Ich habe die Gansett Island Reihe sowie die Familie McCarthy und all ihre Freunde mittlerweile sehr in mein Herz geschlossen. Auch auf diesen mittlerweile 23. Band der Reihe habe ich mich wieder sehr gefreut. In diesem Band stoßen Dara und Oliver als die neuen Leuchtturmwärter zu unseren altbekannten Paarungen hinzu. Die Vergangenheit der beiden ist dabei wirklich sehr dramatisch, wie wir im Laufe des Buches erfahren.
Kommen wir hier auch direkt zu meiner Kritik an diesem Buch: mir war es alles etwas zu viel. Zu viele Paare und Sichtweisen und auch etwas zu viel Kitsch, das ist allerdings bekanntlich Geschmacksache. Allerdings fand ich es wirklich schade, dass hier nicht wie in den vorigen Bänden ein Pärchen im Vordergrund steht während die anderen als Nebencharaktere auftauchen. Es kam mir so vor als wären alle bloß Nebencharaktere in dieser Geschichte, daher hat mir ein wenig die emotionale Tiefe gefehlt. Vor allem bei dem Potenzial, welches die Geschichte definitiv hat.
Trotz dieser Kritik freue ich mich auf den nächsten Teil, weil ich gespannt bin um welches Paar es dann gehen wird und ich freue mich auch immer auf ein Wiedersehen mit unseren "alten" Pärchen. Daher war dieser Band ein nettes Buch für Zwischendurch um nochmal ein bisschen was von allen zu lesen und ein wenig Urlaubsfeeling zu tanken. Denn wo wünscht man sich bei diesem tristen Sommer sonst hin, wenn nicht nach Gansett Island?

300 pages of lather, rinse, repeat. 7 pregnancies, 4 engagements, 2 weddings. I’d have rather had a full book devoted to Oliver and Dara. Plenty have loved, I sadly didn’t and after more misses than hits in the recent books, this is where my visits to Gansett end.

Dieses neue Buch von Marie Force hat mich von Anfang bis Ende in seinen Bann gezogen. Es ist so schön, mal wieder von allen Einwohnern, die wir schon mal näher kennengelernt haben, zu lesen. So erfährt man was alles in der Zwischenzeit passiert ist und mit welchen Problemen sie sich herumschlagen müssen. Gansett Island Bücher rufen ein Heimatgefühl in mir hoch, dass ich mich schon auf jedes Buch freue. Wir sind mit diesem Buch schon bei Band 23 und ich kann trotzdem nicht genug davon bekommen. Außerdem zeigt uns Marie hier, welche Pärchen wir in Zukunft vielleicht nocht begleiten werden. Tolle Geschichte. Ich liebs mal wieder.

It’s wintertime and that festive time of the year – but we’re all hunkered down safe-distancing and all masked-up. No holiday parties this year. So I grabbed a ferry ride and headed to Gansett Island where it’s warm, sunny and . . . oh crap! The power has gone out all over the island. Doesn’t matter, Big Mac is rounding up the troops and the merrymaking begins! We’ll celebrate and toast to the February 2021 arrival of Marie Force’s latest addition to this series and the fun-loving and wonderful people who make Gansett Island a special destination – even with the power outage!
This one is a powerhouse of delights, sizzle, spice and specialties and lots of OOHS and AHHS that you won’t want to miss!

5 Star Review of Blackout After Dark (Gansett Island #23) by Marie Force

This was a sweet, funny and wonderful book of love. It gave us a chance to catch up with all the couples we have come to love so much on Gansett Island. It is always great to read a new story about Gansett Island, it’s like coming home to your family as you get to catch up with what is going on in all their lives.
This book as with others in the series was an extremely well written, sweet, sexy and romantic book. A fantastic addition to the series and the narration by Stella Hunter added to my listening pleasure. Although, having said that I do think that a male narrator for the men would really have enhanced the story, but then that is just my opinion.

A wonderful book to catch up with all our Gansett family
I couldn't wait for the release of this book. It was so great to visit with each family and to meet new characters. To truly get the impact of this book you need to jump on the boat and read all the books in this series. Once you read the first one Maid a Love you will fall in love with Mac and Maddie as well as everyone else and I am positive you will read all of the other 22 books and fall in love with Gansett like the rest of us have. Cheers Marie, so looking forward to Cooper and Girl's story.

