James Hunt's passion for writing began at an early age. While his journal of yesteryear may never be the work of great fiction, he's been working hard every day since then to bring pages to life. James has well over a decade of writing under his belt, but his professional career in literature didn't take off until 2014.
James currently lives in Orlando, FL and when he's not pounding away at the keyboard you can find him at the theater or somewhere outside enjoying the beautiful Florida weather.
Jim and Kerry have to. Chase a crazed man kidnapped three kids an one of this kids is Karrys son. They chase clues the man leaves behind to find the children. All this is from Jim when he was left in a cage from the same man.
A really good read! A bit dark but a good story, make you think of all the sickos in the world , and just hope and prey your grandchildren don't find any
What sets this apart from other thrillers, is the depth of the two main characters and the empathy the reader can feel for them. The intensity of a parents love for a child is explored. As a mother I understood the lengths that a detective might go to in search of her child and the intensity of her feelings that might lead her to a dark and violent place.
The psychological effects of childhood abuse is also explored but is used more for explaining the motivation of one of the main characters. Given that this novel is of the thriller genre, not the literary genre, this is understandable. To explore this complexity would result in a different story.
There are a few typos and a loose end that should have been addressed but these didn’t stop the flow or interfere so I’ve given it five stars within the thriller genre.
If you enjoy thrillers but want more than a good plot, this series is for you.

This is a wonderful addition to this thrilling series! Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start. Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believeable. Great suspense and action with wonderful world building that adds so much to the story. Such a thrilling read that I couldn't put it down. Can't wait to read more of these. Recommend reading.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Lost and Found was a good book but not good enough for me to stop putting it down because there was something missing. I think it was the lack of involvement of the child serial killer until the very end of the story. An interesting bio slipped in throughout would have helped, let's face it, a pedophile serial killer does not just one day at whatever age decide that is his career of choice. He was a ghost and Hunt did not create enough drama in the story until the climax. That is also negatively affected because of my total lack of knowledge of the serial killer's motives, beyond one illogical one I cannot reveal here. The lack of his history & the nature of the climax is less interesting because his modus operandi takes a 360 and thus makes it unbelievable. The three of them locked in cages hanging deep in the forest would have made far more sense, as you will discover.
The story continues centered on Jim’s childhood when he was kidnapped and held captive and now as an adult and a cop seeks to hunt the perpetrator down
In current day three kids are kidnapped including his partner Kelly’s kid and it goes through their attempts in recovering. Don’t want to give anything away but I get tired of stories that have over dramatize almost every scene and cops who have handle things by themselves by not calling backups, etc.
Some holes and far fetched stuff but have to take some of the ugh to find a otherwise good storyline
The title, LOST AND FOUND, gives you a clue as to the depth of this novel. It harks back constantly to the past where Jim was abducted and caged by a predator. His guilt is that he left behind another abused boy whom he could not manage to free. He knows deep down that that boy is now dead.
Now his abductor is abducting other children in Jim's jurisdiction in an attempt to bring Jim to him. Jim is unfinished business. Now that Jim is a cop and has a very competent partner, the abductor plays this group of people for all he's worth. That's what the abductor is - a player. He plays with people's lives. But in the end it's detective work and physical force that bring him down.
Well constructed and suspenseful, this is only the second Hunt book I've read. I intend to read more.

The plot was interesting and the book held my interest to the end, mainly because I was intrigued to see how it would be resolved. It was this part that I found disappointing and lacking in credibility. The race against the ticking clocks just did not work - no way could the main characters, North & Martin, have worked within the given restraints. The situations from which the hostages had to be rescued became increasingly bizarre and unbelievable. The perpetrator was introduced at a fairly late stage and virtually no information was given to his background and reason for undertaking his evil acts.
INTENSE. Intriguing plot and characters on point. Expectations met, ... WOW what a ride!
The plot gave me opportunity to escape from my everyday surroundings and entertained my imagination from beginning to the end. Nerve wracking, spine tingling psychological sociopathic thriller. I wanted to kill the psychotic s.o.b. myself. I was relieved when the main character achieved what he so richly deserved. Thank you James Hunt for a Fabulous read. PottsvillePA_01232021. Note: There are spelling and several grammatical errors, but because of the research and in-depth plot pace plus patience, ...was able to get passed. Wonderful ending.
A surprisingly good book. First I've read about North and Martin, but I'm sure I'll read more.
Jim North and Kerry Martin are Seattle detectives who are working two similar child abduction cases, when Kerry's young son is abducted. But the case is personal and the kidnapper is after Jim North. It is only when three stopwatch timers arrive at the office do the detectives put the 3 cases together and look for resolution.
It is not a "whodunit" as much as a "I know whodunit and I need to catch him" book. It was entertaining and well-written.
Once again I loved the story line but was distracted by the grammatical errors. Often I lost my "trance-like" state because of an error that didn't make sense. It would cause me to pause and figure out what was going on. There also was a dropped thread that caused me to wonder why it wasn't ever finished. But despite all of that, I still felt the book was amazing. I would suggest that the author invite more of his followers who love his books to proof read before publishing so he can be more aware. Fixing those errors would lift this book to a 5.
