On the run for more than a year, Emma Tucker narrowly escapes another attempt on her life. When the U.S. Marshals fail to keep her safe, Emma turns to the most dangerous man she knows, a Navy SEAL who stole her heart before a serial killer murdered her family.
After Sheriff David Montgomery learns the woman he adores is the target of a vicious killer, he’s determined to free Emma from the threat and resume his campaign to win her heart. When they fall into the hands of the enemy, David’s skill and experience might not be enough to help them survive the killer’s trap.
Hello new series! Maple Valley features the Montgomery brothers who made their appearance in SEAL's Promise. Five single brothers, all former military and all apart of the Sheriff's department in the small town of Maple Valley? Wouldn't you be screaming for a new series?! I know I was! But y'all...
What in the world just happened?! Holy crow Batman! Talk about intense and on the edge of my seat! Every time I went to put the book down to get a few things done, something happened in the book to make me keep reading. I was just about to put my book down for the night and finish it in the morning when all of the sudden... PLOT TWIST! After that, sleep was the last thing on my mind. I just HAD to know what happened!
I'm sure everyone knows by now that small town, second chance romances are one of my all time favorites. This one did not disappoint. Emma knew, and David hoped, they would be reunited again. I really enjoyed getting to know Emma and David and watching them rekindle their relationship. You could tell from the very beginning that the time they spent apart only made their feelings for each other grow stronger. I loved that they both did everything in their power to not only take care of each other, but protect and love each other fiercely. They're definitely some of my favorite characters.
And speaking of favorite characters... I loved seeing old friends from both the Fortress Security and Otter Creek series! I think that's one of the things I love most about Ms. Deel's books. We always get to see characters from her previous books. I love seeing how their HEA's continue. I also loved the setups for more books in the Maple Valley series. I can't wait to read them! But I'm secretly hoping that we'll get Rafe's book next. I have been dying for his book!
Ms. Deel knocked this one out of the park! It's definitely one of my favorite books of hers and I'll be rereading it many, many times. I can't wait to see what she has in store for us next!
As for my casting, it was a bit hard with no descriptions so this one was all me. What do you think? Personally, I love them! Haha.
It's always fun to read books by this author. This one was a little on the freaky side but full of all the action and growing anticipation. The pacing is perfect. I love the men in these books- so strong, loyal and protective. They respect and support the women around. It's always fun to see characters from previous books in these stories. It gives each book a sense of community and home. Content: peril, violence, kissing
It’s always an instant buy every time a new book of Rebecca Deel’s comes out. I was thrilled to find this newest one, the start of a new series. It did not disappoint, and I really enjoyed the mystery, suspense, and romance of this one.
David and Emma were likable protagonists, and their relationship had me sighing in delight. That moment when he first sees her after so long apart- dreamy sigh! As always, it was a clean romance, with just enough spark to keep you smiling. The mystery and adventure were great, and I kept trying to figure out how it would all resolve.
I loved the way the author set up a whole new cast of characters with David and his brothers, while still bringing back others from her Fortress Security and Otter Creek series. There is a lot of foreshadowing for future books in this one, which of course has me impatiently waiting to get my hands on them!
Loved it! Can’t wait for more of the Montgomery brothers. Emma reappears in David’s life unexpectedly. With good reason. Lots of action and suspense. Great secondary characters. Completely safe.
I know I'm in the minority here.. you know when you just want to like a book so much, but you can't really explain why you don't care for it that much? That's where I am right now... I feel like the set up for this book was great and had a lot of opportunity.. Emma has been in witness protection for several months, after her family was murdered and she nearly escaped a serial killer, but somehow, the serial killer keeps finding her at each safe house she stays at. The only person she wishes she could call or go back to from her 'old life' is her boyfriend David, who is an ex-SEAL and is also the sheriff of Maple Valley. David has been searching for Emma for months after hearing her family was murdered but Emma's body was never recovered, so he's been living with hope all this time that some way, somehow she is still alive.
