You know what they say about wine, right? It gets better with age.
Christian: Assistant to the General of Fort Dale isn’t the easiest job, but I love it. Making General Winter’s life easier is worth every bit of hassle. He’s a good man, and I respect him…a lot. Of course, I’m toeing the line because, God, he’s hot too. Sure, he’s a lot older than me, but I know how to behave and our relationship is strictly professional…until I stumble across an email, with a video! Then suddenly, everything is different.
David: I’ve seen everything in my time running Fort Dale. It comes with the territory, being the big man on top. After almost ten years I honestly believe the hardest thing in my life is being tempted by my extremely capable, good looking and very young assistant. No, not going there, that’s a really bad idea! Things get worse when a ghost from my past shows up with blackmail on his mind, and suddenly…Christian is by my side. That’s when everything changes.
A relationship between them is taboo, forbidden. David is twenty years older and he’s Christian’s boss. Worse, he’s the General and it could ruin them both! Could they keep their feelings a secret? No one would find out…would they?

(Kindle Edition) The silver fox General and the young, blonde receptionist ! General David, 49, is a silver fox who likes his men younger. Christian, late 20s, is a great receptionist, a cute blonde soldier, who has a secret crush on the General.
Their working relationship is terrific, and when the General is blackmailed, Christian steps up to handle the slimy guy's threat. After that, David asks Christian over for dinner to thank him, and that leads to more than food, and their sexy time is super hot. Then they begin to tell each other's pasts and become closer. Is it against the rules, you bet.
With a new, different blackmail attempt, our guys stick together and find the brightness. I would have liked more heat, and a deeper bond between our guys, but I liked the younger/older, so I am happy. Nice epilogue. Enjoy !
This wasn't my favorite of the series which is too bad because I was really looking forward to their story. I still liked the characters but I really wish there was more to it. It seemed to need to be longer for everything that happened, IMO.
Great one to end the series! This might shape up to be one of my new favorite series, and a surprising fact given that I did not set out wanting to read it since its military based. I was really glad though, that I unexpectedly decided to pick this entire series up out of curiosity and to challenge myself.
As with the other books, several elements are interwoven with each individual books and we had had glimpses of General David Winter and Christian from books past. So it was with anticipation, and a touch of dread that a May-December romance would be written well enough for me to like, that I approached this final book in the series.
Don't get me wrong, I do love me a good May-December because I have a penchant for older guys myself, but some of the age gap romances I had touched on previously just felt too forced, and focused too much on the age differences, the age of the older person in the relationship and not much else. This though was totally fun and seriously hot. The age differences were of course touched on, but not to an extent where you feel sorry for the "old git". It was more of an observation on the level of differences in their personalities, maturity and communication than anything else. The fact that they had an age difference did not in anyway detract from how well they suited and complimented on each other.
I liked David's seriousness and steadfast approach to his job but also getting glimpses of his personality out of uniform. And I loved Chrisitan's loyalty and his resourcefulness in handling issues but also his fun and playful side. The both of them exuded great chemistry and their sexual comparability was off the charts here. That might very well be my love of older men tinting my glasses, but who cares.
The plot was great, and I did very much enjoy the blackmail storyline as well as leading up to the disgusting Phillip character being revealed to be the asshole mastermind of it all. Oh yes, I figured it out pretty early on, but it still brought me a certain measure of surprise when it was revealed it was him after all. That blackmail plot weaved pretty seamlessly into the whole story of David and Christian coming together, and i thoroughly enjoyed Christian jumping in to best that dastardly Ethan from getting his way and a fat check. I also enjoyed the fact that the attraction between David and Christian was slow and simmering and that the gratification came later on, instead of them jumping each other first chance they have.
Really, really great series and I do wish there were more books featuring the men of Fort Dale. Will be revisiting this series many times to come in future.
Both General Winters and Christian have made contributing appearances in the previous 4 books and now we are privy to their working and personal relationship; a May/December liaison . Characters from these other books make slight background appearances that give credence to the public and private relationship working between these two. Their secret affair is threatened but both deal with the possible exposure in their own way. Each helps the other in facing challenges and the ending is a realistic one as regards to dealing with military protocol. As with the other pairs their futures are successfully tied together. This final book was a pleasure for me to read. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. Though I was given an ARC of this story I also took the opportunity to buy this story when it was released.

I adored this piece! The build up was slow and beautiful, the characters were fun and unique. The plot was interesting and creative. All around this was a well written and well performed story. Michael Ferraiuolo did a fantabulous job with this story. He always brings life to all the characters he writes. I love his work and always look for stuff he’s done over other narrators.
I've been meaning to catch up on (binge-read) the rest of Romeo Alexander's works for a while now. I just realized that most of the Men of Fort Dale novels are relatively short, so here's to binge-ing. "At My General's Command" is the fourth book in the series ["You know what they say about wine, right? It gets better with age.

