A pale imitation of the previous series and movies. The art is really weak as well. This just felt like a bad imitation of a Roger Moore era James Bond flick with some stupid subplot about Eggsy's mum and little brother thrown in. If I was Mark Millar, I'd be embarrassed.

I thought the first comic was fine - if nothing spectacular - and the movie based on it was actually a lot of fun. They each have their merits.

This book, though, seems to be picking up the worst bits of both worlds, and doesn't have much to offer in itself. A couple good scenes in the final chapter, even a smile. That's about it.

I didn't much care for the sloppy mess that was the first volume, so I'm not sure why I brought this home from the library. The new writer seems intent on aping the dumbness of what has come before. I shall not waste my time on a third volume should it come to be.

I like the graphic-novel Kingsman stories (the Millar original, and this GNUR) better than the movie versions. Mostly. There are some action sequences and fancy gadgetry in the movies that make good cinema, that you just cannot achieve in a comic without a huge investment of time and energy, and the movies nailed these. Here's how I like to imagine it:
Millar writes Kingsman. It's pretty awesome.
Hollywood buys the idea, makes the usual set of good and bad adaptations, and gives us movie-Kingsman, fairly awesome with a few higher highs and lower lows.
Image options the comic property and gives us Kingsman: The Red Diamond, with more Bond-esque moments. It's not Millar, so the social messages are watered-down, but it is still good.
Hollywood, ignorant of common sense, blunders through Kingsman 2: The Golden Circle, and someone makes a graphic novel of it as well.

There's some good action sequences here, and a lot of fun to be had with a South African agent that Eggsy crosses paths with, but the main villain here is just kind of stupid, and the whole 'take down all computers with a virus' plot makes no sense in its execution (and the side stories based on it are less than engaging as well). Still, Eggsy gets to be a spy and does it poorly, though still manages to pull everything off. And he gets to enjoy himself throughout. Lots of high pressure situations that often go poorly for those involved... and the art, while it has its moments (Hundred Dragons lift) is on the weaker end of passable. You'll recognize the main characters, but the detail provided beyond that isn't great. Still, for fans of the series (and the movies), it's a nice enough return to at least one character.

It seems as though this book was only published as a cash grab after the success of the movies. The writing is weak, and the art seems lazy and disastrous.

When a madman named Red Diamond hacks the world’s computer system and brings all financial systems crashing down, it’s up to Eggsy Unwin of the Kingsmen to save the day.

I love the Kingsman movies. Love love love them. And I was looking forward to reading the comics as the movies were based on them. This is the first one I read and, man, was I disappointed. Eggsy’s charming smugness is unbearable, the story is ridiculous (even moreso than the movies), and I just had no fun reading this book. I almost quit. Several times. But I forced myself to finish.

I shouldn’t have.

Pretty bad, all told, from the dumb plot to the weak art. Only a Kingsman superfan is going to like this.

"So, tell me Kwaito, in South Africa do they have a rare delicacy known as 'Scampi Fries'?
They do not, British.
Then you, my African Amazonian, Beyonce-esque goddess, have not lived."

Eggsy is a dick...

I casually threw this onto my library queue, thinking it was a sequel to the original Kingsman. While ostensibly it is, it basically has nothing in common with it but the barest threads (basic characters and setting).

It's got a different author and artist. The story is a cookie-cutter Bond story, and not a particularly good one at that. The story is fairly absurd (involving me going "what, really?" a ton of times), but what's even worse is that it *tries* to attempt some social commentary early on, but drops it when the action begins and ever really follows through on it by the end.

The art ranges from passable to just plain bad (especially with character dimensions).

Was expecting crazy stuff since this book was originally created by Mark Millar, and he’s nuts. So I was surprised how tame this was until the last page of the second to last issue.....oh my gosh the nutty bad guy was seriously nutty and it shows......you will get that if you see this page. But seriously gross. Fun other than that

2.5 stars. Quite a drop off from the original book. You can definitely tell there was a different creative team involved in this one. This more so felt like a new separate story/agent here.

This could have been better.
The whole taking the kid out of the slums rags to riches thing is getting old. He already "came to terms" with his background and his future. But we have to suffer through "Eggsy" still not up to the secret agent thing surviving as the scrappy kid with the accent. Yet in the end he still manages to save the day. I was hoping for something better than the 2nd movie but this was not it. Oh well.

