Rate this book
It’s all come down to this.

Cody and Benji have been kidnapped. Conditioned to obey. Trained to pleasure the rich and decadent. And it’s all been for this moment.

The auction, where they will be sold into slavery.

Cody has fought his captors every step of the way. And every time, he’s lost. He’s let them take his pride. His manhood. Even his name. But now Cody is about to take one last step. He’s going to cross the final line.

Cody is going to become complicit in his own sale. He’s going to use all his smarts, all his resourcefulness to convince the buyers to pay top dollar for his young body. To make sure that he goes for more than any other boy in the auction.

Because if he doesn’t, then his brother will be the next one on the auction block.

Cody’s lost every fight so far. But now he’s fighting for something more than himself.

Promises, bids, penetration, boys, protection

The highest bidder always wins, but if it is too high, default can change the game in strange ways. Remote bidders are difficult to predict as they cannot be seen and anticipation is obvious when hardness is visible, but what if you cannot see or feel to be able to judge the outcomes and stimulations that are crowd and money driven. Power can be bought, but at what price? Fraternity brother protector or real brother protector? What will Cody do to save his reputation in light of his slave status?

After the cliffhanger ending of the previous entry, I was curious to see where the story would go from there and how Connor/Cody would adapt to his new situation. It was interesting seeing Veronica again, I loathe her character completely, she’s so genuinely evil and sadistic, I hope she gets what’s coming to her by the end of this story. I liked seeing Connor/Cody determined to show off for the buyers in order to save his little brother. The introduction of the buyers was a scary piece of world building and it was unnerving knowing powerful depraved people like this exist out there in the real world. The Russian arms dealer was a scary character and the reveal that he hunts his slaves down and kills them was a terrifying look at a dark possible ending to Connor’s story. Connor’s nightmare sequence was another scary and possible future and ending to this story. The goodbye between Connor and Jake was so heartbreakingly bittersweet. They have been through so much together, and the reveal that Jake never blamed Connor for any of it was so sad and so sweet. The realization that they would probably never see each other again, and they both lost the last piece of their former lives, was so dark and depressing. I hope that they’ll somehow reunite and escape in future entries, but a big part of me feels like even if Connor somehow escapes from this life, he’ll probably never see Jake ever again.

3,5 ⭐️ that was one of the best instalments yet - and it's no wonder, since we got jake, nick, the long awaited auction, and every entertaining and tense scene that came with it. while a change of scenario is a wise choice, i fear that the series will get less interesting from now on, since cody will must probably never see the two characters he shared most chemistry and interesting scenes with again :(

i wonder if the author will manage to deliver relationships engaging enough to justify dropping all characters we've known so far, if he'll stick to only villainous interactions from now on, or if he'll drop some plot twist to keep or bring back nick and jake.

I'd skimmed ahead at a few summaries and previews, so I still knew most of how the auction would turn out, but I was still on the edge of my seat seeing it all happen.

Here is a quote from "Auction Chant – Understanding Hypnotic Bid Calling" Published by RelicRecord. "For example, if the current bid is $20 (the have) and the auctioneer is asking for $30 (the want), the bid calling might sound something like: “I'm at $20, now $20, I need $30, $30, somebody give me $30, $30…” In addition to the rhythmic qualities of filler words, they serve more important purposes."

Another great entry in this series-as we are now at the auction phase of the story where Cody will be sold to a new owner after his "training." This episode advances a lot of plot and gives Cody's character a real chance to shine. The scene with him and Jake at the end was terrific. This is kind of the climax of the first act, so very excited to see what's going to happen next.

Crazy continues

The auction finally happens and everything is at risk for poor Cody. Will his new owner pay what the boss wants to keep his brother out of their hands? Will it even matter? Crazy cliffhanger as usual.
