“Monetizing romance is always in season.”
I’m not sure the premise of the book is an actual representation of the plot. Zane and Kirena had a sexy night together and she ran out on him the next morning. He didn’t deny her or humiliate her. In fact, it was the other way around and she was the rude one. He had his rude moments later on, but they were due to his insecurities and fear of losing someone he loved. So the “enemies-to-lovers” trope described in the premise is not super accurate and I was kind of bummed about that. The times that the emphasis was put on the enemies-to-lovers story seemed forced. Other than that, this was an okay office romance. Zane wasn’t the cocky bastard that the premise and name of the series lead me to believe he would be. He was a strong, work-aholic with a tragic past and a hope not to end up like his father. He was a decent man who tried to do his best and often fell short. Yes, he liked to tease her and ruffle her feathers, and he yes, he was very hot and cold, but nowhere did he come off as cocky or an “enemy.” Karina was an okay leading lady. She had strength and confidence and seemed to have a fun personality, but she wasn’t consistent throughout the story. She would change with the mood or when the plot needed her to and that made her harder to root for than Zane. It was a really quick read and everything moved very fast. I was confused at some of the inconsistencies in the story like his exes name. Was it Sarah or Lindsey? And didn’t Karina say she didn’t care if she had kids or not? And then why did Zane put an emphasis on giving her the 2.5 kids so she could have everything? Also, the 2-3 week Hawaii work trip seemed really far fetched. As did the fact that they never wore condoms or spoke about birth control. I’m amazed it took them a year to get pregnant when they never bothered. Also, how come it took until the epilogue for the author to describe what Karina looked like? I was wondering through the whole book and it just seemed out of place. Because of the shorter page number the book fell flat in some places. Not a bad read, but not a good one either. I was honestly more intrigued by the mystery interviewee that panicked and left because “he” had talked to Zane than anything else in this book. That mystery is still making me scratch my head. And I’m really bothered by Brendan’s lack of fashion sense. What a waste.

If you like contemporary romances where the pair have a little history, you'll love this book. Zane and Karina's story will take you on an emotional roller coaster. From a drunken one night stand to arrogant and overbearing Big Shot boss. Their chemistry is explosive and the book is well written with an engaging story. Zane has a lot of emotional baggage from his fiance's death and Karina is still recovering from a bad ex. Lots of drama and turmoil when they end up working together. The characters were likable and the story was a good read. I read an arc copy and voluntarily chose to review.

This story was sweet and charming. At times you want to smack Zane but he grows throughout the story. It is well written and the characters are beautifully developed. Karina Is a sweet lady but at times I would have liked to see her a bit more assertive. As the story progresses we see why the characters are the way they were. They have fantastic chemistry and that is definitely felt throughout the story. It a emotional story that draws you in. A fantastic read!!!!!

