Francis Paul Prucha was an American Jesuit, historian, and professor emeritus of history at Marquette University. Prucha was a leading authority on American Indian policy and the author of more than a dozen books on the subject.
As much as you might know about the people who influenced Indian policy and the goals they were pursuing, it's always useful to hear them in their own words, and this is a well-edited collection with many of the key figures (Dawes, Pratt, Morgan) from the assimilation era.
