But when the bounty hunters become the hunted, the lines between right and wrong become blurred as they are forced to ally themselves with their enemies to survive. Join the bounty hunter guild as they fight off assassins and cyborgs in their search for the man who is hellbent on bringing war to the wastelands.
Join Havoc Joe Ballast, the gunfighter of the wastelands, on his latest adventure.

This is another exciting blaster filled fun read from Rachel Aukes. The characters are great and her writing is wonderfully expressive. There is going to be a lot going on with the next book and this book is the set up for the new one. Any Bounty Hunter book is a fun read and takes you into something akin to the old west type feel.
First off, I really love this entertaining series. It is all kinds of fun and surprises. I especially enjoy the banter between the main characters. Bounty Hunters Joe, Rex and Kit, along with former Sheriff Val Vane struggle to keep financially afloat, unaware that Zenith’s Supreme Commander Renzo has them in his crosshairs. There’s plenty of suspense and action in this character-driven tale, along with a big dose of heartache. Well worth reading!
All Joe "Havoc" Ballard did was make a promise to look after Nick Swinton's wife and son. Turns out promises are way harder to keep than Havoc expected. Joe reminds me a bit of Charlie Brown. He plans to kick the football, but some other kind of Lucy keeps taking it away from him at the last minute. In this part of the story, Zenith has become the primary bad guy, but they aren't the only ones. It's clear in this world government = bad - with one possible exception, but the Wilds aren't exactly nice to strangers.
Kit, Val, and Rex are all back along with Artie Law looking after Sara and the kids while Joe tries to do too many things at once - his normal bounty hunting job, finding and stopping Zenith, coordinating with his hacker friend, protecting his hacker friend, plus generally trying not to get shot. That last part seems to be Joe's major issue... he keeps getting shot.
Fun, fast read. Looking forward to the continued stories of Havoc and company!
This series is just full of so much fun and action that you can’t help but want to keep diving back into it.
Joe and his friends have once again gotten themselves in over the heads. They are wanted by just about every faction/government base team you can imagine and just keep racking up more. Yet they have the greatest luck one can imagine!
We got more information on Zenith and Renzo in general as well as a better look into how the wastelands actually work and operate. There was even some interesting takes on how certain weather phenomena’s happen and frankly I dig it, it was not something I was expecting. We also got to have our first glimpse of the Wilds and that was interesting but I do want more, so I’m looking forward to seeing where that goes.
The story at times did get a little bogged down with the constant reminders of what happened in previous books, this is something that I personally don’t like in books as it’s just unnecessary filler (unless it’s reminding me of some vital information), but I know there might be someone out there that enjoys it.
I also didn’t enjoy Sara and Artie in this at all, but honestly what happens with them was completely out of left field and honestly shocking, up until this point nothing like this has happened.
We also got more Scorpion and I am excited to see where her role leads in the upcoming books. And while it’s a minor side plot in the storyline i am liking the progressions of everyone’s relationships (some have the potential to be romantic but I don’t feel the story will go straight romance) but I definitely feel like the bonds and friendships are really cementing themselves in with Joe and his friends. Plus I really love all the banter. And once again Rex was a hoot with his absolute nonchalant attitude!
Of course the end leaves us being introduced to two new characters and I for one do not trust either one, I am suspicious about them both.
Also thanks for giving Kit a break, because you seriously picked on him in book 2, and he deserved the break this go around. So I didn’t have to worry as much about him, so my heart was safe!
Things are getting rough for Havoc and friends. Both the MRC and Zenith want them dead. It's just a matter of time. Still, it's business as usual for the bounty hunters until they detain someone who knows about a shake down that's going down in the Wastelands. This is another intense drama featuring our gallant hunters. Will they ever be able to have a moment's peace? Only time (and a few more books) will tell.
I only have one complaint . "About the Wastelands" came in at the end of this book. I actually wish this was the introduction to the series. Because it explained how the world in the Bounty series came about in the first place
This continuation of the bounty hunters’ manages to keep the pace and detail of the preceding episodes. The story is hanging together well and the characters are really starting to come alive.
Another great episode in the series and it just keeps getting better and the action and story keeps you going and very hard to put down. The characters continue to develop and look forward to where they go from here.
In this episode Joe and his team are going after the bloodthirsty Red Dead gang. Just when they think they have them caught they get ambushed. This is another action packed adventure. I have enjoyed the series and looking forward to the next book.
Yeppers, got caught by the characters, action and all the plots and twists of this super author. Lol..good thing she has other great writings and that there are other super authors to read to while away my time as I await more of this “ gotcha” series. Thanks.
Review: I love this series. Well, loved might be a better descriptor. What was at once gritty and oh so dystopia, morphed into Leave it to Beaver with the fecking Swintons.
So giving and loving in a violent dystopia, Sara "Hot Tits" Swinton invades the story line with her purity. Can you say barf? The richest guy in Fartown gets a boner and takes in Sara and her lovable precocious scamps....and their little dog too!!! So back and forthing we go throughout this novel, spending way too much time on nothing other than her swooning over someone that never did jack shjt for her while idly tossing Joe aside. Oh, but she so loves Joe and respects him...blah, blah. Actions speak louder, Lady. The little brats also toss Joe out with the trash in favor of a gang."Fuk you Joe, we found a better home".
The best thing that happened to this novel was Sara and Senior Douche getting bombed. It lit a fire under everyones ass. Too bad the brats were not with them as we get dragged along till the end. You are still going to suffer through the relentless backstory that each novel has infused into it but it fails to dominate.
Nick and company are great as ever. Let us hope that Val does not turn into a dopey love addled tramp.

That's it. I had enough. Even the kids were begging for someone to kill them. I don't particularly like the bounty hunters, but I loath the kids. I also found the Sara/Artie romance nausea inducing. And unfortunately there was a lot more of both of these things thanI can roll with.
I just don't care anymore. Not about what happens to Zenith or the MRC. Not about the new world order, not about any of the main characters. So this was the last stop for me. I can guess the conclusion from here.
No complaints! This is a really enjoyable series and this was a fun third book. I've grown to really like these characters and following along with their, often reluctant, save-the-day missions.
