Twenty-five-year-old Soleil is hired to be a motherly caretaker for the current Omnicron, the precocious and brooding eleven-year-old Gem. She finds herself drawn to the chosen child, but Gem seems resigned to his fate, as numb and emotionless as ever. Undeterred, Soleil resolves to bring joy back into his life. Can Soleil restore Gem's will to live in time? And even if she can, will it be enough to enable him to survive the task ahead?

Ahhh I LOVED Gem! Goodness, I was tearing up almost crying by the end of it!

I really really liked Gem. He was an interesting character and had a lot of personality. I also really liked his caretaker and her compassion for Gem.

A great short story!

A fantastic example of great Christian suspense that doesn't have to be boring. I was emotionally engaged with Gem's story. I fekt heartbroken for him and intregued with the world he inhabits. Excellently written and I highly recommend it, even if Christian fiction or suspense isn't your thing. You'll not be disappointed.

Gem is a really sweet read, with a fascinating premise and characters that we really grow to care about in the short amount of time we get to know them. Definitely worth the read!
