Half-Goddess Chronicles #1-3

The Half-Goddess Chronicles: Books 1-3

Rate this book
A supernatural apocalypse is brewing. And only secret magic can defeat it.

This is the omnibus of the first three books in the bestselling urban fantasy series The Half-Goddess Chronicles, collected together for the first time in one convenient volume.

Fans of C.N. Crawford, Ella Summers and Linsey Hall will enjoy this series.

Book 1 - Bound by Sorcery:

I may be an elemental mage, but I prefer the quiet life. My occult bookshop barely pays the bills, but it keeps me out of the limelight.

Unfortunately, things in the supernatural community aren't so quiet. When a New York banker is found murdered — with an ancient symbol carved into his chest — the Magic Council wants me to investigate.

But I won't be solving the murder alone. Tensions between gods and demons are heating up, so the Council gives me a partner: a powerful and frustratingly sexy fae.

And as if that weren't enough of a distraction, now someone's trying to kill me...

Book 2 - Infernal Curse:

Alexandra Shaw is days from coming into her full goddess powers but things are not going to plan. There’s a surge of demonic and vampire attacks in all major cities of the U.S. What’s worse, powerful mages are disappearing, and the Courts of Heaven and Hell struggle to keep it all hushed up.
As a Magic Council Investigator, Alex’s caseload is piling up fast. With the powerful fae Kagan Griffith at her side, she’s got a chance of tracking down the missing mages. But saving them is only one of her worries. An old enemy is stalking Alex from the shadows, ready to attack. A month ago he wanted her beating heart. Now he wants her magic.

Book 3 - Cursed Magic:

Goddess Alexandra Shaw thinks her troubles are over when she comes into her powers, but a moment later she is hit by a terrible curse.

Her mentor's quick intervention staves off the spread of the dark magic, but this is only a temporary fix, and there's no knowing when she will succumb to its toxic poison. Only a truly gifted shaman from Yorubaland can fully lift the curse. But in order for Alex to succeed, she’d have to team up with chief demon Kai, and learn to manipulate and control his dark, demonic energy.

While Alex and her boyfriend Kagan search for a cure, a new and deadly type of evil returns to Earth with devastating consequences.

Will Alex be able to fight off the attacks of mystical shamans, ancient monsters, and the Yoruba gods, and once again stop her archenemy, the inferni, from launching a magical revolution?

But as Alex quickly learns, there are far more terrifying things than death itself...

With an ancient curse threatening to wipe out her life and those of all her loved ones, will Alex be able to cheat her destiny again?

As soon as I started book one I knew I was going to enjoy this series it is fantastic from start to finish and I would recommend this to anyone that reads this genre or even if they don't they will still love it .
These books take you on an adventure that as you are reading them you will hate to put them down . The main characters are fleshed out perfectly and are easy to cheer for as they become fast friends .
The world building is excellent and doesn't feel forced as you can almost feel as if your there . The pace of the story is excellent and the pages keep turning way into the night .
So go ahead and do yourself a favor and buy this series you will not be disappointed it checks every emotional box . But it , read it and enjoy every page then go leave a review only takes a few seconds and it helps the author's more than you know .

Reading these books can be regarded as a transformative experience, as you soon start to feel as if you have become part of a new universe with rather unusual (mostly human) characters, who are also far from one-dimensional (perhaps with the exception of some of the villains). The main protagonist and narrator, Alexandra Shaw, tries to be virtuous and is like the voice of conscience in a number of respects, with the audience in a good position to connect with her. While it may not necessarily be an emotionally riveting story, fantasy and mythology aficionados will learn a lot from 'The Half-Goddess Chronicles' and maybe they will also be able to test their knowledge of certain terms that have to do with wizardry and the occult. It's also fun pondering questions pertaining to the relative strengths of the creatures encountered during the adventure (vampires, demons, shapeshifters, fae, etc.) one is immersed in as a reader. In a sense, even though certain characters never seem to escape their destinies, one gets the impression that even death can be reversible in Alexandra Shaw's world, which is encouraging and allows you to enter a more optimistic frame of mind. All in all, the novels are definitely worth reading and will appeal to a wide range of literary tastes.

