This says #1 but it must be a spinoff and I would highly suggest anyone check out any possible previous books before tackling this one.
My face as I got about 7% in,
There were a lot of characters that I'm not sure I fully made heads or tails of and the ones I could with their relationships...umm, No. It seems like the bride and bestman are going to end up together after the groom dies. I'm going to spout the company line of this writer's voice just doesn't seem to be for me.

I normally love a SEAL book but this one just did not hit the mark for me.
The plot line jumped about, the storyline was full of holes and just unbelievable in places.
From the outset i didn’t like Shannon. The introduction of her book is at her wedding to Frankie. She gives the impression of a total bridezilla that is jealous of and has not accepted the nature of the Seal team dynamic and is set to try and destroy it. When her husband is killed she is pregnant and seems to just get on with life not showing any great upset or grief which she states is for the sake of her baby. She hates Frankie’s best friend TJ at the beginning and for all of 2 minutes after Frankie is dead before she is shacking up with him and declaring her love for him.
The first chapter is TJ outlining how he is a player, not looking to settle down but thinking that Shannon is hot. He promises his best friend Frankie when he is dying, that he will take care of his wife and daughter. After a couple of days/weeks TJ goes to see Shannon to build the unborn baby a playhouse in the garden the next minute he is with Shannon and wanting to tell the world they are getting married! This is all within a few months of Frankie dying and no one seems to bat an eyelid!
In the middle of all this there is a threat to the SEALS on home soil and TJ receives a call from his previously unknown father who is dying in prison.
Shannon goes into labour early and there is complications requiring a C-section. The next day there is an attack on a member of another team which leads trouble to the hospital. TJ decides that he is going to leave and visit his dying father leaving Shannon and the baby alone. Whilst he is away someone tries to kill Shannon but she manages to fight him off and cause him serious harm. TJ returns that night and Shannon and the baby are at home (what kind of hospital was she in that would allow her to leave after that amount of physical effort following a c-section?) Shannon jumps on TJ and they spend the next however many days having sex (again totally unrealistic days after having a section. I couldn’t even go up and down stairs or go to the toilet without feeling like I was losing my insides - sex no thank you!)
After moving to Frankie's parents house which was meant to be safer there is another attack which is dealt with in 2 shots of a gun! TJ proposes and him and Shannon get married.
The cameraderie that I have found in other SEAL books was not apparent in this one. The research in relation to missions and situations was lacking and disjointed in the plot line. The impact of TJs long lost father was a blip that had no impact and the rest of the events were similarly unrealistic.
A disappointing read for me.

Let me first say that I listened to this book. That did not make it any better. The storyline moved very quickly and did not allow enough character development to make it believable. I can appreciate the Author’s attempt to spin a story of true love conquering all and even finding love after tragedy, however, this was written without any tones of reality. For instance...not having an emotional reaction after being told that the love of your life (and you’re pregnant) was KIA only to fall in love (within a month) with his best friend whom you hate. Fast forward to an emergency c-section, an 8lb preemie, and the heroine wrestles someone trying to attack her in the hospital. They go home and she wants to not only make love, but she gets on top. A woman that is not only recovering from surgery, but more importantly, giving birth does not want a penis anywhere near her let alone inside of her. I finished only because it intrigued me enough to want to know what happened and how the Author would write the ending. Again, I know how an Author wants to create the ultimate love story complete with enough fantasy to make you swoon, however, this story just did not do this for me. The majority of my time listening was spent in disbelief. Based on a recommendation from a fellow reader, I may give book 2 a try because she said it was better, but I’m not so sure. I was hoping for more and this did not deliver.