Karina has just moved to Henderson Nevada away from San Francisco and her parents and back where she was born to live near her friends Roxy and Kelly. When this story ends she has narrowed her job search and is going to go out in the evening with her girlfriends. Karina Rosehill had been head of a HR department for a manufacturing company and the company went out of business. This is why Karina was in Henderson and not San Francisco. She wanted to start over again on her terms without the help of her parents, who she loved dearly. Then their is Zane Hearthstone brother of Brenden who together they owned a Realty company but as you would know, Zane was the business partner who did all the work and Brenden was the one who reaped the benefits.
Brenden decided it was time for his brother to go out and have some fun and get away from work so this finds him out with his brother but he still is on his phone conducting business. Kelly and Roxy, who are sisters and Karina's best friends dragged her out from her house so that she can have a good time and find her some one to get laid with. So this is how Karina and Zane happened to meet one another. Zane is still busy and Kelly is stuck all over Brenden, who they went to school with at Stanford. His brother Zane went to school with them too. Needless to say they are attracted to one another and they end up getting drunk and going home to her home and having hot sex. The next morning Karina wakes up to Zane in her bed and her not knowing what she is suppose to do and when Zane wakes up he didn't mind waking up to her but eventually she was gone and didn't come back until he left. Zane thought that if her perfume wasn't on his clothes and body he might have dreamed them being together.
They meet again at Kelly's birthday father her father threw for her at this expensive restaurant. In fact, the restaurant the Le Cirque was reserved for Kelly's birthday and of course they had Zane and Karina seated next to one another. I don't know if it was a mistake or not but they did get a chance to speak to one another for a little while until Brenden took Karina's chair and she sat up with her friends at the head of the table and they didn't get to discuss what happened that night. Karina gets a call from a head hunter after she changed the wording on her resume as Zane suggested and he told her he had a job for her after going over her resume. The things was that she had to go the interview asap and so she knew she couldn't go today but she told the headhunter that she could go tomorrow and so he set her up an appointment for 8:00 a.m. She goes but is late but it is okay because Brenden had set him up interviews for all that morning and she explained that she had something personal come up, which was her father had been taken to the hospital and so she had to make sure he was okay before she was in the right head space for an interview.
Karina decides that even though she knows Zane and Brenden she would interview for the secretarial position because she needed a job more than she needed to worry about their one night history together. So she becomes his secretary and this when the story really begins. They are tested in all kinds of ways. They take a trip to Hawaii and things go crazy. But I can't tell you anymore because I don't want to spoil what happens. Read this book. I highly recommend it. It is an easy reading book and it will make you laugh, and cry and make you angry and sad. It has it all. But it was a good read.

Surprisingly, he agrees to accompany his brother to a club to meet up with fellow Stanford graduates, Kelly and Roxy who bring Karina, their friend from high school and new Nevada resident. And the attraction between Zane and Karina is strong and sexual. But when by chance, the job recruiter tasked with filling the newly opened secretarial position, sends Karina to interview for position at Hearthstone Real Estate, both Zane and Karina must decide if they can work as boss and employee after their night together.
JP Comeau’s sweet story of redemptive and healing a love is well-paced with moments of life’s challenges and even risks balanced with the growing trust and love of the two central characters, offering both tension and satisfaction for the reader.

I'm not sure i would classify this book as enemies to lovers its more of a contemporary romance with mixed singles a past love and dealing with moving on from loss.
Karina has moved to Nevada to be closer to her friends and start over after leaving San Francisco when the company she worked for closed its doors but ots a good thing they didn't treat her very well anyway. Her friends show up tell her its time she have a good time she can continue her job search another day they meet up with Brendon and Zane witch went to college with Katrina's best friends. Anyway the drinks flow the work aholic Zane and Karina end up in bed together the next morning Karina freaks and leaves her place with Zane still in her bed she thinks that will be the end of a rather embarrassing moment for her but he and his brother are at her friend Kelly's birthday party. Zane teases her but she doesn't like it that should have been the end but Zane needs a secretary and without realizing it Karina is about to interview for the job. A new job a night neither one can forget and a business trip to Hawaii bring out all kinds of feeling good and bad but before the business trip is over Karina has enough of the lover Zane and the cold aloft Zane.
Zane likes Karina but he hasn't dealt well with the loss of his fiance so he works and dose nothing else but when Karina comes 8nto his life it leaves him excited and terrified so he pushes her away but when she finally leaves he knows he has to deal with his loss tell Karina and hope she forgives him and gives him one last chance.
Things I liked the story was good and easy to read but I had a hard time connecting to Karina she was a little to weepy and forgiving and Zane was just to back and forth with his emotions he needed more edge less mean boss its know wonder Karina couldn't figure him out. But this is my personal opinion it mite appeal more to other readers i have read other books by this same author that I liked better. But that being said this looks like a series there are 3 brothers but only two in this book Brendon and Zane I look forward to reading the other book coming out about Brendon.

