On Earth, 12 female college students board a starship for 'A Year of Interstellar Education'. Crashing on a primitive planet inhabited by barbarian aliens was not on their itinerary…
I did not want the Terran female as my mate. Now I cannot imagine life without her!
Jill-ee-un has the heart of a warrior and is as stubborn as a wild beast. She says she does not belong to me, that she does not want to be my mate. What she does not know is that she already is!
For my heart to know true happiness, I must convince her that we belong together, that she is my forevermore bond. But first I must save her from the maw of a deadly trappol tree!
2022 Goal update (1/25/22): Book #2 from my list of series I wanna finish or DNF. Full Review to come.
Final Review (1/27/22): It’s a pretty basic Alien Barbarian romance. Nothing new to the genre. It's 2.25.
Not much to say. It is not riveting, no-action. The couple “action” scenes are resolved in literal pages. I don’t believe that 1 alien warrior and some random girl from Earth can successfully defeat more than 5 alien mercenary criminals to free 3 other random girls in moments.
There is steam, which is the point of this book. I am sounding negative here but it was fine to read and I don’t regret checking it off my list of series to Finish/Continue or DNF.
A trope that always pisses me off… well tropes is 1) the miscommunication. I understand that they don’t speak each other's languages. It’s an alien romance but even when they managed to make it so Jillian’s translator thing worked with the Rakui language she still was not direct with Remmel . Which led to a ton… tons of drama.
Which leads me into my second trope that pisses me off… 2) I really don’t know the word to describe it but I’ll just call it the conniving b*tch trope. Because of course there is going to be some other chick who tries to steal your man. Then as Jillian does you get mad at him but don’t tell him. And it bungles the miscommunication up to a new level. Eventually it gets figured out and I really hope the other girl gets a HEA. Not to be delusional because people backstab other people but I have trouble feeling sympathy for Jillian when she told all the other girls that her and Remmel were “just friends” and they could quote “go for it” in regards to Remmel. Then, she got pissy.
I get why people are 5 starring the book but it just didn’t work for me. This exact book didn’t fit my preferences but I want to know what’s up with the girls' professors. Reyzon may mean they aren’t the bad guys.
Well, here we are again. This is not the riveting, nail-your -eyes-to-your-Kindie, unputdownable alien roman ce. Ain't that kind of series. Its pretty standard - steamy sex, hot alien warrior and plucky, prickly Earth girl, bad aliens and betrayal by government. I'd have liked it better if the dialogue was more entertaining - the "me Tarzan - You Jane" wears thin. However. iff you're into no surprises and plenty of sex, this one should do you fine.
Remmel: by Lena Grey. On Earth, 12 female college students board a starship for A Year of Interstellar Education. Crashing on a primitive planet inhabited by barbarian aliens was not on their itinerary… A brilliant read. Loved the story and some of the characters. I loved the cover too. Looking forward to the next book. 5*.
I read this second book almost right after the first book in the series and for some reason I felt a little lost. Like either part of the story was missing or I had skipped pages. It didn't make for an enjoyable reading experience. Also there is a fine line between being considered a feisty girl and just being a bitch. Jillian definitely crossed that line for me.
Jillian is one of 12 female college students on a starship to spend a year on interstellar education, which they later find out through encrypted files was actually a top secret military experiment. A solar storm causes them to crash on a primitive planet inhabited by Rakui Warrior barbarians. Remmel and Trauhn, golden scaled warriors, rescue six of the women, but the other six are missing. Remmel takes the map Layla had started and adds in mountains, trees, landmarks, then circles where two of the three missing escape pods landed – in the dangerous Rogue territory. When Remmel and Jillian first looked at each other, heat sizzled between them. And yet when he walks out of the cave, he doesn’t spare her a glance. He doesn’t want the humans in the search party, but they insisted on coming anyway so their missing friends won’t panic when the 7-foot aliens approach them. He is worried for her safety when they deal with the rogues. But he told her she was weak – why would he even think she would want to be his mate?
The group split up for the search. Remmel catches breakfast and is cooking it as Jillian wakes up and goes into the trees to empty her bladder. He packs up their belongings and puts out the fire while she is gone. But she is gone longer than expected and, hearing a sudden scream, he finds her hanging upside-down, held by the living vines of a trappol tree which intends to eat her. She is already too high up for him to reach, so he climbs the tree and uses his knife on the branches – but the tree will not release her. He continues to hack at the branches, but with only one left, she will have to swing her body toward him – but she is afraid. “Trust,” he says. Then he leaps at her, swipes the last vine with his knife, and they begin to fall as he wraps himself around her. If they survive, how can he let her know how he feels? They have been miscommunicating all along. Would Jillian let her heart tell her the truth?
This is Book 2 of the new Rakui Warriors series. The characters are very personable. The story line moved smoothly from the beginning to the end. With a new group of alien stories, the possibilities are endless and delightful!
The writing and editing of this novel was super clean, with few if any typos that I caught in the ARC version of this manuscript. The world building was competent. The characterization was good, with the hero being more sympathetic than the heroine. The heroine had terrible relationship and communication skills, and I was not sure that she was going to be able to be one half of a healthy relationship. The development of the romantic relationship was marred by the heroine's habit of not being a clear and honest communicator. The plot and pacing was exciting, with me rapidly turning the pages to find out what was going to happen next. The heroine had a lot of dumb angst in this novel, which was not super enjoyable, but the high stakes redeemed this story somewhat. This story had the Mars Needs Women trope, which I love, and the Refusal to Communicate Honestly trope, which I typically cannot stand. The world building, plot, and pacing were four stars. The characterization and development of the romantic relationship was four stars also. However, I needed to take off one star from the combined score because of the inclusion of the Refusal to Communicate Honestly trope. That meant that the combined score ended up being three stars. This novel ends on a Happy Ever After ending instead of a cliffhanger, so that is a big plus to this novel. I recommend this sci-fi romance to readers who love the sub-genre and are not bothered by the Refusal to Communicate Honestly trope. I enjoyed many elements of this novel, but I will not be buying myself a keeper copy.

