Betrayal.

When it comes at the hands of family, betrayal destroys lives. His reputation destroyed and career as a surgeon shattered, Harrison M. Boswell, VI, vanishes, and the alter-ego of Dr. Maliki Blue arises. His employer, Guardian Security, knows who he had been—but they are the only ones. Too bad pasts don’t stay buried. A distress call from the one person he couldn’t ignore drags him back to a place and time he’d sworn to forget and embroils him in a tangled web of small-town drama and three deaths. With one foot out of the door, Mal is ready to leave and never return, when the deputy sheriff appeals to him for the kind of help only he, and Guardian can provide.

Desire.

Dr. Maliki Blue exploded into her world at the scene of what would have been a successful murder—had the good doctor not intervened so swiftly and effectively to save the life of the gunshot victim. As Senior Deputy Sheriff of Pleasant County, VA, Poet Campbell’s instinct told her Dr. Maliki Blue was more than who he said he was. Checking out the gorgeous, sexy doctor will be one of life’s unexpected pleasures. Then life—and a suspicious set of unrelated circumstances—complicates everything, including her attraction to the sexy doctor.

Destiny.

He didn't want to acknowledge his past or examine the reasons he left, but fate forced that hand. Fate also dropped Poet Campbell onto his lap. However, other than for his access to Guardian, she doesn’t need him, although neither would deny the gravitational pull between them. Not a fertile field to grow a meaningful relationship no matter how insatiable their physical attraction. Add corrupt officials and a psychotic serial killer and a tragic ending is almost preordained—almost.

Who heals the healer

A great book. Maliki Blue has taking care of King and everyone else in Guardian. Now embarking on a new path at the Rose a link from his past forces him back to the place he once called home. Looking for closure on him past be will discover more than he bargained for.

As always having the main characters from the other books being support characters in this book is awesome. As this is my favourite of the brothers, I think I enjoyed this book even more. He might not be in charge of the company but he is still big brother or mother when in this case.

I like that Maliki is re-training and learning so he is not yet up to speed with all upgrades in Guardian. Poet is a great character. Stronge willed and dedicated. Of course she get extra point for her choice in games.

Great book. Great characters, talk about on the job learning. Part of Maliki's story has a personal resonance to the King siblings so it is good for them to try to get some thing back from this as well.

Kris Michaels consistently produces extraordinarily excellent work. The diversity and strength of her characters alone would carry a story. But, each and every storyline is finely crafted with the right mixture of drama, action, suspense, mystery and romance in support of the characters. Her female characters are as strong and capable as as their male counterparts. To date, I've read every one of the Guardian series and have yet to experience one iota of disappointment in a book. Maliki is no exception.

Dr. Maliki Blue is a man defined by his past or maybe because of it. He's been a man in transition ever since a bitterly disappointing family event. Now he's returned to the "scene of the crime" at his mother's request. A local crime puts him on the radar of a local sheriff's deputy, Poet Campbell. Poet is the real deal; good at her job, is unflinchingly honest, and knows what she wants. She recognizes that Maliki may be the answer to the help she needs to investigate a series of murders in the county. Add to that, her attraction to the sexy doctor is off the charts. They team up along with Guardian to do some under the radar investigating. The more time Mal and Poet spend with one another the more their feelings align. Carving out a future may be just what the doctor ordered.

Can the past be forgiven?

Mal has secrets, lots of them, and he has been running from most of them for years but he finally realises that to fully embrace his future, he needs to face his past. Easier said than done and nothing is as he remembers it or as he expects it to be....he certainly doesn't expect to return to his past and find his future...but that's exactly what Poet is. We see his internal battle as he fights his natural instinct to run from the shadows that still haunt him, but has a need, a pull to stay and fight for and with Poet.
An emotional journey for Mal and a dangerous one for Poet, but they are both better people for it and together they are an unbeatable team.
I read this on Kindle Unlimited.

Another entertaining romantic suspense!

I enjoyed this second book in the Guardian Defenders series, a spinoff from the original Kings of Guardian series. I love that the King siblings are still very much involved in this spin-off series even though I found that they took a more lackadaisical approach to secrecy and keeping their identity’s private.

