A WICKED WARRENS storyIt's "Look, but don't touch." Until the object of Hailey's fantasies catches her looking and demands she touch him. Everywhere. Hailey Jennison is smart, funny and, unfortunately, stacked like a blonde brick house. She's well aware the impact her looks have on the male gender, and she hates it. Socially awkward, she keeps to a safe, boring routine, meeting friends once a week for dinner, some laughs, and entertainment. Entertainment comes in the form of a little harmless voyeurism, watching the living, breathing sex god across the quad parade around his apartment half-naked. Hailey watches and yearns, indulging in this weekly fantasy that almost--but not quite--satisfies her every desire. When Gage catches Hailey in the act of ogling him, he gives her a choice--go out with him, or he'll call the cops. But he has no intention of calling the law down on every man's wet dream. For he's been watching her, as well. And he has plans to fulfill her naughty fantasies.

This is a great short read for in between books. Especially when looking for something more along the smutty side. Not a lot of depth, besides the penetration ;) but it was a sweet and sexy insta-love story.
2.5 stars. Just too short and not as developed as it should/could have been. I won't be continuing the series if this is what I can expect to get. Not a bad idea, just slightly lacking in execution.

I read this book a few years back and remembered how much I enjoyed it and decided to do a re-read.
This story is about a shy, reserved woman trapped in a strippers body. She and her girlfriends are having a get together and notice a man standing in his window across the way completely naked. He notices her as well but they do not act on their instant attraction to each other. The mystery man, who the girls named Mr Tool, becomes their weekly show. He struts his stuff, while working up the courage to ask her out, and she fantasized about him regularly.
Very hot and steamy with some laughs as well. Great family dynamics between Gage and his brothers Dylan and Derrick, and their Mum, Barbara.
At the time when I originally read this it was the first in the series and none of the others were out, now there are 4 more. I will definitely be checking them out.
Enjoying The Show is one of those books I’ve read multiple times; I simply love the humor and the connection between the two main characters. It’s hard not to like an ultra sexy man with a crush who decides to blackmail the object of his affection into a date. Equally intriguing is a woman who is disturbingly sexy but hates her body and shies away from male attention. Add in the fact that they both have problems talking with the opposite sex, intimacy issues, and one is a peeping tom and the other has paraded around naked to grab attention….you have one hell of an interesting combination!
This is one fun book from beginning to end and you will be constantly entertained. Hailey and Gage embark on a sexual relationship right away but then feeling that might be all there is between them, they slow things down. I really enjoyed them going from instant lust to dating. It was fun watching them suffer through the changes in their relationship and finding their way back to intimacy. Their sex scenes were scorching hot and Gage’s love of dirty talk highly entertaining especially when he gets Hailey to participate.
I found Gage’s family, his twin older brothers Dylan and Derrick, and their Mom to be almost as entertaining as Hailey and Gage. Despite the constant teasing, bickering, and sometimes unwanted advice, you can feel the love and acceptance that flows from these people. These scenes contain some of the best lines and I love how their Mom always catches them making inappropriate remarks, it’s flat out funny!
This is a quick and enjoyable story, one that I find hard to put down even though I’ve read it before. The characters are charming and funny, the plot amusing, and the ending will leave you more than satisfied.
I don't really know how I feel about this book. Dissapointed maybe?
Some parts were good and some parts were bad. Really bad.
The Good
I like Gage. I like Gage quite a lot actually. But I'm not sure about the prancing-around-naked aspect to turn Hailey on. It was all quite a bit messed up to say the least. The book had promise and maybe it's me.
Dear Book,
I'm in the mood for a lovely deep and heart-wrenching beauty of a romance. This was light fluffy fun-ish. If you're in that kind of mood, go for it. And I have read Erotica before, but this made me feel,
Oh, wait this is meant to be the Good. Well there's not much good. Some bits were quite funny and I loved the twins - Gage's twin brothers. They were sweet and funny.
The Bad
I didn't like Hailey. Not one bit. Which is a crying shame considering a lot of it was her POV so I should have connected. I just didn't. She, too me, was a bit of a hypocryte. She hates that guys check her out for being hot (get over your looks, hun) yet she is attracted to Gage purely cause he stripped and waltzed around his apartment. Worse still, she invades his privacy, so to speak. Urrg she was just plain annoying.
And there relationship was self-proclaimed (by themselves) to be centered around sex. Hell, he said I Love You staright up after a couple of dates and a BJ. Real romantic.
I found a lot of it was very hard to believ and fair enough it was a short book so Marie Harte had to keep to the point, but I have read tons of short romances and they all go perfectly and I have no problems. This book however, had me a bit pissed off.
I wanted to shout to Hailey,
Anyway, I would not reccomend this book because it was not enjoyable at all.
What was the worst part?
On a parting note, let me summarise this whole catastrophe for you.
In gifs of course, so much more fun!
Gabe and Hailey mindest
Then they meet
There is a lot of
Basically, they're dynamic seems to be
But eventually, they think huh? tell me about yourself...
well. They seemed satisfied. The author pretty makes up a load of bull.
