In 1980s, I wrote as Susan Phillips, not to be confused with Susan Elizabeth Phillips or Silhouette Romance author Susan Phillips (later writing as Susan Sawyer). RAPTURE'S LEGACY was my first and only book published under this name.
In 1990s, to avoid further confusion, I switched to my maiden name, Susan Leslie Liepitz, publishing with Harlequin and Berkley Jove Time Passages.
Later, I dropped my maiden name and legally registered the fictitious business name of GILLIAN DOYLE. But when I moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 2014, I learned the state does not allow registering a fictitious business name that can be a real person's name. By then, there was a Gillian Doyle audio romance narrator and a Gillian Doyle nonfiction author.
In December 2016, my husband passed away shortly after diagnosis of pancreatic cancer. He made me promise to publish a book of my heart I've been writing for years -- a women's fiction novel, A PLACE TO BELONG. It is currently being shopped to publishing houses.
So here I am -- back to using my legal name, even though there are numerous writers with various versions of Susan/Sue Phillips. I have kept the same books covers except for changing the name.
Unfortunately, the Intuitive Investigator series has ended after two books. Sadly, Deanne Acuña passed away unexpectedly in November 2018. She is greatly missed by family and friends.
enjoyed it but nothing thaaat special, gave me the vibes of a tamer version of “Things we never got over” book tw: themes of SA (idk how i keep reading so many books about it atm?? it’s getting a bit much)
What a complex and emotional story! The heroine gets the shock of her life as the book begins, and she doesn't know quite how to deal with it. This book covers a lot of themes, like divorce, becoming a single parent, homosexuality, and finding yourself when forced into a new beginning. So many ups and downs, with a little humor and a lot of heart.
I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
I loved Megan's journey. Wow. This was a very emotional read for me & can be relatable. Plus a new author for me. It was so well written. I received a free copy of the book. And am voluntarily leaving my honest opinion.
Beautiful, lyrical writing! An emotional story that's difficult at times, but so real and moving. Megan's struggle to pick up the pieces of her life after divorce will keep you turning the pages. Women's fiction at its finest!
Merged review:
Beautiful writing. An emotional story that's difficult at times, but so real and moving. Megan's journey to rebuild her life after divorce kept me turning the pages well into the night. Women's fiction at its finest.
Such a complex book, many of the characters are holding secrets deep inside them that they are afraid to share. One afternoon, Megan comes home early after a doctor's appointment and her world is turned completely upside down. This is how the story begins and throughout the book there are twists and turns and little hints that keep you guessing.
I have to say it wasn't a bad read. My only real criticism I that I felt it was too long and drawn out in places, almost to the point where it became boring making me skip pages to get back to the nitty gritty of the storyline. Bonus points for being free.
