Not gonna lie, I wanted to finish this book quickly so I could move on to a different book.
I love the concept behind this book, Law of Attraction, where "what you think becomes true". In fact, this book tries to be like one of my favourite books - 'Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill'. However, this book comes a lot closer to 'The Secret' book, where many feel-good stories are told, nothing in-depth and any difficult details are omitted. I.e. it is very woo-woo.
The book is about 50% practicing the "Having" mindset (where you correct your relationship with money and feel that you deserve it) and 50% about how great the Guru is (who teaches the author). My criticism is that they oversold the Guru way too much that I felt skepticism growing in me the more I read. Below are few things mentioned about Guru that made me feel this way:
-Guru, since age of 6 had a knack for Financial knowledge / Mystical powers and just knew how to become wealthy... (gosh I wonder what I was doing at age 6, probably eating dirt off playground)
-Business owners would visit the Guru when she was age 10 to ask for advice on their business (imagine being an investor to find out that the CEO visited a 10 year old girl to ask for Business advice... imagine being the dad of the 10 year old girl and having weird business man ask your daughter for advice? I'd be very suspicious)
-Guru has studied many rich people and financial markets. It is stated that she was well-versed in Stock Market, Real Estate and Commodities. I think it is fascinating to be knowledgeable in one of these but all of them? Come on. Guru also gives out relationship advice (i.e. do this and you'll meet your future husband).
-Guru is in hiding of people who want to ask her for advice. However, Guru makes time for the author and gives her all the advice she needs to write this book.
-Guru has helped many people in Financial Markets. Not always but Financial Market could be a Zero-Sum Game (if someone wins then someone is losing). If she helped two competitors, would both of them become rich? Will it be a battle of the Having thoughts?
This review kind of became a rant, but I really do believe in Law of Attraction and the positive effects of "Having" mindset. However, this book does not detail that success and wealth isn't just a positive mindset alone but the daily grind, up & down days, resilience and passion, it does not even try to help you to cultivate skills/mindset to make money but rather just receive money. It touches very briefly on meditation, Tao Te Ching and being in the present moment but not merely enough.
I think for anyone who has never read a Law of Attraction book might find this interesting, but there are books that do it better (Ask and it is given, Master Key Systems, Think and Grow Rich, Tao Te Ching and Zen Buddhism books). There's so much more than money to Law of Attraction. I understand this book is targeting the major population with "money" but I feel it had potential for a lot more!
