While police pursue my boss as the main suspect, I team up with a handsome journalist who's a few pies short of a picnic. Soon, we're uncovering secrets and eavesdropping on evidential conversations all over town.

With the help of wolf-friend Silvana and mouse-flatmate Dee, we sniff out a multitude of suspects. But until our rag-tag crew can narrow them down to a single killer, the true culprit is free to strike again.

This wasn’t the worse book I’ve read but it certainly wasn’t the best...It started out pretty good but fell flat in the end. The book is about Liv and her friends Dee and Silvana who are all shape shifters. They go about trying to solve a mystery of who killed her coworker.. For me the characters never really developed. I dnt recall much back story for any of them and I wished the shape shifters aspect had been used more throughout the story... The story wasn’t put together well and the ending seemed rushed and it fell flat. The big reveal as to who done it and why was just pretty blah and dumb... I was like THATS IT? 😒 The story had potential but the author dropped the ball. I can’t say I would recommend this book

The premise of the story is the government mistakenly loses control of a contagion that infects the human population and makes them animal shifters. Like most contagious diseases, not everyone is infected. Then the government turns around and starts making the infected shifters register themselves due to the terror of the uninfected population. Then a murder happens and it's blamed on the shifters. The answers are difficult to find because the small town government seems to be throwing up roadblocks to prevent anyone from finding out the truth. I do recommend this book.

I hope to see a sequel

A government experiment gone bad infected nearby humans with a disease that turned them into animal shifters. The death of a wealthy young woman is thought to be the result of a shifter attack and town officials decide that all shifters must register their identities and a curfew is imposed on the shifters. Who in the shifter community is responsible for the young woman’s death and why?

The world was fascinating and the distinction of belonging vs other is very relevant in today's America.

The mystery however was very superficial and a lot of the investigating happened by chance and not really intentional. I think the possibility with so many different shifters working together were endless and I imagined a much more creative approach.

I loved that the lead was an Owl Shifter. It was different.

Enjoyed the book and the building of the characters and their interactions. A sudden death of a co-worker leads them on a search for not only who did it but the reason behind her death. They find someone trying to blame an innocent man and a movement to limit the movements and freedoms of the town's shape shifter population.

I want to be a shifter

And an owl is just what I'd be. I will be looking forward to more stories from Beechdale. This was a well done first book, and i hope it will continue into a series
