Way over the top plot, that didn’t make sense in places.
This is the first time I have read a book by this author, and I’m not that impressed. At times it came close to being a really good book. It felt like the author got carried away by trying to make it exciting, and the end result is too crash, bang, wallop.
I didn’t connect to either of them, and one major complaint is there’s no chemistry. I was told they were madly in love, but I didn’t feel it, and there’s NO SEX!! 😱😱 Absolutely zero sex! They have a couple of tame kisses and that’s it. Then there’s the characters, I still don’t know which ones are David’s brothers, as there’s so many different people. I got too confused. I’m sure there is Cal and a Caleb! I could be wrong on that, as the author expects us to remember them all, after a very brief introduction.
Emma has been on the run with WITSEC for 18 months, after her whole family is murdered. Again with the connection issue, as I didn’t feel Emma’s pain at the loss. She talks about them as though they weren’t her family. Anyway back to the plot. After being found by the murderer several times, Emma demands to see David who was a navy seal. David brings in Fortress a security company, who help keep her safe from the genius murderer. (Yes, that was sarcasm.)
The plot just gets way too over the top and too be brutally honest, I didn’t care about either of them. Halfway through I started looking at other books.
I will try this author again, as maybe this was a bad book for her.