After being at her second or third safe house, the serial killer finds Emma again, and she nearly escapes and finally demands to see David, as he's the only one who she trusts to keep her safe. They're finally reunited, and together with David's 'team' and friend's he's called in to help from higher places of authority, they try to figure out who is after Emma.
All the makings of a great book.... but sadly it kind of fell flat for me.. David and Emma were great characters. I love heroines who are tough and emotionally strong, but I felt like Emma was also kind of cardboard and too boring in a way.. like, she got emotional but for some reason it almost wasn't believable or I couldn't connect with her.... David was great, he was that strong hero who would do anything to take care of the woman he loved... but I felt like their relationship almost didn't have any spark.. after they were reunited they were so happy to see each other, but where was the passion or spark between them? It was very PG, and I was waiting for at least a PG-13 make out session between them when they were reunited (to be totally honest)... a little something to show me that they had that spark and chemistry between them would have been nice.
Way over the top plot, that didn’t make sense in places.
This is the first time I have read a book by this author, and I’m not that impressed. At times it came close to being a really good book. It felt like the author got carried away by trying to make it exciting, and the end result is too crash, bang, wallop.
I didn’t connect to either of them, and one major complaint is there’s no chemistry. I was told they were madly in love, but I didn’t feel it, and there’s NO SEX!! 😱😱 Absolutely zero sex! They have a couple of tame kisses and that’s it. Then there’s the characters, I still don’t know which ones are David’s brothers, as there’s so many different people. I got too confused. I’m sure there is Cal and a Caleb! I could be wrong on that, as the author expects us to remember them all, after a very brief introduction.
Emma has been on the run with WITSEC for 18 months, after her whole family is murdered. Again with the connection issue, as I didn’t feel Emma’s pain at the loss. She talks about them as though they weren’t her family. Anyway back to the plot. After being found by the murderer several times, Emma demands to see David who was a navy seal. David brings in Fortress a security company, who help keep her safe from the genius murderer. (Yes, that was sarcasm.)
The plot just gets way too over the top and too be brutally honest, I didn’t care about either of them. Halfway through I started looking at other books.
I will try this author again, as maybe this was a bad book for her.
## Good but not great. The suspense was good, the camaraderie between the brothers & Fortress teams was fantastic and the story was fast paced. What I found lacking was the build up to the romance. They were already in love when the book began. We didn't get to experience them getting to know each other at all. No build up equaled little chemistry. And the whole mission to obtain knitting supplies for the heroine was outrageous. She risked all their lives just so she could knit. Sure knitting relaxes her, but HELLO, a serial killer is trying to kill you and they are taking out anyone getting in the way. But by all means, let's go get knitting needles and yarn. Puh-leez. 3 stars for me.
Security Breach is the first book in Rebecca Deel’s new series, Maple Valley. Following on from Otter Creek and Fortress Security series, Maple Valley gives all the feels and suspense. Sheriff David Montgomery and Emma Tucker have to endure a lengthy battle to keep Emma safe, after her family were murdered. With the help of David’s brothers, fellow law enforcement officers, Ethan Blackhawk alongside Brent Maddox’s team of experts, justice will be delivered. Another really good read. Rebecca weaves tender love stories with a good helping of tense, dramatic scenes. Expertly written. Looking forward to reading more of this new series.
This was pretty good! It was a little repetitive and slow in the middle, but damn it if I wasn't biting my nails reading this. The romance and suspense was amazing. Poor Emma. I can't imagine being so afraid every moment of your life that you can't close your eyes and have to sleep in your clothes! And David. He never gave up on Emma, even when everyone was telling him she was gone and never coming back. That's a powerful love and strong bond. I love romantic suspense, but I could just kick myself for reading this before the whole series was done. I loved these brothers, and now I have to be patient to wait on the rest of their stories!
Deel doesn't disappoint. The Montgomery boys' stories are off to an exciting start.
I was so hoping when Deel introduced the Montgomery boys we would get a new series and here it is. Lots of excitement, plenty of familiar faces and new ones to keep this excellent group of protectors growing. Lots of foreshadowing of potential relationships to look forward to in the future. If you have been a fan of Rebecca Deel and her fabulous clan of loveable characters, you will be happy with this book.
