4 Stars for What’s in a Name (audiobook) by Imogen Markwell-Tweed read by Tim Todd. Produced by Bryant Street Shorts.
The author uses an imaginative idea to bring soulmates together. This book is three different short stories where couples find each other.

Needed a short read and this looked interesting (a world where ppl get tattoos of their soulmates on them and they have to go find em) the stories were short and sweet and make you think

The simplicity, sweetness and perfection of these short stories is simply impossible to deny.
Narratives this short are not usually my favorites but these won my heart.

As a top consumer of soulmate AU fanfiction, I was actually legally required to read this. Plus, Imogen Markwell Tweed’s commitment to healthy, happy relationships gives me soft feelings that whisper of goodness in the world and this deserves my undivided attention.

So did I love this? Absolutely! It’s three queer short stories (including one with a non-binary love interest *insert heart eyes here*) of soulmates finding each other and falling in love. This was one of those soulmate universes where they will usually have each other’s names on themselves, which you’d think was quite straightforward but Imogen will have us know that it is anything but.

Yes, we do get characters jaded by the whole soulmate thing falling in love despite that; and no, this doesn’t do anything innovative for what is a very structured trope, but the writing is pleasant and light and I absolutely had a good time.

Ranked like this mostly because it’s hard for me to read smut lol but I still try every now and then.

I’m always horrible when it comes to romance. But I figured I’d give it a try, since I really liked the concept of this LGBT+ dystopian (basically) read. It was definitely a cute concept, having your soulmate’s name appear on you in the form of a tattoo.

Reminded me of Matched, but more smut 🤣 which is still hard for me to get through. But it was nice to see all these stories change in just the short time and that they were happy endings.

Kind of a cute twist on the ol' "name of a soul mate tattood on your skin" trope.

What’s in a Name was quietly stunning.

Each of the three queer love stories unfolded with warmth, care, and just the right sprinkle of spice. Imogen writes with gentle clarity—like every word knows exactly where it belongs, and every character is lovingly seen. The stories felt soft without ever losing their strength. They lingered.

This book read like a love letter: to queer identity, to choosing your name, to being understood. Unexpectedly tender. Unapologetically queer. Absolutely beautiful.