The premise of this is that doctor, Maliki, is called back to his wealthy family after years of estrangement and has to figure out whether he even wants to make peace and find closure with his parents after their betrayal years ago. Meanwhile, he meets Sheriff’s Deputy, Poet, who’s investigating a string of murders of young women that her Sheriff boss seems to want to suppress.

I thought this was really interesting and readable. The suspense elements were kind of low key and accessible. I loved the side story of Maliki’s imperfect relationship with his parents and the associated themes of anger, pain, betrayal the search for whether closure and reconciliation are possible. I was a little taken aback at how open and public the Guardian staff were with their identities and information given the broader context of the Stratus threat and the fact that many people are supposedly “dead” and are living under assumed identities. That took a bit of suspended disbelief to swallow. But this, like all the author’s books, was very entertaining and difficult to put down. I can’t believe I’m caught up on this Guardian universe, and I look forward to her next release in this series.

Dr. Maliki Blue walked away from his family and reinvented himself. He now finds himself back home for a visit at the request of his mother. But what he finds is murder, lies, mystery, love and argualy the most improtant thing, forgiveness.

This story does not diappoint. It had everything that I have come to expect from Ms. Michaels. Witty banter. The banter between Joseps and Maliki is uproarious. There were also scenes with him family that were touching, espically after all that happened years ago. There were love scenes, of course. I also quite enjoyed the banter between the Kings as Jason, Joseph, Jade, Jewell, Jacob and Jared all make appearences in this book. That family is a hoot and well once you are made an honorary member of the family, they have your six.

The story grabbed me from the beginning and as soon as I met the heroine Poet I knew that this book was going to be really good. Poet reminded me a lot of Jade, tough, badass, take what she wants but not as "crazy" as Jade. Poet is a smart and dedicated deputy who stops at nothing to solve muders that appear unlinked.

Maliki is strong, independent and he has come from a bitter past of betrayl and finger pointing that ruined his reputation. He is living but I don't think he was living life to the fullest, he was just sort of existing until Poet showed him the way.

This was a great story and well I look forward to the next one.

I borrowed Miliki ~ Guardian Defenders ~ Book 2, by Kris Michaels from the Kindel Unlimited Program.

Harrison M. Boswell, VI, left his family when his father betrayed him and changed his name to Maliki Blue. He joined the Air Force and joined Guardian and was betrayed by the leader of his team with disasterous results, so he had as hard decision when he received a message that his mother wanted to see him again to help her with a troubling issure.

He returned to his parent's summer home where his mother resided to find what she wanted. He also found a young woman shot when he left the bar where he ate his first dinner when he came to town and met Deputy Poet Chambell and became involved with her investagations into several murders over the last year. Guardian takes over the investigation, solves the crimes. Maliki with the help of Poet finds a way to put his past behind him and makes a decision to live doing his best in the present and put the past behind him.

Maliki and Poet came up with an idea to add another way to help the teams with a doctor/EMT team that could get to teams with injuries within hours all over the world and be together.

I enjoyed this story of Forgiveness & Finding Love

Kris is an amazing author that definitely knows how to keep her readers like myself coming back for more with this Guardian series. This book had a lot of twists & turns & so hard to put down lol.

This was such a powerful storyline about Doc Maliki Blue overcoming the betrayal of his father & learning how to forgive both his parents years later. And finding love with Poet who has become such a favorite character of mine, she is smart, knows what she wants & is such a kick ass & take no bs woman. She also has such a passion for her job & trusted her gut instinct and followed through with finding answers & justice for the victims from cases she believed were not followed fully investigated correctly.

I hope you all enjoy not only this book but all the rest of this Guardian Series Kris Michael's has, and if this is your 1st book to read from her I'd highly suggest going to her website & clicking on the link to her reading order for this series it definitely makes it easy to keep up with all the characters mentioned in each book & follow along to what happens in Guardian International.

Visiting the past brings healing and danger!

Maliki is called home by his mother to repair the relationship with his father, who betrayed him in a horrible way. He finds his father is very ill and he has a chance to settle things. On this journey he is drawn into a situation and saves the life of a crime victim. In this situation he meets Senior Deputy Poet Campbell. The attraction is magnetic and they eventually give in. Poet does ask for a little help with some cases and Maliki asks for help from his Guardian family. While Guardian becomes involved things become dangerous....Kris Michaels once again gives us an exciting, mysterious and sexy journey. I love the strength of Poet and her instincts to know something is wrong. The journey of Maliki and Poet is very entertaining and Kris Michaels has brilliantly taken readers to another exciting level in the Guardian world. This author created strong characters that have flaws but together they overcome those issues and become stronger together. Fabulous read!