The dialoge is more childish than in the previous volume and the plot bears some incosistencies. The biggest lest fown mat have been agent Kwaito, she had the potential to be something other the "strong hot black chick" but they boomed it. The sex scene was absolutely unrequired, it felt like like she was rewarding Eggsy with sex for having found the map, so her of "women want sex too" served no shit
purpose here. later on, Kwaito goes on stelaing the map back frome Eggsy; why would she do that? she just got saved by the man and then sagged him, only to tell him about "a suit doesn't make an agent". It's speaks very poorly of her.
now that we're talking about how characters' choices, why does eggsy's mum only gets with stupid useless men? she has made no good choice on partner in either volume, apart fro eggy's gather. She really took a turn for the worse after his death and never recovered. I feel tremendoulsy bad for her.
It doesn't make sense either how the henchman speaks, his obsession with movies pays no role in the plot and the way Eggsy makes out the localization of the base just by listening to his mumbling.
what saves the day for this comic is that in the ending all the cool characters survive and Eggsy kicking ass looking good in a suit.

Well, that was just really underwhelming when compared to the movie and the first volume. Kingsman, Vol 2 doesn't follow the same story line as the second movie but rather is continues on with the graphic novel. That being said, I feel like this graphic novel should have never been created.
The art is horrendous. Yes, it was probably hand drawn but my gosh is it ugly. Regardless of the plot, some of the drawings were awkward and the characters in those scenes did not look anything like what they should have.

As others have said, the plot seems like a complete replica of the James Bond stuff. There were some random scenes that didn't really fit in such as .

Overall, Kingsman Vol 2, seems like a gimmick produced by Image to piggyback on the success of the movie franchise and I would probably never recommend it.

This is the second collection about Eggsy, the spy. He no longer has his uncle to guide him. He now has to try and prove himself. An evil mastermind is trying to destroy the world's economy. Riots are breaking out worldwide and a beautiful South African agent can't decide if she wants to kill Eggsy or help him.

First off, this is not connected with the second movie in any way. It is a sequel of the first Eggsy collection which is similar but different to the first movie. I really enjoyed the movies, so decided to try the base materials. The main difference between the movies and the comics is that the comics are rougher or edgier.

if you keep that in mind and you enjoyed the movies, then you should like the comics as well.

Rotten Eggsy.
Ok - the dangers of comic franchising when the originators lose hold of their creations. Pretty average fare here, compared to the original Millar comic and the films. Any semblance of good writing and rough-diamond wit or charm is merely replaced by saying 'wanker' quite a bit. The art is a very average fare and often Eggsy's face can't seem to make up it's mind if it's trying to look like the original comic, the film actor, or even Colin Firth. Strictly second rate - sort of fun if you're really bored, and not the worst thing in comics - just a cash in job. Feeble.

I didn't like this one very much... It started out quite cool, but just like with the last one, everyone is kind of an asshole? Even the good guys? And the mum really annoys me.

The story felt a bit rushed, it started out with a lot of potential, but it was over before I really understood what was going on. Also, Eggsy is a lot more stupid than he should be in this? There's another character who even says it? But he keeps doing the stupid shit? Like, what? It's weird.

Yeah, I definitely like the movies better, sorry not sorry.

An incredibly disappointing sequel to the mediocre first volume. Eggsy is set up for an interesting arc: he’s a snob to the poor he used to live with, and vermin to the rich he works with. But doesn’t have any discernible character development through this entire story, and gets everything he wants in the end without changing at all. It’s also a miracle he’s a spy considering how incompetent he is, nearly getting himself killed constantly and being hotheaded and the very opposite of the Kingsman motif: manners maketh man.

Meaningful and even thought-out continuation of a very good comic. We have another intrigue that develops the Kingsman universe. It's nice to read but the drawings do not attract in any original way except brutality.

Whilst this comic is pretty average it is actually better than the origin, which was sub par.

The storyling suffers like the first comic in that it needed a good 40% more content so the storyline actually has depth and makes you want to care for the characters.

The Kwaito storyline was all over the place, and for someone who is supposed to be beautiful, they didn't draw her particularly well.

Even if you're a Kingsman fan you're not going to think this comic is anything but average.

If the first Kingsman wasn't so good, then maybe this one wouldn't feel like such a disappointment / cash-in on the success of the movie.

Madman wants to take over the world by crashing all of the computers. Eggsy has to stop him. Mom and brother are in peril. Other secret agent seduces/is seduced. Lots of people die.

Only fun was when Eggsy punched Prince Philip.

This was just as fun and enjoyable and silly as the first volume, and very reminiscent of the films. I liked the story and the idea of the Red Diamond as a villain (and all those pressure deaths were gory in the best way). It flew by as a read, and theoretically I think it could've worked better spread out over more issues, but it worked well in the six issues as it is.
