A competition for the heart of a magical prince turns dangerous and swoon-worthy in this new Academy romance!

The Velkin are magical. The Velkin are mysterious. The Velkin are dangerous. The Velkin just invited human students into their most prestigious academy for one year. Oh, and I’m one of those students.

Survive. That’s all I want to do this year at the Velkin Royal Academy. But when the King of this magical realm announces that one of the human students will win his son’s hand in marriage this year, as part of a peace treaty with the humans, it soon seems that I’m the leading candidate.

My survival plan just got a lot more complicated. Soon, I’m fighting angry Fae duchesses, werewolves, and my own growing feelings for the handsome, arrogant Prince Adric.

Magic Exchange is Book One in the Royal Academy of Velkin romance series and it features a handsome prince, danger around every corner, and a strong heroine who will fight for her happily ever after! Scroll up to one-click the first book in this new Academy romance series!

At first, I wasn't too sure I would like the story, but as it progresses, it becomes enthralling. An abused nobody is chosen to go to a magical realm as an exchange student. Along the way she makes a friend as well as enemies. The prince hates all humans. The Queen knows something and gives enigmatic hints. An evil wants to conquer one world and destroy another. This is a very good book and I highly recommend it.

Firstly, I must say that I have so much appreciation that the main female has a history if abuse and the author has her have some of the signs of it instead of just saying there was a history but not showing trauma affecting her in any way.
Secondly, this book is a masterpiece! This book is everything I did not even realize I needed! I absolutely cannot wait for the next one!

Love love loved this book. The characters were awesome. I couldn't put it down & can't wait for #2. My only very small negative was it didn't feel like it was an academy book to me. It was heavily focused on the relationship of the main characters & what the future held, there wasn't much in the way of classes, peers or way of academy life. But I still thought it was a great book. Enjoy!!

I went into this thinking I knew what the plot would be but was unexpectedly surprised by it instead. The characters jump off the page and I really love how we get both views to really see the story come alive.
Enemies to Lovers fans to absolutely gobble this story up.

Carolyn Connors had suffered through many years of abuse. She was hoping that as her mother dropped her off in front of the wrought-iron gates of The Velkin Royal Academy to begin her last year of school that she might have said goodbye, or good luck, or something – “Get out!” just lacked warmth. Her attendance at the boarding school was part of a new human exchange program and she hoped it would be a new start to launch her into college. Residing in the magical land of Velkin, where dragons, elves, demons, witches, sirens, and orcs roamed free would at least look impressive on a college application and should earn her a scholarship! What looked like a smiling pixie, named Kyra, met her at the gate. She thanked Carolyn for trusting them with her life, and swore to protect her from harm! Was she going to be a hostage or something? Carolyn asked if she should be worried about something, and the smiling pixie said, “Oh yes, very worried!” and led her to her destination. But wherever she was going, it had to be better than what she was leaving behind.

This new series has a wonderful beginning. We get the mixed signals of Kyra who smiles genuinely as if meeting Carolyn is the best thing that ever happened to her, but then talks about protecting her and there being something to worry about. There are many things about to happen in Carolyn’s new life. Can she handle it? Will she be able to survive in this magical world with enemies she doesn’t even know yet?

*** I’m volunteering to review this arc ***

Wow! This book was hard to put down. I just loved the characters in this story. Carolyn is a strong heroin. Carolyn escapes the abuse of her mother to go to Velkin’s royal academy to go to school. All she wants to do is survive her last year of school, get into a good college away and get a better life way from her mother. She wasn’t expecting to be attracted to Prince Anatole and finding out that Anatole and herself are to save Earth and Velkin. Anatole doesn’t like the humans and he doesn’t want them at the Academy. Anatole wasn’t expecting to be attracted to Carolyn. They have to figure out who the threat is and how they are to stop it. Will Carolyn and Anatole confront there attraction? Will they stay hating each other? Will Carolyn survive her last year of school? Will they figure out who they need to save Earth and Velkin from? Will they be able to save both worlds?
I must say that Emmeline Winter did a excellent job on this story. Great characters and great story line. I’m very excited for the second book called Magic Captive to see what happens to Carolyn and Anatole’s story.

The Good
Interesting concept
A parallel dimension/Planet that becomes known to the entire humanity
Finally paranormal beings don't need to hide
A paranormal King looking for peace with humans
A sassy heroine

The Common
A bad tempered prince who does not like humans
A gang of mean girls in love with the Prince
A clandestine relationship between the youngest of the 3 Prince's and a pixie
Enemy to lovers plot theme

So overall a good base building for the rest of the series. Hopefully book 2 will bring something new to the table.

If you are a fan of Hate to Love, with a Dash of Destiny, then Magic Exchange should be next on your TBR list. This book has everything that I love in a romance: enemies to lovers, forbidden relationships, great chemistry with swoony banter, angst, heartbreak, villains, a quirky best friend - all set on a magical planet named Velkin that is on the brink of war. Read this and get ready for the second installment, Magic Captive, set to come out on June 28, 2020-- YESSSSS.

I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Carolyn is a human who has been invited to the Velkin Royal Academy all she wants to do is go to college but what she needs to do is to survive. The king has proclaimed that a human student will win Prince Anatole’s hand in marriage but Anatole hates humans. There’s action, adventure, suspense, danger, drama, magic and so much more to keep you entertained and turning the pages, this is a fantastic start to a new series I loved it and I can’t wait to read book 2 and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.

Sent on a Magical exchange from Earth to a land with magical creatures, Caroline went to escape an abysmal life. One of the humans would be fated to be the arrogant Elf Prince Anatole’s future wife. Caroline was just trying to save her life, no cruel prince was going to steer her from her path. The book ends on a cliff, but to save their two worlds they are going to have to bend a little. I look forward to the next book.

Magic and non-magic combined. We have Carolyn being one of the first humans to step foot into Velkin where magic lives. Can this exchange bring peace to both worlds? Or will the dark take over? Why is Anatole so against humans? Why does his mother think she can help with darkness? Can they save Velkin? Can Anatole and her make peace with each other?

This book is a quick, but delightful, enemies to lovers, romance.
I was invested in the romance from the moment they locked eyes, because I can't help loving this trope!
The world building was well done, and I would definitely read the next book in the series!

I really enjoyed this book and cannot wait for the next one! The world discovers that all things magical are real and agree to send some humans to the magical realm. When the two main characters come together there is no love lost between them. However, once they agree to work together to save both of their worlds, doors to their hearts open even while evil moves closer.

A broken human girl is offered a chance to attend a magical school. It is also said the velkan king has declared the prince will marry a human. Carolyn has had a very hard life but has made friends as well as enemies. She just wants to survive her last year of school. This story is so captivating. I loved carolyn. This was truly a magical story which I really enjoyed.