These are good stories. It starts with 12 female college seniors who have been picked to do a year of study in intergalactic space. 12 planets in 12mths. Things go wrong and their escape pods land on an alien planet. This is the second love story. Remmel is not impressed the first time he sees Jillian. He thinks she is weird looking and weak. This all happens in book 1. In book 2 they are both part of a team searching for the last six women whose pods landed. 6 were found in the 1st book. Their relationship is tumultuous with both being afraid to open themselves up to each other. There is alot of drama in the books concerning why they crash landed. That theme starts in book 1 carries through the series. Of course they get their hea. The author says that you don't have to read book 1 but you might want to. While I agree that you could read book 2 as a standalone I really recommend you read book I and you need to read the books in order because it is a continuous story. I definitely recommend this series.

Remmel and Jillian Two grumps that lack communication. Jillian and Remmel head out with a search party to locate the last two missing girls Taylor and Charolette. When the group has to be split up it might be too late. Jillian's life is in danger as a vine-tree monster decides to eat her and Remmel fights with the urges of only being friendswithbenefits. Jillian's inability to get pregnant and Charolette's advances on Remmel push her further from the group and deeper into despair.
>>"You must save your mate," a voice inside my head thunders. There is no time to grapple with the voice, to tell it that Jill-ee-un is my friend, not my mate.
Sample I rise just before daybreak to hunt for fresh game, being careful not to waken the sleeping Jill-ee-un. Her enthusiasm under the furs expended much energy, and I wish her rest as long as possible before we set back out on our search. We have another long day ahead.
errors at 34% >>"have rubbed my feed raw" An improvement from book 1
I received a copy from BookSprout; this is my honest review -This book is so much better than the first one! -You absolutely need to read book #1 to understand what's going on in book #2 and probably the rest of them too. I started reading #2 without reading #1. I stopped at chapter 7, and went to buy and read #1 to grasp and make sense of things. -Remmel and Jillian fight a lot until they start to talk to each other about their feelings, their wants, their needs. Communication is the key. -A good portion of information was given here too, following book #1, the reason why they are there, who put them there, etc. I loved the cavern with the history in it. -Good twist at the end - I'm not sure yet if I like it yet or not. It doesn't matter but it brings you to book #3 with Reyzon. -Editing needs another pass: fete vs. feat, he the rogue yells, etc.
There wasn't as much historical or cultural development as in the first book, but we are introduced to a couple of interesting forms of plant life and how the population interacts with it. Remmel and Jillian have a good chemistry, but are both too stubborn to communicate effectively. Indeed, the communication barrier is minimal and is mostly just minor comical misunderstandings over cultural uses of the English language (or rather old galactic language!) But they still manage to work well together even if they don't say what they want from their relationship. And most excitingly we get some teases (no pun intended) on the next step of this secret experiment and what the ultimate end game might be, and it isn't necessarily what we would expect.

