Ofelia Archer is living the dream … or as close as seemingly possible. She owns her own business, her father seems to be on an even keel, and her new relationship with Detective Zacharias Sully is cruising right along. Everything changes in an instant, though, when screams from the street lead to zombies running amok through the French Quarter. Ofelia is a tough witch who takes no guff but even she is at a loss. Who is creating the zombies? Where are they coming from? They’re not rising from the dead as much as being bumped off and used as an invading army. Sully wants to take control of the investigation but the higher-ups in the New Orleans Police Department assign the case to a new detective, much to his chagrin. That detective is keen to find answers. Unfortunately, he’s looking hard at Ofelia to find them. Sully and Ofelia are going to have to work together to find answers. Their adventure will lead them from the French Quarter to the Garden District and beyond. Even then, when things start coalescing, gnashing teeth won’t be the worst of their problems. Months ago they were two factions working on their own. Now they’re together, and stronger for it. Not all the magic in the Big Easy is good. Some is evil … and the two sides are about to collide.
I read 3 books of this series in a month which usually doesn’t happen when it comes to series.
Many romance stories don’t show the romance after they get together. That is why I like Ofelia and Sully’s relationship. We get to see them when there before the relationship and in a relationship. It’s refreshing.
I also love the mystery aspect. I’m not usually a big musters gal but this series is cozy and amazing.
I didn't think I'd like this series. I read Book 1 months ago and decided it wasn't for me. I was between books and decided to pick it up again. To be honest, it was mostly for the romance. I love the way the men in these books love. I'm glad I picked it back up because I'm addicted once again. I've already read Books 2, 3 & 4 in two days. If you love series by Lily Harper Hart or Amanda M. Lee you'll love this series.

The books in this series are getting BETTER and BETTER!!! we get more details on the characters with each! BOOK 3 is FULL of interesting bits on Ofelia's childhood, more on Oscar's earlier years when Ofelia was a little girl AND best of all more info. on Pacal, the VAMPIRE in the books!! I hope we get even MORE on everyone. This book is about a mystery surrounding the SUDDEN production of Zombies by someone for unknown reasons. It is SOOOO GOOD !!! I HATE zombies with a passion but the author did a good job with it and wasn't GROSS with it so I kept reading. HAD to find out what was gonna happen with Ofelia and Sully in THIS BOOK so I couldn't let a Zombie apocalypse stop me!! And Ofelia and Sully were AWESOME in this book!!! I guess the THIRD ONE is the charm!! I like that these books are all DONE by the end and you can quit the series anytime you want!! I am just hoping the author doesn't quit b/c I'm HOOKED on Ofelia and Sully's love story and the rest of the "cast" of characters are awesome too!! I want to see FELIX fall in love too now.
It's still early days in Ophelia and Sullys relationship but things are going well despite all the supernatural goings on surrounding them. Sully is enjoying a nice night off ha going out at Ophelias bar just watching her work when a commotion outside draws their attention. A man comes running into the bar shouting about the end of days being here. It's not the end times just some Zombies something Ophelia has dealt with before but upon closer inspection there is something different about these Zombies, something that shouldn't be possible, they are not the dead rise from the grave they are newly dead, killed then immediately brought back to life. Ophelia has never seen or heard of anything like this before, but if she and Sully want to stave off disaster they are going to have to find out who is causing this to happen quickly.
Always an action packed and fun supernatural cozy mystery series
Always an action packed and fun supernatural cozy mystery series. An awesome cast of characters and a very entertaining storyline. Ophelia is a witch and she owns and runs a bar in New Orleans that mostly caters to supernaturals. It is smack dab in the middle of the tourist district however. She gets the occasional tourists as well as mini supernatural‘s coming to her bar. Her boyfriend is a detective and she has many supernatural friends. Her father who started the bar still hangs around and helps her out. He has his own issues but she is there to keep him in line. Follow along as she helps out those that need help and puts down those who try and do evil. A very entertaining group of characters and stories. Check it out
I'm a big fan of instalove. I hate when you know a couple will get together but it takes five books to get them there. The chemistry between Sully and Ofelia is awesome. Actually, there is nothing about this series I don't like. The fact that you write as both Lily and Amanda plus put out the volume of books that you do (all of which are awesome) leaves me awe struck. Here's to another successful book and a big thank you from a huge fan for all of your hard work and dedication. I can honestly say I look forward to each and every one of your books....Thank you!!
Another solid book in this series. The father wasn't as annoying. I'm glad the author pulled back on the emotional abuse "Fe" was getting from her family.
The story was interesting and I liked that Pascal played a somewhat bigger role in the story.
The one thing I don't really like is Zach being a shifter. It doesn't seem to really mean anything. I don't understand why he was made a shifter if he has no particular powers and doesn't seem to be any stronger than a human male. So, he has slightly heightened senses, big whoop. I would have liked to see this developed more. It's a minor quibble though and I just see it as a missed story telling opportunity.
I’ve never been to New Orleans. I love a good Hurricane in a tall glass with a beautiful garnish, but I’ve never indulged in one in the French Quarter. Reading this fun, snarky series is like a mini vacation; I feel the atmosphere of the Big Easy with every page I turn. Ofelia and Sully are a great pair, well matched as a supernatural bar owner and a city detective. There is enough hinky, dangerous, untoward activity going on in their city to keep the author concocting new adventures for them for a long time. I for one hope she does.
