A fight eight years ago almost destroyed my future, but after years of working blue-collar jobs, I might just have a chance at a fresh start. The Ridge City police have recruited me for a brand-new, top-secret program. My task? Infiltrate a ring of weapons dealers and identify the major players to help the cops bring them down.
When my beautiful community college teacher gets caught up in the mix, I’ll move heaven and earth to save her—even if it means getting hurt in the process.
Stella
The gorgeous, quiet guy in my comp class caught my eye from day one, but when he writes an essay that reveals a deeply personal detail, I can’t help but fall harder for him. He’s got real talent I want to help him develop, even though the lines of our teacher-student relationship quickly get blurred.
But there’s so much more to this blue-collar, ex-con bad boy I never knew.
Great start to a new series. It had a little if everything, danger, intrigue and forbidden love.
Stella is a teacher at the local community college at only twenty five, she lives her job but recently she has found it a little different ever since Aidan walked into class she’s been attracted to him but with her being his teacher knows it would be wrong of her to even think it. Would taking the risk be worth it?
Aidan is an ex con who’s been offered the chance to clear his name by working as a police recruit undercover infiltrating a local gun gang. Things are going well for him and his life is on an even keel, but the one thing missing is Stella, she’s his creative writing teacher at the local community college and way out of his league. But when she asks him for a drink and they are spotted by some of the gang he’s working with he realises the danger he’s putting her in. She’s the only one to ever believe in him and not judge him but with danger around the corner can he really walk away?
Honestly this author writes short romances that have everything covered. Both these characters really were made for one another and their journey is certainly entertaining. 4.3 🌟 Read. I am voluntarily reviewing an advanced reader copy of this book.
Book 1 in the new Ridge City Recruits series and it is a great start. Stella and Aidan were a great couple. She was his writing teacher at college so that makes it a forbidden teacher/student romance. Aidan is working undercover to help bring down a gun ring. Loved their chemistry and attraction. This story had a bit of everything – romance, action and a hea. Can’t wait to read more of this series.

Aidan is the first book in the new Ridge City Recruits series that interplays with characters from the Badge Bunnies series. Aidan Kelly is twenty-six and found himself on the wrong side of the law eight years ago. He was arrested and convicted of a violent crime even though it was self-defense. Since then he has kept out of trouble but the conviction has followed him so he is limited by what type of work he can do. But he is trying to do better and taking classes at Ridge City Community College to get enough credits to transfer to the university and get a degree. Two months ago one of his friends took him to "a meeting" with the Ridge City PD, even though he has successfully avoided all police since his arrest and conviction. The meeting was an interview of sorts to see if he would be a good recruit to join a program. He would become a civilian informant and infiltrate crime rings. If he was successful they would expunge his record. Stella Smythe is twenty-five and a teacher at Ridge City Community College where she teaches writing courses. Aidan Kelly is one of her students in her composition class in the evenings. Stella has been attracted to Aidan since he first walked into her classroom. But he is off-limits as she could lose her job if she got involved with him. However, one of the assignments that she gave was to write a five page essay about a single event that changed the course of their life. Aidan wrote an essay that so impressed her that she thought it could be entered into a competition. So she and Aidan begin to work together, as she will edit it for him. Aidan has been hot for Stella since her first saw her. She makes him dream, or more like fantasize, about her. But he does not have time for a relationship right now as he is working his construction job, going to college and also working undercover infiltrating a gun running ring for the RCPD. But his worlds are about to collide and in a big and bad way. It will effect Stella and only by his quick thinking and wits will they both get out of it alive. But the end result is going to lead to a future that he never dreamed would be possible.............. and it includes the girl of his dreams.
This is a great first book in the new series. The story has action, drama and is sweet and sexy hot with nice characters that are realistic. Plus add in the sexy adult times and it is a great read. A definite recommend read!!!
I kind of loved this story. It was interesting and enjoyable as well as the first I've read with someone working with the police like this. The characters were relatable.
Aidan is a very busy man. He works construction, is taking classes, and is part of a new program that the Ridge City police recruited him for. Aidan's part in the program with the police is to get into a group of weapons dealers and identify the head honchos so that they can be taken down. On top of all that, he likes his teacher and isn't sure about pursuing a relationship with her because of his past.
Stella is a teacher and Aidan is one of her students. She noticed how attractive he was from the beginning but knows that it's probably not a good idea to get involved in a teacher-student relationship. When Aidan turns in an essay about what happened to him when he was 18, Stella is impressed and touched on a personal level. The essay reveals that he has talent and she wants to help him develop it even though it brings them closer.
I liked this student and teacher romance with a twist! The program that Aidan was involved in sounds interesting and I hope there will be more stories about people involved in it as well. I really got a kick out of how Aidan found out that Stella liked him. I loved how protective Aidan was of Stella. Their happy ever after made me a happy camper! I recommend reading this book.

Aiden is the second installment in Mazzy King’s Ridge City Recruits series. In it she chronicles the romantic journey of Stella and Aiden. She is a community college professor and he is a student, an ex-con, and an undercover police recruit. His assignment to help uncover the mastermind of a gun running group. Can Aiden find success as an undercover recruit? Will there be a future for Stella and him? To find out, you must read this book.
Once again, Ms. King penned another captivating romance tale with a bit of suspense. Her characters are multi-dimensional. The dialog is strong. The use of a dual POV allows readers to understand the nuances of her lead characters and their dynamics. I like the way she introduces the next lead male character in this series in each conclusion.
A really enjoyable book one in the Ridge City Recruits series! It is an engaging well written page turner with suspense, drama, danger, and twists and turns. Likeable characters; the chemistry between them is amazing. A recommended read! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This is the first book in Mazzy's new series, which is also a spinoff of a previous series, however, it's not necessary to read the previous series. This was another quick and easy read and an amazing start to a new series. I can't wait to find out more about the Ridge City Recruits and what is in store for them. Mazzy has a great story line going here as well as some romance with plenty of steam.
