Having read the first story with Scotty and Whit and thoroughly enjoying it, I have been eagerly awaiting this one. I have to say, I wasn't disappointed. The author has done a fantastic job of crafting a very clever story line as he takes us on a trip spanning WW1 and WW2 to the early 70s.
When you read some stories, you really want to know what happens to the characters further down the track. Well Lament for the Devil really fulfils that by delivering a great what happened next to, Once Upon a Time in the 60s.
I wasn't prepared for the web of international intrigue when I started reading, and I initially wondered where it was leading me, but, wow, did I get sucked into the characters and their individual stories. The new characters the author introduces us to are ones that you will either love or hate, or feel extremely sorry for, and sometimes, their actions will have you sitting on the edge of your chair.
An easy story to read, and one I enjoyed very much. Oh, and I'd love to call into Kimmy's for a meal and a drink!
Quite the page-turner! I devoured it in 1 shelter-in-place weekend, which left me wistfully dreaming of a vacation on the Côte d’Azur... hopefully with as little less excitement than Whit & Scotty Ran into.