This is the 8th book and I'm just waiting for this series to be over.
SEAL's Promise is about T.J. and Shannon. This was definitely a second chance at love and they were a cute couple BUT that doesn't mean they were my favorite. I feel like the drama and the romance was just okay. I didn't necessarily feel the connection between anyone either.
At first, I thought I was going to love this book based off the star rating and the synopsis. Yeah, turns out.. I didn't love it that much. I loved T.J.'s character so freaking much but Shannon was just such a let down. No matter how hard I tried (with wine) I just couldn't like her.
You'd think someone carrying a baby would be highly likable.. but yeah no. Not in this case buddy. She just seemed so manipulative and frustrating to read about. Her POV made me so mad that I wanted to just skip through her parts and read T.J.'s. It would've made the book go by much faster but I didn't do it.
Enter wine.
It didn't magically make this book better. I still hated Shannon.

SEAL romance is my favorite kind of romance. I just love when these big, bad boys fall hard. It is a wonder to see them come to terms with that side of their personalities. In this romance, we get a lot in the way of people coming to terms with things they never expected. As this is #8 in a series, you should know that you don't need to read the others if you get this one. These SEALS are friends, but previous plots don't play a part in this story. This book is primarily a romance but it has a suspense plot that kicks in about 80% through.
Shannon and T.J. have a hate you on first sight relationship. Although, T.J. really didn't hate Shannon, he just enjoyed annoying the hell out of her. Shannon married T.J.'s best friend, Frankie. Frankie is killed in action and leaves Shannon a 6 month pregnant widow. Frankie also made T.J. promise to take care of her and the baby. It seems that Frankie knew that these two had been striking sparks and he wanted them together, if he couldn't live.
T.J. is a product of the foster system, a loner and loyal to his SEAL family, the only family he has ever known. He also man enough to admit that he wanted what Frankie had found with Shannon. He just didn't want it with Frankie dead. T.J. has a lot of unresolved issues regarding family and has to work through them to be the man that Shannon deserves.

This is a 2.5 star at best.
This book had so much promise i love military romance books, but somewhere along the line this one kind of fell flat for me. There were parts I liked but then parts drove me mad!
True love never dies, or so they say. Unless your husband is a Navy Seal who dies in the line of duty then your over him within the month. Ready to move on and deeply in love with the man you hated who happens to be you dead husbands bets friend saying yes to his marriage proposal, happily calling him Dad to your late husband's soon to be born child. To top it off two days after the baby was born after a C- section i might add this woman was sat ontop of her new SEAL riding him like a bloody cow girl, i mean WTH!
There were so many things going on in this book, the long lost dad in prison, crazy radical group targeting SEALS on home turf, long lost sisters, and so much more this list goes on and on. It all just seemed like over kill to me, if the book had had the death of the best friend and the frenamies to lovers plot over a period of time not from one page to the next, with a little action of the threats to SEALS this book could have been great. But for me not so much

This book didn't work for me. The characters were just unbeleivable and went from hating each other to insta love.
SPOILER ALERT
TJ Talbot watched his best friend Frankie marry the love of his life. During a mission Frankie is killed and asks TJ to look after his now pregnant wife (who TJ has a hate relationship with)
What didnt work for me was the way this book panned out. I found it difficult to get my head round the fact that:
They couldn't look at each other without sniping
She married the love of her life who died in combat......and bang at super super speed............decided it was time to live again, so at 7 months pregnant she fell instantly in love with TJ and started having sex with him (not that I am against that) BUT this was just too fast too soon.
So, yes, not every book works for every reader and this didn't work for me. Found the story too plausible and the characters just unbelievable. Fast charged to begin with, then dragged in the middle and I couldn't go on to finish it - so stopped a 25%

Having not read the previous books in the series I was not certain what to expect.
However, I had a very hard time with the female protagonist Shannon.
I really enjoyed the sections from T.J.'s POV but every time it switched back to Shannon I had to put it down and walk away. To me, she came across as cruel, manipulative, spoiled, and selfish. Instead of what I'm sure she was supposed to be, strong and devoted to her husband and child.
Military books are very hit or miss for me because of my own history, and this one was unfortunately a miss.
However, it was well written and interesting. If I could have just liked Shannon I'm sure I would have enjoyed the book.

