Razing Hell #3

Hell Hath No Fury

Rate this book
Easy is the descent into Hell.
Especially when you embrace the darkness.
And it embraces you back.

Revenge is so close I can almost taste it.
Belial has brought me everything I wanted and more- he served me vengeance on a silver platter, along with his heart.
But my own faults have caused a rift between myself, Lucifer, and Azazel. If I want to destroy Satan and live happily ever after in Hell, hard choices must be made.
And when the Dragon himself takes something I hold dear, the choice is final: I must wield the Sword of Light once more, even at the risk of being burned alive.
I have no fear.
After all, Hell hath no fury like an angel scorned.

Hell Hath No Fury is the third book in a steamy, enemies-to-lovers reverse harem romance for readers 18 and over, with a happily ever after.

Loved this series until now

So this book is still good plot wise, and I really liked this series...BUT (major plot point spoiler below)....

I’m sad that this happened and now I’m going to nurse my book hangover and regret with some wine.

What an ending that was, unlike the last few books things did not go smoothly and Satan has one-upped them all. Worse yet he seems to have activated the soul bond between him and Lucifer, turning him against them. I still cannot believe he almost killed Melsande. Once again so much happens in the book and it was great start to end. The smooth upbeat pacing continues on and finally things seem to be smoothed over relationship wise between them all. Her men go a little nuts learning she's pregnant but damn if Belial, the King of Wrath isn't overjoyed and turns into a sweetheart. I still love that he likes and accepts her darkside. Pregnant or not, he doesn't really want her to change, besides her being a badass is what I think he loves about her most. Vyra continues to be a favorite of mine and I am gutted that she's been taken by Satan, I swear if he hurts her or tarnishes her innocence I will crawl into the book myself and cut his head/dick off. We learn Vyra is a virgin which for a succubus is unheard of but just adds to her character and why she's so special and needs protecting. Aside from all that there's so many things I'm reeling from like Lucifer breaking the sword of Light, the only sure fire way to kill Satan, at least that we know of until now. What now??!?!? Plus Satan, Lucifer and Vyra went through a portal so Lord only knows where they went or how everyone will track them down. It's not clear if they left hell altogether but if they did, that brings its own can of worms. Maybe I should rephrase since the actual Lord AKA GOD was killed by Gabriel way back when in the apocalypse. I was a bit surprised Tascius was the one to kill him more because I thought it would be Melsande. After learning she was brought back by Gabriel to serve God, she now finds out God was probably already dead at the time and all her cruel training at Gabriel's hands was for him and his cronies. Nothing was done for Good so Melsande does spend some time reflecting on everything. Luckily her easy acceptance and feeling of belonging in hell gets her through. I was under the impression the next book was the last but that appears to not be the case. The tension is already killing me so how I will make it until February to finish this series off I do not know, I am not above begging lol.

DNF @ 31%

I had a feeling this would happen…
Because the relationships are such a HUGE focus in RH books, it just doesn’t do it for me when they’re all happy, dandy, and group fucking by book 3 of 5.
We got a bit of angst with Belial but he came running back to her in like 2 sentences and then at the end of book 2, when Lucifer and Azazel were upset with Mel but just forgive and forget everything by not even half way into book 3… it’s just not giving me anything to grasp onto for dear life you know?

Idk the book is not keeping me interested at this point, even with the pregnancy announcement I can’t be bothered to continue with this book or the other two.
This series had a fuck ton of potential and could have been phenomenal with a bit of slow burn between Mel and some of the guys and some space between smut scenes… alas, my intrigue has come to its end but I do look forward to seeing what other books Cate has written, as the writing itself is quite well done.

Fuck that cliffhanger, thank you very much.
I’ll be going on to the next book right this instance.

Just know that this book was just as good as the first two if not better.

And WOW, the plot thickens.
This series is getting better and better with each book.
The characters keep growing in their true selves and it's a sight.
I'm going to read the next one right away, I want the story fresh in my mind.

I downloaded this book via Kindle Unlimited.