Brilliant, had me totally engrossed from page 1. The plot was intricate, with twists and turns which throw you off track. There's a lot of "time hopping" from when Jim was abducted years ago to present day but it made sense and didn't confuse you in any way. The way Jim's partner Katherine and her family is weaved into the actual plot is very good and adds to the tension. I loved and couldn't put it down.
This was another great book in this series. I have immensely enjoyed all 3 so far and can’t wait till the next in this series comes out in September. They all grab your attention from the first page and the twist and turns keep on coming. I will find myself reading for hours wanting to find out what will happen next. I hate it when such a good book ends. Read them in order you will not be disappointed. I love psychological thrillers.
Guilt kept Jim searching for his kidnapper and he finally finds him and some forgiveness!
More children abducted and the one responsible is the same one who abducted Jim. Can Jim find him before the missing children die? Can Jim finally forgive him selves for leaving another boy trapped the night he escaped their kidnapper? Can he save the one child that is connected to him the most, the one belonging to his partner on the force?
I wished this book would not end. I was thrilled with all the leads turning out to be one piece of the puzzle that still needed to be solved. I was a detective along with Martin & Kerry in this story. Great pace that keeps the reader engaged until the last page. A 🌟 rating of 4.25.
I will be reading the last book of this series next.
The story pulled me in and kept me emotionally involved. Two things that bothered me: 1) Whatever happened to the brief character, Mellows who got beaten up, and his son? They weren't mentioned again. I was waiting to hear more about them. What happened to his son? 2) I thought that near the end of the book, it was a little over the top, throwing too much into their perils. Having said that, I still thought it was well worth reading.
This was my first book read by James Hunt and I found it very interesting. This story revolves around a police detective who was abducted as a child and forced to watch the sodomization of another young boy. He managed to escape but left the other boy and it has bothered him for years and years. Now the perp is back wanting to inflict pain and suffering on him again. A compelling book and I'll read more by this authorl
I was clenching my teeth! I read it in one day. Some how you get drawn in with the story. You know that you are reading a book of fiction, but it feels real! Made me think about all the police officers you see and wonder what kinds of tragedy they have seen...think about that the next time you see our men & women in blue!!! Definitely a must read.
Lost and Found is an intriguing abduction case. James Hunt has created an interesting series based on Jim North and Kerry Martin. They are well written characters solving sinister abduction and missing person cases.
I enjoy the series and I have looked into other books by James Hunt because I am reading through this series so quickly.
North continues to learn more about his traumatic past. He has endless regrets and this current case has him searching for answers before time runs out and it impacts someone he has finally allowed close into his life. His partner and truly the closest to family other than his adopted parents he has found.
I read this story in one night. Couldn’t put it down. A psychological thriller with the emphasis on psychological. Every character’s emotions were so perfectly described that my stomach and heart were as involved as my brain! It also made me feel for the first time what an adrenaline rush detectives may experience, and if they’re not broken by their jobs, how it pushes them to return to them again. Really enjoyed this read.
This is a riveting story. Dealing with past emotional trauma is never easy, but Detective Jim North has more memories than anyone should have to overcome. His journey to find the perpetrator has been long and brings him into a series of abductions that cause memories to surface. Excellent book
These stories have a steady flow of suspense. They hold you captive and make you continue reading even when you should be doing other things. I already have the next book in this series Q'd up and ready to read. Guess the chores will have to wait awhile. Not sorry a bit.
This is a gritty story that pulls you in and never lets you go. Each step becomes tougher to confront as the villain orchestrates his brand of evil. At the end realising this is fiction when it felt much too real, experiencing the characters pain as you read through the pages is an experience not to be missed.
This story had me from the first page to the last! I could barely put the book down! The suspense at finding the children who were abducted and finally finding the man who did all those abductions of those poor kids kept me on the edge of my chair. The story line was excellent and the characters were believable. Well done!
This is the third book in the series and definitely my favorite. It was nail-biting at times as Jim and Kerrie raced the clock. What an emotional roller coaster! I shed more than a few tears while reading this book. Be sure to read the first two books to get the full impact of this one.
I really like this story and the characters and enjoy following the character arcs between novels. This book however seemed to have a lot of grammatical errors and putting the wrong name in a sentence when the context showed it was clearly someone else. So fantastic story, just needs to be cleaned up a little.
It was a good story, exciting a real roller coaster. But, It had way too much of repeating of the background information on the main characters. This is the 3rd book and all that background writing was tedious to read. I did a lot of scanning. I really like this series, and if people want to know the main characters background, read Book 1.
A fast read that had me cringing at the "what if". A great working team of detectives that solve the case with mere seconds to spare kept the action at fevered pace. Simple read with a complex puzzle.
This book held me in it's grip from start to finish. A haunted past, riddled with terror, and a present filled with horror, was brought together in this awesome thriller by James Hunt. It was cleverly written with so much punch that I could not put it down. The characters were alive. Anyone who enjoys a psychological thriller will enjoy this book.