True love never dies they say. Unless your husband is a Navy Seal. Then your over him within the month. Deeply in love with the man you hated and happily calling him Dad to your late husband's child. Why do some authors think you need to rush the romance. Can't they start a chapter with eg One years later and be a little bit more realistic. Have deleted this author from my follow list. Over wasting time reading absolute CRAP.

This book was horrible! Neither lead is even remotely likable. The first time you meet any of these ppl is at a wedding, the soon to be dead husband was a drunk idiot, the soon to be widow is s shrew and the 'Hero' is a horndog. Husband dies and a month later you're sleeping with his best friend, that you supposedly hate?!? Trying not to spoil but wow, what a waste of my time.

This book took me a while to get into, and even then it wasn't like the others for me. This book left a bad taste in my moth from the beginning. I guess I'm not a big fan of haters to lovers kind of stories.
I wasn't a big fan of Shannon from page one. She made me want to go through the pages of the book and slap the taste right out of her mouth. TJ wasn't much better but, he's a dude, they're supposed to be arseholes.
All in all the story was okay, and it kills me to say that but it's just how it rolls. Their relationship was just unbalanced. Shannon hates TJ but as soon as her new hubby is out of the picture she suddenly decides it's okay to move along and be with TJ. Let him be he father to her Ana Frankie's baby. Um, no.
I love Sharon Hamilton and her SEAL team but this book just didn't hit he mark for me.

Powerful and moving love story
Action packed with lots of emotionally stuff happening in this wonderful story. Death, destruction, Love and new life, Family new and old are just some of the things in this book. As well as the family not by blood but by brotherhood of a strong bond between team members. There is a camaraderie that come from being in the military and is even stronger for the ones who belong to a team of seal brothers. Thing start to get interesting when Frankie is killed in a deployment and leave a widow who is pregnant, and on his death bed make T.J. promise to look out for his wife and soon to be born baby girl. But said wife (Shannon) and T.J. are explosive when but in the same room. When T.J. man’s up and tries to keep his promise, well things get interesting and explosive in more ways than one. Well written and extremely entertaining to read. This story may be part of a series, yet it is a self-contained story you can enjoy without ever reading the others. But by reading the others do show the build of characters within.

The story wasn’t all bad but it definitely started off on the wrong foot for me.
It starts off at a wedding between Shannon and Frankie with TJ as the best man. But the H isn’t Frankie, it’s TJ. What bothered me is that the story started off basically broadcasting that TJ and Shannon were going to be a thing. TJ had inappropriate thoughts about Shannon while she was saying wedding vows to his best friend.
The next scene is Frankie getting killed in action while TJ is by his side. Shannon, 6 months pregnant, immediately jumps into bed with TJ though she has always had an antagonistic relationship with him. This bothered me so much!!
I don’t have a problem with Shannon moving on with TJ, it’s how it all went down. I would have fathered seeing them grown closer emotional through their shared grief over Frankie and eventually realize how they felt about each other much later in the book. The pacing was way off.

This is part of the SEAL Brotherhood series but can be read as a stand alone. However, I think the set is much more enjoyable when you know the characters from the previous books since they are an integral part of each story. This book starts off with the wedding of Frank and Shannon. However, this story is not about Frank but about TJ and Shannon. While there are many books out there with the best friend falling for his buddy's widow, this one was a bit different. As Frank was dying, he made TJ promise him that he would look out for Shannon. The only problem, TJ and Shannon don't even like each other. I really enjoyed watching the characters evolve in their friendship and then later into a relationship, while still maintaining their promise to Frank.
This was a great entry into the series featuring hot SEALS, suspense and definitely romance. Can't wait for the next one.

