Anastasiya I was born a trophy owned by the Resnov Bratva, waiting for the day they’d collect. My identity was engraved in their legacy, and my only purpose was to obey, to submit. I had no voice, and most of all, I had no choice. I was promised to one yet stolen by another. Simeon Resnov was my savior, a different kind of beast. A beautiful contradiction to the name he carried. He hid the darkness in him so well.
Simeon She was meant to sit on a mantel, waiting for her rightful owner to claim her. On that day, she’d be used until there was nothing left until her existence was nothing but blood on his hands. But the moment I saw her, I recognized the pain in her eyes. It drew me in, entranced me, and turned into an obsession that demanded I have her. So, I took her. I stole the girl branded to another, and now her broken soul is mine to mend…to break… And mend again.

USA TODAY Bestselling Author Amarie Avant focuses on writing romantic suspense, contemporary romance, dark romance with the occasional redeemable anti-hero.
Simeon, Simeon, Simeon. Have Mercy! After reading Fearless III I had a small glimpse of who he was. Sexy (check), Alpha (check), Sociopath (check) and Serial Killer (check) but those words can’t completely describe this character. Yes, Simeon is bat shit crazy there is more than meets the eye. He tries to help his mother heal from the loss of his father/uncle (yeah, I know fucked up right?) and he tries to locate his lost love who abandoned him while he was in prison. Anastasiya is borderline psychotic herself so she and Simeon together seems like a perfect match. She has her demons and secrets and when they are revealed all hell will break loose in Russia. But I do have a soft spot for Anastasiya. The hell she went through growing up as a Castle Girl and then having to live with the guilt each time she sees or talks to Kosta more than explains why she has become the woman she is today.
More Thoughts
Luka – After understanding his reasoning for why he was upset with Anastasiya I can have some sympathy for him now. Kirill – I know there were only a few scenes with him but I feel that there is more there. Maybe down the road we can read about him? Vassilli and Zariah – I loved having them in the book. The interactions with Zariah Natasha and Anastasiya were sweet. Mikhail – That motherfucker has a death wish! I want a book on him so bad but I’m worried Simeon is going to kill his ass before I get it.
Amarie this book was hot as hell. There were some intense scenes in the book but they were needed to completely understand the relationship between Simeon and Anastasiya. I love how your intertwining older characters into this book and bringing new one in who I’m hoping will get books down the road. Thank you for the start of another great series.
Title: Lawless: A Dark Bratva Romance Author: Amarie Avant Publisher: A.A. Reviewed By: Arlena Dean Rating: Five Review "Lawless: A Dark Bratva Romance" by Amarie Avant
My Speculation:
"Lawless was a deadly dark Bratva romance" read that featured Anastasiya and Simeon. Along with these two main characters, there were also some very complex secondary characters that will keep the reader turning the pages to see what is coming next. Who will own who when it is all said and done. One of the main questions in the story is after Simeon saved Asya when she was twelve, why had she left him. After finding her once again, what secret did Asya withhold from him? What a journey this story will have as it will be seen that both of these two main characters indeed had some issues that were off the chart, however through it all, they did have a love for one another. Will they be able to find there way back to one another after all is said and done since it was evident that they did love each other? This is where I tell you will have to pick up this good read to see how it will call come out, and I will say you will be left wanting more of the story.
If you are looking for a well-packed action story you have come to the right one because this story if so full of it all from explicit sex scenes and let's not leave out the violence that will run all through the story, so no this is not for the faint at heart to read.
Thank you to the author for the BookFunnel read. It was quite an enjoyable read that only you can give your readers.
