She's a tough, no-nonsense doctor moving to the wild west to start anew, he's the sheriff that is injured while protecting her.
When Dr. Beatrice Jones’ father passed away, she was stunned to learn the hospital she’d worked at by his side for years would no longer have her. With nowhere else to go, Beatrice remembers a letter she received from a cousin who had moved out west to become a mail-order bride. Knowing she could do a lot of good as a doctor out west, Beatrice decides to move to Birch Creek. When the stagecoach she's traveling in is held up by a group of ruffians, Beatrice is saved from harm when the sheriff and his deputy arrive just in time.
While in pursuit of the group he's been tracking for days, Sheriff Elias Mills comes upon them robbing a stagecoach. He is shot by one but with the expert medical care of the woman he just saved, he manages to pull through. Unfortunately, the only place near enough for them to stop for help was at a house of ill repute. In order to save the good doctor's reputation, Sheriff Mills offers to marry her. Can these two strong spirits work together to become one, or will the town of Birch Creek lose both their doctor and their sheriff?
Laura grew up in a small town in central Utah and now lives in another small town in northern Utah. She always loved stargazing and imagining life outside her own little world. Though they grew up only thirty miles apart, she didn't meet her husband until they went to college. A graduate of Utah State University with a degree in Elementary and Special Education, Laura has been using that training as she raises her children and writes make believe worlds. You can usually find her on her laptop either typing away, or on social media interacting with friends.
Loved this book! Dr. Beatrice Jones has been fighting her way in a profession dominated by men. When her cousin writes her to come out West, it seems like a good idea. But getting there is proving difficult and dangerous. Sheriff Elias is on the trail of some outlaws. They've robbed the stage and now he's been shot. Can Elias and Beatrice help each other? Will Elias be ok with a woman Doctor? What about the rest of the townsfolk? This is a clean, sweet romance. The author has created a cute town and it's been enjoyable to keep returning as more women move to town. This book is my favourite of the series. I love the lawman aspect and the plot was really well done. I definitely recommend this book!
The Sheriff’s Bride is the perfect blend of old west charm meets big city girl. I love how Beatrice is a strong woman, a dedicated doctor, but still has a tender heart. Who better to match up with her than Elias, the sheriff whose life she saved. The people of Birch Creek are as wonderful as ever and it was great to revisit some of the other residents as the story unfolds. This was a satisfying easy story that was a delight to read. I received an ARC courtesy of the author and this is my honest opinion.
I really enjoyed this historical western romance about Doctor Beatrice Jones, she's traveling west to start a practice as women doctors are look down about in the east, as she is traveling her stage coach is robbed and the sheriff is shot and she must do surgery to save his life at a saloon. When sheriff Elias Mills wakes up and realizes Beatrice has stayed with him overnight at a saloon, he proposes marriage to save her reputation and to help her career along. The story is well developed and the continuity of the characters from previous series book are good. I would highly recommend it.
“The Sheriff's Bride” by Laura D. Bastian I truly enjoyed my time with Beatrice and her story. I do love clean sweet romance stories. This is a stand-a-lone story in The Brides of Birch Creek series. It is a fun easy read and I hope you will agree with me when you read this story, too. This is my opinion and if I wrote more I might spoil the story for you. Happy Reading !! Note: I received an ARC of this story from the author with the hope I would write a review.
This is such a great book. Beatrice is way ahead of her time. Elias is a strong hero who isn’t afraid of a strong woman. This is a great series with well written characters and fun mysteries mingled in. I highly recommend this book and the rest of the series.
I so love strong characters with integrity and commitment. In this book both Elias and Beatrice showcase these qualities. The book was interesting right from the start and didn't lag at all. Loved the town's people as well. What a truly lovely and satisfying read. Enjoyed every minute of it.
This is a great series starring strong women who can survive the harsh Wild West yet still humble enough to rely on a man to help when need be. Great story, one of my favorites in the series. Women still struggle in the world of men doctors.
I enjoyed reading The Sheriff's Bride. It seemed lighter than many books in this genre. Bea is a very determined doctor headed west when it is obvious she is no longer wanted in the east. Elias is the sheriff shot chasing off the bandits robbing Bea's stagecoach. She saves his life in a bar/brothel so he feels they must marry. It is a whirlwind as she sets up as the town's doctor, they learn to live together, and they figure out who is sabotaging her office. I spent a very pleasant afternoon reading straight through to the end.
Not exactly a compromising position, but she being a she and he being a he in the West, people will make assumptions and the circumstances will not be taken into account. So the doctor married the sheriff and life moves on in this awesome story and eventually he locks the door.