These two. My goodness! *heart eyes*
From all the other books in this series, you could really tell how in-sync these two were, how well they worked together. Seeing it from their perspectives was glorious and adorable.
And then adding in the mutual pining and the mutual attraction and the mutual lust? Oh, boy. These two were electrifying. And terrifyingly halfway in love before it even got serious. I love that for them. :)

David was at the end of his rope his older sister loved nothing more than to badger him until he gave in and talked to her at forty-five he didn't think he was an old man nowhere even close. He knew some people didn't get the fact that he was into both men and women that wasn't his problem. Christian's sister was pushy and couldn't control herself the fact she'd kept harassing her would be boyfriend who did respond back. He was suppose to be working but David caught himself fantasizing about the man in front of him but he couldn't go there he was his superior. David was livid by the message he'd just received and even more so with what was attached to it. He never saw this coming and he honestly was at his wits end on how to deal with this kerfuffle. Christian did his job to the best of his abilities even shuffling schedules and dealing with cops with there noses out of joint but he just stumbled across a proverbial land mine. David about had a coronary he'd been overwhelmed and hadn't deleted the on email and now he had a sinking feeling Christian had seen it left with little choice he asked him to his office for a more private chat. Neither one really wanted to have this kind of talk however the elephant in the room wasn't getting any smaller but there was still time. Christian knew David didn't have to trust him but he was in rock and hard place nevertheless all he asked was for him to have a little faith in him. It didn't take much to find the little creep to set his plan into motion and by the end he'd achieve check and mate without the idiot being non the wiser. As they talked about curiosity and alcohol the conversation seemed to take on a whole new meaning. Bold as brass David didn't hesitate to make the first move and it was long before Christian was returning his own in kind. Be prepared after all danger could be standing on your doorstep.

I don't normally read m/m books. Nothing against it, obviously just never picked up one. I found the two straights to many book by accident and ending up after loving that one binge reading this series.
I'm anxiously hoping there will be a visit back to the base and the conclusion of Matt and Nick who drove me crazy. Best friends? Not with that fighting. They were definitely not JUST friends.
This book.... May/December is not my usual thing. Sometimes it's cringe worthy in my head thinking of such an age difference, but when it's done will? I couldn't stop.
I have a bad feeling after reading b the fourth book that marco, who we liked because he was the good guy turning Dean loose... Turned out to be the "friend" mentioned towards the end by the jerk phil.
The fact that all of these stories are happening over the same period of time is fun. You get little tidbits of everyone's romances or thoughts about things that happened in the other books.. it's awesome truly lol.
I don't want to say goodbye to this base though. I feel so attached to all the men here. I was hoping and maybe paired ricardo and marco up in my head... But now.... Ricardo deserves someone better. Way better, plus I need to see Matt and Nick fix things.
This entire series had me wanting more so why am I only leaving one review tonight? Because I want to spend more time finding more to read
Christian has been working as an assistant for General David Winters for a year now, and has always found him to be extremely attractive, even though he is 20 years his senior. David Winters is almost 46, his sister is bugging him about his love life and he's trying to figure out how to re-structure people on the base but it's not going well. Of course, David's life gets even crazier when an ex-fling blackmails him with a video of the two of them. To make matters even more awkward for General Winters, Christian ends up seeing the video, and gets a little turned on? and a whole lot flustered... The two men must now work together to stop the blackmailer, and in the meantime they might just realize that the attraction they feel isn't as one-sided as they both think.
Both men have popped up in the first four books for a while now, and I have been eagerly waiting for their book to happen. I honestly wasn't expecting Christian and David to be the focus of a novel, maybe because there wasn't a lot of interaction between them in the other books, but it was a surprise that I enjoyed! I really found myself drawn to David. He was so stoic and serious, but yet his interactions with Christian he leaves his guard down and is such a sweet guy. I love this series, and I highly recommend reading this book!
I was really hoping that Christian would get his own book and I’m so glad he did! I didn’t read the blurb before I started listening to this so I really had no idea that it was about Christian and DAVID!! Oh my, what a delightful surprise.
I’m not usually hot for taboo or age-gap books with such a big gap but I absolutely loved this one. The performance by Michael Ferraiuolo was probably a big contributing factor. He really outdid himself with the different voices he used in this book.
This story has a little bit of everything in it, including some mystery and a big twist that I didn’t see coming at all. There’s a nice amount of sexy time and I really loved how everything between Christian and David didn’t come easy. They had some hard decisions to make in order for their relationship to work and I thought that made the story that much richer.
I’ve only got one book left to listen to in this series (My Kind of Christmas) and I really hope that Michael Ferraiuolo will be doing the audiobook for it.
A complimentary copy of this audiobook was provided to me but my review was voluntary and not influenced by the author and/or narrator.
Story is WAY, too short! Christian, still the administrative assistant extraordinaire, has started paying attention to General Winters and thinking about paying attention. He started noticing him as a man, but ignoring it. General Winters was still the focused, stern but fair person who ran the base and appreciated Christian keeping his office life on point! Christian saw something he shouldn't in the General's email that led to a shift in their relationship. They crossed the line and fraternized, an indescretion in the top 5 of things not to do in the military! Do they continue? Do they get caught? Whose career is ruined? Can they have a relationship? Very nice story! Finally, great to have Gen Winters personalized. Christian is more amazing than in previous stories. Their challenges and how they handle them are entertaining. I would have liked a longer story to follow their lives. I would have liked to hear more about Lily and Mary, Christian's sisters. Excellent series. Mr Alexander has done an excellent job! I received an ARC from Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This last book in the series didn't disappoint. The older man and younger man dynamic didn't feel weird to me. I think because they were colleagues who respected each other and more so kind of like friends...even though David was the general while Christian was his admin assistant. After Christian helped the general out with some difficulty he found himself in, everything changed...the bond they had got stronger. The intimacy they shared was bound to happen and it was extremely hot. I think their relationship, before it got physical, was genuine. Like I said in reviews of the previous books in this series, I like the fact the events were simultaneously going on in all the stories. It was a different approach then I'm use to and it was wonderful. Only thing I didn't too much like in this book was the epilogue. I was happy with Christian's choice in career but where it took him leads me to think that him and the general might not have a long lasting relationship but it was lovely regardless. It didn't make me change the rating one bit...Still loved it!

