The death of her beloved split Kate’s life into "before" and "after." For twelve long years, she condemned herself to loneliness so that she might reunite with him in heaven one day. Only a few days before she intends to take decisive action, the shadows of the past rise up in front of her, opening old wounds and offering the answers she’d been looking for. Denis's death no longer appears to her to have been an accident. But will she have enough strength and courage to prove to everyone that Denis was neither a coward nor a murderer?
The cover is beautiful. The artist did a great job.
I will start by saying that this book has potential with the help of a good editor. There are grammatical errors that are distracting. I also found myself confused with the timeline. Also, bringing in a doctor to help with the medical information would be beneficial.
I think that it would be helpful to know which part of the world this story takes place. Being that the book takes place in 2017, without any reference to internet research and very little mention of wireless phones, I found it to be confusing. If a person is trying to solve a mystery, the first place they start is the internet. If this story takes place in the third world country, I suppose it makes sense that there isn't internet access.
I always want to support independent authors and new voices. This one just didn't work for me.
I had such a hard time deciding how many stars to give this book. I like the idea and the fact that it's about grieving and letting go but then again that's not what the main character did at all. Until the very end of the book she is still trying to find answers and solve the case of her boyfriends death. Being agnostic, I didn't like how much space religion took in this book and how much suicidal was mention to be an unforgiving sin and was a cowardly act. I did like that it showed how much suicide can affect those around us though. I really wanted to feel bad for the main character but somehow I just didn't like her that much. To me this book was missing a little je ne sais quoi but I can't put my finger on it, I just felt like I would have loved to see some things brodcast more than others.
BOOK REVIEW Title: A Whisper From Beyond Author: Margo Ervand Format: eBook My Rating: 3/5 . Opening Thoughts: For authors that are new, learning, growing, writing and working hard I think it is important to have your work read and reviewed by a diverse group of readers. Bookstagram is an amazing opportunity for this. . Currently this title is available on KindleUnlimited (US), check it out for yourself. . Hard hitting topics such as grief, depression, and suicide are never easy to read or write. The main character Kate is 30, lives with her parents and is having a hard time with the death of a loved one that happened years ago, but recent events are stirring up old emotions. This is a light mystery and has an interesting resolution. As for constructive criticism this could use more editing/revisions, and some changes in the flow of the story. . . 💛 All opinions are my own.
• Kathy was through a lot. Her boyfriend died twelve years ago, but she's still stuck in the past. The therapies aren't helping at all and it seems, that this is what her life will look like. Sad and miserable, not able to move on. But twelve years later things start to unfold and change drastically..... • Oh my god. What can I even say? This book was so good, amazing from begging until the very end. You really get to know and understand Kathy and her struggles. The story is just so interesting. When you think that you already know who did it, everything goes tge other way and you're totally confused again. But Marget makes sure a reader is never bored. Her writing style is very vivid and you feel just like part of a story. • Definitely a great read for crime and mystery booklovers.
I’m just so confused right now. What’s going on, who the characters are, why the protagonist is floating around doing nothing except befuddle readers. The writing is terrible, in my opinion, and I can’t seem to be able even read a page before either sighing with exhaustion after wading through the words, or stopping suddenly like “what did I even read?”.
I cannot push myself to continue with this awful book.