Mr. Big Shot, An Enemies to Lovers Romance, by J.P. Comeau is the first book in this series. It is a good quick read. The characters are well developed. The story is good although I had a hard time picturing myself as the main character Karina most of the story. Usually, I am able to relate better with Ms. Comeau's female character.
Karina is a sheltered young woman, basically away from from for the first time with exception of one year in the dorm at college. She moves from San Francisco to Las Vegas because of longtime friends. Her friends are very wealthy, spoiled sisters, Kelli and Roxy, that love to party. Karina is not. She wants to concentrate on finding a job and getting established in a new place.
Zane is a workaholic that owns a successful real estate company with his jet setting brother Brandon. Brandon and Zane met the sisters Kelli and Roxy years ago at college. Brandon has kept in touch and drags Zane out to a club one night planning to meet up with the sisters. The sisters dragged Karina out the same night. Karina is pushed by Brandon and the sisters toward Zane. They end up in bed together even though they didn't really like each other.
Karina gets a call from a head hunter about a job she may be good for and arranges an interview for her. She shows up to the interview and the interviewer is Zane. Both are shocked, neither thinks it is a good idea to work together because of their history but Karina needs the job and Zane needs an employee and she has all the necessary qualifications.
Zane's behavior personally and professionally is erratic and hard to understand. Karina is unsure what she should do. She finally quits and leaves him on a business trip in Hawaii. She decides to move again, believing she could not continue to live in the same city as Zane. Zane begs for one more chance and of course she gives it to him or we wouldn't get our HEA.
This is a good read but not as great as some of her earlier works.

J. P. Comeau has written a 5-star book that will have you reading until the end just to find out what happens between Karina and Zane. Karina has moved to Las Vegas to be closer to her 2 best friends Kelly and Roxy. They end up taking her out one night and that is when she meets Zane but he ignores her and stays on his phone just to make his brother Brenden mad. After he is done with his business, he feels bad about the way he treated Karina so he goes back into the club and looks for her. They end up leaving and going to her house and spend the night together. She freaks out the next morning and she leaves Zane at her house and goes to get coffee but she doesn't go back. They see each other that night at Kelly's birthday party where he calls her out about leaving him that morning. Karina ends up working for Zane and when she starts he tells her they will be leaving on a business trip to Hawaii in 3 days. Zane doesn't want to get into a relationship with Karine because he doesn't want to lose someone again. He keeps people at arm's length and he uses work as an excuse in doing that. He lost his fiancee 6 years before when a drunk driver hit them. Things go good for Karina and Zane at first but then he gets a call from his fiancee's sister and it sends him back. He had a date with Karina but he stood her up and after that, she didn't see him. He sent her a note every morning with what she was to do that day. She talks to Kelly and Roxy and she tells them what has happened and they tell her that she needs to come home. She sends Zane an email and tells him she can't do it anymore. He gets home and Brenden is there wanting to know what he did to Karina. Zane asks what? Brenden tells him that Karina is packing up her house getting ready to move. Zane has realized that he needs Karine in his life.
Can Zane find a way to get Karine to give him a second chance?

This was a wonderful book and I would recommend this book to anyone.

Karina Rosehill is seeking a new life in Las Vegas after being laid off from her job in H.R. Her best friends, Kelly and Roxy, are already there so she's not going to be alone in the new city. They want her to live a little and insist on going out to Omnia Nightclub to find her a man for the night. Zane Hearthstone and his brother, Brenden, own a huge real estate business in Las Vegas. Zane is a workaholic and rarely leaves his office. Brenden tries get him out of the office as often as possible, but Zane won't have any of it. Finally, Zane gives in as long as his brother will leave him alone and stop nagging. But once they arrive at Omnia Nightclub, he once again takes his phone out and is back to doing business. Kelly and Roxy had gone to college with Zane and Brenden, so it only makes sense that they would find each other in the crowd. Karina can't keep her eyes off Zane when she spots him up on the staircase and he thinks she's gorgeous. After a few drinks too many and little food, they leave and wind up at Karina's rental. After a night of passion, Karina panics and asks him to leave. Later in the day, at Kelly's birthday party, both of them are uncomfortable and they simply walk away from one another. How could things go from so hot to so cold within a day. Their attraction is still burning and they can't stay away from each other, but Zane has a habit of disappearing on her. He is haunted by ghosts and regrets that have frozen him in place. No matter how much he likes Karina, and wants to be with her, he doesn't dare chance losing her. Their business trip to Hawaii is the turning point. She feels as if Zane is ordering around instead of including her in his activities. Karina decides she's had enough. Brenden comes through, as sometimes brothers do, and steers him in the right direction. Brenden is next to fall!