EXCELLENT STORY!!!

As usual Kris Michaels delivers an excellent, exciting, suspenseful, and steamy story in this book. I love the way she crafts a story... From the first page to the last her books are interesting and action packed! This book was really an enjoyable read.... The suspense and mystery was riveting and engrossing. The storyline was unique and clever. Mal's interaction with his father was very moving and a reminder that sometimes we just have to let the past stay in the past so we can live fully in the present. Also there was a very good reminder that all you can do each day is to do your best!!!! I liked Poet very much..... Her character was strong and confident. Poet and Mal's relationship was a nice mixture of trusting growing friendship and steamy passion. I liked that they were able to talk honestly with each other and that there was very low angst in the story!!! I highly recommend this book. It was very enjoyable and hard to put down once I started reading it!!!!

This is Dr. Maliki Blue’s and Senior Deputy Sheriff Poet Campbell’s book. It’s the second book in the Guardian Defender series and one I really enjoyed.

Maliki had not seen his parents for years because of his father’s actions and his mother’s inaction. When she requested that he come see her, Maliki decided to go in order to get the closer from his parents he needed. While there, Maliki discovers a gun shot victim and a hot little Sheriff. Poet and Maliki have an instant attraction and decide to have a little fun while he’s in town. When Poet learns he’s with Guardian, she asks for his help because of questionable deaths that the Sheriff has blown off. Even though there is no evidence suggesting the murdered women are related, Poet has a hunch and Maliki agrees.

I liked both Maliki and Poet, and I thought their backgrounds being in the Air Force made them even more perfect for each other. They just clicked and I enjoyed watching them realize they had developed feelings for one another.

Maliki is the second book in the Guardian Defenders series by Kris Michaels. With this series, Ms. Michaels delivers a compelling mix of romantic suspense, tactical action, and emotional storytelling. It’s another spin-off from the Kings of Guardian series, and definitely doesn’t disappoint, retaining the same high-energy pacing and interconnected worldbuilding I have come to expect from Ms. Michaels, while also introducing us to new operatives with their own unique missions and personal challenges.
Each book can be read as a standalone romance that’s wrapped up in a high-stakes operation - but I would be remiss not to mention that together they form a cohesive web of loyalty, trust, and found family.
Once again, Ms. Michaels delivers authentic action sequences grounded in military and covert operations, distinct character voices that make each operative memorable, interconnected relationships that add an extra dynamic to the overall series, and the perfect balance between suspense and romance.
Happy Reading…

Maliki Blue has been an object of interest to readers since Jasmine's story in the Kings of Guardian series. Dr. Blue has been "in the wrong place at the wrong time" and has tragedy in his past. These have never been explained, and Maliki has come out of the shadows a little more with each story. We now get to understand what has happened to him and why he never speaks of his past life. When he receives notification that a private investigator has been searching for him, he decides to make contact and that message sends him to a place he thought he had quit forever - his home town. He finds not only a reconciliation he never expected but a smart, beautiful, and strong deputy sheriff who doesn't accept the answers she receives about some unexplained deaths. When Poet and Maliki join forces, the evil in town takes notice and takes action to stop them. Guardian is in their corner, though, so no worries.

Maliki & Poet

Kris Michaels has written yet another amazing book in the saga of Guardian Security. Dr. Maliki Blue left his family behind after a devastating betrayal, changed his name and completely reinvented himself. His mother sends a PI to find him, calling him home to mend fences since his father is ill. He finds himself involved with danger, intrigue, and and the beautiful & intelligent Deputy Poet Campbell.

The story between Maliki and Poet was written brilliantly by Kris Michaels. Maliki was letting his past dictate his life, and this summons home by his mother gave him the opportunity to meet Poet, which is just what he needed to give him another point of view. She reminds me of a combination of Jade and Jasmine.

I loved how much Joseph was involved, and the interaction of Joseph, Jason, Jacob, Jared, Jewell & Jade. The banter between them and with Maliki literally had me laughing and my husband looking over at me.