I loved this book! My first glimpse at Romeo's work and I was not disappointed! A wonderful story about two men who work together every day and are brought closer by blackmail. General David Winter is a well respected and hard working man. His assistant, Christian, is just as hard working. Things change between the two when a past lover of David's tries to blackmail him with a video of the two of them together. Christian, caring about his boss, steps in with a plan of his own to save the day. It works and the two soon find themselves unable to resist each other any longer. Things are going well until someone else in their lives steps up to try to take something from David and he turns the tables. This leads to David and Christian being able to continue their relationship in secret until Christian moves on to something else, allowing them to finally express their love for each other freely!

General Winters runs a tight ship with the help of his assistant Christian. The general doesn't seem to have much of a social life but what little he dose have seems to have come back to haunt him now he has blackmail to deal with the blackmailer wants money or some very dirty pictures and video may be given to command this could ruin him but when his assistant Christian stumbles upon it in his email he decides to help the General out. Soon both Christian and the Genral David are in new territory with there relationship but someone else wants to cause the General problems there appears to be more then one blackmail scheme going on. This is probably not my favorite of the Fort Dale books and its not the Authors fault I just didn't care much for the General David Winters his mistakes lead to his problems and he states that he's bi but he never tells Christian that so that buged me other then that it was a good read and I hope this isn't the last we see of Fort Dale and its soldiers.
I was allowed to read and advance copy of this book via Booksprout and this is my honest review.
I'm going to be honest: I'm not really a fan of age gap romances. I do still read them sometimes if the rest of the book sounds good or they are from an author/series I like. (Which is why I read this one.)
The fact is, this one wasn't bad. It wasn't good, though, either.
It wasn't bad because David and Christian are both mature adults that can actually deal with the ramifications of their relationship well enough and do not go into it blindly.
It wasn't good though, because for me to really like an age gap romance, there has to be a twist. This one is about as straightforward as you can get: David is older, Christian's superior in the military, his direct boss, as well as being dominant in bed and a top.
It's not as problematic as most age gap romances I've read, but it's still problematic by default of being an age gap romance. (Though, if you are a fan of the trope, it's a solid read with a pair of likable guys and...too much focus on the sex for me.)
... there is power in showing someone how you feel...
I think what I loved most about this done in one page turner was the way Christian showed the General not just that he respected him, but how he truly felt about him. Often in romance stories the line ‘do you trust me’ is thrown about, but in this story we have seen so many interactions between these characters, and heard about still more, that the answer is beyond obvious, and feels genuine and earned.
There are some fun family dynamics in this story, an interesting use of foster families and relationships, and a sense of community on the base.
All in all, I really enjoyed this stand alone story, the first one I’ve read in this series, it made me curious to read others.