Wow, this was so deliciously written. I thought I loved Vassili in the Fearless trilogy, but I loved his brother Simeon so freakin hard. The new Russian Tsar is EVERYTHING!!! Sim rules with an iron fist. He is intelligent, and such an Alpha Asshole, BUT not towards the love of his life Anastasiya. His love for her is unwavering... yea prepare to melt everywhere!!! He is firm, but seeks to put her needs first...swoon! Asya is fierce in her own right and damn can she hold her own against her man. She has been through so much in her life, but she has definitely risen, and dare I say turned into a total badass. She would make the perfect Tsarina to rule the Russian Bratva, next to Simeon. Their chemistry is SCORCHING. They have challenges still to overcome, but Amarie keeps you thirsting for more of their story. I enjoyed the appearances of Zar and Vassili. Mikhail was very intriguing in this story, and I look forward to the role he will play in part two of this duet. You absolutely don't want to miss this incredible #MAFIA story. Simeon is such a sh*t talker, and you're going to love it!!! "Nyet. You know I don't fu*k fair, girl." Thank you Amarie for sharing your talent with us.
Very dark but not enough romance in this book. It revolves around the very complicated relationship between Simeon and Anastasyia. There's sex trafficking, torture and BDSM featured in this. Really intense themes, but the love story between these two was lukewarm for me. I couldn't get into it. Too much focus on the backstory and not on the romance unfortunately. Not sure I'm interested in part II
This was a pretty good read. Anastasiya was promised to someone else when she was rescued by Simeon from the clutches of monsters and proceeded to build her up into someone other the trophy she was born to be in the Russian Bratva. These two had some hot chemistry. I also liked that they accepted each other for who they were. I liked Simeon right away but I had to warm up to Ana in the beginning she came off as cold but in the end I ended up loving her. This book had a lot going on in it. This was my first time reading this author. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this duet as this book did leave off on a cliffhanger.
Wow ! Enjoyed the storyline it was suspenseful and kept me on the edge of my seat. I love me some Simeon even if he were a killer. I understand him more and can't wait for the next book.
A love not allowed. A very dark mafia romance where love is forbidden. This story is of Asya and Simeon, one owned by the Bratva and the other is a Bratva heir. Asya is owned by the bratva and one other but loved by a cursed Resnov son. This is a love that should never have been allowed, but it is nurtured and has developed beyond all expectations. But all good things must come to an end. Asya and Simeon love hard and may fall even harder. At times Asya is very naive for wanting what can not be. This tortured love between herself and Simeon has many parts but she fails to recognise jealousy in it's truest form- dressed up as a friend and not a foe. Will Simeon and Asya allow secrets and jealousy to control their second chance at love? This is only part 1. There is more to come. This is only the beginning of a very dark, obsessive and dangerous love.
Amarie this book is like nothing I have ever read !Let me try to explain what I mean . I can't imagine the p!ace that you had to go in your mind to become these characters and the amount of research that went into this work of art to bring forth so much darkness is really mind blowing. This masterpiece broke something in me ,even tho I know this is a work of fiction to just know first hand that this kind of evil does exist in this world is terrifying .Simeon isn't a good man but for Asya he tries so hard to be everything she needs even at his own expense, he would rather end his own life than to ever hurt Asya .Hurt people hurt people and mostly the people that love them the most .Si.son and Asya have endured so much pain at other people's hands I bet of you to please give them a happy ending. All the little girls that have become women who still carry scars and nightmares from their own private hell needs to know that healing can come to even the most broken person with love and time .Giving this book 5 stars doesn't do it justice.I swear you really are trying to kill me ,Lol .Do yourself a favor and get this book you will not be sorry.I very highly recommended it to anyone how wants a outstanding read .
Amarie Avant’s book Lawless did not disappoint. I enjoy reading about Simeon and Asya. They still have a long way to go but I have faith in them. Dear Mikhail I’m begging you to please stay in your lane. Simeon isn’t someone you’d want to cross. Nevertheless, this was another 5 star book with a “cliffhanger “ lol. Good news is, Book 2 is already out so you wouldn’t be put off by it. I truly hope whoever is reading this review, enjoy this book as much as I did
Simeon is relentless with 2 things.....his unwavering unconditional love for Asya and his unrepentant dedication for revenge...but something has to give....he will either smother Asya with love or literally smother her to death...as hot an erotic as this book is...Amarie is also savvy in interweaving storylines that could lead to other characters having their own novels...that brings me to Mikhail....I know the teaser has him as a possible bad guy in Lawless 2...but dare I suggest another view....one that will have him a hot and sexier alpha....maybe falling in love with another rescued broken soul....😜
Wow.. okay first thing there is a slight cliffhanger, BUT it is not a bad one. It’s more like a pause. Asya and Simeon are a match made in heaven. Simeon has never loved anyone aside from his mother like he loves Asya. Asya was born to be a child bride so she never knew what real love was/is. The journey these two go through in this book will have you mad, sad, crying and cheering the entire time. This does have dark moments so beware. This isn’t a fairytale book and if you are looking for a sappy love story this isn’t it, but if you like bad boys who love just as hard as they screw this is for you. I absolutely loved this book and can not wait until part two is released!