I highly recommend Marie Force’s Blackout After Dark! I was engaged in this character driven novel set on Gansett Island from start to finish.
Marie Force is a fabulous story teller. I adore the Gansett Island series because each one of the characters brings something unique to the island community and their stories are important threads in this ongoing series. I enjoyed catching up with my favorite friends Mac and Maddie, Luke and Sydney, Abby and Adam and Dan and Kara…and of course Big Mac!—and being introduced to Dara, Oliver, Cooper, Jack and Piper.
I really love that the novel was a full cast book and that the storylines were told from each characters point of view. I adored the laugh out loud banter between the McCarthy brothers: Mac, Adam, Evan and Grant, the heartfelt conversations between Charlie and Stephanie and checking in with Paul and Alex Martinez and their family. Big Mac McCarthy is the heart and soul of this series; his dream of raising his family and building his business has come true. Loved that Big Mac cares for his community and continues to dream big by working on renovation projects with his son Mac.
Marie Force weaves the important moments -- passion, conflict and poignant conversations-into a fabulous cohesive book. She blends the themes of romance, forgiveness and hope with laughter and love in each chapter. I loved meeting the new characters and was drawn into Dara and Oliver’s story and I can’t wait to read their journey. There are lots of surprises in each characters storylines and the conclusion was perfect—yes I cried---I was surprised and loved every word!

No real story here... more of a touch base with everyone. Everyone is hot and wants a generator... Everyone is pregnant... someone delivers their baby (ies)... there is a wedding... the usual Gansett recipe, a little tired, but if it ain't broke don't fix it! I did find it odd however that all three dogs mentioned in the book had names that started with B (Brutus, Burpy and Bubba I think) but there may have been one named Maisy too so not sure what is going on there... I would really love it if Marie could include a family tree... not just a list of who belongs with whom, but a visual representation, bc it will make it easier for people like me to make sense of it if I know that (for example) Kevin McCarthy has 2 sons, Finn and Riley...and I can see it visually. Just a thought. Looking forward to the next book, but I will probably skip ones like this, as I have done in the past...

Blackout After Dark returns readers to Gansett Island and catches up with all the residents you know and love. As well as introducing some new characters to the series, including new lighthouse keepers Oliver and Dara, who are on the island for a new start after the devastating loss of their three-year-old son Lewis.
And with proposals, babies galore, announcements, a wedding, and plenty of heat, emotion and joy this was a brilliant addition to the series, and I can't wait for what comes next.

Das Cover des Buches, hat sofort meine Aufmerksamkeit auf sich gezogen. Und es passt ganz hervorragend zum Inhalt.
Zurück auf Gansett Island, trifft man alte und neue Bekannte. Ich muss gestehen, dass ich nicht alle Teile kenne und Anfangs einige Schwierigkeiten hatte mir die Namen und familiären Verbindungen zu merken.
Hier wäre ein Stammbaum am Anfang oder Ende des Buches wirklich hilfreich gewesen.
Nachdem ich mich im Internet auf die Suche nach eben diesem gemacht habe, konnte ich alles viel besser nachvollziehen und verbinden.
Es ist nämlich nicht zu verachten, dass die Autorin mehr als vierzig Erzählperspektiven in dieser Geschichte verpackt hat.
Ich fühlte mich immer wieder wie in einer Daily Soap. Durch kurze Aufklärung von Geschehnissen aus der Vergangenheit, wird dieser Eindruck noch Verstärkt.
Bei mir führte es dazu, dass ich am liebsten sofort bei Teil eins der Reihe angefangen hätte. Was bei 23 Büchern eine "kleine" Aufgabe ist.
Nicht desto trotz, hat Marie Force es geschafft, mich hervorragend zu unterhalten. Es ist ordentlich was los und es gibt ziemlich viele Schwangere in der Geschichte.
Ganz realistisch ist die Story natürlich nicht, dafür haben sich irgendwie alle ein wenig zu sehr lieb. Alle Pärchen sind glücklich, verliebt und haben den tollsten Sex.
Trotzdem hat mir das Buch sehr gut gefallen. Ich würde es sogar zum bisher besten aus der Reihe zählen (Von den 5 die ich gelesen habe).
Wer die Reihe Band für Band verfolgt hat, wird sicherlich etwas schneller alle Verbindungen knüpfen und zuordnen können.

