It rings synonymous with hustle and to bear it means you personify what it is to be a boss. On the streets of Houston it holds major weight and is never to be taken lightly. In their hood it brings status, garners respect, and defines loyalty. To break bread with a Broadus is an honor but to actually be a Broadus is to be part of a brotherhood. A legacy. A bond so unbreakable that it would take several armies of adversaries to penetrate it.
Emmanuel, the quick tempered baby boy, has easily lived up to every expectation there is when it comes to carrying the Broadus name but history has shown that during the reign of every great King, there is always someone looking to knock them off the throne.
Being solid and thorough doesn’t guarantee immunity to post traumatic stress and that’s the exact state he finds himself in months after being gunned down on New Year’s Eve. In the midst of his storm, he encounters another troubled soul who despite her own struggles, brings him a peace he’s never known. With her, he’s at ease and free to be himself but between the stresses of the street life, managing an up and coming singing sensation, and battling his own inner demons, Emmanuel must figure out a way to balance his love for Kambré while still living up to his surname.
Accustomed to getting what he wants, Emmanuel finds himself unable to deal with Kambré’s indifference when it comes to their relationship. Advice from different sources on his situation tends to go in one ear and out the other but when his plus sized beauty becomes fed up with his antics and walks away, will Emmanuel find himself at risk for spiraling even further down a dark road or will her departure be the wake up call he needed all along?
In Love With Manny even though he gets on my nerves
I really couldn’t bring myself to give this book a four star rating…I just couldn’t do it, and maybe that speaks to the seriousness of the toxic relationship that I am in with this book and Emmanuel. I really love this man, he’s so much more than meets the eye.
The writing captured my attention immediately, I needed to know more. I stand by my opinion that Emmanuel is a hood sweetheart. There was accountability and vulnerability between him and Bre. I enjoy seeing characters talk through difficult topics and pains of the past instead of pretending said pain don’t exist. Manny is a sweetheart but he doesn’t play about his business or woman.
Bre is a boss babe and I LOVEEE to see it. She’s a queen and she deserves the world. I enjoyed the love cocoon that her and Emmanuel had, like their own little bubble that was safe for them to just be.
Also, the gang sh*t was on point and interesting and I have my guesses about who’s involved. I’m definitely reading books two and three because the author did what she needed to do.
I won’t lie there were a couple things that upset me because like I said I LOVE this man 🗣🤣 All Ima say is ✨THERAPY ✨ (& the author might shut me up later in this series and I’m more than okay with that)
Last thing, my girl had his head gonneeee for awhile so I don’t even know why Manny was trying to play like he wasn’t a goner.
So yeah, I’m in a toxic relationship with this book and Ima stick beside it. 😌
3.5 ⭐️ That’s best way I know to describe this story because you only get these small bits that actually move the story forward and if you aren’t paying attention you’ll miss them. Although this is a women’s fiction the romantic elements are central but it’s not a romance at in the traditional sense at all. It was still and entertaining read but very frustrating at times and while I appreciate the story taking its time to develop at around 75% I started to struggle. The relationship kept stalling and they aren’t make any tangible progress with the main plot. Since I’m new to the author going back and reading this after reading her romances is a major adjustment. But the way the book ends definitely has me intrigued.
It was hard, but I pushed through and was able to finish the book, I had to skip through chapters, but I finished. Im not satisfied at all, like I just read through a book of repetition and fillers, just for nothing to happen until the end. Then the book ended like right when it seemed like it would be worth reading. If this was supposed to be Emmanuel and Kambre story why did it end like this. What happened to her meeting with doobie for his daughter's party? The ending was horrible. This is my first book by this author but I think im over it already.
I loved this story. It had the perfect amount of romance and drama. I loved the relationship between Manny and Bre. I can't wait to see what happens next. I have a notion on who's behind all the misfortunes happening to the Broadus family.