These books by far are some of my favorites. I'm glad that I decided to pick them up to read them. They have so many emotions in them, some parts you'll laugh others you'll cry your eyes out. There are so many plot twists that it kept me on my toes. These are fantastic pieces of work and I would recommend anyone who likes this genre to read it.

‘Bound By Sorcery’ book one in Antara Mann’s urban fantasy The Half-Goddess Chronicles series.

Alexandra Shaw is an Elemental Mage or that’s what she has everyone believing she is. Only her mentor and her know that there is more to her, she has other powers that an Elemental Mage’s don’t possess. All her life she’s been told to be carful who she trusts and never let anyone more powerful know about her extra abilities. But when a mysterious ritualistic killing happens and Alex is brought on as an independent investigator to help solve it. Who or what she is, is going to be revealed.

A new to me author.

An excellent start to a series from the beginning you a thrown into a world full of magic, mystery, twist and turns, magical objects, secrecy and adventure. The storyline flowed well, it was fast paced and had me on the edge of my seat.

Alex is a kicka** heroine, with unknown powers and talents. She may not be able to use her powers as she is always suppressing them, but trusting her instincts is just what she uses along with her fighting skills. Working alongside shifters and a powerful Fae can’t be easy when she is the only female and the guys are considering trying to be the one in charge. But Alex does it and keeps kicking butt.

Kagan is a hot, mysterious, powerful specimen of a hero. He may seem a but arrogant when he is first introduced in the book, but he will win your heart over in no time. Especially with his magic constantly caressing. 😉

Brendan and Carlos both deserve mentions and recognition, but for different reasons.
Carlos the Vegetarian Tiger (I know right 😂) he may be a power tiger but he’s personality was welcoming, he never tried to be dominate and control everyone. He was cool, calm and friendly.
Brendan on the other hand irritated me, he was the one that begged for Alex to help out and then as soon as she gives any opinions or says something he didn’t like he would snap at her. Brendan just irked me and I’m hoping that he’s attitude and demeanor change in the upcoming books. As I can understand he was under a lot of stress with this book but it seemed as only Alex was the recipient of his bad attitude.

‘Infernal Curse’ book two in Antara Mann’s urban fantasy The Half-Goddess Chronicles series. This continues on from ‘Bound by Sorcery’.

Fresh from ending Garrett and his Inferni ally’s plans, Alex must learn to control her Goddess powers if she is to survive the next time Garrett decides to take her. But being a Half-Goddess isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. She isn’t aloud to be part of the Heaven clan as she is only a half goddess and working at the Magic Council as an investigation has her isolated and alone. Alex’s work load is pilling up, Mages are going missing and Demons and Vampires are attacking in large groups. Does this have something to do with Garrett or is there another evil lurking in the shadows.

Where do I start, I was a little unsure if I was going to continue this series as I found a few characters from the first book to be immature. But I am glad that I did. Alex’s character has grown into her role as a half-goddess working as an investigator for the Magic Council. Although Alex is a half-goddess she doesn’t think she is above the people she works with or for. At times I did think a few situations could have come out differently if she had asked for help sooner, but she did well with what she knew and had to work with.

Kagan continues to take a piece of my heart with each and every interaction that he and Alex have. He may be this big might deal of a Fae, but he is down to earth, he is humble, honest and oh so swoon worthy.

Things between Kagan and Alex are steamy up, and I can’t wait to see where their relationship goes in the up coming books.

This book will have you on the edge of your seat with anticipation of knowing what is going to happen next. Be prepared to be shocked and spell bound as this is a ride that you are not going to want to get off of.

‘Cursed Magic’ book three in Antara Mann’s urban fantasy The Half-Goddess Chronicles series. This continues on from ‘Infernal Curse’.

