I finally met Arisu Sakayanagi. She is quite an interesting girl and since the anime barely showed her, I'm looking forward to her future appearances in the light novel.
The sport festival was nice to read about too, but I remembered it to be differently in the anime version, but maybe it's not and I just remember it wrong.
I thought Horikita's character development kinda ended last time, but it continued in this volume and I guess now she finally sees her flaw, especially as another classmate seems to have the same flaw, which made them connect with eachother a bit deeper. Also, I like how the character development didn't stop and wasn't exclusively only in one volume but in multiple, showing how complex a realistic character development actually is.
Kouenji is the worst character so far in class D and I wish with full honesty and without any regrets that he gets expelled from this school, as he is unbearable to read about and honestly I don't see any function for him. He does literally nothing. Every time a new special test is occurring all he does is excluding himself from it by either acting like he is sick or hurt (island + sport festival) or just stopping it on purpose sooner than needed (zodiac test). I feel very irritated by him and I wouldn't even say it's something good as he literally didn't contribute to anything. He is just existing to be annoying. Or perhaps (hopefully) he will get useful later and I only forgot. After all, I watched the first season back in 2017 and that's so long ago that I can barely remember anything.
Sakayanagi seems to have a mysterious aura that isn't easy to describe, especially as the light novel seems to have two different views of her as well.
It's rather unfortunate, but I seem to always feel some kind of interest in characters that one barely knows anything. Her also having a 'strange bond' to Ayanokouji also contributes to it.
I really do hope that the light novel shows more of her than the anime did, I really want to see more of her.
The more the story progresses the crazier it gets. Especially with the rivalry. There was one particular scene, I won't show it here due to spoilers but I will show the note I attached it with:
So basically something bad happened and even the teacher who usually don't say anything as they don't need to and also isn't necessary, intervenes 'cause a certain character decided to do some bad stuff to another student. Though the future plan of another character seems to be even crazier. Well, after all it's a school where each class is ranked so makes sense that they all hate eachother, but it still surprising to see how far some of these characters go (to achieve their goal).
Even though Kushida seems to appear cunning and manipulate, I'm certain (also since I watched the anime) that there is no brain behind that mask of hers. She says stuff and tries to appear dangerous (or something) but for me she appears to be rather stupid as she acts like she can do anything she wants with a few threats here and there, but actually doing the thing takes more than she might think. She is also an annoying character but unless Kouenji she actually has some purpose and keeps the story going.

It's finally a sport festivall!! Very complicated situation on how the students have to compete for a points that could benefit their written exam marks.
The festivals will need the classes of all school years to be divided into 2 teams:
1. Red Team consist of Class A and Class D.
2. White team will consists of Class B and Class C.
The sports festival event divided into 2 categories:
1. Universal participation which means all of the students must participate
2. Recommended only participation is only a certain students to be selected by their respective classes.
Each of these competition have different points, hence this volumes is quite intense to read. but really enjoyable.
I am so amazed at the ending, like always the plot twist always caught me off guard. I don't know how this 'mastermind' could pull of this kind of trick. He is indeed a monster!!

Finally the big sports festival! It's so much better than the anime. A solid volume. Full of magnificent scenes.
The sports festival was much better, and the variety was great. The conflict between the classes was on point. Each sport and description of who's doing what was a good way to showcase. Ayanokoji is finally taking the limelight.
The plot progression is going off nicely. The mastermind behind class D is slowly making progress. The tension between Ryueen and Ayanokoji, aka the mastermind, is getting spicer. The novel makes the build up much much better than the anime as it has more details and depth.

In this volume, the second semester begins, and the opening act is the battle of the sports festival. So you know what that means: It’s time for the physically gifted students to shine! Sudou is appointed the class leader for this go round, seeing as he's the most physically gifted of the class. That, goes about as well as you'd expect from someone with Sudou's temperament. Still, it was a wild ride.
I was wondering what the next challenge would be for Ayanokouji and Class D; who would’ve thought it would be something as mundane as a sports festival. I can honestly say, I was surprised. Granted, this sports festival has a different spin to it, given what school this is, but I didn’t see an event like this one coming.
With the sports festival, the school puts the classes sharing each other, with all years included. First, second and third year students all join forces to compete against one another. To make matters more interesting Classes A and D team up to go against Classes B and C. Even though A and D are teaming up though doesn’t mean the school doesn’t want them to compete with each other, because while A and D are on a team against B and C, the first years are also looking to beat the other first year to get Class points, in addition to being able to earn individual (private) points.
We get to learn a little more about Ayanokouji’s past, and we meet someone who knew him before his time at the school. While reading this one, I couldn’t see how Class D would come out on top due to all their setbacks. This was a tense one, and I was taken aback by the twists and turns. We see violence, betrayal and treachery.
To be honest, every new volume I read humbled me because I was always told I was smart. When I see the tests these kids go through, I’m reminded I’m a fool compared to Ayanokouji. I would probably flunk out of this school if I didn’t have someone like him in my class to use me as a tool... Anyway, Volume 6 is shaping up to be an interesting installment given how this one ended. I’m excited to pick up the next one.