Another great read from Kris Michaels. Maliki's story is different from the other Guardian books in that there is not as much action and intrigue. This is because this book is about Maliki rather than the Guardian organisation. Maliki hasn't yet found his place within Guardian and has to return home when his father's health deteriorates. There he resolves to sort out the issues he has with his parents and help a local deputy solve what appears on the surface to be open and shut cases with nothing suspicious about them and nothing to link them together other than her hunch that there's more to their deaths than appears. It's a more gentler read but still a good one and we see a side of Joseph that isn't always revealed that much. We also meet more of the characters in the Guardian world, some of whom will get their own book. Look forward to the next one.

while this story wasn't as full of angst as some of the others it was a nice to get a nice slow romantic build up instead of the insta love that we seem to get in a lot of stories. it was nice to hear all of the old characters on the telephone line as well as our most famous operator. although this was not the international espionage that we normally are used or the Black Ops it was a Homegrown crime in a small town and just so happened to be malaki's town. love poet and it was one of the nicer, tamer, feel good type of stories. still with Ms Michael's style...pardon the pun!😊
Matt Haynes I love you it is so nice to hear a solo narrator change his tone and infections, where can keep track of who is who you are marvellous for these books and I am so glad that I can listen to you with every single one of them so far

I love Maliki. Another family who messed ups their some. Redemption sometimes brings closure at the end. Piet on the other hand had a great family and was a go getter. Maliki and Poet had the Air Force in common. As the Deputy Sheriff in Maliki’s home town, she feels there is a connection with 3 deaths in the last tear. But, her boss the sheriff has not brought the information to the higher ups. Something is not right.
Poet and Maliki met at an almost murder that the doctor saved the victim. Knowing Maliki works for Guardian, Poet confides in him about the murders.
All hell breaks loose , mystery, recorded deaths on the web and Piet disappears.
Maliki deserves live and happiness but will he be able to save Poet before she becomes the next victim. I liked that Joseph was Maliki mentor and boss

Maliki

WOW! This story was intriguing right from the first chapter. Maliki was requested to go home by his mother. He had a falling out with his father but knew he had to face them. He arrived in town only to get caught up in an incident involving a girl who was shot. He then met Poet (very interesting name) as she was the one who arrived scene. The two have chemistry together. Poet wanted help in bringing justice to the 3 murdered women. Maliki agreed to help and things heat up as the investigation continues. It was kind of interesting who the killer was. Once he is apprehended, these two start working on their happily ever after! FANTASTIC job Kris! I would highly recommend this book.

Harrison M. Boswell, VI, quit the surgical practice he shared with his dad when he had to face a devastating betrayal against him; with Guardian’s help, he remade himself into Dr. Maliki Blue. Guardian notifies Maliki he’s being sought by a PI working for his mom. Within hours of arriving in his hometown, Mal finds a woman nearly dead from stomach wounds.

Deputy Poet Campbell arrives on scene, she and Mal take care of the business at hand with a side of flirty banter. At their next meeting, Poet privately shares her suspicions on recent activity with Mal who agrees while somehow rubbing the sheriff the wrong way. Suspicions and bodies mount, Mal pulls Guardian in, the investigation causes the villain to make mistakes.

Poet and Maliki are great together. Love them

A doctor on vacation and a sheriff's deputy and have a lot in common. Maliki is called home by his estranged mother. When he helps to save a girls life he meets Poet and things spark from there. But her boss, the sheriff, doesn't want them talking to each other and becomes more paranoid than he was before. As they try to figure out what is going on they get closer and even thought they agreed no strings they both are letting feelings come into play. Then after Guardian starts helping them to connect several murders over the past year, someone kidnaps Poet. Will Maliki and Guardian be able to find her before she is killed? Worth the Wait!!

If you follow the Guardian series you’ve been introduced to Dr. Maliki Blue some time ago, and like me have been anxiously awaiting his story.

Well Kris Michaels certainly doesn’t disappoint! Maliki is definitely worth the wait!! You finally get the mysterious details of his past and honestly my heart broke for him.

This story had me intrigued at chapter one and completely in love with Maliki and the rest of the King’s by the end. An great story line with a bit of action and some mystery make this one of my favorite reads.