As an avid fan of anything Amarie Avant, I gobbled up Simeon and Anastasiya’s story. We met Simeon in "Fearless," ruthless half-brother of Vassili. Elevated to Pakhan after the much deserved demise (by unnatural causes) of his father Anatoly, his first duty was to retrieve Anastasiya, who had left under suspicious circumstances four years earlier. Simeon had saved her when she was twelve years old, from being given to a man (when she became of age) who would own her for life. Needless to say, they both had major issues, but what was true was that Simeon loved Anastasiya more than life itself. This was a journey for the both of them to eradicate all of their demons, avenge the wrongs committed against them, and find their way back to each other through the strength of their love. I received an ARC for an honest review of "Lawless" and I give it five well deserved stars!
I thought book 1 was the ISH, but book 2 took it all the way home and answered some questions for me.
When I left off in book one, Anastasiya was contemplating on rather or not to learn the art of forgiveness to spare Simeon more chaos at the hands of his family.
But that didn't help.
Although these two tried to make it work, there were outside forces trying to stop thier HEA.
Mrs Avant outdid herself in this Twisted, Dark Lovestory.
Can't wait to see what else this Tremendously Talented Author brings to us next.
Dang I was not expecting anything that I read, but I cannot wait for book 2!!
This book is a Dangerous book.
Now I don't mean that in the sense that it will cause you harm. But more of to say this book will explode on you, and cause you to feel so much emotion.
Asiya aka Anastasiya is one Female you do not want to ever cross. Her life was not easy at all, and it shows with her actions and words She meets Simeon, when he was shaking down her evil nanny. And lets just say even though she was a little girl, she was a fighter and she wasn't going to just do what he wanted without a fight.
Noe Simeon is a Dangerous Man, who will do whatever it takes to get protect what is his. Even if he has to kill his own family members and followers. Nothing will stop him from protecting his woman.
Not to mention he is not above taking out an entire generations of family's, and anyone connected to whoever crosses him. Better hope to your lord and savior that you or someone you know don't cross him. Or you can end up being killed just for knowing the person who try to do him dirty.
Even though this story is a two part story, I have to say that their are a lot of surprises in this book that caught me off guard. BUT they're exciting as well, had me jumping in my seat screaming, " Oh shoot!" Or " Dang. See that's why I don't run the streets. Give me a boring life any day of the week."
lol Needless to say this book is beyond exciting for anyone who wants to read some action. I have to say that the details of murder or and schemes are spot on. This book really has me feeling sad for what happen to a lot of people. Asiya and Simeon included in this.
I am curious about a couple of things, which I'm sure it will be answer in the next book, so I'll hold off any further questions and comments until then.
This is a book I would tell a lot of people to read if they're interested in action, love, and a dominate, alpha, Russian man determine to protect his woman at all cost.