After dealing with a no good ex and starting over with a new job it's hard to know what to do first... heal from a years long relationship or figure out how to get a new job. Sometimes it's best to start fresh and that is what Karina did! New town, old friends and a new place all make up for a brand new slate to write the next chapter in her book but before I start writing … did someone say drinks??? Why not!

To love with your whole heart and soul is the greatest feeling until your left with a hole in your chest and a life filled with business deals, paper work and more business deals. Zane is a solid man and everything that entails... so what do you do when you when your heart and your mind are waring against each other???
It was supposed to be fun yet it was so much more. Is Karina ready... or Zane? It's not easy when you have to do the work to get your heart and your mind on the same page. Although when we think of the word pain we understand that it can be something that makes us uncomfortable and to feel hurt but there are various types of pain. There is the pain of a divorce, the pain of a break up and then there is the pain from a paper cut... all though the types of pain are all different there is still that work that needs to be done whether it's from therapy, some Neosporin or just hanging out with friends you have to do the work to get your life back and embracing all of the joys it has for you!

This is a great read by J.P. Comeau ,,,,
Karina Rosehill is a 25 year old whom just moved to Henderson Nevada after being laid off from her job in Human Resources Department ,,, her job and the company she worked for couldn't evolve with technology,,, they were a manufacturing plant and it was also after her heart had been broken, badly ,, she has 2 best friends Kelly and Roxy,, ,, Kelly and Roxy are sisters, Roxy is the youngest,,,,, they moved to Vegas after they graduated,,,, she had to tell her parents that Henderson was on the top 10 places to reside ,,, the family is originally from San Francisco,,,, she now lives 15 minutes from "The Strip" in Vegas and she wants to make it on her own,,,, now, her friends are taking her out and they are going clubbing ,,,, she really would rather be home ,,,, but then her eyes see something she likes the look of,,,,

I love this book! A heartfelt tale, the story of Zane and Karina is well worth reading! They meet when her friends Roxy and Kelly convince her to go out to a club with them. Zane is there with his brother and business partner Brenden. Zane is busy with work for their real estate company and is paying more attention to his phone then her. Until she gets his attention by touching his shoulder. He wants to talk to her but business calls and he leaves to take an important call, leaving her a bit hurt. He realizes once his call is over how rude he was and goes back to make it up to her. The night ends with them in her apartment in bed together. She panics the next morning and leaves him alone in her apartment, which starts a back and forth journey for the two of them. She ends up working with him and a work trip to Hawaii is full of ups and down and Zane being hot and cold but he finally settles down and the two are spending every night in each other's arms. Until a phone call brings up his painful past and throws him into a tailspin. It will take Karina leaving and some harsh words from her for him to realize that he can no longer live, haunted by the past. In a grand gesture, he tells her a bit of the story and promises to be better and she lets him. This eventually leads to their happily ever after that starts where their relationship truly began - Hawaii.

Karina is starting over in need of moving on she decides to move closer to her friends. Las Vegas is a different lifestyle than she is used to but her friends are trying to help her acclimate. On a night out she is introduced to Zane, but he is not interested in anything other than work. Zane is a workaholic but he has his reasons for it. Unable to move on from his past he brushes Karina off as a moment of weakness. Things stay this way until Karina unknowingly applies for a job as his personal secretary. Zane knows she is the best fit for the job but is afraid of thier attraction towards one another. One business trip changes everything and not all for the better. Hurt and embarrassed Karina leaves and plans to move back home. Zane finally realizing he needs to move on from his past tries to make it to Karina before he loses his chance forever. Zane definitely has some making up to do but will Karina be willing to put her heart on the line again? These two have some serious hurdles to jump over in order to get their chance at forever but they are willing to work on it together. It was a great read and was very true to real life feelings when trying to move on from what you may have thought was supposed to be your forever. Amazing book and hoping for more books in the future from this group especially Zanes younger brother.

