Friendship is more important than s*x…right? Brody has been my best friend since grade school. We share everything. Well… almost everything. And we like it that way. That’s our story and we’re sticking to it. But when I lose my job and Brody offers to let me move in with him rent free, things get complicated. Being roommates (and the ensuing forced proximity) just serves to remind me that Brody is hotter than fresh-baked cinnamon rolls and every bit as tempting. One mind-blowing kiss later, we find ourselves tumbling into friends-with-benefits territory. And the benefits? Best I’ve ever had. It was just one night, though. It has to be. I can’t afford to lose my best friend, no matter how many annoying feelings I’ve developed for him lately. Or maybe I’ve always had those feelings. Who even knows anymore? It’s all so confusing and…awkward now. All I know for sure is that we have to fix this. Because I’m terrified that I’ve broken the most important rule of Never fall in love with your best friend.

My patience is seriously lacking these days 😂

DNF at 40%.
The heroine is spoiled, selfish and ungrateful. I couldn‘t stand her and her whining.

Best friends to lovers romance between Kate and Brody. The author does a great job moving the relationship into so much more, weaving a heartfelt story with a sweet romance. The characters are strong, the story moves fluidly and I really enjoyed the epilogue.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.

A sweet and steamy friends-to-lovers romance between Kate and Brody, who have been friends since childhood. This was one of those books that sucks you in right away with characters you feel connected to and who you really want to see get their HEA. A quick, fairly light read, light on angst, and definitely recommended for fans of the friends to lovers trope!

The book follows the story of Kate and her best friend Brody (who is in love with his best friend aka Kate). Suffice to say, this book is a perfect example of how NOT to write a book. It contains major loopholes and time frame shifts that no reader could keep up with(there is literally no continuity). There are some repetitions, eg. as whenever Kate thinks of Brody as her protector there is only one situation(the one with Tommy Nolan) repeated twice, I mean the author could have done with a few other added examples.

There are just too much of description of everything around the H&H. So if you like the protagonists as one who is down to EVERY SINGLE detail you can pick this book. The author could have done with changing the words(which are way too formal) to some informal substitutes so that the reader could at least identify themselves with the protagonists.

On this note I would also like to point out that there are too many descriptions which do nothing to the story but drag it (in literal sense), so that the reader is forced to skim read it whenever any sort of description comes along.

Moreover if you have shelved this book for the sex scenes, please de-shelf it because this book isn't going to give you any sense of feelings like you might have expected. They are downright cringe worthy and seems awkward. I mean if you are going to write sex scenes at least make them good; No one is expecting a Fifty Shades of Grey but at least the sex scenes shouldn't make anyone cringe.

Anyhow the starting of the book is almost okay which means I had tolerated it but as the end seemed near I couldn't wait for the nightmare to be over!!!!!
The only consolation I had on why I wanted to read the book was the cover and the blurb.

Kate is fired and dumped on the same day. She heads to her best friend's house. Remember the rules. Brody offers her a place to stay until she can get back on her feet. Remember the rules. They have been best friends since they were kids, always there for each other. They almost got involved a long, long time ago; that's when they made the rules. But what happens if they forget the rules for just one night? This book is my first read from this author, and what an introduction this is!! Kate's life is a mess, but I still like her - her flaws make her just that much more real. I love Brody - he's kind and patient, focused and loving. Luca is a real piece of work for the way he broke up with Kate, and the stunt that he pulls later in the book makes him totally unforgivable. I really enjoyed this book, and am looking forward to the next one.

I had mixed feelings about this one. It's a best friends to lovers romance. I enjoyed the read to a point. Katie is the main female MC and her character about ruined the whole thing for me. She was okay at first, but she was self absorbed to the point it almost ruined what she had/was building with Brody. It was the perfect example of how bad assumptions and jumping to conclusions can screw things up. Brody wasn't completely home free in the assumption part, but it all stemmed from Katie's actions first. Instead of having a fight or talking she went zero to sixty. She left and blocked him on all media's when he had no idea what was happening. But for the happy ending he forgave her quite easily which wasn't realistic to me.
All in all it was a okay read, but i wouldn't read it again.