This book continues on straight where the last book left off with Gabriel's announcement that he is Tascious's father, which has shocked the gang, though there were hints of it all along. I feel that this book had a bit of a weirder flow than the previous books in the series, time seemed to jump rather than flow and I found it getting a little cliche, a little early in the story. For example, our main character Overall though, this wasn't my favourite so far in the series, with most of the best action sequences happening in the last couple of pages, the last two chapters maybe. I did however like the growth we saw in the boys in this book, particularly Azazel. But I might also be a bit soft towards Azazel.

The battle rages in Hell

In this third chapter of Razing Hell, the battle to overthrow Satan begins. Melisande finds herself
facing consequences she didn't dream of. One is captured, one is be spelled, and an unexpected possible ally is discovered. Great continuation of the story.

No star rating because I DNF

So the first 1.5 books of this series were great! I started feeling like it was dragging a bit towards the end of book 2 and the big reveal of Gabriel being Tascius's father was not at all surprising to me. I started feeling like this story would have benefitted from being a trilogy rather than 5 books but that is definitely personal opinion.

Where the story lost me was halfway through this one when my least favorite trope ever came in to play.

I know lots of people love this trope but I just... don't. There's absolutely nothing wrong with it, it just is not for me. So I DNF.

In addition, I was a bit disappointed by Lucifer's character. He came across as rather bland in this series which is too bad because I usually love that character in other stories whether he's a villain or not.

The pregnancy trope...I mean...ugh
I knew as soon as she started getting queasy and lightheaded where this was going and definitely hoped it wasn't true. I loved the series up until now, but this has to be my least favorite trope. I definitely agree with others who said it becomes predicable, constant hovering, protect her this, stay on the side lines that. It tones down the plot and it's the ultimate plot block (instead of cockblock - get it?) I ended up pushing through the book and it did get better. I'm not going to DNF this because of that, however it definitely left a sour taste in my mouth.

I really had a hard time finishing this book. I felt the story sort of stalled and when the "big reveal" happened I really was interested in that development. I will probably try to finish it at a later time.

🌟Brief Summary:
This is a review for the entire series.
This will have mild spoilers but I’ll try to stick to safety and opinions.

‼️This was a solid 4 star series until book 5 and it all went to shit. (See spoilers below)
Honestly I really have this 2.5 stars ⭐️ but rounded up cause it was safe and had no OW.

❣️Things I Liked/Loved❣️
-❤️I LOVED THE HAREM- they were not OTT but they were a well balanced and had lots of swoon moments.
-Overall good 🌎 world building
-Depth of character and SOME character growth.
-I liked the Gladiator vibe
-I love me a FMC that has fight to her…how ever juvenile🙄

Things I Did 💔 Not Like
-‼️I DO NOT LIKE THE VERY CLOSE BUT TWISTED BIBLICAL STORY. I like fantasy and even Angel/demons PNR but this was pushing my limits. If it wasn’t written by Cate I would have DNF and maybe still should have.

-‼️The FMC was the most Juvenile FMC. She thought telling Someone to “fuck off” was the answer to EVERYTHING.

-‼️The constant separation from one or more of her harem throughout the series. My Pet peeve!

-‼️2 different men in her harem where being controlled by another entity during the series. I hate this esp when the guy doesn’t really have remorse for what he didn’t to the h during that time. It’s so dumb I hate this type of storyline. At the very least that control wasn’t sexual so they stayed faithful. That’s not always the case in these situations so I appreciate that.

-⚠️now for a spoiler of book 5⚠️
Why oh why🤦🏼‍♀️
This is where the story took a serious plummet. Book 5 was like reading a totally diff story. INTRODUCING A NEW AND MORE POWERFUL ENEMY IN THE LAST BOOK IS A NO GO!!!!!!!
This enemy wasn’t introduced took the very end of book 4. Till then she had never been talked about. Then we had to endure almost a whole book of our FMC being tortured. Then her men are yet again in and out of the story. This was unpleasant and frustrating to read. What was the point of her being pregnant? She stupidly goaded the bad guy to the pony of torture but all was ok cause she protected her baby w magic 🙄 she didn’t even allow herself to think of the baby as a priority. This book dive bombed this series for me. Then she ends up as a queen and goddess!? It just took weird turns and I WAS NOT HERE FOR IT. Ugh it’s so dumb.
The only thing worth reading was the epilogue.