This book was confusing. It moved really quickly and to me seemed to have no direction. It jumped around from conversation to conversation where I would lose track of what was happening. The relationship between TJ and Shannon went from hate to love at mach speed.
I think this book had so much potential for greatness between Seals, KIA, foster care system, reconnecting with parents but how it was written left me wanting so much more. Honestly I skimmed some pages over when they got monotonous but I don’t think I missed much content.
I know I am not going to love every book I read but it honestly hurts my soul to write a bad or eh review. This was the first book I’ve read by this author so hopefully I can give another a shot.

I enjoyed reading this book, but I only gave it three stars because there were some parts that were too unbelievable. You could tell from reading the wedding scene that something would eventually happen between TJ and Shannon. Knowing that authors do extensive research before writing their books, I don't understand how I as a reader is expected to believe that a woman gives birth by c-section, gets into a physical fight in the hospital, cones home and is immediately able to resume relations with her man. I also didn't find it plausible that no one on the team had an issue with the two of them getting together not even a month after Frankie's death.

TJ’s best friend Frankie is marrying Shannon and TJ wishes it was him marrying Shannon. TJ and Frankie are Navy SEALs. Frankie with his dying breath asked TJ to take care of his family and TJ did promise and a promise made to a brother SEAL was always kept. Shannon has Courtney and then her and T J start to get close.
A little disappointing. How did Shannon forget her husband so quickly especially just having his child. But the story was still fairly good The characters were pretty good the plot well I would have liked to have seen it work but somehow just didn’t come together for me.

Emotional and interesting and keeps you on your toes!! TJ is a sexy bad ass Navy SEAL and Frankie his BFF and brother in his SEAL team. TJ has a lot of demons in his past. Shannon is Frankie's bride and wife and now she is pregnant. Being sent on a mission that their team does not all come back from. TJ has a lot of obstacles but this read is awesome. I have not read the others in this series, but it was emotionally jam packed. The writing is good and descriptive. So worth the read!

There were a couple of parts that didn't fly with me:
1) they went from hating each other to love each other, plus the mourning of a fallen husband/friend in two seconds
2) having a baby and C section you don't just go having sex right away, you have at least 1 month your period and is a freaking surgery to your womb
All was too fast, she needed to put more time in between the mourning, falling in love; and definitely more accuracy on the fact of what happens to a body after a delivery.
The other plot parts where ok, but still missed a little closeness to reality.

I purchased SEAL's Promise as part of an anthology.
T.J. Talbot makes a promise to his best friend, Frankie as he dies on a deployment. Frankie is married to Shannon and she is expecting Frankie's little girl. Frankie wants T.J. to take care of his wife and help her raise their daughter. I loved the story for the depth of emotion expressed by all the characters, the danger they faced and the backgrounds that they have overcome to become mature adults ready to face the world together. This is a great story full of deep feeling and I couldn't put it down.

LOL So far I have read the first two and they are really good so I have no doubt that this will also be good, once I get to it.

Unrealistic
I found this book very unrealistic. Shannon, the heroine, is portrayed as controlling and unalienable; her husband as weak, and TJ as shallow. The hero and heroine don't like each other. Then after her husband dies, they have sex and are in love. She has a baby and not only wants sex but has it within days, after fighting off a terrorist who targets her for no known reason. The whole thing is just badly done.

I obtained this free e-book from Amazon and I am voluntarily writing a review. T.J. is a Navy Seal who has made a promise to his best friend and Seal brother Frankie to take care of his wife and unborn child when he is killed in an op gone sideways. Shannon is Frankie's widow and has always blamed T.J. for all that has gone wrong since she met Frankie.

I have no idea why I finished this book - I was rolling my eyes from the start. We meet the couple at a wedding, where she is marrying his best friend -_- Needless to say the groom isn't around for very long. I get that people deal with grief differently, but to go from happy and in love with one guy to the other in the space of 3 months...uh no.

I wish it was so much more!!
Wow was I disappointed. I thought I was going to be for a wild, HOT, emotional ride and it fell completely utterly flat. Was boring, skimmed half of it. I just could not engage with these characters, this book one bit.
