I’ve loved this series and Eternal Crime was a fitting way to close the case. My interest was piqued the whole way through from the first book through to the conclusion. Corruption is rife in this town, with underhanded deals, money being handed over under the table and people looking the other way. This instalment was well written with a twist or two to keep you guessing.
Detective Jo Calloway has to chase down the monster that she is related to. He is wanted for a heinous crime that was swept under the carpet years ago. Things have a funny way of catching up to us though and Kyle would never of expected his sister to witness his day of reckoning.
Detective Jake Thomas is faced with the truth he’s been avoiding. He has fallen head over heels for his partner. It took her being shot and the thought of losing her to give him that shove. With Jo out of action he is led on a trail of destruction by Kyle and he’s had to fall back on help from the hangman.
Kudos to the brilliant team that makes up W L Knightly for the climatic ending that has kept us in suspense!!! Nothing is ever cut and dry in their suspenseful story telling. Jake is run ragged with Jo recovering from being shot, and the wild goose chase Kyle and the Hangman have him on. The list of who to trust is a short not knowing how far the corruption runs. Kyle has reached a point of desperation to get Kendra that more victims are added. Now add a nosey reporter and even Ruth Ann from Speeds shows a little temper. There is hope when the FBI steps in until Jake sees who has been sent. The clock is ticking on who will find who first. Justice must be served, but where was justice when Madden's family was brutally murdered years ago?? The game ends here, but is there truly a winner?? A fantastic series and this ending fits. I just hate to say goodbye to a great cast of characters. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book and purchased a copy for my favorites collection. I'm wondering what this duo could possibly come up with next... and I'll be waiting.
This is the last and final book in the Hangman series. I have loved this series. It kept my interest and made me eager to read the next book in the series. This final book starts from where the previous book ended. Its a run to the finish line where Jake is on the hunt for Jo brother as he becomes the target of the Hangman. In this race, both Jo and Jake’s life is in danger. Will they come out of this in one piece? Will they manage to save her brother from the plans the Hangman has in mind for him? All will be revealed in this book. Lots of things happen in this book as they wrap up the storyline. I loved how the books have been written and that the series didnt lag or get boring anywhere. It kept your interest throughout. I enjoyed Jo and Jake’s interaction and how their relationship evolved into what it becomes in the final book. I was happy with the way the story developed. I received an ARC from the author. I voluntarily read this book in order to provide an honest opinion. This is my honest review.
I loved this series of 6 books about Detectives Jake and Jo. Jo is new to the force and hired to replace Jake who is retiring. Jake puts his retirement on hold to catch The Hangman who is killing his victims as retribution for the corrupt department that allowed the killer of his wife and child to go free. The Hangman's goal is to hang each of those paid to allow a Senator's son to go free. He forces each victim to play the child's game of Hangman with the word being spelled out naming their part in the freedom of the killer. Jake and Jo feel an instant connection but have difficulty making their feelings known and you can't help but feel for their missteps. I also felt compassion for the Hangman as his life and sense of justice was destroyed during the corrupt trial of his families murders. I was hooked early in the first book and never once felt displeased with any of the six books. Would highly recommend this series to anyone interested in a quality mystery series.
While I enjoyed this 6 book series I was a little (actually very) annoyed at the terrible editing and proofing. There are SO many errors and the writing and word choice is extremely repetitive. You could get black out drunk playing a drinking game to “he raked his hand through his hair.” I felt each book in this series was written in a more rushed fashion and by book six there were multiple errors in each chapter and the writing got worse.
Also, these detectives were so dumb! I couldn’t believe the decisions they were making. I could have solved these crimes in book one. I just kept thinking “are you dumb?”
Lastly, the relationship between the two detectives went from 0-60 and the dialogue between them in book six was odd. I just could not believe that Jake would use such words of endearment towards Jo. It was uncharacteristic of him and their relationship that they built through the first five books.