I'm so glad that Kambre and Manny got themselves together. The chemistry between them was magnetic from the beginning. Both dealing with some heavy mental issues found peace within the arms and bed of each other. Emmanuel the biggest sour patch I loved him and I know this is going to be great especially when he matures a little more but he's my favorite bad boy so far. Definitely can't wait to dive into the other brothers I know I'm in for a treat.
Normally, I'm a bit leery of reading books by 'today's' authors that extend beyond 200 pages, and it's because the books be long and drawn out and it gets boring VERY quick.
But not this book!
This is the first novel I've read by Shantae and it won't be my last. This one had my attention from beginning to end and I never got bored. Emmanuel was funny as hell to me with his quick temper. He was fighting the love bug hard as hell until he eventually gave in and embraced it. I loved the development of he and Kambré's story. She was perfect for him because like he said, she brought a peace to him that he had never had. He was also her peace, as well as her protector and I think that's what she desired in a relationship, even though being in love wasn't something she was seeking.
I thought it would've been revealed about the person/people that came for Emmanuel and his brother Taheed, but nope. I have to continue with the next storyline, which is Taheed's story, to find out...maybe??? I have one idea as to who it could be, but there are two others that I'm not ruling out. Either way, I know it won't end well for any of them, so I'm excited to read book two. I need to pour my glass of wine first and get comfortable.
Bré and Manny were something else. But in all honesty they are a perfect match because of their past trauma. Manny dealt with not being able to sleep due to being shot and thinking his brother Tah died and the only lady that gave him peace with getting the sleep he needed was Bré. While Bré battled with her sisters death and putting the blame on herself. Both of them needed one another and although they definitely had their good and bad moments, it was so refreshing to see their Love bloom. I will say being that Manny is the baby, I was glad his brothers told him to get right with Bré before he looses her. His brother’s words I believe helped him to be make Bré his girlfriend.
Can't help but to love these Broadus brothers. Emmanuel the hot headed, react first and maybe ask questions later, younger brother of the Broadus clan finally gets hit with the love bug after so many years of not wanting a relationship. Who would've thought a phone call was all it took for him to be smitten by Kembre. There is some back and forth between these two but you can't help but to want them to be together. Still so many questions about who could possibly be the snake trying to take down the Broadus brothers, I'm sure Taheed will be ready for war and it may not be pretty. This series just keeps getting better.
I would like to hereby welcome Manny to the book bae club!! Y’all this dagon book was so good! Bre was the cutest with her take no mess ways. And that Manny…talk about a fool in love. From first convo he knew that Bre was something special to him yet and still that still had him acting like a spoiled brat & tripping out big time. Add to that there’s an obvious snake in his camp, and you have one scressed out Broadus brother. Regardless, the one thing we as readers knew for sure was that Manny and Bre were clearly meant to be. And I absolutely ADORED watching them fall in love! On to the next book, I need to find out what happened after….🫢😉
This was a page turner from beginning to end that had me gasping for a large part of it. There was some funny moments as well But don’t get it twisted The Broadus Brothers need to watch their back because there’s an enemy in their camp. The question is who and why.
As for Emanuel and Bre’ those two were🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 when ever they got pass the time Sue’s they both were dealing with. It was obviously that They were each other’s Ride or die no matter what. This book ends in a cliff hanger ,so I’m on to book two because I know it’s going to pick up just where this one ended. Good read
This right here!! The Broadus brothers are so completely different yet stand strong for each other. Emmanuel recognizes he must leave the game, yet can’t as he the lineage seems to mean more at times. His relationship with Bre is making become a man and recognize there is more to life than the streets. So many people with access and intellect to take over, as each brother looks for their next step in life. I am looking forward to Taheed’s story and finding out the deceit within Piper and Doobie.
