Godslave has all the magic, flair and family drama of Egyptian Mythology, with monster fights and the bond between a God and the girl tricked into working for him.
While taking a year off university to figure out what she really wants in life, Edith becomes embroiled in a Pantheon-sized family feud turned war. All over a bunny-eared dog in a canopic jar.
When Edith accidentally frees a god from his prison, he grants her one of his Ba- an embodiment of his power- to help fight off their pursuers.
The god claims to be Anubis, and that he was imprisoned in the canopic jar by his family. He tasks Edith with collecting the rest of his Ba (who tend to manifest as giant monsters) and returning him back to his true form.
Edith struggles with trusting Anubis, and her conscience, when she realizes she enjoys the fighting. She faces off against gods, monsters, Horus' iron Blacksmith soldiers, and her doubts about this dog calling himself Anubis.

FANTASTIC! This is one of the best graphic novels I have had the pleasure to read. The clear undercurrent of research and understanding of Egyptian mythology really makes you feel a sense of weight behind this story. The art is engaging and vibrant, while the story is complex and deep.

Fun, well done graphic novel about a young woman who accidentally opens a canopic jar containing the spirit of the Egyptian god Set. Apparently the Egyptian pantheon is alive and well in the modern world and they really want to keep Set contained. Our heroine things otherwise.