🦹🏻‍♂️ Hero: RH
🪽Lucifer- Prince of Hell, Fallen Angel, son of Satan

🦁Beliel- Prince of Wrath, Prince of the Seventh Circle

🐦‍⬛Azezel- Death God, Lord of the Watchers and the Grigori.

☠️Tascius - Nephilim turned Archangel

🦋 Heroine:
Melisande- Fallen Angel 🪽
Prideful, arrogant, self righteous, severely juvenile, extremely entitled,
makes lots of really stupid decisions and AWLAYS says the wrong thing……
😳So yeah 🤷🏼‍♀️ I didn’t love her- she didn’t have any real character growth till book 5 and even then she wasn’t likable.

💭 POV:
Multiple first person you get 1POV from each guy per book. Would have liked more from the guys.

🔥 Burn Rate:
Medium- first sexy times in book 1 is at 50% and is pretty steady throughout the series

😡/😍 Angst level:
Medium-low

❤️‍🔥 Sexy times & Descriptive sex: yes 🔥🔥🔥🔥 there are some good spicy sexy times

🌓 Push/Pull:
Some mild push pull with some of her men but nothing lasts to long.
Book 2 her and Beliel are on the outs it’s wrapped up by the end.

☠️ OW/OM Drama:
None

🤮 OW/OM Sex / Fluid or DNA Exchange:
None

🤬 Cheating:
None

👰🏼‍♀️ Virgins:
h is a V
None of her harem are V

⛈️Separation/ 3rd Act Breakup:
Mostly No -but throughout there are different times of separation with some of her mates.

Safety⚠️Triggers🗡️:
Torture
Bloody fighting

🌈Epilogue:
Yes

🥂HEA:
Yes

My opinion is just that… MY OPINION.
I know we all get passionate about our favorite reads and characters but we should respect each opinions a thoughts. ~Thank you

Wow, okay. I am now entrenched in this series and I hope when this arch is over, Cate Corvin will start a new reverse harem story (Vyra, yes thank you please!) so I can stay in Hell forever LOL Since I'm a greedy bish, I would love to have HEA for the Princes too. Maybe not so much on Greed though and not sure how you're gonna circumvent around Sloth forever snoring away (although I have to say I find him endearing LOL)

The end of this book is a huge cliffhanger and no, you cannot just jumped to Book 3 without reading 1 and 2. This is not a standalone. Now on to Book 4!

Woah ...this one already start with action !! Poor Tascius he was just so happy and then ... ok I won’t say muahahaha . Belial is really a catch and now that he is explaining himself? Ok now I understand his motives and all the “I didn’t really wanted you just as a slave” thing , Lucifer and Azazel are still pissed , but makes sense too ... because damn they were making that plans for a while and she just pah ! F*cked everything ...in a good way obviously because a “ sword is just a sword, and a feather is more than a feather”.

Well, well ,well ...the relationship of Mel and her mans are finally getting in equilibrium, thank goddess hahaha . But now I think she is ...you know when you f*ck a lot without condon ? Well I’ll let you guys guess hahaha . Ok maybe not everything is flowers ...yeah I’m saying we have problems in paradise, I think Lucifer is a “little”jealous of how much Tascius is getting powerful again now that he has his wings back, Azazel is locking himself again ...the ones that aren’t giving our girl problems are our sweet boy Tascius and the murderous romantic Belial hahaha .

Damn...Satan is ...just so motherf*cker powerful, and he is big ...like really, really BIG , and the more cool thing is that he is a dragon !! Damn I love dragons ...but he is evil incarnate and a really creep dragon , so ...he is a absolutely weird thing . Poor Lucifer and his abusive relationship with his father Satan .

“I should go to Blackchapel and find Azazel,” I said against Lucifer’s shoulder. “Prevent him from getting high on mushrooms and trading his eyeballs for a new Sword.”

For goddess sake hahaha that made me laugh soooo f*cking hard .

“What if I’m dying?” I whispered up to Belial, sudden anxiety squeezing my chest like a vise. “I’m not ready to die. I have so many people I still have to kill.”