Fav colours/movies etc. and suddenly cause they like the same stuff THEY ARE SOULMATES YAYYY!!
Urgg spare me
Literally every chapter you'll be like...
You're answer : YES
And there is your answer. Should you read this? NO NO NO, SAVE YOURSELF!!
Really cute read. Her insecurities and "issues" started bugging me, but I loved that he didn't give up on her because of them. This is sort of a twist on friends-to-lovers in that they weren't friends first. But he'd noticed her six months before he "caught" her watching him and had done his homework on her. Sounds a little stalkerish when it's written like that, but he wasn't following her around or doing anything stalkerish that way. I really hope this will be a series... Gage's brother was working toward starting a relationship with Hailey's best friend. And the other brother... he could still be bi, it wasn't stated for certain... maybe we'd get a nice menage out of that one. :-) Those Warren boys sound very yummy. :-)
Another short fast and hot read. The hero has two older hot brothers. I wouldn't mind reading about them either. Would have liked this to be a full length story.
I really wished it was written longer. The story is fast-paced, not dull, really cute and quite funny. The sex is AMAZING, they both have the hots for each other long before they actually meet like falling in love at first sight and just don't have the courage to 'approach and to ask out' (especially with Gage to Hailey and in actuality that Gage is the first one to notice and be extremely attracted and be obsessed with Hailey) and Hailey's overcoming of her doubts and insecurities with Gage's feelings with her and with their relationship if it's just based all about on having mind-blowing sex because threading to her 'failed' past relationships which somehow made her afraid to trust and love again completely. Okay WHAT MORE CAN I SAY?? I'm having quite a difficulty here sharing my thoughts...hmmm All I can say is that this is a great read albeit a short one, they're just beautiful and perfect for each other. Gage, the gorgeous dark-haired and grey eyed hottie also has difficulty in having women or his 'woman' to not get 'turned-off' when he starts 'talking' but is really great in sex and doesn't have difficulty when attracting women because it's just simply effortless for him meaning he's that gorgeous and hot and ladies just practically fawn over him but still has his share of failed relationships because of his big mouth and Hailey who is also a BOMBSHELL, who every guy wants and desires and who every ladies envied and scorned a bit(because of her above average good-looks), who is blond and brown eyed and beautiful, voluptuous but also slender (like a stripper's body) also has her share of failed relationships because of what she believes that she's boring, dull and frigid. And even though she has a perfect beautiful body and pretty face, she doesn't have much 'luck' when it comes to men and doesn't really enjoy and like sex but not until Gage came into her life. :)
And another thing, you'll be slightly bewildered and in disbelief in finding how Hailey 'met and saw' Gage for the FIRST TIME and that's also where the story will go and evolve so you have to read it to find out for yourself :p
There's a really funny line in this book that really made me laugh
WELL OBVIOUSLY THERE'S A HIDDEN RIBALD MEANING ON WHAT AMY SAID LOL
I admit, I’m really not a fan of love-at-first-sight novellas. I’ve never been a big believer in it. However, I am happy to say that this love-at-first-sight novella had me sighing in contentment. I was quite pleased with it. The male character was confident without being overwhelmingly arrogant or overbearing. It was a nice change from the annoyingly perfect, completely in control, real-tough-male material I see a lot these days. He acted like a real, normal human – especially around his family. It made the story seem real to me, instead of a fairy tale. The characters also have a mini-fight and a mini-make-up, making it seem all the more believable.
Our heroine, Hailey Jennison, first spots construction worker Gage Warren (aka Mr. Tool) out her friend’s apartment window. His curtains are open and he’s wonderfully attractive, sinful, soulful, and… naked? Yes, my fellow readers, Gage Andrew Warren parades around his house in his birthday suit with the curtains open. Anyone can see him. Hailey does. And she tells her friends who gather at the apartment every Friday night to hang. They now have a new activity to add to their list of Friday night activities for the next few months – watching for Mr. Tool and his… hammer. He does not disappoint.
Finally, one day, Mr. Tool catches them staring and confronts Hailey after practically dragging her (the Neanderthal!) upstairs to his apartment. He coerces a dinner from her. They greet, eat, and their privates meet – quite explosively, I might add. The sensual scenes, if you like quick, passionate lovin’, are well-written and frequent. The characters are consistent and true to themselves. It’s, overall, a really good story of love at first sight developing into a relationship.
The only bad comes at the beginning. Indeed, Gage comes off as a bit of a stalker. While staring at her breasts and forcing her to go on a date with him (the alternative being jail), he talks about how he knows her name, where she lives (she recently moved to a cottage), etc. when they've never met before. And it’s creepy. Really, downright creep. Luckily, he doesn’t remain a creep but becomes a rather endearing, loveable guy who can’t cook but is happy to help clean the dishes. Endearing? I thought so. After so many unhelpful, arrogant, contemptible male romance characters who wouldn’t do the dishes if their life depended on it (a**holes!), he was a fun and comfortable break.