What can I say? This must be my favorite volume so far. The way it progresses the plot, lets us explore Ayanokouji’s skills, shows Ryuuen’s wild genius, and even enables character developments like Horikita’s—I loved all of it!
Firstly, Ayanakouji’s genius really shines through here. The way he was able to manipulate his grip strength to whichever value he liked is scary as hell. Plus, the way he predicted Ryuuen’s strategy and the traitor amidst Class C. Scary as hell. But at the same time, he’s still a big dork who just wants friends and blushes around girls. Point in case: when he drew “ten friends” and “someone you love” during the scavenger hunt, ya boi was panicking. He isn’t perfect, just a genius. And of course, who can forget the bomb that Sakayanagi dropped in the last chapter? The White Room, huh? Interesting, interesting.
Second, all I can say about Ryuuen is he is batshit crazy but so far, his schemes are getting the results he wants. All that scheming and manipulation really got on my skin, much like it did Horikita, which is a good thing because it means Ryuuen’s character is an effective “antagonist”. Props to the Syougo Kinugasa for that.
Lastly, Hirokita’s character development, yes !! In the beginning, I was so annoyed at how stuck up she still was even after how many novels. I see now that it was for the better. She finally realized her limitations and decided to rely on others, too. It was refreshing to see her brought down from her high horse, albeit it was hard to witness, too, seeing it was at the hands of Ryuuen. Ayanokouji scolding her was also a highlight, TBH. Her showing vulnerability to Sudou was also unexpected but refreshing. It’s admirable of her to finally open up, to Sudou no less.
Loved all of it so far! I am very intrigued with the White Room, too. On to the next!

not to touch her. Everyone nearby was focused on practicing, and no one
paid attention to us. Even Sudou, who’d probably get angry if he saw this,
was too busy with other people.
“Well then, let’s go!”
At the beginning, I mirrored Horikita. However, as we picked up
speed, I started going at my own pace.
“H-hey!”
Despite Horikita’s panic, I mercilessly went faster. She did
everything she could to keep up with me, but her stamina and strength
couldn’t match mine.
“You said that keeping up with your partner isn’t difficult, right?” I
asked.
“That’s… I know!”
She was obstinate. I decided to shift gears. In the three-legged race,
speed alone wasn’t enough. The important thing was to find a tempo that
suited both partners, then find your best stride.
“Tch!
“Please, go ahead. I’m honored to have you ask me a question. If
you’d like to know, I’m even happy to tell you how I know about you.”
“No, I’m not interested in that. There’s just one thing I want to
know.”
My eyes met Sakayanagi’s.
“Can you bury me?”
“Hee hee!” Sakayanagi chuckled softly to herself, and smiled once
more. “Sorry for laughing. I don’t intend to insult you. I know quite well
how incredible you are. I’ve been looking forward to this. I’ll be able to
realize my dearest wish by destroying the greatest masterpiece that your
father ever made.”
I wanted that, too. My destruction—my defeat—would mean that the
old man would lose.
I wanted the sad contradiction that I carried within me to be
destroyed. I wished for that from the bottom of my heart

Wow. I wasn't expecting to finish reading this in such a short period of time. But I simply couldn't stop reading, it just kept getting better and better.
It's become a bit easier to tell when the POV switches from Ayanokouji to someone else but it's always been primarily in Ayanokouji's POV except we got some chapters dedicated to Horikita's side to the story which I really liked.
As for the sports festival, it was very fast-paced but had a nice balance to it. The scavenger hunt event had to be funniest thing ever. Poor Ayanokouji...
I really love Horikita's character development. She's finally starting to change for the better and actually acknowledge the people around her. And her new ally Sudou is a perfect fit for her since she admitted that she and Sudou aren't that different from one another. And the history between Horikita and Kushida is a mystery I want revealed soon...I always suspected the two of them knew each other prior to attending this school, and I was right. It just didn't make sense that Kushida would hate Horikita so much.
I'm not sure why, but I really like Kanzaki from class B. He's always intrigued me and I feel like there's more to him than meets the eye. Especially since he interacted more with Ayanokouji during one of the events and told Ayanokouji straight up that he thought Ayanokouji was hiding his true potential. He's very perceptive, similary to Ryuuen and Ichinose, but in a different sort of way. I'm just hoping he adds more to the story later on.
As for Sakayangi, she really intrigues me as a character. Even though she's disabled, she's smart and deceptive. She's like Ayanokouji in that she has hidden talents, but unlike Ayanokouji, she actually has a band of supporters on her side. She's becoming one of my top 3 favorite female characters. The first being Kei, Sakayangi being 2nd, and Ichinose being the third. As for the boys, I personally like Ayanokouji the best, with Kanzaki in 2nd and Hirata in 3rd. Hirata is also starting to grow on me a little, especially when he surprised me by letting his anger and frustration show towards Ryuuen when he told Ryuuen he would "show him something later".