Damn me to Hell if I don’t like how our girl is bloodthirsty hahaha .ok I’m a little disappointed...with something that happened and I won’t say what because that could be a spoiler and well I particularly hate spoilers...yeah I know I sometimes let spoilers spill but I won’t let this one . I’m disappointed too as Belail is talking about it ...like the others don’t exist ...well I’m getting petty angry to say the truth, and Mel aren’t telling him to f*ck off and stop being like this . Oh my God ...now Everything makes sense ...why humanity fell and why the archangels are crazy sh*t .

Damn I love how Hell Circles are , I’m still having trouble to imagine it’s magnificent magnitude but I love how the things are being described in the book , the Princes ? Soooo cool and I’m crushing in Leviathan hahaha . Oh sweet gentle Tascius ....my heart is broken for him , I can almost feel his pain and hollowness. Damn Azazel is so powerful and wise ...the guys knows everything!! And I find it deeply intriguing And sometimes Azazel’s magic looks a little like the one from Doctor Stange hahaha with the hand thing and all ...extremely cool .

Now I understood why the Princes never congregated, and why they’d all warned me about them. Like Belial, every Prince was the epitome of his Circle. Having them packed into one small place was going to be its own kind of Hell.

OMG the Princes ? Hahaha Abbadon ? Damn he is like me when I have classes early in the morning and Asmodeus ? He is Sooo whore I already like him , what I couldn’t give to have this kind of confidence. I’m serious hahaha the Princes are soooo funny together , all the bickering and insults ? Damn I’m laughing so hard .

Finally, the Princes stopped yelling at each other about everything from unfair taxes to dick size to how cavernous their mother’s vaginas were and settled down.

See ? I’m almost dying from laughing so hard hahahaha. Oh goddess but the thing that got me more astonished in this book ever is that Vyra ...a succubus, a lust demon is a virgin ....damn it , this really took me by surprise . , ok guys relax in the spoiler is just the motive I took a star from this book ....this thing really pissed me off .

Damn me !! What a epic fight !! That battle in the end ? Dammit !! That was a masterpiece!! The Princes , the demons , Santan himself OMG !! For the love of God these cliffhangers one day will be my downfall...I’m seriously damn it !! But I’m happy because we have a new character and ...I’ll just say he is my favorite one in all the archangels , normally I only like the evil ones and all ...you know my slight character deviation hahaha but him ? He is the more badass motherf*cker heaven has to offer , I even have a little statue of him between my dragons .

“Hell Hath No Fury,” the third book in Cate Corvin’s tantalizing and darkly compelling series, raises the stakes even higher, delivering a captivating blend of intense action, scorching romance, and emotional depth. This installment sees our fallen angel heroine continue her relentless quest for vengeance, as she confronts new enemies, grapples with deep-seated betrayals, and fights to claim her place in Hell’s brutal hierarchy.

The title “Hell Hath No Fury” is fitting, as the story revolves around the heroine’s burning rage and her refusal to be a pawn in the machinations of Heaven or Hell. Her transformation from a betrayed angel into a formidable force in the underworld is one of the most rewarding aspects of the series, and this book showcases her at her most ruthless yet. She is no longer just seeking revenge against the archangels who cast her out—she’s fighting to build her own power base in Hell, reclaim her autonomy, and exact justice on those who have wronged her. This fierce determination makes her a powerful and magnetic protagonist, driving the story forward with relentless momentum.

Corvin continues to excel in developing the complex relationships between the heroine and her four love interests. By this third book, the dynamics have deepened significantly, moving beyond mere lust and desire to encompass loyalty, trust, and even love—albeit tinged with darkness and uncertainty. The Nephilim, still haunted by his past, finds himself opening up in unexpected ways, revealing vulnerabilities that make him an even more compelling character. The demon of hunger, who initially appeared as a one-dimensional figure of desire, is given more depth as his own motivations and fears are explored. The heir to Satan’s throne faces political threats that put him at odds with the heroine’s ambitions, adding an extra layer of tension to their steamy interactions. Finally, the prince who bound his soul to hers becomes an enigmatic figure whose true intentions remain tantalizingly unclear. Their complex, intertwined relationships create an intense atmosphere filled with emotional highs and lows, making each interaction fraught with both passion and potential betrayal.