My favorite relationship and characters were that of Kyle and Kendra. Kyle is a sick f*ck and he made the books interesting.
All that to say, I still read all six books because I needed to know how it ended.
This is book 6 of The Hangman by W.L.Knightly [aka Ali Parker and Lexy Timms] and this has taken suspense to a new level. We have Jo recovering and thus leaving Jake basically on his own as he really doesn't know whom he can trust. Corruption runs deep in the department. The Hangman has one more person on his hit list and that is Kyle. But who will get to Kyle first Jake or the Hangman. The FBI has been invited in to help but trouble lies there when Jake sees who has been sent. This has been a fantastic series of suspense that has kept me turning page after page and reaching for each new book eagerly. But what an ending!! Looking forward to more stories by W.L.Knightly. I received a reader's copy of this book and voluntarily leave my honest opinion of it here. Most Definitely Recommended.
With Jo in recovery, Jake has to deal with corruption and chasing down Hangman by himself. There’s only one person left on the Hangman’s list, but will Jake get to him first?
What an amazing conclusion to the Hangman series! I couldn’t stop turning pages until the end! This book, as well as previous ones in this series, will pull you in and keep your interest all the way through. I’m never disappointed with this duo’s writing filled with suspense, mystery, twists and turns that keeps you on your toes! I’m sad to see such great characters go, but hope we will see more from detectives Jack and Jo sometimes in the future.
Holy wow! I didn’t know how this series could possibly wrap up everything in a satisfying ending where everyone gets what’s coming to them. It was a race to the finish to see who would capture who first. Does the Hangman win his game? Does Jake capture the bad guys? Does Kyle Young escape justice again? This story exceeded my wildest expectations, and even left my marshmallow heart in tears by the end. I could say lots of things about this book, but most of them would give away the best parts of the story. My best compromise is to say that this was the perfect ending to this thrilling series. I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book from the author.
The conclusion to Detective Jake and Detective Jo's hunt to stop Hangman's crusade for Justice, and to intercept Kyle before he strikes again, while corruption within the city prevails. With so many variables at play, and Jo out of the equation, ( or so he thinks ) Jake is hard-pressed to end the madness. So are Madden, Kyle, the Police Cheif, and half the city! The evil twists and turns, mixed with the suspense are front and center, as they have been with every book along with dark casualties and a pulse-pounding, heat-fueled, well-rounded ending- I cannot wait for more from WL Knightly. 4.5 stars
In the conclusion to the series, we are given even deeper access to Kyle & The Hangman's minds as they race against each other and the police department to enact their own brand of revenge. We are also given more insight as to how far up the chain the corruption surrounding Kyle has reached, shocking even Jake. Jake finally admits to himself that Jo means more to him than just an annoying woman that became his partner.
The ending was great. This was a very thrilling read. I really enjoyed it. I cannot wait to see what this writing duo will deliver to us next! I recommend the series, from beginning to end.
I voluntarily read & reviewed an ARC of this book.
What a Great Ending to this book! The Heartless killing of not one man, but two! I understand the reasoning behind the Hangman killing the people he killed, even though I don't agree with it, the killing spree that Kyle went on was just senseless! This book/series had me on the edge of my seat! I'm glad that in the middle of all the murders and attacks, there were a couple Happy Endings in Spite of! I think everyone who reads this book will enjoy it and I will definitely recommend this book to others!
Wow! What an amazing conclusion to such an exciting series! With Jo injured, Jake had to work double time to catch two killers before anyone else got hurt. There was so much action and excitement and some really anticipated interactions between Jake and Jo. The story was fast-paced and so hard to put down. I loved the entire series and found this conclusion to be the best. The perfect blend of crime, drama, romance and suspense. Outstanding!