This is the 1st story in a new series, Kinda Cocky where we meet Karina who has left CA for Vegas to be near her best friends, Roxy and Kelli who are spoiled rich girls. The girls have a night out and end up meeting college friends Brandon and Zane who are brothers. They own a very successful real estate business and Zane is the work alcoholic and is very rude to Karina even though they end up leaving together and spend an amazing night together then Karina leaves Zane the next morning. Brandon is with many women and rarely works so he enjoys life and when he makes Zane hire a new assistant and hires a temporary agency to send several applicants over and low and behold Karina shows up. Both Zane and Karina have a serious conversation and they end up agreeing to keep it professional and Karina gets a much needed job. Karina is great at her job and Zane becomes hot and cold with Karina as he still has not handled his painful past and during a business trip things move into a personal place and then ends up hurting Karina to the point she leaves and plans to move back to CA. When Zane sees he can not live without Karina and how important she is to him he goes all out to get her back! Karina moved to Henderson, Nevada needing a change from living with her parents in her hometown. She wants to spend most of her free time looking for a job since she recently became jobless when her employer shut down. Karina and Zane are similar in they would prefer staying in to partying all night long. Zane also happens to be a workaholic so he doesn't have to think about the loss he experienced years before.
She meets Zane while out in Vegas with her two best friends. After initially giving Karina the brush off because he was securing his next big deal, he feels guilty and returns for a drink, or more. They end up sleeping together. A couple of days later Zane is interviewing Karina for an administrative assistant position and they agree to never go there again. They work well together, and while on a work trip to Hawaii things get interesting again.
Zane has a hard time committing because of his past love and Karina is tired of getting the hot/cold treatment. I don't want to spoil it, but they both had a bit of adjusting to do if they want to make it work.
This was a good, quick read. The characters were relatable and the writing provided great supporting characters. I look forward to reading the next in the series.

Karina is new to the town and her friends drag her out to a club where she meets Zane, who was also talked into going out on the town by his brothers. Zane is throws mixed signals to Karina but at the end of the night they end up going home together but seems like they both regret it the next day and Karina leaves before Zane gets up. The surprise comes when Karina goes on her first job interview and finds out that Zane could be her boss. They both think it’s a bad idea for her to take the job, but she is very qualified and needs the job so she takes it. There is chemistry between them no doubt but Zane has issues from his past that make him the way he is. One minute he’s nice the next he’s distant and cold. He loves to bury himself in his work to keep from dealing with his feelings. Karina finally gets enough and quits. Will Zane wake up and realize what he could be missing out on?
This was a good fast paced read with that deals with grief and emotions. Zane and Karina may start off slow but they develop plenty of chemistry.

This is the first book in a new series by this very talented author and like all her work it flows well don't know if it was because I enjoyed it so much but it seemed to be a little shorter than her normal works but you aren't short changed in any way if it is

Being able to stand on your own two feet without the help of your parents stepping in to help you out is where Karina finds herself back home again in Nevada. With her best friends looking for a job. Going out with her friends that decide she needs to get laid by any means necessary is when they hook her up with Zane, Brenden brother who Kelly is star struck by. As you know Zane and Karina do they do and you ghost him the next day. They meet again at Kelly birthday party. They managed to talk some but not enough to get answer to questions from their one night stand. Karina needs a job and goes to work for the brothers. Spending time together, going places, the chemistry that was off the chart all leads to romance. This book was very entertaining and had you wondering if they would get together, work thru their problems, will her father be okay, would she stay or leave and would their love prevail? You would never be disappointed in reading one of JP Comeau books. The story comes alive as if you are right there with them.

