I have conflicting feelings about this book. On one hand, it beautifully depicts Williams struggles with his mental health and how the loss of his sister impacted his parents and subsequently himself. How the author describes each of the Padavanos is also wonderfully laid out with the connection between the sisters and each of their personalities.

What I struggle with is Sylvia and William ending up together. Their relationship is beautiful and meant to be but the impact it had on Julia and Alice was difficult to accept.

I guess it shows how forcing conformity to what is “expected” can have lasting and generational impacts.

This is my 2nd Ann Napolitano Book and I do enjoy her stories but at times I find them to be a little too slow for my taste. Very character driven and although it was slow in areas, I was intrigued enough to keep going to find out where the relationships were foing to land in this story. That being said, I really enjoyed the the last 1/3 of this book the most, bumping my rating up a star.