Flipping Anastasiya and Simeon...where do I start? In this book you get underage sex trafficking, murder, double cross maybe even triple cross, hot sex and the Bratva. Anastasiya is running from her past & the love of her life so that she can guard what's left of her fragile heart. Simeon is not letting go of the person he gave his heart to before he went to jail and before he became the head of the Bratva. So he finds his heart and brings her back home to where it all began. There was so many jaw dropping plot twists and turns that had me looking like I was playing clue "The butler did it"! Simeon was a sexy psychopath and very loving when he needed to be and Anastasiya was his perfect match because she was a psychopath as well, but it was due to all the trauma that they both endured together and apart. At the same time they were each other's saving grace. This definitely was a emotional rollercoaster coaster type read and at every turn there was someone double/triple crossing someone. The plot was about not keeping secrets of the heart away from the person who owns your heart or they'll end up hurt in the end nor able to trust you wholeheartedly. This was a crazy good story that had me in my feels, but also had me not caring if there was a HEA I just wanted them to just get their revenge. The sex was so good it was snatching souls and wigs...where they do that at!!! This is a damn good book and already working on reading part 2.
I was starting to get frustrated with this book by half way. The alternate ending was a realization that this book as well as some of your earlier books at times have started well then get confusing and frustrating. The alt ending actually made WAY more sense. When I read from her perspective, I was confused and trying to figure out where did the thing with Mikhail came from. I was very confused, re-read it a couple time trying to understand what was happening. I felt confused about halfway thru. As the reader I felt just as confused as the characters. I feel like we shud have insight to what is happening in their heads even if we don't always know everything. I need hints, otherwise the plot turn feels rushed confusing, and sometime won't line up with the way interactions are written. I like to know background and reason for a cliffhanger. It started feeling like with both Sim and Asya, they were so smart yet so clueless and blind at the same time. I want to know that there are more secrets with characters before the end of the book even though I may not know what it is. Felt like plot with the mom and Mikhail came out of no where, not enuf build up. And is she still plotting with Kosta? I can handle multi plot books especially if they will be a part of major plot twists
I didn't care for this book. Don't get me wrong...the "darkness"...the violence... didn't bother me. It was the writing.
It felt like the writer was trying way too hard to sound deep, poetic and sophisticated. It came across more weird and stilted to me and having to read ad re-read to try decipher the unnecessarily flowery writing made for a long and tedious read.
The best thing about this book was that I learned a few Russian words.
The actual story itself had promise, but it took way to long to get to the pertinent parts. It ends on a cliffhanger with no resolution to anything. There's a preview of the next book, which I refuse to torture myself with--thanks, but no thanks--which appears to show everything turned upside down. I am curious to find out why Simeon's mother did what she did... I want to know if Anastasiya gets her revenge... I'm wondering what could have turned Simeon against the love of his life... and I'd like to know how it all works out. But if I have to endure this kind of writing in order to have my questions answered, I think I'll stay in the dark.
This book has no redeeming qualities. Not even small issues from earlier in her life she will say. It’s all secrets on top of secrets on top of secrets. I thought this love story would be as wonderful, fulfilling and satisfying to read as Zariah and Vassilli, so very, very wrong. It’s like a totally different author wrote this book. Just a outline of how much crap could be flung into a book with no resolution or even attempted resolution and call it a book. Which means all of these many, many, Many issues that this character has will have to “resolved”in book 2. This book gave me whiplash from just being all over the place with the worst character and the worst character development I’ve ever read and I’m almost 50! I don’t know what the author was trying to accomplish but this is an epic fail. So disappointing
I’m doing my best not to compare this to Fearless as they are NOT the same nor were they meant to be. This was much darker as other reviewers have said and way more sad. I’m still a little lost on the dynamics and realize this is a two book story. Hopefully all these loose ends get tied up before the end. I loved seeing Zariah and Vasilli too! Their family is #goals! Seeing this story jump around made my head spin a bit but I was advised this is how Amarie Avant writes and I’m here for it! Just don’t read while sleepy or you might miss something! Of course the stëam was WAY fire!! That part was never in question. About burned up my kindle. All in all a great book that I’m itching to find all the answers to and hope these guys find their VERY hard earned HEA!
Oh my damn!!! Oh my damn!!! Hot damn!!!! Mrs. Avant didn't come to play but to slay. Slay she did with this book. What she came up with was an erotic page turner with mystery and action. This book is a story of redemption, forgiveness, acceptance, and unconditional love. Simeon took Anastasiya from the clutches of monsters and proceeded to build her up (redemption). It's a story of forgiveness because we must learn to forgive ourselves for our actions (forgiveness). Simeon and Anastasiya accepted each other flaws and all, and loved despite that (acceptance and unconditional love). Please pick up this book. It's told in different points of view, no cheating, no cliffhanger, and a hea. I highly recommend this book.