An amazing end to the Hangman series that was well written. This intriguing storyline has Jake trying to catch two killers by himself. Jo was shot in the last book and has to recover. This has suspense, murder, twists and turns that had me devouring the pages. If you love a good murder thriller this is definitely one you need to read. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
An eventful end Spoiler Volume 5 The story is always exciting between the new murders, Kyle's fled after his attack against Jo and Danny, and the Hangman chasing Kyle who escaped by abducting Kendra with him. This last part is full of action, reversals, with a partially unexpected end. Even if there're still murders, the descriptions are less bloody than in the previous volumes. I thought it was a good last part of this series. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book
Fantastic finale to a fantastic series. I’ve been hooked on this series since book one, it’s got a bit of everything and it’s so refreshing to have a series with multi points of view these days. Too often books are written lately where you have a single point of view or only the two main character points of view, not with this series from the outset it gives you a glimpse into the minds of the hero and heroine as well as the killers perspective and then the victims too brilliant!
Really great ending to a marvelous series. All the characters are well filled out and the story a real pageturner. Jake and Jo are simply meant to be together even after all their trials and tribulations. The Hangman is so diabolical and bloodthirsty but sympathy builds for his situation as the plot unfolds. Never boring and a wonderfully appropriate conclusion. I eagerly awaited each and every episode in this series and highly recommend it.
Absolutely amazing. This is the finale in the Hangman series and it was definitely worth the read. Suspense, action and twists and turns result in a satisfying end. The question is was justice achieved?
Start the series at the beginning. Each book builds both the tension and twists. The WL Knightly team is building a reputation for suspense that never lets up. Well done! (I voluntarily reviewed an ARC).
With the Hangman still on the hunt for the last person he needs for justice, Jake is doing everything he can to find him. Jake knows Kyle Young is the remaining person and Kyle is eluding him too. As Jake closes in on them both who will have the final say?
This series was amazing.. Hoping we see more of the detective in future books
THRILLING Suspense! A bit of a frantic ending that was well worth the wait leaving me a bit sad that It's come to an end but extremely glad that it finally puts me out of my misery from all the riveting suspense and page turning twists that kept me addicted wanting more. A perfect ending that I enjoyed very much and would gladly recommend it and the entire Hangman series.
Finally the last book in the series! And finally we know what happens! I liked this series and what I liked the most (a part from the story, the characters and their relationships) is that every book is well written and has all the rights ingredients: perfect style, suspence, good dialogues and descriptions.
I like the works of W.L. Knightly and recommend this series!
Astounding conclusion to a suspenseful, intriguing series. The cast of characters were marvelous, developed, and caught up in one hell of a twisted chase. While I'm sorry to see this series conclude, I'll have hopes to see more of Jack and Jo in different cases. I voluntarily read an ARC and this is my honest review.
WL Knightly has done it again! Heart racing right up to the last paragraph! I was truly immersed in all the characters. And in sick way I'm very glad Madden completed his list to the end.
Don't wait on reading this series, it will keep you up wanting to read more and more
Great ending to a fabulous series. I can’t get enough of this author. Jake is hot on the heels of Kyle and the hangman, but who will get to who first???? Jo is recovering from being shot by Kyle but is still in the thick of it. Looking forward to more from this author
Loved this series. I enjoy the ‘who done it’ mystery that W.L. Knightly wrote. It was also very interesting in how the detectives Jake and Jo worked and played together. Great ending for this thrill ride six book series.
I really really love how the whole story wraps up. Everyone getting the justice and seeing happy ending for Jo and Jake makes me really happy. I never thought I would delve myself into a 6 books series. But I did and it's well worth it.

Twist and turning book I absolutely loved this can't wait to find another like it. You definitely will fall in love with this series if you love reading about Crime, justice and police . There's definitely some surprising that will WOW you.
I didn’t leave a review for each book in this series. Sorry. The twists and turns were amazing! Just when I thought the storyline was going one way it went the other. I was rooting for him the whole time.
Wow.... what a fab ending to a fantastic series. Really did enjoy it and it kept me on the edge of my seat all the way though. Great series and highly recommended