The plot of “Hell Hath No Fury” is fast-paced and action-packed, with new challenges and unexpected twists at every turn. The heroine finds herself navigating the treacherous waters of Hell’s politics, as various factions vie for control and power. Corvin does a commendable job of expanding on the world-building in this installment, giving readers a richer understanding of Hell’s intricate social and political structures. The different circles of Hell, each with its own unique set of rules and players, are vividly brought to life, adding a sense of depth and immersion that was only hinted at in previous books. This expanded lore not only enriches the setting but also raises the stakes for the heroine, as she must navigate not just physical battles but also complex political intrigue.

One of the standout features of this book is its exploration of themes of power, control, and agency. The heroine’s struggle to assert her will in a world designed to strip her of it is both compelling and empowering. She refuses to be manipulated by either her enemies or her lovers, fighting fiercely to carve out her own destiny. This theme of reclaiming power resonates throughout the book, adding an emotional weight to the action and romance.

The steamy scenes in “Hell Hath No Fury” are as intense and well-crafted as ever. Corvin does not shy away from exploring the darker sides of desire, and the chemistry between the heroine and her men crackles with tension. However, what sets these scenes apart is their emotional complexity. By this point in the series, the physical connection is underscored by genuine emotional bonds, making the romantic encounters more impactful and satisfying.

Despite its many strengths, the book is not without its minor flaws. The fast pacing, while exhilarating, can sometimes feel a bit too rushed, especially during key moments of character development or important plot revelations. There are scenes where a bit more time spent on the emotional fallout or the political consequences of certain actions would have added depth to the narrative. Additionally, the number of subplots and new characters introduced can occasionally feel overwhelming, leaving some threads feeling less resolved than others.

Overall, “Hell Hath No Fury” is a thrilling continuation of the series that does not disappoint. Cate Corvin has crafted a story that masterfully balances action, romance, and character development, creating an addictive blend that keeps readers on the edge of their seats. The heroine’s journey is far from over, and with the cliffhanger ending, fans will undoubtedly be eager for the next installment. This book is a must-read for fans of dark fantasy and reverse harem romance, offering a captivating blend of passion, intrigue, and power struggles.

For those who have followed the series from the beginning, “Hell Hath No Fury” delivers on its promise of high-stakes drama and sizzling romance, cementing its place as a standout in the genre. It’s a fiery, emotional rollercoaster that will leave readers eagerly anticipating what lies ahead in the next chapter of this dark and seductive saga.

A Bit of a Dud

*****Spoilers*****

I was a little disappointed in this book. It wasn't as exciting as the others. The relationships Melisande has with the guys are fully established at this point but the passion and build-up is missing so the intimate and emotional encounters feel rushed and are more described than felt so are disconnected and don't feel real. Azazel, the dark one is so appealing in this book, I love his shadows and stars but again the emotions are dull. Tascius doesn't get much but rage and revenge, Belial is fun, and Lucian is more intense. With multiple men to satisfy, it's always kind of tricky to give them equal time so I'll concede that there may be some difficulty for the writer.

Belial and Melisande are having a baby. He's pumped and the other guys are understandably disappointed though they don't let it show too much when they find out who the father will be. Melisande is stunned as she hadn't considered being a mother and isn't exactly bursting with joy but that's realistic, I thought. Even though she's just learned of her pregnancy, Melisande isn't sitting on the sidelines. I agree with her desire to do some stuff but I also think she should take into consideration the life she's growing before taking reckless risks.

Gabriel was dispatched much more quickly and suddenly than I expected considering how the book began. It was a lot less angsty than what I expected so was a little let down. That Tascius killed Gabriel in a fit of rage after thinking Gabriel was trying to hurt Melisande then turned on her afterward after he lost himself to his rage was just sighs. It just wasn't and didn't feel realistic from so slight a thing, especially with Gabriel being held in unbreakable chains.

The planning for fighting against Satan was more hurried than I expected but Vyra capture expedited the assault. Lucian is taken over by Satan and turns on everyone against his will. What I don't understand is how Satan left his pit when I thought I read somewhere in the story that he couldn't physically leave his prison. Maybe I lost an explanation at some point that would have covered it and can't remember.

The biggest revelations to come out of this book is that some of the Archangels conspired to kill God, and Michael being discovered after being entombed in a sarcophagus in Satan's lair.

Here's hoping the next book is better.