I’m so in love with Emmanuel and Kambre’s relationship. Manny aka Emmanuel was so damn sexy. I love the bonds between the brothers. You mess with one you mess with all. Great story & I am looking forward to the next Broadus Brothers story. All the drama going on in Emmanuel's story had me screaming and laughing at the same time at work lol. Can’t wait to find out who’s the snake in the group. Another great read from Shantae’, and I can’t wait to read more of her books. ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
I really enjoyed this book. It was refreshing to read just a lovable man even though he was about that life. I’m glad Kambre was able to stop blaming herself for what happened to her sister. Manny really got on my last nerve. I really did like him but he was putting Bre through too much for no reason. I’m really happy he was able to get it together by the end but he was playing on my girl top and still entertaining nasty hoes. I didn’t like that! Still in all it was a great book and I’m about to see what Taheed crazy self is doing in book 2
Romantic suspense is my jam. I love books that keep me on the edge of my seat while delivering book bae on a platter. Manny was everything and more. Sure he was spoiled and cocky but he possess a heart of gold. Kambre has suffered trauma and loss and yet Manny won her heart. Their journey hasn't been easy and with snakes lurking in the shadows it will continue to be a challenge. Their love is worth it. On to book two.
Bré and Emmanuel stressed me out, so I can only imagine how they feel! The truth is, what's meant to be will be whenever it's supposed to be. I feel like I know who the snake is but I'm going to wait it out! This is my first time reading a book by this author and I am impressed!
The one they call the hot head, finally meets his match when he falls in love. Manny finally sees her. This not only is sexy ,fun and entertaining story but you get moments when you see the inside of a man who 's knows what he's found. The writing and character development is just stellar and you are going to enjoy this from beginning to the end.
So I kept seeing this book and series recommended over and over and decided to give it a try. It was a good read. I loved the blooming love story between Manny and Bre and the brotherhood. The back story and individual grief or trauma they carried added to the storyline.
The editing made it a little hard to read at first until I got used to it. There were a lot of super long sentences with no punctuation, some dialogue with no quotation marks so I had to reread some parts because it was confusing. Other than that, the story is solid. Can’t wait to see what’s next on Taheed’s book.
I'm ready, I think? The story took so many turns and plot twist with just enough zing to keep me glued to my chair. Okay, let's see what happens next... Let's see.
This book was lit af frfr im in love with these brothers I can’t wait to read about the these other two bruh I think I’m be lil buck with these book bro. Hey y’all gotta get this book you want be disappointed
This is my first book by this author, and I must admit.. I AM HOOKED! This book was SO amazing. I absolutely love Kambrè and Emmanuel. Their chemistry is EVERYTHING! I can’t wait to read the next book.
Ok, I'm hooked on the Broadus brothers! Each book is so good you almost think it's better than the last but its not that. Each book in the series brings it's own energy and that energy is highly concentrated!
Manny is definitely a sour patch kid.. When he is sweet, he is wonderful but when he is sour, rage is understatement. I can definitely see the growth from the beginning to the end. There is enough drama and love scenes in this book.. definitely a good read.
I enjoyed this read. Emmanuel was kinda crazy like Bre said....a sour patch kid. All sweet in one moment and sour with attitude the next. They was good for each other. I'm waiting to see who trying to kill them and if Doobie is the snake. Can't wait to read the next book.
Listen I need some oxygen because I was holding my breath the entire time reading this book. It’s so much going on in here I read it straight through from cover to cover. This is a new author for me and I can’t wait to read everything she writes.
Hell yeah! This story was a page turner! I could not put this mf down! Damn near sat at desk at work reading this ish! Can’t wait to read the next book in this series, cause I know it’s gone be banging too!
Manny know he can pull some emotions out of a person. Poor bre to be carrying so much on her shoulders for so long. I love that they are each others peace. I love how their story flows
This held my attention all the way through. Emmanuel sometimes got on my nerves, but Kambré did too. I’m curious about all the brothers. I will continue reading. This is not a standalone. There’s a cliffhanger that will pick up in the next brother’s book.