Kate and Brody have been best friends for what feels like forever. When Kate gets out of a bad relationship, she runs to Brody, like always. Brody, being the perfect best friend, offers her a place to stay while she gets back on her feet... but will they be able to do this platonically, or will their real feelings show through? I was rooting for this couple and loved reading about all of the tension that comes along with a deep love for another being . . . !

It has been a hot minute since I've read a book this good! Equal amounts steamy and dramatic. Brody and Katie have taken up a little place in my heart now! Their characters are wonderfully written and I love that neither are "perfect". The ending was such a beautiful way to wrap up their love story. I really hope that Lyla and Adam get their chance at love in the future! If you are as much of a sucker for friends to lovers romance novels, I highly suggest giving this a read!

Kate and Brody have been best friends for years and have always had each others back. When she gets out of a bad relationship he lets her move in with him until she can get another place. While they have been able to keeps things friendly but while they live together it is getting impossible to keep their feelings in check. Loved this friends to lovers story while it was predictable it was also entertaining.

Delightful Romantic Romp - 4.5 Stars

This was a delightful romantic romp. The characters were charming, as was the story. Reading this just brought home how hard it is when you are dating to really put yourself out there and be vulnerable to the situation. This is exactly what the two main male and main female characters were faced with. Dating is for brave people.

Brody is Kate's best friend. He is where she turns to find a safe place when she gets out of a bad relationship. And Brody is there for her as he has always been. And then something shifts when she stays with him while trying to get herself together. They realize that there are feelings there a bit deeper than just friends. But that is tricky. As the crossover from friends to lovers often is. This story was a delight to read as they found their way.

Kate & Brody have been best friends since the 4th grade. All the things they have been thru have made them stronger together. His parents dying, the "rules" they made, Luca breaking up with her, Adam, Lyla, her mother & Richard, the lake cabin, looking for a job, moving to Florida. Can the two of them ever express how they feel about each other or will they both wait too long? Loved these two. Very realistic and heartfelt emotions thru the whole story

Katie and Brody have been best friends since they were kids. He has overcome a lot in his past. Katie has always fallen back on Brody as she does now. Their journey makes a few twists and turns that keep you glued to the pages. I love Brody. He is so perfect for Katie and always has been. Katie is sweet and lost and just drifting along and needs her confidence boosted. The story is different and sweet and well written and character driven. It is easy and fun to read.

The Misunderstandings Were A Bit Much

So this story is just one misunderstanding after another with no one bothering to ask, talk or explain anything. They don't even really seem like adults because they see something, make assumptions and fly off the handle. The couple is cute, but all the I'm going to freak without thinking over and over again in the book just got to be a bit much.

What a great story, really loved it!
This was a sweet love story between Brody and Katie. They are so good together and wouldn’t have any struggles if they only talked to each other... I really hope there will be a story about Lyla and Adam as well!
Count me in for both stories.

3.5 stars. Brody and Kate’s story was decent but nothing too unique. I enjoyed watching them get closer together. The misunderstandings that were so convoluted to keep them apart were quite annoying and ruined the second half of the book. When this couple had their happy moments, they were golden with great chemistry.

Shallow and immature.

I couldn't help thinking it'd be so SO much better if Kate just got hit with a bus before the midway point. Save us all a lot of time.

Puddles are deeper. This has the depth of water dripped on the floor by your dog. And is about as pleasant as unintentionally walking through it in socks.

This story was so sweet. The best friends becoming lovers is something that has been done. But the beautiful emotions and the roller coaster of things that happened definitely kept this from being boring. I loved it.

Brody is the bomb.

Kind, patient, hot. And always there for his BF Kate “Katie” Evans.

Kate just got fired and promptly dumped and kicked out. So Brody offers her a crash pad. He’s had the feels for her but she’s been in a relationship for seven years.

A very good best friends to more.

How two people who know each other so well, can so epically and repeatedly misunderstand situations is astounding...ha ha, but they make up for it in the end. It’s a great read.

Meh... This book has so many misunderstandings that could have easily been resolved if only the characters would talk to each other instead of jumping to conclusions.. With the way they were acting, you would think they were 15 years old and not adults.

This type of storyline is my favorite of best friends who become more. The characters are wonderfully written with love and humor and of course weakness for their best friend. All the supporting characters give interesting insight to how they both are denying their true feelings. I liked that Kate had her pity party, then took charge of her life and didn’t settle for the easiest way.