“Sexy”ness rating: Lots n lots of hots! (possible kink alert: oral)
Overall Rating: B
Bottom Line: If you like good, fast fun or love-at-first-sight stories here’s a quickie for you!
The beginning was hysterical. The middle cute. The end was fine but I wanted more. Really, she should have kept the girlfriends in the mix of the story. She wrote that best. Basically, guy sees girl and wants girl but she is known to reject all men. So he waits and plots and damn if she doesn't move. Fortunatey her girlfriend lives across from him so when he sees the girls spying on him when he is naked he puts on a show and continues to do so every friday for three months just because he likes that she is looking at him. He makes his move by telling her he will contact the police about their spying if she doesn't take him to dinner. Well, she's been fantasizing about him for 3 months, heck yah she's going... and from there hot sex and a relationship ensues... I enjoyed it. I flew through it. I certainly don't regret reading it. But there wasn't much meaty about it. Nothing to keep me from forgetting about it after I start my next book. Pick it up for the light fluff it is. Acutally, light fluff sells well doesn't it? Jennifer Crusie..lots of light fluff. This is just shorter than that. Enjoy.
Despite her blond bombshell looks, Hailey Jennison isn't interested in attracting men and has an aversion to being pawed. She prefers a quiet night in with her friends watching the gorgeous hunk across the way. But when said hunk catches them in the act, he blackmails her into a date and Hailey realizes that he has been watching and fantasizing about her as well.
Short, sweet, and not nearly as creepy as the premise suggests.
Hailey and Gage are both very appealing characters and surprisingly well-developed for such a short format. Their romance is engaging and relatively angst-free.
The interactions between Gage and his brothers are delightful, and I look forward to reading their books.
Glad it was short or I wouldn't have finished it. Obviously an early effort by Ms. Harte because it was not on par with the writing in her other series. Instead of coming off as cute and romantic it was a couple creepy stalkers with a side helping of sexual harassment.
This novella is pretty terrible. The writing is the exact opposite of what it should be. Good writers “show” rather than tell. The only “showing” in this story was boning.
Hailey gets annoyed with dudes for objectifying her because of her bangin’ bod, then she turns around and does the same thing to Gage. Their relationship is all sex until Gage proves to Hailey he also likes her personality. Too bad that part of the book was only told to the reader, because I certainly couldn’t find personality in either of them.
Hailey and her friends have been watching this stranger in his apartment across the way every Friday night. It's their girls night routine. One night this stranger catches them watching. He sees Hailey going to her car and stops her. What will she do now that she's been caught?
It's hysterical how the girls call Gage "Mr. Tool". It's nice how Hailey has a girls night with her friends. I like how Hailey thinks about Gage more than just on Fridays. I jumped when Gage stopped her. What Gage did to get Hailey to go on a date with him is not something I was expecting. Their date was cute. I adore Gage's family. The ending was nice. It's a cute short read.
A short and steamy instalove novella. I really enjoyed the ‘only in romance novels’ set up where he catches her spying on him through the window (spoiler: he’s been putting on a show) and blackmails her into a date.
The mood was very much steamy and lighthearted, although I did find the vocab during the sex scenes a bit… clinical.
I listened to the audiobook (free on Hoopla) and it was good as a palate cleanser.
A spicy novella with a fun storyline but it fell a little flat for me. It was ok, but I didn’t really connect with any of the characters and I wouldn’t have finished it within a timely manner if the audiobook was any longer. It wasn’t my type of book, but someone else may like it if they’re looking for some spicy scenes and like a voyeur experience!
Library Book Interesting first book in series. She and a group of girl friends watch the guy across the way Mr.Tool. She finally meets are man and they com bust. Short and hot.
This wasn't bad. Not a keeper that I would re-read again in the future, but it had an actual plot that I was curious as to how it would pan out. The next books in the series seem to be less on a plot and more on erotica. But this book was entertaining enough for sure.
Forgettable, full of romance clichés, and the plot hinges on some odd logic, like blackmail with threats of police action against women who routinely watch the guy they can see from their window, and some red-flag-level snooping to learn more about the girl. The erotic sections are so bluntly graphic without emotional buildup that the effect is comical rather than sexy, and the romance is poorly developed and juvenile. "You're hot, I'm hot, we have the same superficial tastes to bond over, I've never been comfortable with relationships before 2 days ago, but we totally sign up for that HEA now, right?" The family moments are nice.
This is the first book in the Wicked Warren's series and it's quite clear to me that Marie has improved alot since this book came out. It was an okay read, but I didn't feel a lot of chemistry between Hailey and Gage, so when Gage started dirty talking right off the bat it kind of made me cringe (and believe me, I'm a fan of dirty talking). I liked the introduction to the rest of the family, and while this one is not my favourite it doesn't deter me from reading the rest of the series.
Very cute and steamy quick read by Marie Harte. I loved the primary characters as well as the secondary ones, and I can't wait to read Closing the Deal now! For a short story, Harte did an excellent job describing the characters and the emotions. I love her style of writing and look forward to her backlist. And Gage...um, yeah, YUM!
