.

I Got the book as a Review-Read, and i must say i was quite intrigued by how the description did read, and as i opened it up, i was slightly less enthusiastic about it.

You will very quickly see that this book isnt an easy read, its more on the complicated side where even i needed to google some of those nice big words that are mentioned in the first few pages alread.

Storywise was also......rather harsh for a first book. We knew nothing at all and then we come into a world where everything gets explained only very shallow at first. The company, The Rift, Shifters, the Main Characters themselves.....its all very very spotty and it takes a really long while to grasp the main idea of what is going on and how we get to connect the things. It gets just more complicated with so many different.....Species? i think i will say species to it and to differentiate them.
The Nice part tho on what i did read here and not so much on other books, was the aspect of the shifting that we also get to know very early on.
Where someone might think we have here two characters will quickly get the idea that its just one with a personality that could be described as almost schizophrenia. Its not bad at all i rather like this! Shifting and then having a different personality, really really nicely done! And you also learn to love booth sides.

All in all is the story complex and even if this book is already long, it could have needed some more careful explanation for me because i really needed to re-read alot to grasp the actual idea. But its intriguing and an interesting and refreshing read of that i usually read!

Codename: The Rift is unapologetic in the unique way it’s written – a series of private ‘company’ files not meant for our eyes and blog entries by various characters. It’s unapologetic about the complexity of each character – people aren’t outright good or bad; they are a fusion and have compound reasons behind everything they do (which I love!). However, in a universe where there are new species made of DNA and Magick, ways to affect and alter different realities and even secret dimensions the focus of the entire book, a bit frustratingly, is romance.

There are plenty of things to appreciate, for example, the whole idea of 'doubles', creatures born from the combination of specific traits combined with new skills and talents, all tailored to choice. And not everyone is eligible to get a 'double' as their partner; it’s reserved for the select few. This gives rise to a different form of societal prejudice, which, leads to some humans, well just one, Dona, to rebel. She tailors an entirely new species, the Androids, to be the mates for the rest of the population. (The Droids and Doubles later go to war, not detailed in this book but I'd really like to read more about that.)

All of these features make it a very interesting read but simultaneously difficult to follow. I feel that each idea was so brilliant that the less is more approach would have suited better. Perhaps, if the author had focused more on a fewer aspects in this book, for example maybe if the writer had focused on this new world, its creation and kept the focus on our protagonist, Delilah, and introduced a few characters at a time and built up the story slowly it would have made everything easier to process.

Holy Shifters Batman!
I loved the world building and the descriptions in writing the authors used. This was definitely different than most of the Paranormal Urban Fantasy I read, but I thoroughly enjoyed it.

There’s so much going on and I was lucky enough to be reading the box set so I didn’t miss a moment! It was dark and steamy with a touch of bloodlust! My favorite kind of books. Deli is strong and witty, and Taurus is enticingly yum. The twists and turns made me excited to see where it all went and I loved the character development.

If you enjoy a little paranormal steam withy fur and claws then give The Rift a try! Maybe open that vodka or gin for fun!

Codename: The rift

I received an epub copy from the author and I must say, it was a very interesting read. The genres says it all: action, dark fantasy, science fiction and romance.

The rift seems to occur in another realm, which gives the book a magical setting, really intriguing.

Each character of the book has distinct features, abilities and powers that make them unique. The author, taking her time to describe each one shows a dedication for the readers to understand the characters of the book.

As a lover of romance, the sexual tension is captivating and makes you want to read more.

A motion picture of CODENAME: THE RIFT won't be a bad idea.