Rebecca Deel is my very favorite author. There is plenty of action without gore, romance without syrup or porn, and no sex before marriage. Her book characters are like people I know and she masterfully weaves them into future books. I can read them again and again. I knew FBI agent Jordan from other books and wasn't surprised he was a problem. Even though I knew the outcome, I eagerly pursued the pages and was engrossed in finding out what happened next. Ms. Deep, 95 books is just not enough, LOL. Please keep writing!
I’m in love with another series. Can’t wait for another Maple Valley book. I loved the intermingling of the Montgomery brothers with Fortress Security and Otter Creek. I can never get enough of your writing. Camaraderie, fun, mystery and love all in one book. Looks like Owen and GiGi have a story to tell hopefully next. Thanks Ms. Deel for writing good clean books.
This author is amazing! I love her books. They are filled with action suspense and romance. I love the Otter Creek and Fortress Security series; this spin off seems to be just as good as the others. I can't wait for book two. I highly recommend anything and everything written by this author. She is one of my favorites.
Not sure how she does it, but Rebecca has another hit and another team for Fortress Security. David and Emma are a strong couple and I liked that Emma didn’t fall apart whenever things looked iffy - and it’s great that the Wolf Pack was part of the story. Looking forward to more Montgomery Team stories.
This is another nice addition to the the book Miss Deel has written. Although it's a new book, from her, it does bring in some of our favorite characters from her previous book. I look forward to the expansion of these stories with new characters and a new locations.
At first, I wasn't sure I was going to like this book, but the more I got into it, the more I wanted to know - about the killer, about Emma's family, etc. It wasn't a slow burn romance, which initially put me off, but I liked how David and Emma's relationship simply grew as they had to deal with each new piece of information. Overall, a great read
It’s a good story with characters you will root for. Plus quite a few cameos by characters from both the Otter Creek and Fortress series. I see a lot of potential for future stories with the rest of the Montgomery brothers.
Another amazing book that leaves you wanting for more...ms deel dnt disappoint n I can't wait to read future books of these great men n women as well as updates on all the characters from previous books.....
I love Rebecca's books. I get so excited when I see an email saying there's another book out. However I read it too quickly and now have to wait until the next one.
This series is going to be another corker. If you are on the fence about any of her books don't worry you'll enjoy.
I totally love your books. I have every book in both series and I can't wait for your next books. David and Emma 's story was suspenseful and a very great story Please write more on the Montgomery brothers
Wow - a new team in a new town! The Montgomery brothers are here as well as several familiar people from Fortress & Otter Creek. Of course, Agent Jordan is hanging around too. Lots of excitement, lots of action and a great book! You will love it.
As always a Rebecca Deel book knocks it out of the ballpark... I love her storytelling and I eagerly wait for each of the new ones to come out. I love the way her stories revolve around each other and the characters intermingle with each other.
I became a fan of Rebecca Feel through her Otter Creek series, and am happy to find that continue in this new series. I love the continuity of her characters, the adventure, and the HEAs!
Wow, just wow. I enjoyed reading this book immensely. The characters were absolutely amazing and the story line intriguing. A must read in my book and can’t wait to read the next book in the series.
I have enjoyed many books by this author. She has done it again. I loved this story. I liked visiting old friends like Eli, Ethan, and Stella from Other Creek.
Very likeable characters and a great storyline make for good reading. The author has done a wonderful job weaving through events at a pace that keeps you turning the pages to find out what happens next! Great book, definitely recommend.
This book was one that is hard to put down. Everything that you planned to do takes second place until you finish this book. Emma and David become part of you family with you helping with the planning of the capture of the Hunt Club members
I really enjoyed this book! I love being surprised in a book, and this one was very surprising! I also enjoyed reading about people from other books. I love the fortress books!
Non stop action bringing the Montgomery's in, both Fortress sites and setting up for Rafe's book, I can't wait to see what happens in TN next. Thank you