I knew the minute I saw which the two MCs were, I was gonna love it!!! It did not disappoint other than I wished it had been longer, drawn out with more details for the plot development. Characters were awesome! This overlaps with books 2&3 so we get to see Team Maelstrom's plot from the other side of thing breifly, and we got a little cameo of Oscar when he starts at the desk. The MCs dynamic was natural and flowed beautifully. The humor and sass from Christian was on point, and David's blackmail plot was exciting unique.
The General (David)and his assistant (Christian) of just a year have the perfect working relationship. Then David finds himself into trouble with no solution until Christian asks to help. It was a good but tense mystery. Jobs are on the line at every turn. The spice was good.
At My General's Command is a really sweet story in the Men of Fort Dale series. It's about David, General Winter, and his much younger assistant Christian. May/December romances are one of my favorite and this one didn't disappoint, it had me engaged from beginning to end. It's sometimes odd how negative circumstance can turn into positive ones. David finds himself being blackmailed by someone from his past and Christian takes it upon himself to help David out, which only brings them closer together. They really are good for each other and I'm glad they found a way to be together out in the open. I recommend this book and series.

There were four or five times in the first half of this book that I thought, "meh, toss it." Then the two characters, David (the General in the foreground) and his personal assistant, Christian (also military), started to feel human after a surprise crisis threatened to destroy one of them.
After that I rolled through it rather quickly, and despite what I thought was too much action in the bedroom when the two came together I got through it. Now, you might ask why I would object to too much sex and I would clarify my observation by saying there seemed to be a need to make the heat between a 46-year-old man and his 25-year-old assistant seem unquestionably legitimate. I think it could have been done with a bit more subtlety, but it still worked in the end.
Age gap and a workplace relationship. Oh yes, this was so good! Both Christian and David (or, well, General Winters because it’s so sexy to call him with his title) are great characters. I loved their relationship so much, even before they started anything between the two of them, the ease with which they were with each other was a true pleasure to read! I loved how fiercely protective and loyal Christian is, and I loved reading about them adjusting to the new circumstances when they start their liaison. I really enjoyed this book, and, not having read the previous ones in the series, I can attest that it can truly stand alone. But, I want to read the others anyway because the other couples look so good, also!
I’m really enjoying the Fort Dale series. If you’re looking for technical military operations, these aren’t the books for you. They’re loosely military generalities focusing on relationships.
What has been cool is the previous characters are pulled into each of the following books. You see things from other angles and learn more about the characters. I like that a lot.
Christian is a twenty-something assistant to General Winter. He’s been in his office for just over a year when the story begins. General Winter is about forty-five and is bisexual. He’s always kept his personal life off base. He’s got a set of strict rules he follows for dating… but things change when he and Christian bond over an indiscretion riddling the general.
I read this book in a day. It’s overall a very easy read. I was really looking forward to General Winter’s story and I was a bit let down by it. There is just very little (if any) chemistry between Christian and David. I also did not like that they were constantly referred to as the older and younger man. Early on both characters agree Christian is a not a kid, so the continuous mention of their age felt forced. There is nothing inherently wrong with this book, I just did not feel the chemistry between the two. I did like it took place at the same time as the previous books in this series. The epilogue was not believable and as far as HEA goes, I think if it were real it would be temporary.
First of all I am really impress at how this series intertwines. Things start out bumpy for David, then Christian steps in to help with his problem only to become closer to the man he respects and enjoys being around. Things at the base are starting to take shape. Very smooth and sadly very quick read. Do wish this series could continue but all good things must come to an end and this series ends on a very good note. If you are going to jump in and read this book you might want to rethink that because you will get a lot more enjoyment out of it if you start from the very first book in this series.

It's sad to see this series end but it was a wonderful ending. The attraction between David and Christian is hot and steamy! Christian comes across a steamy video and all bets are off. He is caught in the act and must answer for his, on the job lustful thoughts. His blush tells David he is watching something he shouldn't be and once he is called into the General's office both their lives change. There is some intrigue and revenge also some comedy and I must say this might be my favorite! I hope you give this book a try because I'm sure you will enjoy it too!

Good character development and an interesting storyline. David is a well respected, extremely busy General. Christian is his very competent personal assistant, he is sweet, funny, and has an optimistic outlook on life. They have been secretly attracted to each other and doing well ignoring it until an incident arises, loyalty is proven, and passions are set free. However, they have work situations to resolve and more trouble to get through before they can truly relax and enjoy the love they have been waiting for.