This book has a lot of twists but a ton of action in it as well, so I was intrigued to say the least. I will say some transitions and plot progress was a tad jumbled so that is kinda took me out of the story on a couple occasions. That and some audio discrepancies made me downgrade it to 4 stars. Still enjoyed it but wasn't at 100% in terms of all the potential it had.

Now without spoiling anything in the story, there is a lot of tension between Mel and some of her harem because of decisions she made in book 2. We get to learn more about a certain archangel, someone is stolen from Mel and she has to rally everyone to help rescue them, and we get to meet the Princes of Hell which I think was one of my favorite parts. Mel and her crew are trying to coordinate the Princes into overtaking Satan once and for all. We get to meet all the different personalities and see some battle, which was fun. We are thrown a plot twist in book 3 that I wasn't expecting so soon, but it helped I think with the plot progression. I just wish Mel wasn't treated so differently after that, but it kinda comes with the territory. I was shocked by the ending on this one, with a betrayal (not his fault) and the end result of the battle with Satan. I couldn't wait to listen to book 4 to figure out what was going on with the new character haha. Also I liked the developments with Vera. She was learning to be more herself (I loved her snark so much) and her dealing with a new side character from book 2 was funny as well. I wonder if she will get her own book or not. I could see her getting a harem maybe in the future haha. One could hope!

In terms of the narration, I think the biggest issue I had was sometimes Lucifer was British and sometimes he wasn't. When Lia was narrating he did not, but when Alexander was talking, he miraculously did. I wish the audio team/proofer would have picked one and had the other narrator be consistent. I also think there was some errors that could have been caught (pronunciation wise), which is why I would only give the narration 4/5 stars.

Overall book 3 was good, had a lot of potential to be amazing but fell short in a couple places. I think some scenes in this one were my favorite so far. I definitely would still recommend this series, on to book 4 ❤️

When I found out that this series is being lengthened by 2 more books, I couldn't be happier. This series has had me hooked since book one, and I don't know what kind of adventure that Corvin will take us on next, especially with the major life change that will affect Melisande and her group of guys relatively soon. I can understand the concerns of some of the other reviewers as sometimes changes like this do change the main character a great deal and might slow the storyline down to a boring pace, but I have confidence that Corvin will be able to make some serious magic happen with this little twist. I don't see Melisande losing her tough and battle ready personality, but do think it may be enhanced a bit. When you have someone you care for, you'll protect it with everything you possibly can. Besides that major twist, there were other great things happening in this book. I was happy to see the incorporation of the other princes of Hell in this book. It was interesting to see how their personalities manifested along with the sin that they represented. Some even ended up being much more than expected. We also saw a lot of changes in the guys this time around. Softer and harder sides were shown more than in the previous two books. There were several steamy moments as well as sweet ones where you really connected to the characters and saw their fears or concerns about the future. After that crazy intense ending, I expect the future ahead to be a hard and eventful one with many huge obstacles to get past, but as long as everyone stays on the same page and works together, everything will all work out.

Usually I review Cate Corvin's series when I've read all the books in the series. Reason for this, I feel that her series could be one very thick book, she's just broken it up into thinner books to make the series. You can not read them out of order or skip books in the series.

She has fast become a favorite of mine and I admit I have been binging her different series. I love her strong female leads and the interaction between the multiple love interests. I suppose it was bound to happen that I would find a series of hers that I didn't enjoy.

This series has 4 male love interests all vying for Melisande's (the angel who was pushed out of heaven by Gabriel) attention while they join forces to mete out her revenge and succeed in their quest. Generally this would make for interesting reading but to be honest, I was getting a bit bored in book 2 already and I saw that there was still another 3 books to go.
However, I thought that it would pick up in book 3 and it did, I just couldn't get around the slight plot twist that happened 30% into the book. A twist that I knew would take all the enjoyment out of the rest of the series for me.

From a religious point of view, I know that books about Heaven and Hell skirt a fine line especially in the fantasy genre. So I was aware of this going into this series. I was cautious but pleasantly surprised for the first 2 books. When I got to book 3, the line was crossed for me and I decided that it was time to give it up.
If this is not a concern for other readers, then they may enjoy this series more than me however I did start finding it to be a bit tedious and 4 men just seemed to be a little too many.
