Dark creatures lurk about longing to take what they can from the gentle heart of a wandering princess. Her beauty and curiosity are her downfall. This is a short fantastical story written in poetic form.
This is a great read from Sara. The story is told entirely through poetry, which I found to be very creative, artistic and entertaining. I found the poems to be personal, honest and heartfelt and the ending was inspiring and hopeful!
In my head I could picture this as a musical, with the poems acting as songs for the characters and the sets and clothing would take on a beautifully dark and gothic tone!
As you can tell, I really enjoyed this, so much so that I would definitely read it again. I for one can't wait to see what the future holds for 'The Princess'! Thanks for a great read, Sara!
I liked this book. Even though it’s nothing like other works of hers that I’ve read, her shade of darkness is recognizable throughout this poetic story. Several lines and passages got highlighted as I read.
This was a fascinating read. One could really come to understand the feelings and mindset of “the princess” in this story and how many single women must feel as they work their way through this world and try to find meaningful and genuine relationships. Highly recommend this books especially to the young and the single - man or woman.
Having read a few other works by Sara so far, her writing strongly captivated me as a reader and held my close attention given her "true to life" and natural/relatable style; she evokes a real sense of depth you just want to get lost in - great escapism for any reader; it's all very in tune with self-discovery and a longing that may end up being short-lived. Her writing style elaborates so well on experience and the emptiness that can come with it - this book has articulated it so well. It is a profound read throughout with a strong presence felt between the lines. She brings about a real comfort despite the heartfelt heaviness of the theme - letting you in with it all being very relatable hence understandable. I find Sara knows what to say in a strong and sensual manner, delivering it poignantly across. This is the first poetic kind of work I've read by Sara which is expressed meaningfully throughout with a sense of direction that fluctuates with a misdirection in being at a loss along the way. Having enjoyed this book overall, it does have me hoping Sara will piece together more poetic works in the future.