Remmel: A SciFi Alien Barbarian Romance Rakui Warriors Book 2 By Lena Grey Juno Wells Kindle unlimited purchase On Earth, 12 female college students board a starship for A Year of Interstellar Education. Crashing on a primitive planet inhabited by barbarian aliens was not on their itinerary… or was it? This book pulled me in. The questions I have. Why were they stranded on the planet? Is among them. Is there going to be 12 books in the series, there are 12 women on the planet. Each story in the Rakui Warriors series is a complete romance, although there is a continuing storyline that unfolds throughout the series. But everyone gets their own HEA at the end. Reyzon is set for publication on July 30 and I can't wait.

Continuing the saga begun in Trauhn’s book... Jillian and Remmel, along with some of the other Rakui, go in search of the missing human women that they didn’t rescue the first time around. With the language barrier between them, they have to negotiate through their relationship, while dealing with the dangers of the world they are on now.
This is not a standalone story (although the hero and heroine and their romance is only in this book) but rather the second book in an overarching storyline about human women who have landed on an inhospitable planet, inhabited by a ‘barbarian’ tribe of aliens. Recommended for fans of alien romances and barbarian romances.
This is the second book in the Rakui warriors series and though different, it was no less good than the first. Remmel and Jillian were fully developed characters who the reader was able to get to know and understand not only though their inner thoughts but actions as well. Admittedly, I had my doubts about the two after the way that they ended in the first book but I'm happy to have been proven wrong. Story was well done with a decent amount of action; overall well done.

Interesting premise, crash-landed, but on purpose?? I liked this story, now, I'm going to have to go back and read the first book. I'm intrigued. While I'm not a fan of cliff hangers, this one has enough of an ending to satisfy and still titillate one into wanting read on. I will however say that I found it to be a little on the short side, more novella than book. It was funny, exciting and romantic, with a HEA.

This is book two in the Rakui Warriors series (You might want to read book one to fully understand). This book is just as good as the first one! I love Remmel and Jillian or as Remmel calls her Jill-ee-un. Remmel did not want a mate and fought his feelings for Jillian. Jillian was drawn to Remmel the first time she saw him. Love the chemistry between these two. Can't wait for the third book!

Jillian sucked big time! I wish Remmel could have found someone who wasn't 'friends with benefits ' then throw a fit when she thinks someone else is interested which was stupid because she told them Remmel was just a friend nothing more. Her and Charlotte should have been left in the woods they both sucked. Sick of the excuse of having horrible past to make the heroines be jerks. Couldn't finish because I disliked heroine so much
Remmel has been intimate will Jillian. However she is fighting the match. He does not want to belive she is the one for him. Can these two finally come together and see they are meant for each other? Another fun short read where women were intentionally sent to a new planet by their government. They were told they were going to learn about aliens. These ladies learn way more than they bargain for in a very sexy way.
This book 2 in the Rakui Warriors Series is a very well-written story with well crafted characters. These wonderfully written characters, flaws and all, will make you feel their emotions and you will root for them to make the connection. They have wonderful chemistry. It's a fast-paced and standalone book that will keep you engaged from start to finish. I cannot wait to read more.

Loving this series! Story of Remmel and Jill-ee-an (love how they break the names down). Neither Remmel or Jillian want to admit their feelings for each other, but a journey to find the other missing girls, they both come to realise they love each other. Great storyline, and action with mercenaries, and a possible twist plot looming, onto the next to find out.
The second book in the Rakui Warriors a well written story that held my interest throughout. Remmel and Jillian’s story there is suspense, drama, danger, a language barrier, and romance. I want to read the next book. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I am a little confused on some of details but still the story was very nice. There were a few errors but I didn't have any trouble reading it. I hope some of my confusion will be cleared up in one of the next books.
Rammed and Jillian have multiple misunderstandings on their bumpy road to statehood . A lot is going on and I do not want spoil it. I look forward to book 3 . Which was a surprise to the author too .😀
Great Read. What would make this book more enjoyable for me is if I had read book one (Trauhn) first. So before I go to Book Three, I will finish book one.

It is amazing how a full thought out well crafty story is in the fast delectable book. Most books of equal size or even larger really fail to compare. Well established characters and great world building with a fantastic plot make this a must read.
This is getting good. I’m glad all the girls are getting rescued. I’m also glad that we see more of what is going on with the plot. I hope we see everyone get their HEA even Charlotte.
