Shayna followed her heart when she married Sean, knowing that his past actions could destroy them both. His secrets became her burden that day, too. And as much as she loves him, she will never forget what he did to her ex-husband. Or that he rescued her daughter from monsters. She knows her husband is capable of terrible things. And extraordinary things. She married him with her eyes wide open, consequences and conscience be damned. Yet, memories of her ex-husband linger, torment her, remind her that there is a price for keeping secrets.
And Sean’s secrets have followed them to Singapore…
He always knew his past would come knocking. He planned for it. As a former SEAL, Sean leaves nothing to chance. But this time is different. He has a wife to protect. A woman who says she will love him no matter what lurks in his sordid past. He doubts that. He hears what she mumbles about him in her sleep. And he also knows who else appears in her dreams… Her ex.
Sean wants to focus on their future. But first he must lay his past to rest and undertake a personal mission to punish the man who poisoned his soul. It is a reckoning two decades in the making. He has given the orders. The plan is in motion. Everything is under control. Or is it?
Because even if Sean survives his last mission, the future is no longer his alone to shape. He has a wife now. A strong-willed woman he cannot control as he has everything else in his life before her. He knows she will demand answers from him about his past if they are to continue their future together. Does she really want to know everything about him?
Careful with the questions. The answers cannot be unheard…
"Life is not a rehearsal. Ditch the script." -Robyn Roze
Robyn published the Keeper Series in 2013, a new-adult romantic suspense story with an independent heroine determined to set her own course. That same year, Robyn shifted gears and wrote a novel with a seasoned cast: Chain of Title. Readers were loud in their demand for a sequel to the romantic suspense story, and Shayna and Sean’s unconventional love story continued in 2020 with Unchained. In between those two stories, HellKat launched in 2015 with another older, feisty female lead: Kat James, a woman with a head for business and a family that could cost her everything. HellKat has ranked in the top 20 on Amazon in the Romance/Mystery category and in the top 100 in the Romance/Suspense category.

I enjoyed this one a lot and it was a great follow up to Chain of Title. There was a LOT of action in this book and I was finally glad to get to learn more about hero from the last book.
These people act like adults and yet manage to have a passionate romance too. Worth the read and I am so glad I don't have to wait any longer.
WOW! What a sequel. Just finished reading this and I'm already missing these characters. I can boldly say, this is without a doubt my #1 fiction read this year, just don't see anything topping this two book series. So very thankful to the authors whose main characters are 30 and older. I find these 30 and older characters far more interesting due to their life experiences, their baggage that comes with age, established lifestyles and grown children who are always ready and willing to give their opinions. And in this series, all of the main characters are 40 and older. And the starring heroine, Shayna, is simply one fantastic character: Strong, bold, confident, intelligent, fun, sexy, and not afraid to speak her mind.
The author freaking nailed this sequel. Every question I had about a character, their whereabouts, the things they said and especially the things they did, were all answered and or addressed in this book. Though I did have one concern going into this sequel... I knew the second book would be more of Sean's story. So, I assumed Shayna would of course be showcased but would take more of a backseat role. Well those fears and concerns were dashed quite quickly. I should have known just as Sean should have known and just as Sean found out, Shayna can not be contained.
Even though Shayna made this series for me, that's certainly not to take away from the other starring characters. In fact the introduction of Sean's life long friend Mick more than made up for one of the main characters who met their demise. I'm truly campaigning for a Mick book, very intrigued by this man. In fact, Shayna's brother Scott could more than handle his own book too. In other words, I need more from this world with all of these characters.
The characters continually surprised me, not a one them pulls their punches when arguing their point. Not a one. Near the end of the first book Chain of Title, I truly felt the story was complete. However, in the last chapter the author gave the reader a peak of where she was going with Sean's story. That peak into the sequel gave a taste to the reader of what they were in for. Yet, I wasn't prepared for what we received. And once this book is officially released, I most definitely will be reading it again. I rarely to never volunteer to be an ARC reviewer because my reading moods constantly change. But the first book was so dynamic, I was more than willing to read the book for my honest review.
This book, the characters, the story and the writing, truly remarkable. Five Stars
Great characters that will keep your interest till the end with each turn of the pages. The chemistry, sweetness, and twists in plot this sequel kept things interesting. Sean and Shayna make the perfect couple.
I love the main characters, Shayna (Shay) and Sean. They fell in love and married during a tumultuous time, but the love she and Sean found with each is real, and they're living a luxurious, joyful and passionate life together, making up for all that years that passed before they found their true soulmate.
But Sean has a dark past, a vortex of evil he was swept into without having full knowledge of where his actions led and the lives he unwittingly destroyed. Shay has her own ghosts to confront, including the hold her dead ex-husband still has on her, despite the damage he inflicted.
The author does a wonderful job of bringing the important elements of both of their pasts into the present story, so that even if you haven't read Chain of Title, you'll be engrossed in this story of Shay and Sean in the now.
Despite finding a complete world in each other's arms, they can't obliterate the past. Sean is a man on a mission, and even his love for Shay can't keep him from completing it. His nemesis, a prominent Senator who pulled Sean into the dark world so many years before, is more dangerous than ever, and Sean must, once and for all, put things right if he's ever to redeem his soul.
Shay is her own woman, strong, resourceful and independent. She wants to be a complete partner to Sean, but his secrets and his dangerous lifestyle cause him to keep her at arm's length. While Sean is risking his life to bring down the Senator, Shay is risking her marriage by striking out on her own. But then, she's always been her own woman. Shay wants a true partner, an equal in all respects; and if a man is going to be the focus of her life, he has to be strong enough to make her the focus of his.
Danger, thrills and intrigue kept me turning the pages, but I admit I slowed down to enjoy the scenes of white-hot passion these two shared. Robyn Rose is a talented author who can wrap a story within a story and never lose a thread. Unchained is about love, about hate, about loss and redemption. But oh, the rewards for risk can be so sweet, so tantalizing, and the author delivers on all counts.