I recommend this book for anyone who like dark romance novels. Simeon and Asya has history of pain and suffering as kids. They both understand each other. They have a very intense and dark connection. Asya ran from Simeon when he was doing time for his no good dad Antoly at the blue dolphin after she was almost killed and loss their unborn baby. Simeon spund 4 years looking for his love Asya. He found her in the states. They reconnected. But Asya is not being completely honest with Simeon about what happen 4 years ago. I won't say anything else you will have to find out for yourself what happens with Asya and Simeon story. It is a must read I loved it.
This is what I imagine the outline of this book looked like, since I would literally flip and stop at a new chapter and it was…
1. Use several Russian words over and over again unnecessarily so reader does not forget —Bravta Romance 2. Incorporate as many diabolical acts/behaviors so reader does not forget — Dark & Bravta 3. Use superfluous language to ensure a second book “My pinches did magic. You told off the devil.” 4. Make H a narcissist psycho so reader does not forget — Bravta 5. Make h unable to resist H, because love conquers all… even mass murder Of the innocent 6. BDSM a must —Dark Bravta Romance
Rise and repeat until word count is met for second book.😏🥴🙄
Omg! You have done it once again Ms. Avant. I was sucked in from the first page. Anastasiya is dealing with the demons of her past. And it seems as if all is spiraling out of control. Simeon loves her so much, but will it ever be enough? I don't want to reveal too much, but the knife handle scene was crazy/sexy. I also felt from the beginning that the deluded Mama Sofiya wasn't so innocent. Secrets are about to be revealed. I read this book straight through and I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series. I can't say enough how much I enjoyed this book. I voluntarily read this book in exchange for my honest opinion.
Ms. Avant consistently puts out some of the deepest, emotionally charged titles that can potentially snatch your entire soul. I never know what to expect in each storyline; however, I always expect and know I’ll be blown away. Lawless was no different. Simeon and Anastasiya’s story shows the consistency of an author who’s mastered the art of connecting with readers. I loved both characters and their struggles because it only made their getting together that much more explosive. I wholeheartedly recommend Lawless to readers looking for a fierce love story with less than perfect leads.
When I first started this story it immediately gave me the feeling of something bad and something sinister was about or had happened. The two main characters are two people who have been shaped by the horrors they've had to survive. The writer gives us a look at this very dark and troublesome relationship. We get to look inside this relationship and how the cops. There are going to be moments when you are going to clutch your pearls and a time when you are going to feel a quite a few emotions. This was a good story, with solid writing and a storyline that's going to keep you interested.
All I can say is WOW this was so amazingly dark and I loved every minute of it. So many questions from Fearless was answered for me in Lawless. I love Anastasiya and Simeon and I really hope all the secrets they hold onto doesn’t destroy them. I really hope Asya can let go of her past so she can finally be free. All this time I thought Anatoly was a monster for what he did to Sofiya now I’m not so sure especially after finding out the part she played in what happened to Anastasiya. Anxiously awaiting part 2.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review- Well, what can I say! This story jumped out at me from the first few words. Excellently written, shocking, unexpected, deep. Sim and Asya are not the ordinary couple, doing ordinary things. Sim is not the run-of-the-mill alpha. He expresses his love for Asya without reservation. He will do anything for her. Asya returns these feelings but is not always as expressive, and she has good reasons to be more reserved. Together they are fire. Grab this book quickly and enjoy the wild ride!
I received this book in an ARC, for a honest review. I can honestly say Lawless is awesome! I knew from the others that Sim was dark, but, the way he loves.....oh my. I have read many of her books and knew what I was in for, she has surpassed!!!! I recommend this book if you are looking for action, complexity, adventure, and of course more questions. I look forward to part 2 for all my answers. Thank you for keeping me intrigued!!!!