Definitely can’t wait for more Guardian’s!!!

Simply Sensational

This series is amazing, well written plots, stories continuing from book to book. Its an investment into the lives loves and relationships of amazing heroes that give us hope fir a brave new world.
Maliki's story centres around his struggle to forgive his father, his younger self and his perceptions on his life that has sculptured him into the person that he is today. Fabulous played out love story, that awakens the desires for their own better tomorrow and leads onto a new pathway of hope.
Highley recommend this series but please please start from the begining with Jacob book 1 of The Kings of Gaurdian, you won't be disappointed

another excellent Guardian story

Maliki is not close to his parents but returns home at the behest of his mother, he meets Poet a local deputy when he helps a young girl who has been shot. Poet feels in her gut that there is something linking this shooting and 3 other deaths of young women recently. Her boss, the local Sheriff is being obstructive and won’t listen to her, she talks to Maliki and requests Guardian’s help. During their investigations they become close and it also gives Maliki time to mend fences with his parents.
Another excellent book in the Guardian series.

Great team work, great mystery and suspense. Dr. Maliki Blue has weathered some major storms in his life, both personal and professional. He's been healing under the auspices of Guardian Security. He's heading home at the request of his estranged mom and face some family demons. But his vacation turns into a terrible civilian terror ride. He's drawn into helping Deputy Sheriff Poet Campbell with a mysterious series of murders, that have not been confirmed as murders. Their investigation is unusual and soon Guardian is involved. This strange and twisted case is troubling. But the relationship that develops between Maliki and Poet is fitting and exquisite.

Zooming into love

The latest installment by Kris Michaels was nothing less than amazing. This long awaited story of Dr. Blue and his fearless and vivacious love interest Poet Campbell did not disappoint. While trying to come to terms with his family, especially his father Maliki Blue unexpectedly falls for a beautiful woman who is the town deputy sheriff. Amidst a long awaited confrontation between Poet and her town sheriff, she is taken by surprise with her undeniable attraction to the strikingly handsome Maliki. Just read this series and the other stories connected to the Guardian Security series. Kris is a very detailed and descriptive author. Her sexy time pages were pure FIRE! I plan to re-read this story again and again.

A Dark history

Dr. Maliki Blue has a tormented past. Two of them. And he can't get beyond either. But one is family, and he will answer when his mother calls. The other involves the local area, and he gets involved there by saving a life. From a gunshot wound, in the parking lot of the restaurant he just left. But isn't pretty young women are dying in this sleepy town under unusual circumstances. And Senior Deputy Sheriff Poet Campbell wants to know why. And now, so does Maliki.

Now we know about Dr.Blue

Maliki has always been just a mention of very minor character in many of the other Guardian books but now we learned about him and his interesting life and background. He goes home to a small town to clear the air with his par and gets caught up in mystery and romance. He questions where his life is headed with Guardian. He falls in love. We must assume he lives hea as a wedding is in the future.
Love the Guardian and Guardian related books. Hopefully there will be more to come.

Maliki has been the brooding and wounded doctor for this series and now we killed mor of the history and why! Poet is a fantastic name and a great character. I loved her approach to the cases, her job, family and of course Maliki. They are. Great couple and the story shows their growth throughout the book. The King family has Maliki’s back and it was evident in this story with conversations, rescues, investigations and the final outcome of this new couples path forward. A quick and fun read that was a great addition to the series!

Great book

I really enjoyed this book. It was action packed with sweet and funny moments between Maliki and Poet. This book didn’t have the usual Guardian Security overarching plot. It has to do with Poet’s small town crime. Poet is a Sr Deputy officer and Maliki is visiting his estranged parents. They have several crimes they are trying to solve and see if those are really connected. I enjoyed watching their relationship grow and they have fun banter. There were several exciting moments where I did not want to put the book down. I recommend this book.

Two different sides of the track

Another fantastic job done by Kris Michaels. No matter where you come from or how you are raised everyone we all have baggage or things unsettled. Dr Blue was no different. Going back to where he once lived allowed him closure and also able to find his missing piece. I love how all characters from other books play a big supporter role in this story. As Always was unable to put this book down. Thanks for introducing us to Poet and bringing her and Mal together.
