Rate this book
fashionistas - noun; pronunciation: [fash-uhn-ee-stuh]
Definition: 1: Some one who eats, sleeps, breathes and lives for fashion. 2: someone who works in the fashion industry. 3: Someone who would never be seen dead in last season's look.

Hadley Harlow was once the world's biggest child star. Now she is strictly C-list and launching herself on the London celebrity circuit to revive her flagging career. Sure, Hadley's high maintenance but she's also a tough cookie who isn't going to let anything stand in her way - whether it's pesky agents, jealous co-stars or three diva-like flatmates. Not to mention the disapproval of Reed, hop film director and notorious modeliser. LIke she cares what he thinks!

But even when you're on the bottom rungs of the showbiz ladder, you can still have a long way to fall. Learning to live in the real world is going to be Hadley's toughest role yet...

The second fashionista book was one that really surprised me by the end of the book for a variety of reasons.

To start with I was concerned. I didn't much like Hadley and I was worried that the story was just going to be a reselling of the first book but from her perspective which worried me quite a bit. I started off being a little bored and was considering not carrying on after a while but I'm glad I persisted.

After a while things changed. The story took on its own path rather than being a straight reselling of the events of the first book in the series and you started to get under the skin of the main characters a lot more and actually the ideas thrown up were real thinkers. It discussed the ideas of fame and what it means, the role of the paparazzi and whether they so be restricted and it looked in depth at child stars and whether their use should be allowed and all of it made me really feel for the main character an awful lot.

A real thinker of a book which surprised me a lot.

Once again, another character who is so irritating in the beginning of the book, but then grows as a person. Initially, Hadley is presented as a vapid, fame-hungry brat but then we see her depth and see that she is a lot more likeable when she realises that fame isn't everything. Her relationship with Reed is SO CUTE!! I love the development between the two of them.

I LOVE the Fashionistas series, I think they're particularly great for summer and they are so easy and enjoyable to read!

Major meltdown and a half, there is a lot of humanity in it and it gets to you a little, in a way that you feel for the characters.

Hadley Harlow
was robbed by her dad. Sitting there she is angry but puts on a mask. Her mother seems to be abusive and yelled at her for arresting her dad--after he robbed her.
Rumors such as the typical child star "Where are you now?" have taken their toll on Hadley. People assumed she was dead or in rehab. Moving into Camden she believes she will make a friendship with Candy Careless. After a while the stakes turn and she tries to befriend beautiful TV competition winner Laura Parker who is also friends with Candy and doesn't hate anyone. She manages to melt the heart of Russian model Irina Kesovitch and the two bond.
But then one day she met Reed Careless (I think). No they didn't fall in love (right away)after she asks for a role in his movie and he declines.
Being dragged into a toxic lifestyle Hadley finds herself rashing and sweating on a TV show. Her life turns upside down as a band pulls their "things" out and wave it in her face. not suprisingly Hadley vows never to show her fake tanned face again...

Quite childish read for me but I fancied something easy haha!
However, I found it hard reading this book because of some of the american lingo and the dialogue and writing style in general is really colloquial. The words 'totally' and 'like' were used practically in every paragraph. Also at times went into alot of detail. It dragged on unnecessarily with pointless conversations sometimes and the book could've even cut a few chapters out that weren't vital to the plot.

Overall an alright read, I suppose. I wont read it again.
Interesting seeing what people would do to be famous though.

Plus I like the mini glossarys that are in Sarra Mannings books!

I previously read the first book in this series, Laura and enjoyed it. Although it was a few years back, I remembered the basics of the plot. (There was a mini recap at the start of this book). So, this one gives the story from Hadley's perspective and then moves the characters lives forward. This story is not just teen fluff. It actually made me consider my own prejudices, because this book is an insight into what goes on in a person's life, is not necessarily what they present to the world. I am going to have to see the world from Irina's perspective next, I reckon that will make for some interesting reading!

Easy to read, as with Fashionistas (Irina), it's nothing OMG but still good.