What a great way to catch up on all the Gansett characters!
With Blackout After Dark (book 23 of the Gansett Island series), Marie brings us up to date on the lives of EVERY past character. We also are introduced to several new characters. There are a lot of characters in this series so this is an impressive accomplishment. I believe she said there were more than 40 points of view in this forty-five-chapter book along with A Gansett Island Short Story to complete the update.
It is a fantastic return to Gansett Island with the beloved, always entertaining and hilarious McCarthy family and their amazing friends. All the story lines are woven seamlessly into the novel, with gentle reminders of their backstory. There’s a baby boom of epic proportions, engagements, weddings, joys, heartbreaks, and of course steamy chemistry between couples. Many characters end up on the island facing some difficult time in the lives and have found peace there. Gansett Island is great for a reset, and it’s a wonderful series to read to also get away and reset your own life. That’s what this series is known for. This series has a special place in my heart, as well as Block Island, which is the island that the series is based off of. I’ve visited twice so far and am eager to return.
As always Marie does not disappoint when she brings us back to the island. Brilliantly done!

We return to Gansett Island with a bang. Ms. Force was able to write in all of her couples in the series in this one book. The island lost its power that lasted more than one day. As Ms. Force stated the book had over forty characters point of view. It is always a pleasure to return to this fictional town where the McCarthy family and their friends come together with many an emotional drama, helping each other where the needs are and being helpful to each other in their small community. We get to catch up with the first couple who started it all in this series Mac and Maddie they are currently having twins which will make them up to five babies. Ms. Force introduce us to her first black couple in this series the Watkins Dara and Oliver. They are the first couple to be now be in charge of the lighthouse . They too have something in common with Jenny ,they lost their son to a very terrible accident. As stated we catch up with all the McCarthy siblings their cousins and we also meet Jared other brother Cooper and a few more new characters. I could never emphasis enough when reading this series there is a permanent smile on my face . This series always leave me with positive feels and vibes.

Wow, Wow, Wow! I wish I could give this book 1,000 stars or more because Marie did an AMAZING job! What a joy this book was to read and to allow us to return to Gansett Island and catch up on all of the couples. Prior to this new book coming out, I went back and re-read all of the 22 books in the series just because I wanted everyone fresh in my mind. Even if I wouldn't have done that, I would have been able to thoroughly enjoy this book though because Marie did such a great job catching us up on everything and tying it all together. I loved getting all of the news on our favorite couples and all of the surprises that we got there, the babies, the engagements and so much more! She introduced us to some new exciting characters & new storylines that I can't wait to read. I laughed, I cried (a lot), I was rejoicing and clapping and shouting! Marie has still got it going on with book 23 in this series and I can't wait for book 24!
If there is one author you have to read, it's totally Marie Force! All of our series are amazing but Gansett is my first love just because Maid for Love with Mac & Maddie is how I found Marie. I'm so glad I did all of those many years ago! Keep up the great work Marie!

Wonderful heartwarming head spinning cozy. Just perfect in our imperfect world. Marie has created the most wonderful world of gansett island. This island is based on our block island. . This crazy challenge of Marie was to put all of the characters into this story we are talking over 100 people! And she does it flawlessly. After you read this book ,you will feel warm with love . You will want to hop on the ferry and rush over to meet everyone. You will absolutely want to be a part of this magical world on gansett is I read this book the day it came out ,I couldn’t put it down. It would most definitely help if you have read the other books in the series. But hey, if you have not when will there ever be a better time. Marie force is a treasure she makes it her goal to fill our lives with happy ever afters so this is why she is loved by so many people around the world. I guess you could say that Gansett is like a fantasy island, where broken souls find healing and love, and perhaps to some that's just too schmaltzy. But that's a big part of what makes this series so enjoyable for me, along with its wonderful family of characters of course. Even though many of these characters and their relationships seem almost too perfect at times, I don't find that to be a negative because I know I'm going to feel good after reading any book in this series, and Blackout After Dark is certainly no exception.
This is a great addition to this series because we get to catch up with the entire cast of characters to see what's going on with all of them. It's a great read for fans of this series and a wonderful complement to all the previous books.
There are so many lovely, heartfelt moments in this book, but Quinn's and Mallory's wedding is high on my list of favorites. So beautiful it brought tears to my eyes. Of course that's not the only time I could have used a tissue.
If you're a Gansett Island fan, this is definitely a must read. 💘🔥💘

Although I usually reread a series before beginning a new addition, with Blackout After Dark being #21 in the Gansett Island series I opted to dive right in. Not to worry, Marie gave just enough insight to each character to refresh any memories that needed it in this all cast reunion. If you haven't read the series you may find all the characters and their updates a tad overwhelming. Do yourself a favor and start at the beginning. It's so worth it. In BAD we welcome some new lighthouse keepers to the Island and catch up with all the old friends we've come to know and love. This story was like wrapping yourself in a warm blaket with a cup of tea and catching up with old friends. The next installment, Temptation After Dark will tell Gigi and Cooper's story. Can't wait.