Karina moved to the Las Vegas area for a new start after being laid off and friend’s invite her to party at a club with them to help forget her job search for the night. She meets their friend Zane who is a cold, no nonsense, hard working businessman who was forced to join his brother at the club. They end up hooking up and Karina is shocked the next morning to realize what she did and she flees her house the next morning before Zane even wakes up. She meets him again at a dinner where she tries to ignore him. Karina & Zane are both shocked to realize she is being interviewed to become his secretary/assistant. Will she get the job and what will become of their relationship?
I enjoyed this fun, romantic book and loved the characters. The characters were well developed and I would love to read about some of the other characters from this story. I always love J. P. Comeau’s stories and this was another great book to read.

Zane is a successful realtor in Las Vegas. He owns his company with his playboy brother. He is a true workaholic that never takes a break. We find that this is due to the tragic loss of his fiancé years ago.
Karina has moved to Las Vegas and is looking for. Job and to spend time with her besties. She meets Zane at a club through her friends and they spend the night together. She panics and leaves her house. They meet again that weekend and have an awkward exchange mainly due to Katrina.
When Katrina interviews to be Zanes secretary that night is a factor that they agree to work around. Instead they head to Hawaii and hook up. But Zanes past love and loss hold him back. He doesn’t communicate this reason and Katrina walks away. Zane has one chance to come clean and have his HEA.

When Karina was laid off from her job she decide to move to Vegas to be near her friends and for a fresh start. Her first night out with her friends she meets Zane and they have a connection. Zane is your typical workaholic and he goes through secretaries like tissues. Karina is having some issues finding a job and after spending a night with Zane she worries about starting something up with someone when she doesn't even have a job. When her friends set them up again things are somewhat awkward but they muddle through. Karina takes Zane's backhanded advice and revamps her resume. She ends up interviewing at his company and neither is expecting to see the other. Will them working together change things between them? Can they have a future together?
This is a greats story that will draw you in from beginning to end. The chemistry between them is blazing hot. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover,

Mr. Big Shot will have you on emotions on a wild ride. They will be taken up and down, twisted and turn inside out. This book is the flight of Zane and Karina struggle with their past to not to be part of their future.
Zane has thrown himself into his work to escape his memories and pain of the women he lost. This has made him just a little unbearable sometimes at work. Karina has lost her job, but is strong and determined to make it. Fate have them crossing paths as their lives become weaved together.
The confusion and despair Zane feel will break your heart, just when he sees the light of a future his past darkens his world. Karina is written wonderfully. You see her confidence in her determination not to give up and be willing to step back in her career just to get where she needs to be.
This is another great by J. P., Comeau that you will not be able to put down once you start.

Romance that is both simple and very moving

I really liked this story, especially for its characters and their jagged relationship, not by the choices of the heroine, but by the complexity of the male character. The story is a little hot, but it is above all moving.

She finally gets an interview for a job and she discovers with surprise that this is with Zane, who also hadn't seen who was the last applicant.
Zane can be very harsh, cold and keeps his professional distances, but sometimes the attraction felt from the first day seems to reappear. His behavior can be more than frustrating and affects Karina.

Mr. Big Shot. I have to admit I enjoyed this story. I was surprised at the story. It took me on a journey of Karina moving to a new city to make it on her own. No mommy or daddy helping her through life. Her two best friends were there to help, but this was an adventure she wanted to do on her own. She gets a job with a real estate company. Zane needed a secretary and hired her. They jet to Hawaii for some business deals with a little extra activities to go with that. Something goes wrong and Karina is left with a broken heart and not sure why. But Zane realizes what he's done and tries to fix it. A great happy ever after! Great short story! This story is about Zane and Karina. Karina has just moved to Vegas as she is looking for a new job, well her friends end up inviting her to a club. Zane on the other hand is a workaholic and his brother makes sure to drag him with him to the club as well. They are both introduced by Karina’s friend and Zane’s brother. There is an attraction, but Zane is still conducting business while at the club. Before you know it they end up together drunk in her bed and she leaves mortified of she did, but then they have another encounter which is at her friends birthday party, but they do not get to talk about that night. The story then takes off when she is interviewing for a position with him, can they manage to work together without bringing up that night?
