David Kantrowitz aspires to create compelling character-driven stories that reference actual astronomical locations and contain (mostly) plausible science fiction technology. He takes inspiration from Robert A. Heinlein, Neil Stephenson, Roger Zelazny, and Douglas Adams. He is a life-long martial artist and a member of the National Guard, interests that both inspire and inform his writing.
If you like sci-fi, witty dialogue, and compelling characters, you’ll love Reckless Faith. This is the authors first book, and you can tell he is still working out his style — it occasionally is a little slow, and the characters are not as fully developed as in his later books. But it is well worth the read, both on its own and as the beginning of the series.
Reckless Faith starts off very slow and kind of monotonous but it does get better. Things pick up after they encounter the orb and the alien that is when it get exciting, funny and intriguing. I won't give out spoilers but this book will not disappoint. I received a copy of this book at my request but it has no bearing on my review that I am voluntarily leaving of my own volition.
At first I wasn't impressed. The story started out a little slow, and it took a while to get a feel for the characters. Still, the plot held me. And as the story progressed, and I got to know the characters, I found myself more eager to keep reading. I'm going to say this book is worth ploughing through the beginning to come to its ending climax. So I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series.
Great characters who are real people (not super soldiers, don’t have super powers and aren’t ’coming of age’)… Story is a little slow but continues at a steady pace and left me looking forward to the next book…
Had me on the edge of my seat. You will find it that way also. I’m going for a walk in the woods a lot more often now. Never know what you will find. I liked the characters and all the baggage they had. It was fun. We never know what’s important until we have to make choices. You are going to love this book. Don’t miss this good read.
The most realistic story I've read regarding a semi random group finding a way to create a interstellar ship. I will be very interested in seeing where this story goes.
A few friends and strangers discover an alien AI who convinces the group go an adventure in an alien space ship to assist the alien home world to solve a problem. Nice clean PG-13 story. I look forward to the next chapter.
Author just had to add all kinds of details about guns. Maybe some folks need the details but I’m pretty sure most don’t. I bought all the books of this series but am regretting it now.