Oh how I loved this book! ❤❤❤❤❤
I guess you can tell I loved this book. LoL 😝 In it, you get to check in with all the people you love on Gansett Island! I mean who wouldn't love that!!! We also get to meet a wonderful new couple, who are the new Lighthouse keepers. Like the others before them, they have a heartbreaking story that brought Oliver and Dara to the island. Linda and Big Mac take them under their wings, of course. You have to read this book! There is so many new things to learn about the family, so many things happen! You can't miss reading this book! I don't want to give any spoilers, so I won't, but this is the best book! I highly recommend it! You will love it!!!

Marie's Gansett series is now 21 books and a few novellas/short stories long and it was so amazing to catch up with all of the fantastic couples we have watched/read their happily ever afters. If you wonder, hey "what it is going on with Adam/Abby, Daisy/David, etc., you will find the answers in this book. You will laugh and cry and meet new people who you can't wait to read their stories. You will not be disappointed with this book that covers all couples from Mac/Maddie to Mason/Jordan. If you are new to the series and this is your first taste, you will want to read how each couple comes to be by reading their individual stories.

This quote perfectly summarizes all that is wonderful about this series. It was tremendous to return to Gansett and catch up with the beloved McCarthy's and their amazing family. This book brought me to tears both of joy and sympathy. As usual, Ms. Force gives such life to her characters that the reader becomes invested in their lives. There are so many characters in this world, yet the reader is seamlessly brought from family to family to learn what has changed since the last book. The surprise extra at the end was icing on the cake. Read this or the whole series - it does not disappoint.

Wow, this book had it all, surprises, laughter, and tears. Plus we got caught up with all of our favorite couples and were introduced to a new one. There were new characters and characters from Ms. Force's Quantum series. Who else could do justice to Grant's screenplay but the Quantum crew! So much happened in the book it was like sitting and reading the Gansett Gazette on steroids! It was so much fun to catch up with everyone especially Lizzie and Jared and their story. Next up is Cooper and Gigi and well there is already a story to tell there as Ms. Force nicely set that story up. I can't wait to see what comes next on this busy island.

Talk about a book hangover. Blackout after Dark has it all. Its 22 stories all in one. You can't help but fall in love with all these fantabulous couples at this magical place that is Gansett Island. Laugh out loud moments as usual with the McCarthy men. Big surprises, engagements, weddings, babies, island drama, a whole lot of new characters, who I can't wait to read more about. There are tender moments too that will touch your heart, I laughed, I cried ( a lot). I rejoiced and jumped for joy. A highly entertaining read that will have you hooked from page one to the very end. Romance at its best.

Loved Loved it!
I loved catching up with everyone in Gansett as well as meeting some new people. The amount of views kept this story hopping. I can't wait to see all the new babies in the story lines. It was great seeing Abby get what she wanted (and then some). The part that hit me the most was Marion "waking". My mother suffers from Alzheimer's and we had a small window once of her being her old self. For us it was only maybe an hour but it was a magical hour. I was actually having a conversation with her. I remember it all the time. Mom is still with me, but further into the disease where she sometimes knows me. I look forward to the next Gansett....soon?

Sweet, sexy, poignant and bursting with love
What a wonderful trip back to Gansett Island. It really felt like I was there on vacation and catching up with old friends, finding out what they'd been up to while I was away. And boy was there lots to catch up on! The baby boom is in full swing and heading into extra innings, for sure. And the island's magic is getting a workout, healing some old friends and starting the job on some new friends, as well. There were so many feels in this book, so very much love coming to life inside the pages. I definitely can't wait to see what else is in store for me on my next visit!

Best one yet!
Holy cow. This was the best book yet. I don’t know how Marie did it but I laughed and cried and I was in awe of the many different stories being told simultaneously.
I was hooked from the moment I started Maid to Love. This world of Gansett Island is amazing as are the people who live on it.
The best part is people keep coming to the island and we keep getting their stories.
There are so many weddings and babies coming up the next few books will be full of them.
Thank you Marie for giving us this amazing world to live in. Thank you for sharing with us the fabulous stories in your head screaming to be written.

What a great way to catch up on your favorite Gansett character! As always Marie does not disappoint when she brings us back to the island.
Sarah and Charlie are having a housewarming party, but first we get a peek into the lives of our favorite characters as they announce pregnancies, attend movie premieres and return to the island.