Ah the Sports Festival and the change of Kiyotaka to his current form in the story. It was here where I bean to realised a fundamental mistake in the thinking of our Main Character and his views towards others, he is loyal to a fault and holds alliances and friendships on their start date rather than their relevance. Either that or he sees something from AN IDIOT that no one else does and he is playing such a freaking long game that it is insanity inducing.
It's here where a rivalry is set up between Classes D and C, as there's been development of a rivalry between Hokirita and Ryuen in previous volumes but it comes to ahead here and it marks a fundamental failure of the leadership of one of the Class and one of the reasons I consider them an idiot. It's good don't get me wrong but it's infuriating to see a person keep making the exact same mistakes over and over without end and never learning from them while better people hold them up.

okay, I think one of my favorite volumes. I think it's really cool to see the evolution of horikita, sudou and karuizawa. I had doubts about kuchida since the beginning but I admit I didn't think she would want to go that far (i don’t really like her tbh😐), plus we don't know why she's so mad at horikita except that she was in the same school.
I wonder if there will be an evolution for koenjii? 🤨Hirata, I still don't understand why he's in class D?
Ayanokoji is still amazing, I'm surprised that he's using his abilities against the president, I can't wait to see more as it's going to get tougher.
Sakanagani looks very interesting and I can't wait to know more about their common past with his father and ayanokoji's childhood.
So cool this volume.😸

Ayanokoji is still amazing, I'm surprised that he's using his abilities against the president, I can't wait to see more as it's going to get tougher.
Sakanagani looks very interesting and I can't wait to know more about their common past with his father and ayanokoji's childhood.

Once again a pretty solid entry into the series. It's Sports Fest time and Class D... well, let's just say they're the underdogs. With only a couple of truly capable people it looks like it will prove difficult. As usual there are plots within plots within plots. While I have to admit getting to that final denouement may not have been quite as good as some previous entries, it was still solid. AND we got to see some growth and change in some of the characters -- I don't want to tell you who and color your perceptions! As always in Classroom of the Elite things are not always what they seem!
Verdict: Worth picking up -- quick and easy read like all the rest.

I was curious as to how an arc focusing on a sports festival can be intellectually exciting, but well, what can I say, Syougo Kinugasa has not disappointed me just yet!
In this volume, we see a lot of growth on a number of key characters. We also see an interesting development involving our main protagonist, Kiyotaka Ayanokouji, as well.
Kinugasa informs us that the story is still in its early stages, but everything is slowly building up and more and more secrets are being revealed. This was indeed a pleasant read like always.

Still a pleasant enough series. Want to know more about our hero who hides his abilities more, of course, but the proof is always in the pudding, and the classroom is thickening well.
Or, in this case, the sports festival and all the underhanded shenanigans are becoming a nice pudding.

This one has probably the dumbest twist of any book in the series. It also reinforces the supposed genius of Ryuuen, an evil mastermind whose grand plans include having his classmates bully people and then running to the teacher to tell them that actually no, it was his classmates who were getting bullied, and then... mostly just that kind of thing.
Whatever. At least sports festivals only happen once a year.

Another very enjoyable read. This volume was very action-packed, and pretty serious, in contrast to 4.5. Kind of sad that they didn't narrate Ayanokoji's part in the relay race with more detail, but it is what it is. We get to see more of Ayanokoji's genius, and the ending was very promising. Also, this volume seemed to be a little less horny. Way to go guys, keep it up.

Yes it's the sports exam!
My girl Suznne suffered man...I really disliked her brother here. If I saw my sister struggling I would not be just watching in the sidelines ima help! Ridiculous man. But my boy Ryuen was pretty cool here though I hated every method he did to get there. I loved all the sports game nonetheless and really enjoyed this one!

May 5, 2020THE REVEAL AT THE END!!!! but on a different note, Horikita was especially annoying this novel and needs to get over her brother-complex when her brother literally does not care about her at all. I’ve actually started preferring Karuizawa over Horikita which is a surprising turn of events

I've longed for horikita/sudou moments ever since volume 2 but I never imagined it would actually come true
Horikita's emotional conversations at the end were enough for me to raise the rating to 4.5 stars

I like it. Every test in this school is very exciting, and this time is about sport festival. I like in this story it focuses on horikita and her growth, but at the same time, we know our hero ayanokouji is always watching and helping from behind the scene.

Great book I really loved it, I can relate to the main character a lot. I read all the volumes just the other night and I can say I definitely love reading now more than ever. This has gotta be one of the best Light Novel Series I've ever come across I definitely recommend it.

I am so happy Ayanokouji showed us some of his abilities but sadly, this time the plot twist at the end was pretty obvious for me and didn't shock me at all. Of course, it was really nicely made and I held my breath and enjoyed it. Hoping to see more about Sakayanagi in the next volume!

El festival deportivo en la Clase de Elite, como se esperaba fue algo sumamente complejo, en este volumen empieza a entrar en acción Sakayanagi, Horikita tiene un quiebre que la hace madurar y Ayanokoji rebela un poco de sus habilidades en la carrera de relebos.

I really enjoyed Sudou’s character development in this one, as well as Horikita’s. They both had to pull their head out of their asses and really bonded over their unexpected similarities. I enjoyed the description of all the sporting events as well, and as always Class C’s insidious methods.