So glad I decided to give this series a-look-see! I've found it fascinating! Ms. Hart pulls you into the story line and it's as if you're right there while all the things are happening. When I'm reading one of her books I have a tendency to block everything else out. She's A phenomenal author. She made me want to dive into my Kindle and rip Thredson limb from limb. Any author who can make a reader hate, like, love a character just by her/his words alone in my book is phenomenal.
Curse a Brew Streak is Book 3 in the Supernatural Speakeasy Cozy Series. I really love this cozy paranormal series set in New Orleans.
There are zombies running in the street of the French Quarter and Ofelia and Sully are trying to get to the bottom of what is happening. Unfortunately there is a rookie detective on the case and he is making things hard for the new couple.
I LOVE this series, its so much fun. I could not put it down and can't wait for the next one!
This series is getting even better as it goes along. There is more depth to the characters backgrounds which I like, but also their magic. Really looking forward to the next. In this book Fe and Sully are trying to investigate how live people are being turned into sort of zombies, all while being hamstrung by an over eager Jr detective. One that is insistent the Fe is guilty, which sends Sully into a tailspin. Highly recommend.
A budding crazy love where they'll do anything for each other, and a zombie apocalypse. Add in an obsessive, controlling, bossy young detective that's the lead on the case and you've really got some great stuff going on. I couldn't put this book down!! It captivated me right away and held my attention all night long. I highly recommend this book and this series!!!
Zach and Fe are back to solve a brand new mystery. Someone is raising zombies, and they need to figure out who before the city is overrun. This time the bad guy is closer than expected… We get to finally find out how Sully and Pascal know each other in this story as well as see Sully’s and Fe’s relationship progress to the point where she’s no longer worried about what others think.
I always enjoy this author and this series is no exception! The characters and relationships are fun to watch developing from one book to the next. The storyline is fast-paced with twists and turns, plenty of snark, and a healthy dose of romance to keep a reader happy. I can’t wait for the next book!
I am a fan of this author. She draws interesting characters who are relatable. She keeps good and evil separate and there is comfort in that. These stories are always fun just from the characters. Then the plot will wind around and manage to surprise and leave you satisfied. If you need a good book to live in, Amanda or Lily is your girl.
This series is shaping up to be one of the best series Lily Harper Hart We Had has wrote. I love the intrigue mixed with the paranormal and the romance . I like that this series is a little more romance and get the heroine is still such a strong character . I'm totally loving this series!!
How good Curse a Brew Streak! Even before I wrote this review I had already ordered the next book in the series! Lily Harper Hart is an absolute wonder and her books never disappoints! I can't wait to see how Ofelia handles meeting Sully's mother!
I enjoyed this immensely. Being from Louisiana, I will say these make me hungry. Though most of this author's books do. Lol. Pascal had some great scenes. The kitten has been named and a great story all around. Recommended series as are all series under this pen name, as well as under Amanda M Lee.
Mild sexual situations, little violence and not graphic.
I love the regular characters in this book and the first two books were great. In this one, the "villain" seemed to come from nowhere and Ophelia's suspicions, although proven true were a bit of a stretch. It was still an entertaining read.
I have to be honest, I listened to the first 2 books on audio; and it was the story that kept me listening (not a big fan of the voice, she is irritating) not the audio quality. These are fun, interesting characters and clean with a little steam books. Looking forward to Book 4, I recommend this series.
This is one of my favorite although I haven't read much under this pen name. Due to this series I plan to change that. The characters in this series are so colorful and the cozy mystery always throw some to element that you just cannot see coming. This book was a fun read and loved it.
Another fun story from New Orleans. It was an interesting story but the reveal was a little too quick. Finding out about the detective was too easy and left the drama a bit flat. I would enjoy a little more description about the area as it appears we’re all expected to know what New Orleans looks like.
Enjoying this series very much. Get to see the relationship grow between Ophelia and Sully. I like the sex relationship is not shoved in your face. I enjoy learning more about all the characters and the mingling of their relationships. This one kept me guessing as to the villain but was not totally surprised by part of reveal. Once I start reading I could not put it down as it was that good.
When zombies appear outside of Krewe, Sully gets a very green partner. This guy has no idea about the paranormal world, so he's trying to pin Ofelia as the main suspect.
But it turns out that the new detective does know a thing or two about paranormals; his mother is a notorious one.
Great characters, good vs. evil, life, death, humour, all whilst holding that realism aspect, even if we are reading about witches, kelpies, and shifters. The storytelling is just the right amount of suspense and magic all tied up with fantastic endings that, although leave you satisfied, always leave you wanting more.
This is a fun say about the paranormal existing along with humans in New Orleans. The characters are well developed and the conversations flow naturally The plot and subplots move quickly, making it hard to put the book down. Can't wait for the next installment!
What a wonderful addition to this series. It’s nice to learn a bit more about Sully and to see him interact with Ofelia’s family. The storyline was great as always with an end I didn’t see coming.
Lots of surprises in this one. Sully and Fe are making progress on their relationship. Add in a bunch of fresh zombies, a new detective who is a major PITA, and a mysterious creator in the French Quarter to cause all kinds of havoc. I couldn't put it down.
Amanda Lee just writes beautiful stories with amazing characters and I can’t get enough of her books. Fe and Sully are such a great duo and could. I loved the mystery and can’t wait to meet the mom!
