A 17 year old girl lives with her father, who was special forces and he has terrifying nightmares. She is almost raped at a school dance. Six boys were involved, two of them didn't actually participate. We find out that the girl has only one friend and she may be imaginary - only she isn't. The boys come from "good" families, but they are starting to turn up dead. There are several suspects, but the police can't seem to tie anyone to the crimes. This is a very well written horror story. It has some elements that are found in some other books, but the story works. There is descriptive violence so this book may not be for everyone. For fans of horror, I recommend this book.
Since the separation of her parents, Lola has withdrawn herself, and starts talking to herself or her imaginary friend maybe, especially after the incident of falling into a deep well.. Dean, Lola’s dad, is sure worry about her, and to ease the tension and to show his love for her, Dean has encouraged Lola to attend the school prom… However, things just got worse, even sinister, after that.. One by one, three boys, who also attended the prom, are found dead, in a harrowing way… The brilliant Caroline Clark has expertly twisted the components of mystery, hideousness, hatred and vengeance into a heart-pounding fast-paced horror story.
This is by far my favorite book written by this author. Even as I sit here writing this review, the hairs on the back of my neck are standing. This well developed storyline full of hurt, anger, vengeance and salvation will keep you tangled in its web until the bitter end.

I gave this book 3 stars but 3.5 would have been a fairer score. The story reminded me of the film "Carrie", when an introverted and abused young woman wreaks vengeance on her tormentors. This story was fast moving and quite gripping but, unfortunately, the characters lacked depth. Worth reading though.
High school bullying with a supernatural twist. After constant bullying and being thrown into a well, a malevolent spirit inhabits a girl in order to save her. Well paced with empathy, revenge, and a touch of witchcraft. Perfect for YA and adult readers. I was gifted this from the author.