Alex’s Goddess powers are now unlocked, with the help from the Morrigan and Macha, the Goddess of War and Death, she will learn how to use these powers. With the Curse from Angus still active Alex and Kagan must travel to Africa to seek help from a Shaman, sounds easy right, wrong... Things ain’t what they seem and trying to break the Curse is going to be a difficult journey.

I am so glad that I took the chance to read this series, it was a little slow at the beginning in book one but by the time you get to book two you are hooked like a junky.

Alex has been through so much in only a few months, she’s been kidnapped to be sacrificed for a ritual to open the Inferno gates, kidnapped again to have her powers drained for another ritual and then cursed. With this in mind Alex is in more trouble then ever. Angus the Inferni is determined to release the Inferni from Inferno and it seems that the only thing being able to stop his success is Alex being able to escape his every attempt on her life. But this time it’s more than Alex’s life at risk, with this curse it will kill her slowly and horribly but it will also take her friends and loved ones.

Kagan once again proves to be the perfect boyfriend, he is always there to help Alex with whatever she needs, be it a shoulder to lean on, a magical boost, a hug or comforting words. Kagan you sweet, powerful, gorgeous Fae!

Nail biting, heart pounding journey, this book was one shocking and real character growing read. A lot of characters are going to surprise you and you won’t see the twist coming.

Well done Antara these books have had me on one heck of roller coaster and I can’t wait to see how you plan to finish this series off in ‘Genesis Magic’.

INCREDIBLE AND SOME...........
This series rates very high among all books in my opinion up with the best Authors.
Alex the main character in the book seems to think she is just an okay mage but she is far from it as she discovers as the story unfolds.
Her Partner ,friends and the enemies are also very interesting and talented.
When you read this book it takes you into another world ,one which you cannot escape until you are finished ,then like a drug you are left wanting more and more.
Its the characters and what they do in the story the keeps you clued to the pages.
There is lots of twist and turns and often hard to figure out what is going to happen next.
The story is really magical with great detail and i cannot wait for what is next ,you will love it so get the books.....
Do Not miss out on this

This is a great book series! Alex is a girl who thinks that she is just an ok mage. She knows she is something else but can't seem to find out what. She is a little nieve. She finally finds out what she is and she has to learn how to use and control it. This three book series ties together her journey. She has to defeat some powerful enemies and she learns a lot about herself along the way. She has help from her friends, boyfriend and a person who hates everyone. Wonderful series to pick up and read over the weekend or when you have extra time. It is addictive!

Alex, Kagan and Kai are doing all they can to stop Angus and lift the deadly curse he placed on Alex. Ultimately it comes down to Alex. Is she strong enough to defeat Angus before he unleashes the apocalypse? Can they remove her curse before it destroys her? Hot,hot, hot

Wow. The story warms up very nicely at the beginning but very quickly becomes an inferno. The characters are bought to life with carefully selected details and the storylines are amazingly powerful. The fight of good versus evil is very elaborate and draws your undivided attention. Can't wait to read the next books in this series. Definitely worth reading. Anyone with interest in mythology and epic adventures will be glad to have the set in,their library.

Good narrative, with interestings would-be spin-offs. The story flows smoothly and carries the reader through a parallel world in which magic and non magic co-exist, even when the common humans don't percive the magic world that surround them. Or, may be us?

Alex, Kagan, Kai, Marrigan

Alex is exploring her powers as a half goddess when she discovers that her mother was a goddess. She falls in love with Kagan, a Fae she meets while working to investigate several magical crimes.

Charectorization and plotting are excellent.

Should have been marked for older YA readers

The start was very promising, great story line that became rushed and ended up as a young adult rehash of Harry Potter. That’s nota bad thing but I wish for more gentle detail and a more measured revelation.

Great stuff, lots of action and some romance

The 3 books roll smoothly from one to the next, with continual growth in power and understanding by our heroin Alex. It might be argued that Alex isn't very in touch with her magic, even after lots of training by her fey boyfriend. Very action filled, keeping you engaged and interested in the outcomes.
